Just moved from NY to St. Augustine to get away from people who don't like cops. NY obviously not being a cop friendly state. I asked if he offered a Police discount but he said no and didn't seem interested when I said that it's unfortunate that you also don't offer a Police discount. They only offer a Military discount. The ice cream is great but we weren't satisfied because of no Police discount being offered. I'm not asking for much would of been happy with $1.00 off my families order. Went by this evening with my husband to grab ice cream while here on a business trip. There's so many flavors to choose from. We spoke to the owner briefly she was beyond sweet!!! With 145 flavors of ice cream 100 listed on the board. I'm not much of an ice cream person but was in the mood for it. Have to say this is an awesome little joint to grab ice cream. Wonderful selection of flavors. My only complaint is the flimsy Styrofoam-like pint and quart containers. I'm not one to eat on the premises, but always enjoy taking a pint or two home. The problem comes when trying to scoop ice cream out of these containers. Unless one is careful they can break apart in your hand. Best way to prevent this is to zap the carton for 10 secs in the microwave, so that you're not putting so much pressure on the carton by pressing down on hard ice cream. I've never understood why ice cream parlors like Cold Cow don't use sturdier cardboard containers & tops like one finds in the supermarket ice cream cabinets. The thin plastic tops fragment at the edges after just two or three openings. Just a suggestion. read more

The line kinda helps bc there are so many flavors you need the time to read thru it all - the menu is on multiple walls and has a variety of flavors so if you're picky, there is at least one flavor you'd like. I like that there are different options and lactose intolerant friendly too! Theres also different portion sizes for you to choose from. I'm amazed people are so crazy about this place. Maybe I am spoiled. Like many other establishments I have frequented in the St. Augustine area, I was filled with a sense of foreboding upon entry. I knew when I walked in that it would not be very good. The whole place smelled...odd. I can't put my finger on the smell, but it was not appetizing. The staff was nice enough but seemed miserable. The portions are huge but the quality is off. A previous reviewer stated the ice cream is "homemade." This is certainly incorrect; there is nothing organic about this ice cream. It very likely rolled off an assembly line. I got the "twix" flavor and my wife got the "pumpkin." Mine did not taste like twix and I don't think actual twix candy bars were used. The wife and I thought her ice cream tasted exactly like raw pumpkin pie filler. The ice cream had a gummy texture and didn't taste very milky; it seemed fake, like eating cheap candy...or using nutra-sweet instead of real sugar. Also my wife is Celiac and we think she got glutened. I know this review seems harsh but this town needs some tough love.
