The service was TERRIBLE!! An hour out of our day we will NEVER get back. On Saturday 5/29/21, we walked in were seated at a table then after about 10 minutes, the waitress came over and took our drink order. About 15 minutes later, a family of 4 came in and was seated at the table next to us to have their waitress take their drink and appetizer order. As we sat there WAITING in the course of the hour, we saw others around us eating and drinking as we attempted to patiently wait. Tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but clearly it was too much for the waitress who was attending our area to handle. I'm pretty upset that my first review of this restaurant was removed. I've made food reviews on here pretty often of various restaurants in town and out of town. I've been here several times since they've opened and have not been disappointed by the foods, service, presentation and cleanliness of the place. I often drop by to eat in or order out because I'm too exhausted to cook after work. They always greet you with a smile, the food reminds me of home cooked meals. The presentation of their food always looks amazing and the tastes hasn't disappointed me yet. I went back with my family for some Lao style papaya salad today. The hubs had combination pho, a melon boba slushy and I also had the duck egg noodle soup. The pho portions were huge and the broth was delicious, not oily at all. I wanted to try some dessert but was too stuffed after stuffing myself with all the yumminess. I will definitely save my appetite for the dessert on our next visit! The location was a little hard to find, as the Yelp map points to the street across but we followed the signs into the dialysis plaza and spotted the spacious outdoor seating. This place has the BEST curry in town. You can order according to which meat and how spicy you want it. They also serve the most delicious duck pho. The pad thai noodles and appetizers are SUPER yummy. The broth in the soups are VERY flavorful. The staff is nice and friendly. The restaurant is bright and clean. I'd give them 5 stars because the food is good, however the service is awful. If you call most of the time no one picks up the phone. If you get take out make sure they got your order right before you go home because in my experience they have messed up several times ( now I check) if you go inside be prepared to wait an eternity lol. Coconut Cafe is delicious Thai in Merced. We have quite a few places to choose from. The way they prepare their dishes are different from others, in fact they all differ in their own way. Which makes Coconut Cafe unique. The food here is always good and flavorful. The wait staff and wait times are my only gripe. It always seems that they are always flustered. There are other places in Merced that has better Green Curry (in my opinion). I would try a different dish instead. - Korean BBQ: 2 out of 5 There wasn't enough flavor in the meat itself. We came here for some pho, but turns out they were already out so we ended up just staying since it was already late. Took forever for food to come out even though they weren't even busy. We ordered Lao style papaya salad which was very spicy and wasn't even good (other places usually asks how many pepper, but this place didn't even bother asking). We also ordered chicken chow mein which was full of veggies and very little noodles. Their pad thai noodles was hard and my daughter choked on it. Their pad kee mao was wet and very spicy as well. It was our first and definitely our last time eating here. The only good thing about this place is the server was nice and she took the pad Thai off our bill which is only right because we didn't even get to eat it. I'm not sure why Merced has so many Thai restaurants, but none stands out. Would rather take a drive to Stockton for some good Thai food. read more
