We heard lots of good things about Atwater sushi so we decided to try it out - clean and nice and cool and they have and outdoor dining area cute and good for a cool summer night , our server was super attentive and very nice . The food was delicious and fun to try . Ordered both the sushi rolls and bento boxes ! The salmon teriyaki was perfect and the chicken Katsu was nice and crispy- everything was flavorful and we definitely will return for our next date night. Here are the basics. I like the food here, but consistency is the name of the game. We try to go fairly regularly, but they never seem to have essential ingredients. Every time we go, there is a long list of what they don't have. When you try to go five months in a row and every time they are out of something essential(tempura, cream cheese, ect.) you get frustrated. The service is spotty at best, but used to be better. Not sure why the decline. The menus are also too complicated with too many items that are not even carried any more. I like clean, easy to read menus with no "land mines". A land mine menu is when things are crossed out or I can't get an item due to its essential ingredients are missing. In its prime, it was worth checking out, but the price doesn't equate to the experience. Not a high recommendation anymore. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Called in and placed an order. The lady asked for extra sauce on the side of my roll and they charged me for extra sauce on all the rolls and when the order was picked up the bag was tied off. When we opened the package the tempura hand rolls were covered in unagi and spicy mayo (person eating those is allergic) and we called and someone went back to pick up the remade hand rolls. They then proceeded to tell her that she would have to pay because we didn't communicate clearly what we wanted. They refused to remake her 2 hand rolls ($12) to correct their error. They also charged $2 for sauce on the hand rolls we DIDN'T ORDER. On my other roll they charged me .50¢ twice for a sauce that's already on it and then another .50¢ twice for the sauce I wanted on the side. And they also didn't deep fry my roll which I confirmed with the girl that answered the phone. What an expensive lesson I learned. I'll make sure to pass this around to the rest of my peers so they know to go to kings in Merced instead of this crap ass place read more
