Unfortunately, the facility has hit a bit of a decline lately. What used to be impeccably dry, clean floors are now prone to dust and hairballs, and it's gotten so wet in the wet sauna areas that they've just started putting out "caution" signs instead of actually keeping it dry. I've seen quite a few people slip. Even the "unlimited" towel perk has been downgraded to a strict two-towel limit, and the food portions and quality have shrunk exponentially compared to the cost they charge it at. That being said, there is one major saving grace: the Korean auntie who does the body scrubs. She is an absolute legend and deserves a massive raise for everything she puts up with! She's the main reason the experience still feels somewhat authentic and worth driving to. The rooms are also on the smaller side, so if you go during peak hours, it's definitely more "crowded" than "calm." Honestly, the only reason I still make the trip is that it's the only K-spa within a reasonable driving distance from Boston. If there were more local options, I'd probably skip the decline here and head straight to NJ or NYC for a higher-quality experience. It's still a decent option if you're desperate for a scrub and a soak without the four-hour drive, but I really miss the high standards they had at the beginning.

That said, if you've never had a Thai massage before and are curious about what makes it different--while not planning to visit Thailand soon, or any other state where there are more spas offering this service--then do visit Thai Tranquility Bodywork. Everyone was fantastic. I went with a wedding group, because we had a tiny, TINY, wedding... and everyone was just more than accommodating. I was gonna get a manicure/pedicure, because getting your hand and feet all scrubbed up & shaped sounded pretty good. And then everyone was like "my massage was great", so then I was like, well, I don't wanna feel left out, and got one. And then "my facial was great", and I got that too. Basically I went in thinking I was gonna get my hands and feet done, and ended up saying: well, lets just go with the whole shabang. I don't do this every week... or month... or year... or ever. So, when in... Johnston, do what you gotta do. It was worth every penny... not like the wedding was super stressful or anything, but it made me feel perfectly baseline for the next day. Everyone was fantastic, wonderful to be around, created an atmosphere that wasn't quite 'tranquility', but... comfort.
