Orange chicken combo
Jennifer S.

Recently, I ended up at Hao's Kitchen, because the taco truck I'd driven all the way to Planada for was unexpectedly closed. After looking through the photos and scouring reviews from some of my other favorite Elites, I decided to order the Orange Chicken lunch combo. For $12.99, it came with a huge serving of chicken chow mein, and smaller servings of pork fried rice and fresh fried orange chicken doused in sauce. I was told to wait about ten to fifteen minutes, but it seemed to come out much faster than that. Although I was distracted by my phone, I don't think I waited longer than eight minutes. The chicken was so hot and fresh that I had to wait several minutes before I could actually eat it. It was definitely cooked well, and all the way through. The sauce was tangy and amazing, and tasted homemade. It reminded me of some of the places my mom took me to in LA when I was little. I loved the pork fried rice, although it was a little greasy. I loved the noodles, which were even greasier, a little less. I didn't love the flavor of the noodles as much as the rest of the plate. They were kind of on the bland, greasy side. The cashier had asked me if I wanted any sauce, and, since I don't order Chinese food very often, I couldn't think of any sauces. Later, I wished I had asked for a little soy sauce (for the rice) and sweet and sour sauce (also for the rice, and for the noodles). For the price, the combo is a pretty good deal. A certain Chinese fast food chain charges significantly more for the same amount of food, ounce per ounce. If I had a choice, I would have rather had more rice and less noodles. I also wished there was an option for a smaller order of cream cheese wontons-- the only option was 8 pieces for $9. Overall, I thought this place was pretty good, and am glad I stopped by to try it out.

Combination plate; orange chicken, fried rice, and chow mein

Food is very fresh, and great taste. My kids got the beef and broccoli, they loved it and I got the orange chicken plate and same it was very good. I do feel they put more chow mein and rice instead of equal portions but other than that it was great! We will be returning

I had no idea this place existed. Let me tell you everything was Delicious joy pictured are some fried appetizers that were spot on and I could have honestly made a meal out of them. This place doesn't look like much outside or inside but the service was fast friendly and most importantly it all tasted amazing! We will definitely be stopping next time we're in town.

I moved from Los Angeles to Merced, my husband and I missed the variety of Asian cuisine food. We googled this place and it was the closest thing to Chinese fast food. We order and of course Chinese food at Merced is a bit more expensive than L.A. as I order the plate I ordered, the cashier took our debit card and gave us the receipt. I notice later that she helps the kitchen as well, because there weren't many customers. Later on, she touches my rice and other orders of rice with her hand to keep the perfect "ball" form I guess. I couldn't believe it. I told my husband and he said "no way" but then he sees her later touching some other persons rice with her hand...... like why? You're touching money, debit cards, the phone, and not washing your hands...... I've never seen anything like this. I don't know, you guys be the judge this time. I just reviewing what happened this time. I'm not saying anything more.

The Mongolian beef is amazing! Try it! They also give you different levels of spicy or you can get mild. Portions are big!

Walking in on a Saturday afternoon (it was almost 3PM when we entered), you're met with a check-in counter. The inside is decorated much like a typical Chinese restaurant: round tables w a lazy susan, dark moody carpet, and infrastructure/roof tiling on the back wall that makes it look like we're dining right outside a traditional cafe in China. We were quickly seated and brought a regular menu and a dim sum menu. I liked that the dim sum menu contained pictures for easy point and order. But instead of pointing like a normal person, I brought out my broken Canto to order and I think I impressed uncle enough to get a complimentary bowl of egg flower soup lol. We ended up ordering: - Orange chicken lunch special: this comes with white rice or you can upgrade to fried rice or chow mein for an extra dollar. SO upgraded to chow mein and the plate that came out was HUGE. Was not expecting such a large portion, but I am not complaining at all. The chicken was sauced perfectly and he said the noodles were aight. - Ha gow (shrimp dumpling): these had thicker wrapping, but the dumplings themselves were stuffed. Good flavor - Shu mai (pork and shrimp dumpling): meaty, yummy. The skins sorta stuck to the bottom container though - Fong zhao (chicken feet): super delicious, but only came with 3 measly claws - Ham sui gok (fried glutinous rice pork dumpling): fried mochi goodness with delicious meat filling (even if the filling was a little sparse) - Gou choy gow (chive dumpling): my personal favorite dim sum dish; the one here was not my favorite, but it did its job. - Salt and pepper pork spareribs: we ordered this as an alternative when they told me they were out of their pineapple custard bun (bolo bao)... don't ask me how I went from dessert to this, but I liked it. The meat was kinda thin, but the flavor was there. We happened to have our meal right when the staff was having theirs right behind us. So by the time we were ready for the check, we kind of sat around waiting for someone to check on us. Our total came to about $60. I noticed that 2 of the dim sum dishes were marked as "large", at about $6.10 per dish. I wish this was posted on the dim sum menu somewhere... I only saw the $5.50 price tag. Overall, Dynasty Garden nostalgically reminds me of home, so I would definitely return.

Tasty or WasteY? A little bit of both !!!…read moreI love this place because it's clean, quiet, and the service is great. What I don't like is their garlic chicken, should be called, spicy garlic, chicken skin! There is rarely any pieces of chicken when I order this. I rarely order it because it has no chicken. I don't know why they call it garlic chicken. It's a deep fried chicken, skin and fat. Somebody should talk to the owner about this and start adding chicken to this dish. I like everything else at the restaurant the atmosphere and the cleanliness. But sometimes trying to go cheap on a chicken plate by not putting the chicken doesn't make any sense to me. I would recommend a lot of dishes, except anything with garlic chicken in it.

I think these days it's hard to find a meal deal for this price with this portion size. I had ordered the Orange Chicken. My meal came with a ton of fried rice (I opted for no chow mein) and plenty of meat. I actually didn't finish the rice and soup, I was pretty full by the end. The fried rice wasn't too bad, pretty standard. The soup a tad bland but it was OK. I wish the egg roll came out the same time as the rest of the food but I'm guessing they forgot it initially. Anyways it was piping hot when it came out with a nice crisp. As for the chicken itself, the sauce wasn't really spicy although it had the spicy symbol. And I wish it was more crunchy, it was mostly lacking in crunch with just a couple of pieces being decently crunchy. I had expected this would happen because I thought it came out way too quick. As for service, there were 2 people ahead of me in line I believe and after the woman working the counter finished up with them, I was promptly seated. She was always smiling and was very pleasant the whole time. As for the interior, there was plenty of seating and tables and it was clean enough. The positives: great price/portion size lunch deal, quick and pleasant service. The negatives: need better timing and crunchier orange chicken.

Friendly, courteous staff, fast service and freshly crafted to order. No stale heatlamp stuff here! A warm, lovely scent of fresh food greets you when you step inside! Not fancy, but it fit the bill! I ordered "Jim's Special Wonton Noodle Soup" #174, with the Mei Fen noodles. Helen threw in breaded mushrooms & beef plus a couple egg rolls. It was a lovely surprise. Fresh & crisp, soft inside and exploding with flavor. When Helen walked in with the Wonton Soup, I was wowed by the generous meat portions and all the right ingredients. The broth had the slightest hint of classic seasonings and maybe the tiniest touch of Chinese hot mustard?... which I love!! They don't skimp, big portions! The only "downside" (if you wanna call it that) is that canned drinks are between $3 & $4, which I suppose is quite normal these days anyway. I usually drink water (or table tea) with Chinese food, so I was unfazed, but commenting on that for info only. Overall, GREAT. Highly recommend! I'll be back!
