Best beer and best wings I've had in a very long time. Beautiful outdoor seating. Couldn't have asked for anything else post-hike.

The laid back atmosphere and easygoing crowd makes this a great gathering place for locals. They do have a good beer selection & the oversized burgers are excellent. If you do prefer outdoor seating in the patio near the train tracks, you'll see and hear the Metro North train whiz by every half hour. Not a great place to hold down a conversation, but the autumn breeze is welcoming. I do find the inside of the pub very cozy. It has a library feel to it with bookshelves, 2 fireplaces, and comfy booths. It was surprisingly empty at the time. Also, I didn't hear the train go by. read more

Rolled up to the Cold Spring Depot a few minutes before 11 AM on Sunday. The outdoor bartender Star, welcomed us in although they were not yet open. Star made one hell of a bloody Mary, she spoke to us of some interesting facts of the area. She was very personable and told us a great place to eat lunch in High Falls as we had stopped on Harleys for a quick one. She reviewed a map with us and helped our Sunday become a great day of adventure and motorcycling. It is really nice to meet down to earth people who take the time to be friendly and helpful. Came here after a hike on ... not Breakneck but her adjacent baby sister (I will start and finish Breakneck next time!!) and I was STARVING! the waiters took a while to communicate and serve us. It took them 10 mins to seat us and almost an hour to serve us. It was a little ridiculous but I was in a good mood and was just looking to drink lots of water. Unfortunately, it was almost impossible to get a hold of our waiter to even get water. When the food did come, it was amazing... for me. I ordered a burger with pickles and onion rings and it was top ten in my burger list. not sure if it was cause I was starving or it was really that good. but it was good, nevertheless. My cousin on the other hand ordered the Shepherd's pie and I warned him that I've never tried a place that did the Shepherd's Pie good so far.. and low and behold it was a small portin, greasy, and definitely not worth the wait.. Cold Spring Depot is although a great place for families and especially during brunch and lunch. The decor is cozy like a winter ski vacation cabins. Better hope for the best! read more

I went here twice during my weekend trip to Cold Spring. The first time was to enjoy the cozy, inviting atmosphere by the bar with the roaring fireplace. The bartender was great and told us he could make us hot toddies even though they weren't on the menu. I didn't want to leave that welcoming place! The second time was to eat dinner, which I enjoyed. Their Depot Sandwich is REALLY good, and so are their fries. My boyfriend got the Guinness Pot Pie and really enjoyed it as well. I definitely will come back here next time I'm in Cold Spring. read more

I'm sorry....I should have got this review out earlier....like October 2015, but did want to note that they really do the place nicely with a cool Haloween theme. Full sized goblins and mummies and stuff....the kids got a kick out of it. First off the draft beer choices were awesome. A wide range of everything. Service was slow. They had an Oktoberfest special menu at the time, (which I wanted) with three different sampler wursts: weisswurst, knockwurst, and bratwurst with potato salad and sauerkraut on the side; my son had BBQ ribs and my daughter had her standard hamburger. I just found one thing annoying: when I ordered, I asked the waitress if she could substitute the knockwurst (an oversized hot dog) with any of the other two wursts. I offered that any upcharge was ok. I don't think anyone ever posed that question to her before. She went into the kitchen and came out shortly thereafter with the following explanation as to why this wasn't possible: She told us that there are exactly the same number of Weisswursts, bratwursts, and knockwursts in the kitchen, for an exact three wursts per plate, per order. No more, no less. Everything was portion controlled in the kitchen with no substitutions. (Col. Kurtz was running the kitchen). Woe to the waitress that did not heed this rule !!! Anyway my three wursts came and honestly it was a nice sized order. Daughter's burger was standard fare, and son's BBQ ribs were straight out of a cryovac bag from restaurant depot. He's not particular on food and will eat nearly everything, but he didn't particularly like them. All in all, you'll get hungry walking around Cold Spring. The town is quaint with all little shops n shit, but for eats dont expect any culinary perfection here. You'll get your belly filled, that's about it. read more

After moving to the area I have visited the depot on several occasions when we have had visitors from out of town. This week I went with my hubby to be for our weekly date night. My fiancé is very picky so I thought he would like the depot. Not a good choice. Meals are half assed, servers were rude and not at all knowledgable about their menu or wine list- prices were way too high for the experience. Had some great crispy chicken thighs that crunched loud enough for my daughter to hear with whipped potato that had great texture but was also creamy. Alexa had the herb crusted salmon which came with a summer succotash which was the star of the show. Creamy butter tomato emulsion and bits of asparagus and fresh summer corn and zucchini. Edelberto was our waiter and he was incredibly rude and rolled his eyes multiple times when asked to split the check. Bad service.

We were a party of five, which they could not immediately accommodate, which is perfectly understandable. We sat at the bar and made it clear that we would like a table when available. We ordered drinks. A table of four opened up, and we asked if we could take it. They said they weren't allowed to add chairs due to COVID rules. Fine. Understandable. Then a table for five opened up. I asked if we could sit there. Our server rolled her eyes and ignored me. I walked over and sat down. A different server said they needed the table. I said, you don't take reservations, we were waiting at the bar. She goes on to argue with us. Then our original server said we could sit there and brought our drinks. Then a very confrontational manager informed us we had to move. They asked a party of five to leave a table for five so they could seat a party of two. I have never experienced such incredible rudeness from a restaurant staff. And it had nothing to do with COVID issues. They were just incredibly rude. We obviously left. We went to Cold Spring on the weekend. We were a party of six, came across this restaurant. They Maitre d' said twenty to twenty five minutes wait. They txt us to tell us out table was ready, we waited no more than twenty minutes. Its an old train depot and its so cozy, they allow pets. its very cute. They are very very good with Gluten Free, very careful and very understanding. The waitress was willing to answer as many questions that we had about the GF. She even mentioned, "you can ask as many questions as you like better to know than to get sick." The waitress was just a caring and wonderful person, very caring also. They all help each other, the waiter was very nice also. The food was amazing, smelled so good. We ordered desert even though we were all full, it was so good it was sinful. The owner was very pleasant, asked us if everything was good, we told him how happy we were and how delicious the food was and that we were going to return. Awesome place. We will be going back to this place soon. read more

We haven't tried the food but the beer list is varied, which is the sort of touch I don't expect in a village restaurant -- let alone one as well trod as Cold Spring. By far the worst ribs I have ever had. Clearly microwaved after being prepped earlier. I think the meat to seasoning ratio was half and half. Then they slather a lack luster bbq sauce on top. Every once and a while you get a decent section of meat but a majority tastes like over seasoned beef jerky. My wife got a burger and it was pretty good. Not sure why they have ribs on the menu. The chicken pot pie looked really good. The burger was good... Just stick to easy meals that people enjoy. Ribs are labor intensive and ppl expect quality when you are buying the 2nd most expensive thing on the menu. I will go back but NEVER think about ordering the ribs again. read more

5 for atmosphere. If you are in Cold Spring you need to stop in at the Depot - if only for a drink. The food is not why you come here...but while you are having your drink (and/or apps) sit back and enjoy the historical building as the trains whiz by. If you are lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the 'ghost of the depot'. read more

Nice casual spot in the warmer weather to eat and have some drinks outside, and a cozy indoor dining for the cold temps. Our nieces and nephew love watching the trains go by, just a heads up they are literally next to the tracks so prepping the kids for the loud fast trains might be helpful. The worst experience I ever had in a restaurant. First our waitress told us not to forget her on our credit card. Then I went to the bathroom and the kitchen help came out of the bathroom and never washed her hands. When I spoke to the manager who was completely unprofessional stated well she has been with us for 10 years and she will wash her hands in the kitchen and as for the waitress ,well she has a funny sense of humor was his remarks. The kitchen help opened the bathroom door, the dining room door and who knows what else she touched in the kitchen. The manger felt no responsibility to me as the customer or any respect for the health issues. This place should be investigated by the health department. read more

We had a great 1st time experience! When receiving the menu, I was slightly disappointed because it didn't have very many options and none of the dishes that people had raved about on the reviews. When I asked our waiter, he informed me they were serving a shortened pub menu while their menu is being revamped and released within the next week or two. He was VERY friendly and impressive. We enjoyed a few beers on the patio along with the Parmesan Rosemary Fries for an appetizer. SO GOOD! I ordered a burger from the Pub Menu as I had read that the burgers were great! It was great! Not your ordinary burger and fries! My husband ordered the night's special which was Surf n Turf (Steak & Shrimp) with mashed potatoes. Once again, not your ordinary mashed potatoes, they were DELICIOUS. And the Steak & Shrimp both had amazing flavor! We enjoyed hanging out on the patio and the ambiance of the train passing thru. What a dump. Even giving it one star is too much. We waited over an hour for a table, meanwhile, we were standing there looking at many tables that should have been available, but were not turned over. The staff is horrendous. Rude, slow and just plain pathetic. My son has a food allergy and when I asked them to check the ingredients in the ice cream, they were unresponsive and never came back. I ordered the fish and chips. They were Gordon's frozen fish. When I asked for malt vinegar to go with the fish and chips, the waiter/bus back nodded his head and never came back. I have to drop a star after today's meal. We knew it would be crowded because of mothers day, but there were empty tables(plural) and we still waited in line. I get they are busy, but they didn't plan on a busy day? Once we were seated, we asked for a drink menu but the waitress(very nice) said they don't have one but she could list the beers and get us a cocktail if we named it. Nice but we wanted to see a list, maybe specials? Food was decent and they have a couple vegetarian options. As meal ended we were given our check and never offered dessert, I guess they don't have them. As we walked out I couldn't help but think this will be my last time here. Went here on a Sunday afternoon - I believe it was brunch time so I'm understanding to the amount of wait time my boyfriend and his family had to wait. The wait was about 30-45 minutes and then when we ordered it took about an hour to get our food. I'm a very impatient person but it was DEF worth the wait! I had the portobello burger with fries. Not to mention there was a cute love band playing next to us! It was really hot that day but every table has umbrellas over it so it wasn't bad. Unfortunately, our umbrella was the only one that couldn't be adjusted so me and my bf were stuck in the sun, and the waiters didn't want us to move to another table when there was one right next to us. Unfortunately, since new owners have taken over the Depot, it is no longer the place where locals can afford to go on a regular basis. It used to have a varied menu with good food at reasonable prices. Now it's one page with NYC prices. I understand that with the influx of day trippers to Cold Spring the Depot does very well during the warm months, as I'm sure the owners are happy about. But in the dead of winter it was a go-to spot for the locals, and that's a large population being ignored. Too bad. read more

Two of my girlfriends and I gathered there for lunch. Two of us had as our main course Beef Nachos topped with shredded beef. What was surprising was that there was pickled vegetables on top, which we found delicious. Never had pickled vegetables before, but I look forward to having them again, not only on their Beef Nachos but other dishes, as well. Our server was very attentive. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean. The restaurant is very quaint and old-fashioned, and we can see the trains roaring by just outside. Also, we went outside where they had tables, and enjoyed the fresh air and trains going by. We definitely are coming back, and if you love railroads, like us, this restaurant is a MUST! read more

After climbing Breakneck Ridge, I was extremely hungry and thirsty. I looked for places with a high Yelp rating which lead me to this restaurant. It was the perfect place. It had a very relaxed comfortable atmosphere. The food was good and service was very friendly. I had a bite of a couple of dishes but what stood out the most was their fries. Very crispy and tasty. Refreshingly affordable (compared to other nearby establishments who are demanding $18 for pasta with sauce), the Cold Spring Depot is a nice, no-frills spot for lunch or dinner with a pleasingly historical feel to it. The steak special was great (a sort of BBQ pork idea but with skirt steak) and the Mediterranean Salad was... just that. Quick, attentive service is always a plus. Very nice ginger ale also. And it's right next to the railroad tracks, if you're into trains. read more
