There are several speciality coffee spots in the "retro" neighborhood of Long Beach, CA. I walked to this spot while visiting my daughter. A clean, small, comfortable coffee shop. Lots of people on laptops here which indicated to me internet connection was available. The service was super friendly and it was fun to watch my drink being made. You can substitute the whole milk for almond milk or oat milk. I took my drink to go outside and enjoy the sunshine of Long Beach. Street parking surrounded the area. Don't park on 4th street my daughter recommends because cars get wrecked due to high traffic. Definitely a recommended coffee shop if you're in the area. read more

I think I might have found a new favorite coffee shop! Popped in here on a Thursday morning with my little one. Parking wasn't the worst, but it may have just been timing (right after street sweeping ftw) because 4th street's parking is notoriously competitive. There were several small tables and a little bar with seating, and the vibe/volume in here was casual and pretty low-key. The two baristas working the counter were super chill and friendly. They have their basic mainstay coffee menu (americano, cappuccino, cortado, etc.), teas, and a few specialty mochas, lattes, and tonics. I enjoy my coffee on the sweeter side, so I went with a blueberry brown sugar iced latte. Guys, it was an adventure in a cup. I'm pretty sure there were actual blueberries used in their process as there little purple bits clinging to the cup, smoothie-style. It's as intriguing as it sounds. I will definitely be back to try some of their other offerings! read more

Ran in here since we were in the area and always wanted to try this little spot. The space is very crisp and cleaning looking; super hipster vibes. Employees were very nice. I got an iced butterscotch latte with oat milk. Def a must try ! They also sell pastries and assorted beverages as well as apparel, candy and other little merchandise. Awesome coffee shop! I got their seasonal Blueberry Brown Sugar Latte with Espresso and their Instigator. Delicious coffee! Anything described an ice-shaken espresso there is so good. You can see the barista put her whole back and total focus pumping out those coffee shaken drinks. On the other hand, found the matcha to be grainy, watered, and lacked a distinct tea flavor. This can be due to the preparation of their matcha, its unsuitable when it has the same method as their ice shaken espresso. Might be avoided if you order the matcha hot. read more

I'm late to the CoffeeDrunk party, but I have arrived! I had a great first time experience. I went on a Saturday morning around 11am while there was a popup event happening so it was a bit crowded. However, the line moved fast and the customer service at the register was pleasant. I ordered the Instigator and it was a perfect balance of espresso. milk and brown sugar. Love this coffee shop! It's very cute and earthy on the inside ( love the plants) everyone working there is so nice and friendly. Always love to hear about their seasonal drinks and what's popular! I've tried the Instigator (my go-to) and I just recently tried the blueberry espresso drink! Super good! Got the Instigator. Taste wise it's pretty good but that's because the flavors are pretty basic (maple and brown sugar). If wanna spend $7 on a small coffee then this is the place to go (it's not worth the price though) The place is pretty cute though and has ample study space if you're looking for that vibe. read more

Disappointing. I used to love coming here and always had felt great vibes from staff prior. Today was the first time in months I've been back and the staff was surprisingly very rude. The person who I ordered from almost seemed annoyed that I had questions about the menu, and that I was looking for a seasonal drink they no longer serve. I ended up ordering an iced Matcha, it was okay, not worth $8.50 though and definitely not worth the bad vibes in there either :/ read more

OH MY GOD this place was amazing. i got the on my way latte half sweet with almond milk, my only downside with this place was that it was an $8 coffee and i don't even pay that much when i go to la. A ton of the places i go to now don't up charge for plant based milks so if you guys could do that i would or maybe make the drinks bigger so i'm more willing to pay that again. overall everything was good, service was fast and the employees were sweet. read more

Came here on a Sunday morning as I was craving coffee. Parking here was really bad as it's street only but I was able to find a spot after circling around the neighborhood. Inside, it was pretty small and there was a huge line and not enough tables for everyone. It was cozy though, with plants and merchandise they have for sale. I decided to order the Instigator which is their most popular drink. It was an iced espresso with maple and brown sugar. It was very refreshing and strong. I would come back but maybe at their two other Long Beach locations because of the parking situation. read more

Small, cute little coffee shop on 4th - right across the street from Gusto. Parking is street parking and can be tricky to find at times, but plenty of area to drive through. The staff was friendly towards regular customers, having very in depth convos.z but not the same vibe I felt when ordering. I also always give myself away as a newb - because I ask basic questions. But still. If you've been reading my reviews you know I'm a coffee aficionado, but love asking questions to understand menus and options. In either case, I've been on a coffee hiatus - so what brought me here was a BBS Matcha drink I read about online. In the shop, it's called something different - heads up. I had to ask about it. It's a Blueberry Matcha basically. Oat and Almond milk options, I went with almond milk. My only issue was the drink was the brown sugar they add in. I would ask to remove it next time, hopefully they can. Tasted a little too sugary for me, I like a heavier matcha taste. However it was good overall. Once I'm drinking coffee again, I'd be back for sure to try some of their other drinks and maybe get a little friendlier service. They have things I haven't seen before, which I love to explore at a good coffee shop. read more

This is coffee shop screams Long Beach. Inside it's very modern coffee shop. Love th plants and the merchandise section. Cute tables and it just has a great vibe. The diversity of the staff make it comfortable and most importantly the coffee is great. I ordered a hazelnut café latte and it was well made with artistic design on the foam. I prefer to support small business owners so I try to avoid Starbucks if I can. Plus I'm the type that gets excited when a new coffee shop opens up. The morning I went it was crowded, which was great for them but I didn't have anywhere to sit and work so awkwardly I decided to maybe wait a bit for a table to open up. The space is quite cramped, definitely gives get it to go vibes. Also, they only take electronic payment so be prepared to tip or otherwise. Nothing against tipping food workers but I guess gone are the days when you drop your spare change in the jar on a cup of coffee. The pastries are amazing, don't pass them up. I ordered a chai and pistachio croissant dipped in pistachio chocolate. It was too pretty to eat and tasted delicious. read more

Multiple visits later, I can definitely say consistency is king here. Might be weird as this is a coffee place, but I actually am partial to the food offerings a little more than the beverages. I think it's the uniqueness and flavor that sucks me in. None the less, everything here has been great! Conveniently located and I've always found parking right in front. Cute interior design that is inviting and easy to work from. It's become a relatively regular place i frequent in town. read more

Came into CoffeeDrunk the other morning to drink coffee and get some computer work done, and I was pleasantly surprised by this coffee shop! I loved their selection of coffees. They had some really unique coffee drinks that I'm excited to try more of next time I visit. The space itself was super cute, and bigger than I expected. Although it was busy, I was able to easily find a seat. I love that they have bar chairs along the window, so it makes for a really great workspace. Lastly, it's a great working environment where they are playing light music, but it isn't too loud where it's distracting from work. read more

Drinks are 4/5 Service on the other hand 2/5 I always think the baristas are having an off day. But every time I've ordered from here over the past few weeks. The service is just not pleasant. I get it -- not everyone has a peppy attitude and im totally okay with that. But if you can give a wave and smile to a local resident passing by outside and not reciprocate the same energy with the customers inside, that makes me not want to come back. A few weeks ago, I was out this direction to pick up some bread from Gusto - when I noticed there was a sign for a nice looking coffee shop across the street, I figured I'd check it out while I was there. Price points are pretty similar to other nice coffee shops in Long Beach - a dollar extra for oat milk, which I wish wasn't the standard (especially since it's so much better for the environment!), but I can't fault them for it specifically, it does appear to be pretty standard. They have a seasonal menu, but I went for their flagship latte, the "Instigator" (with oat milk - sometimes it's just worth it.) Had it in my hand in like 3 minutes, and I can confirm - quality is absolutely up there with my favorite coffee places downtown. It's a pretty perfect espresso drink - rich, roasty, *just* sweet enough. Not that downtown *needs* more coffee shops, but let's say, if they were closer to downtown, they'd be in my usual rotation for sure. I will likely be back though, if I'm ever in the area at a time of day where I'm looking for coffee. read more

CoffeeDrunk on 4th St. Long Beach, CA is a great spot to enjoy innovated flavors of coffee. They have a variety of choices to try and extremely reasonable prices. Best of all, they have wonderful customer service!!! They were so friendly and helpful, and they even helped us by recommending popular choices! They provided us with their signature menu, and had seasonal options too. Danny went for a bold choice, as usual (the drink on the left). He ordered the Iced Blue Berry Brown Sugar latte with oat. Naty went for the barista's recommendation, ordering the claim to fame--The Instigator, which is espresso shaken with half maple and brown sugar with a touch oat milk. (Half maple not to make it overly sweet). This drink only comes iced! We also got pastries to recommend for those who enjoy some warm bread early in the morning!! We ordered the cheese, bacon, and onion scone and the morning Bun, a buttered bread topped with cinnamon and sugar. This place was super enjoyable and the atmosphere was relaxed, study approved! They're also animal friendly if you want to come here during your dog walks! ‍ We will definitely return and try different other options as the coffee taste was enjoyable. read more

Cute spot dog friendly outdoor seating (limited) didn't get to try the pastries or breakfast because they ran out (gotta get there early) I was there at maybe 1030 am. First time here was not disappointed by the instigator my gf had the horchata latte It was okay the taste was very subtle, I'm thinking it could've tasted better with oatmilk but had it with whole and it almost just tasted like milk with a hint of cinnamon and coffee. Cute cafe with lots of natural lighting and outlets. Love the bar seating that faces outside. Perfect for people watching. Most tables are for 2 people so keep that in mind. For studying/working it can get a little loud so I would recommend bringing headphones. Drinks are on the pricier side. The service here is great. They are always super fast making my drink even if there's a longer line. This could be a good spot for studying/doing work in the afternoon however it does close at 5 so not a good late night study spot. First of all CUSTOMER SERVICE 5 stars! First time coming in and the person taking the orders was extremely nice in explaining the drinks. I ended up trying the stinger It was so delicious! I ended up with half decaf shot and half regular shot. My mom tried the pistachio hot latte and it had the perfect hint of pistachio. We tried the vegan option for burrito (SOOO GOOD) I also tried a pastry that had potato( not sure what it's called, but 10/10)! I went around 11, so I would say it was pretty full, found two tables to sit it. Would definitely recommend and come back when I'm in LB. read more

Ok I only ever give good reviews (when deserved) but just to even out all those people who only ever take the time to review a place when they are angry. Way too many to count and it's disheartening. That said, I don't get to it immediately until today, the customer service here was outstanding...I wish I would've gotten the name of the girl who rang me up (we were talking about Tupac) and the guy who made my drink. They were both so kind and made me feel welcome, many times I'll walk into a new local coffee shop and since I'm not a regular, I end up feeling uncomfortable. Not here, they treated everyone the same and thank u for that. I got the Instigator over ice and it exceeded my expectations, their espresso is smooth and the drink has a little sweetness to it but it's not at all overpowering. This place is so far out of my way to anywhere but I'll def take the detour anytime! read more

Many of us have our regular favorite drinks! The restaurant is open from 8am-9pm. They serve breakfast/lunch then after 4pm dinner including their beloved pizza! I stopped in for a coffee and a side of bacon, and my total was almost $20. For such a simple order, that's hard to justify. I understand food costs have increased, but the pricing feels excessive compared to other local restaurants that serve quality food at much more reasonable prices. My biggest concern, however, is the impact the business has had on our neighborhood. Since Zuzu's Petals opened, we've noticed a significant increase in litter, much of it appearing to be food and drink packaging from the restaurant. Weekend traffic on the sidewalks has become overwhelming, customers often park in alleyways or in unsafe locations, and it has made our neighborhood much more difficult to navigate. We brought these concerns to an employee, but were told there wasn't much they could do. If this business truly wants to be part of the community, I hope they take more responsibility for the impact they're having on the surrounding neighborhood. Encouraging customers to park responsibly, helping keep the area clean, and offering more reasonably priced menu options would go a long way toward building goodwill with the people who actually live here. I always want local businesses to succeed, but right now I can't recommend Zuzu's Petals based on both my experience and the ongoing issues it's created for nearby residents. Also beach cleaning isn't cleaning our neighborhood. That's no support to our neighborhood. Maybe have a neighborhood clean up day instead.

If I could give Coffee Drunk a 6 star review, I would. The owner, my hardworking friend and boss, Breezy spent many tireless days and nights to perfect her coffee shop before the soft opening during the COVID pandemic. When you step into the shop, you can immediately see her hard work. The atmosphere in the shop is beautiful and simple I visited the shop with my 2 friends during the soft opening weekend on December 13th and there was a line out the door. Breezy and Johnny clearly make the best coffee in Long Beach. Being born and raised in LB, I knew for a fact Coffee Drunk was going to be a hit from day 1. The coffee is authentic and amazing. The menu food and drinks are funny and super creative. She made me my favorite, an iced matcha drink with oat milk. One sip and you're hooked!! I've came here multiple times with my own to-go coffee cup. Whether I'm given a "bring your own cup" discount or not, always depends on who is ringing me up. If I'm not given the discount that day, I just let it be. But during my recent visit, I brought my own cup as per usual and I noticed on the POS screen my cup discount wasn't accounted for. So I thought I'd just kindly ask, "Does Coffee Drunk give discounts when customers bring in their own cup?" And the cashier answered, "No, we don't" To management: Get your employees aligned. Obviously, some cashiers know to give a cup discount or someone's giving discounts when they're no supposed to. Either way, this is very misleading. read more

Just moved to Long Beach a couple months ago and finally trying out the 4th street shops! As a coffee enthusiast, this place is my new go-to. I also love that their coffee is imported from El Salvador, you can really taste the quality of the beans. It's a great place to study or get some work done, and the atmosphere is inviting. The outside stand with burritos is awesome and I secretly hope it's there when visiting. The selection of baked goods is very narrow. And it also seems like owner is trying to be on the safe side and not to be left with a few extra muffins in the end of the shift... The most basic bakery item, such as a plain croissant, would've been really helpful. Overall it's a good place.

The space just feels light and happy, and the drinks are on point. If ur not happy they are totally down to fix ur drink til you are. And they're delicious, I've had a few interesting creations including a strawberry latte that was made with love. The baristas here know what they're doing and they're slinging good coffee. Great place to meet up with a friend or catch up on work. It's a bit of a quieter space but a good neighborhood hang.

I ended up showing up around 12:40 and there were some people but not a whole lot. I was still able to fit me and my life at the table with my coffee. I landed on ordering the pistachio latte. I went on a whim with this because I'm such a Spanish latte girlypop. Ironicallly they're known for their Spanish latte, but I ordered the pistachio latte instead. We were feeling... experimental. And I'm so happy I did! I loved this coffee so much. I don't know what bean they use but it is amazing. It's so rich and smooth. The pistachio nut is nutty and more a background singer. Not overly sweet at all. It is definitely in one of my top coffees for sure. I definitely plan on coming back to this coffee shop for both the space and quality of coffee. Also I need to try the Spanish latte, duh. The only sad part was my friend ordered a blueberry donut & she said it tasted store bought and not good. I can't comment on that because I did not try it but I figured I would add it in here. There have a private room you can book as well! I didn't take a photo of it unfortunately but it's to the left of where the cashier is. Parking is on the street & they have two entrances. WiFi is available and I think there's 2 or 3 restrooms I don't remember lol

I placed a pickup order and it was ready in about 15 minutes. I stopped by around 1 PM, which seemed to be one of their busiest times. The employees looked super busy, and they may have been a little understaffed, but everyone was still friendly, calm, and professional. My food was ready first and the drinks came shortly after. Both the food and coffee were a solid 9/10 -- everything tasted fresh and delicious. It was definitely worth the wait. The only thing to keep in mind is parking. It appears to be mostly metered street parking, and I got lucky because the meter I parked at still had time left on it. Overall, great coffee, great food, and a really cute atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu! (p.s I got Cookie Butter Latte, Carrot Cake Latte, Sunrise Sandwich, Almond Butter Toast, Caprese Melt)

during my mission to try local coffee shops in long beach, i saw this place have high reviews and…read morewanted to check it out! i came here on a wednesday afternoon and it wasn't crowded at all, and there is a dedicated parking lot and plenty of street parking for ease. the worker was super nice and helpful in answering my questions. i ordered the lava me, which was a house made lavender syrup espresso, and i absolutely LOVED this drink! the coffee was suuuuper smooth, and the lavender flavor was really yummy and not overpowering. very addicting drink! i would definitely love to try the other flavors if i was ever in the area again.

Years ago, I received a gift card from Steelhead Coffee, but never made it a point to stop by any…read moreof their locations since there are much more coffee shops closer to me. I was planning a rare visit to the oceanfront, and along the way stood Steelhead on Broadway. Steelhead on Broadway is located on Broadway (duh! lol) and Redondo on the southwest corner of the intersection. It's in the very corner of the building next to Flamin' Curry and Baddeley's Pourhouse Sports Bar. When I came in, I was greeted by the barista, Ruben, who was busy making drinks for the steady flow of customers. His co-worker, Jacob, was at the register taking orders, fielding questions, and just making friendly conversation with the clientele. There isn't much standing room in front of the counter, so when there was another customer standing by the wall, I thought it was her turn to order until she mentioned she was clueless on what drink(s) to get. I was clueless as well, so I used the opportunity to ask Jacob a handful of questions like what the drink sizes looked like, what the Aerocano was, and what Cortado was. Jacob answered my questions with ease and well enough that I was sold on the Aerocano. Some of the drinks on the menu are offered in two or even three sizes, but the Aerocano is one of the drinks that only comes in one size, 12 oz in this case. Interestingly enough, the back of my gift card listed Steelhead Coffee's other two locations, but not this one, so I wasn't sure if my gift card would work here. Sure enough, it did, but after paying, the tablet mentioned I could earn 50 points for putting in my phone number. I wanted to ask about their rewards program, but before Jacob could finish answering, the tablet went to a different screen. Unfortunately, there was no way for Jacob to go back and retroactively apply my phone number to the last order. I probably would have been interested in joining the rewards program, but this stroke of bad luck was enough to deter me from joining. While all that was going on, Ruben prepared my Aerocano so fast that I didn't have to wait any longer to start sipping on the drink, which is pretty much a black coffee and doesn't come with cream or sugar. There was quite a bit of foam on top of the Aerocano, which was a little more than I preferred. Also, even though I was told ahead of time it'd be in a 12 oz cup, I still felt I could have used a little more drink and a little less ice for the price point, which I'd still say is reasonable for a quick pick-me-up. Jacob was very friendly and helpful! If I rated them based on service alone, it'd be an easy 5. I even witnessed him making friendly conversation with other customers, likely regulars. As I went up to take a second look at the menu, he asked if I liked the Aerocano, to which I replied "not too shabby". I think he also mentioned that he was willing to remake the drink if something went awry, but I was satisfied with the taste of the Aerocano drink overall. While I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any means, I don't think the Aerocano was that much different than a traditional Americano; like there are some subtle nuances between the two drinks that I wouldn't be able to describe, but I'm sure the connoisseurs could. Ruben was friendly too, greeting me as I entered through the front door. I did witness him crossing Redondo while I was enjoying my Aerocano, leaving Jacob as the lone barista in the shop for just a few minutes. But even on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't that busy that they could afford to take breaks like that. Inside the coffee shop, they have four round tables, each of which could seat two, as well as a couple of bar-style tables by the window. Between these bar-style tables is a small refrigerator of grab & go drinks like Olipop and Harmless Harvest. There are also five shelves of merch next to one of these tables, and I'm assuming this merch is for sale. They also have four two-seater tables outside if you prefer to sip your coffee/tea al fresco. They also serve some baked goods here. While I was placing my order, Jacob asked if I'd like any, but I didn't see any price tags on them. I was curious how much they cost, and he estimated between $4 and $8. I had just eaten a rather large lunch, so I passed on the baked goods. I also saw a couple of customers come in with their dogs, so they seem to be friendly to dogs as well. Parking was anything but easy. They don't have a parking lot in the immediate vicinity, so I had to circle around a few neighboring blocks before I found a spot on 1st St. I probably won't make a return visit since I don't find myself in this part of town as often, but if you do live nearby, I highly recommend patronizing Steelhead Coffee for a quick pick-me-up. I still have a remaining balance on my gift card, so I'll be looking forward to exhausting the remaining funds at the other two locations. Recommended!
