After growing my hair all winter (and becoming absolutely sick of it) I decided it was time to hack it off! Called at 1130a and they made me an appointment with Kelly at 330p (awesome). She is adorable and super sweet and gave me the exact cut I wanted. I was a little nervous about cutting 7" off but she put me at ease and did an amazing job! I recommend Coiffurium to everyone I know! I have been going to Coiffurium since 2008 and it always feels like a 5 star spa experience. Coiffurium carries the best products and their products and services are competitively priced. It's always a pleasure to be greeted by Meghann and offered a hot beverage. Somehow, the salon always runs on time (or close to it) and they call ahead in the rare event they're running late. Cat always cuts and colors my hair and she does a fabulous job. She makes helpful suggestions for new cuts/colors, keeping things new while staying in my comfort zone. I've been keeping steady ten week appointments for a trim for almost two years now and it has made all the difference in my hair routine. The service is amazing, I've had the same stylist who consults me on what types of product I should use and is an overall encyclopedia on all things beauty. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable and I look forward to my hair appointments like nothing else. If I ever end up living outside of Providence I would travel to get my hair done here. I know people think $45 on average is too much for a haircut but, I've never once walked out disliking the service or my cut and for only going every 10-12 weeks the price is worth it to me. read more

The salon is nice, clean and well managed. I took my 9 year old for a hair cut and it cost a bit too much. Parking was also a bit of a issue. I noticed the cut was not too straight. It could have been better. I am not sure if I will take my 9 year old to them again. read more

i've only been here once, so take my review with a grain of salt. i got a wonderfully funky, textured cut from patty (price point ~50/cut), upon recommendation from a staffer. patty really knew her stuff -- and finished in the short space of about 30 min. that said, going in asking for a razored bob, and asking her to hack away again and again for a total of three times -- she didn't raise an eyebrow. and i got the coolest cut i've ever had. that said, patty found asian hair weird to work with. "it seems like there's not much, but there is! and it seems like it can't take pomade, but then it's too much! it's so contradictory!" for not knowing, she did quite well. i highly recommend kyla at home wellness center in groton, CT for Really Knowing...who is probably more amazing. but not living in groton anymore -- and this one being way local -- why not. as for the others, i don't know. the other yelpers say it's a mixed bag. maybe? staff was friendly. and yay for hot tea and a head massage during the shampoo. :) read more

I've lived in many parts of the country and had my hair styled by some of the "best", but NO ONE is as talented as Jessica. I spent the winter in Florida and therefore had to have my hair done down there, I paid $250 to have my hair butchered. I've been a client here for several years and have had cuts with a few of the stylists. Everyone here seems really lovely and I've always been pleased with the work. Patty is my go-to gal. She keeps my short style looking neat and gives it just the right amount of sass. Nothing super hipster for me, but some highlights and a little spikey edge is nice. They are so great here! This was my second visit and they still didn't disappoint. When you first walk in they offer to take your coat/belongings then offer you a beverage. The staff is all so friendly, Kelly Ann is fantastic. They give you a scalp massage during your second washing at the end of your haircut even. I will definitely be back again. read more

Just had a color job done here. The place was recommended to me by a friend. As an out of towner, Providence transplant I was in search for a great hair place and feel I found it. I got beautiful beachy balayage done by stylist Jessica. The salon is very pretty but parking is tough to find. There are neighboring lots but they do tow, it's safer to park on the street. Prices depend on your hair length and thickness so it can get pricy, but they are fair. Not nearly as expensive as Boston or bigger cities. read more

I have been to a number of salons in New York and Los Angeles and so far this is the best salon I've been to! I found Coiffurium after doing a lot of on-line research and they had the best reviews on Yelp, which finalized my decision to try them out. I was nervous going to new salon as I have long hair with some complex color, but as I needed a salon closer to home and work I made an appointment. I went to Greg, who after listening to what I wanted and asking some questions, gave me some of the most beautiful color I've ever had. He also did a fantastic job with the cut and I felt that my hair looked absolutely amazing at the end of my appointment. When I set my appointment up the receptionist was very friendly on the phone and helpful with answering my numerous questions. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted with a friendly smile, a warm welcome, and an offer of coffee or tea. Not only was my first impression of the staff a good one, but the salon itself was nice. The interior had a simple design with nice colors and was quite relaxing overall. I've been back to see Greg and, even though I didn't think it was possible, I left even happier than I did the first time. I just love this place. They are flexible with scheduling and offer impecable client service. They won't do a full brazilian, but hey that's ok. I like how I look and it's a pretty easy breezy process. This salon is just up the street from my house, so it has become my de facto place to get a haircut. Shelby is a wonderful conversationalist and was a whiz with my hair which is loooong and thick. Receptionist is always friendly and the salon is always bustling and upbeat. Love that they sell mini Moroccan Oil bottles so I can treat myself but not make my wallet wince. Only downside is parking is a little rough for drivers and I've found their online appointment system to be less prompt than I would like. Also, being closed on Sunday is a bit of a drag as weekends are usually the only time most people have to fit in a haircut. read more

Literally cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. I'm somewhat of a salon vagabond, but Coiffurium has me feeling some commitment feels. I started coming here in 2014 to see Shaina, and when she left Michelle began working there. Michelle and I have known each other outside the salon for some time, but I had NO IDEA she was such a hair goddess! I have a somewhat avant-garde hairstyle that has become slightly more commonplace in recent years, but there are some hairstylists that aren't up for the challenge and attention to detail required by short hair. Every challenge I've thrown at Michelle, she's completely knocked it out of the park, and even when weeks turn into months in between appointments, my hair still looks awesome until the next time I sit in her chair. A couple months back, I requested a pretty lofty double process color job. Highlights, with bronze and pink streaks mixed in. Michelle took the look I described, made some adjustments so as not to damage my hair any more than necessary, and turned my head into the coolest kaleidoscope of pink, blonde, and rose gold ever. Two months later, the color has grown out some but I'm STILL getting compliments on my hair color. The only recommendation I can make is MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I'm sure they do walk ins, but they're so busy I can't dream of ever simply waltzing in and getting my hair done. Unfortunately, there's no online booking system, so you have to call. The couple of times I've had to leave messages on the answering machine, but I've always gotten a call back in less than 24 hours. I genuinely love coming here. Again, I hate calling to make appointments (fact, I feel super awkward on the phone) but the receptionist is always super friendly. I went here for an eyebrow and lip waxing once a couple months ago and I left with a first degree burn! It was SO embarrassing. I found this salon due to the excellent Yelp reviews last year after moving to the area. Over a year and a half later, it is the only place I will go to. I go religiously (er, somewhat religiously) every 3 months. I love it! It's clean, the girls are all friendly and they really listen to what YOU want, instead of what they think they should do (I'm sure we've all had a bad experience and you can relate.) I love Coiffurium. It's clean and bright and smells good and the reception staff are so friendly and patient. Patty cuts my hair and she is not only really good at it (she's fast too, which unlike another reviewer, I really appreciate!), but she's fun to talk to, really smart and listens to what you say. After my last cut, I got a blow-out out of state, and the woman who did that could not say enough good things about my Patty haircut--I have thick curly hair, but even when it was stick-straight the cut looked perfect. After hearing so much good about the Coiffurium from other Yelpers, I was thrilled when the bride of a wedding party I was in booked our bridal party hair appointment there. The salon itself is bright and airy but lacks the pretension of similarly high end salons. Coiffurium is conveniently located on Hope Street, right near the Seven Stars bakery where you should stop in and get one of their amazing coffees before your appointment. My stylist Mallory took my curly, frizzy, recently dyed hair and used her magic to turn it into a sophisticated, sleek updo. Jessica took care of the bride and maid of honor and she did an AMAZING job making the bride's vision of a Grecian inspired up do a reality. Jessica is also a master of make-up application and really utilized her MAC cosmetics in a beautiful, wedding-worthy way. The next time I need to get my hair done (for an event or otherwise) I will definitely return to the Coiffurium for further services. read more

Horrible experience. Patty cut my hair and it was an argument from start to finish. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and she argued about what I wanted out of the pictures (I should have left then!). She washed my hair and sprayed water all over my face and in my ears, I thought I was swimming at some points. I wanted to keep the length and she started chopping it off! I requested bangs and she couldn't even remember to do that...when she did remember it was already downhill so I declined her touching my hair anymore. NOT WORTH IT! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more
