It's been a while since I've eaten at this place but the tacos are the best I've had so far--the handmade tortilla just has something special compared to other restaurants I've tried. My favorite was the fish tacos & the ceviche (not pictured). But you can tell the food was freshly made--like a home-cooked meal. One of my favorite taco places & I will definitely be back whenever I'm in the area again. 10/10 for the food. I think the environment could use some touching up and the service was okay. My Spanish was mediocre but I'm glad the person working got my order. There was only one person working and she was doing everything (cooking, making tortillas, taking orders, cashiering etc.)--so props to her. Almost gave up on it because I wasn't able to find it right away but thank God I didn't. So it's a pretty small place couple pub tables inside and a bench outside so don't expect a big restaurant but def worth it. The food is made fresh , hand made tortillas for tacos . Love the shrimp tacos with chiptole sauce! Very flavorful! They make fresh homemade tortillas for shrimp tacos . The tortilla is thick and best to eat it fresh. Not too shabby! I'm personally not a big fan of mariscos but two of my friends love this place and I've never been, so decided to give it a try. I honestly thought I wouldn't like it. I absolutely loved it!! I ordered the Camarones en crema. Let me tell you, these beautiful, meaty, butterfly shrimp were perfectly coated in a chipotle cream sauce, placed on a bed of sauteed onions and bell peppers. One guy that didn't speak Spanish was trying to order something and the lady didn't understand him, one guy helped her with the order, she STILL got it wrong! Anyways, the lady was by herself and she got mad people we're asking her questions, she was under pressure, but it is NOT the customers fault. She is responsible of how she runs the business. I'm top of the that she was taking care of a child inside the place. Very bad service. There are few other restaurants with seafood to go in town. They are way too unorganized. I called my order in the lady tells me 15 minutes. I show up 25 minutes later and my order was not even started on. They used to really be on it. Plus the prices are not listed correctly on the menu. I ordered an asada quesadilla listed at 5.99 it came out to almost 8. It is not worth it. $7 for a shrimp tostada. OMG! This place had the best ceviche and shrimp tacos! Happened to be in the area and looking for something to eat, searched Yelp and food and reviews looked good, but we did not expect this good. Husband and I went to La Playa yesterday for the first time. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and he got the carne asada quesadilla. It was near closing time when we arrived so they were in the process of cleaning up. Even though this is technically a taqueria, the employees are super accommodating and seem to want you to enjoy your meal. My shrimp cocktail was the best I have had in a very long time. The shrimp was fresh and they gave A LOT of it! I tried Husband's quesadilla, the carne asada had a good flavor and was tender. The only thing they didn't have was chips and salsa. I tried the new sit down restaurant and I should have just left immediately. My waitress asked for drink order but immediately walked outside to argue with her boyfriend outside. She stayed outside yelling with him for 10 minutes and another waitress reluctantly helped. And by help, I mean took order but never got any food. I was there an hour and fifteen minutes without ever receiving food. Such a disappointment. In our group half of us never got our orders. And the half who got their food were not happy with the quality and taste of food. One person even got a wrong order. A complete waste of time. I ordered take out and was helped by a lady. She was nice and wasn't rushing me. My boyfriend ordered their ceviche and I ordered their aguachiles. We didn't order much and paid $30 +. It wasn't a big deal because it's seafood so it was some what reasonable to an extent. We got home and the ceviche was really good. So I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend who raved about the fish taco he got there. I was helped as soon as I walked into the place and I ordered 3 Asada tacos. The lady making my tacos pressed and cooked all of my tortillas fresh and then proceeded to make 3 very good asada tacos. On the recommendation of my buddy I got some of the sauce they put on their fish tacos and tried it and it was very good.
