I visited this Save Mart location on Thursday, August 13, at around 8 PM and left extremely disappointed with the service I received. I asked an employee named Rosemary, who was working as a cash handler, for help. She told me she couldn't assist me because her only job was to help people in the cashier line. Her response was rude and unprofessional, especially considering it happened in front of other customers. She did not represent the company well at all. Thankfully, an employee named Jessica stepped in and was incredibly kind, helpful, and patient. She turned the experience around, and honestly, every employee at this store could learn a thing or two from her example of good customer service. Because of Jessica, I'm giving this visit 2.5 stars instead of 1. But the treatment I received from Rosemary was enough to make me reconsider shopping here. I'd rather take my business to Walmart than deal with that kind of attitude on a regular basis. read more

Everytime I go to this Savemart. It runs me wrong. The produce is soft and sometimes moldy. I really dislike that Walmart or Savemart or produce options in Atwater. And the meat department particularly always has the worst attitude. And I'll name drop one the employee Cameron. Worst customer service. I don't know about merceds savemart but Atwater's store is the very worst store. Ever since they sold and resold the food is so disgusting. 3 times I've looked at blue, green, black mold on frozen food, and so called fresh food. I bought eggs a few months ago and a week after I purchased I found 6 eggs black inside, shell and egg both. I refuse to buy food there. Will only by non food items. So gross. read more

Save Mart has the best selection, I don't care that they're price are higher I still shop there but im reconsidering because the workers are unfriendly especially the cashiers sometime they don't say a single word to me while checking out. The WORST and MOST OVERPRICED store in Atwater with the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Numerous times I have found them selling old expired meat. Insane how expensive it is for the quality of food and service you get. Register lines are always backed up. The only good thing about the store is the sushi they sell which is a separate business with good customer service. Trust me or you can find out for yourself how outrageous awful the prices and service and quality of some food is. Was visiting the area between June 28 and July 5. Stopped by the Save Mart in Atwater, CA and was pleasantly surprised! Great selection of foods, drinks, and grocery store items. Prices were reasonable. Store was clean and cashier was pleasant and friendly. Will shop here again when I visit the area in the future. NOTE: Nice to see the Save Mart family of stores now owns Lucky Markets! That is a name from my childhood. My mother would take me with her shopping at Lucky Market in South gate, CA back in the 70's....she and I really enjoyed shopping at that market. read more

I shop here about once a week. Their prices are definitely not as cheap as Super Walmart, but this is my go-to spot for last minute pick-me-ups. The clerks and cashiers are normally pleasant and helpful. Kathleen, however, is rude. She will not smile or acknowledge/greet you. She will just give you your total. (I believe she's the rude cashier that other reviewers were complaining about.) I would complain to management - but she seems like she's an "OG" there and nothing will be done about it. The check-out station is her throne, I'm sure. Nonetheless, I would still recommend this store for last minute items and their produce/deli. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at this store until today. I purchased two jars of sandwich spread today. On my way home I stopped at Food For Less and found that the same item was $2 less per jar. (Same expiration date) I called Save Mart and spoke to Dominic.... the "Head" Clerk and asked for a refund of the difference. He responded with a very arrogant tone in saying "We cannot do that, what you can do is come in and I will give you your money so that you can buy it somewhere else". I told him that I thought they would match the price because during my previous visit, the checker was happily explaining that Save Mart was restructuring their pricing to compete with WalMart. He mumbled something about price points then said he could return my money. A little later I went back to Save Mart and stood at the service desk. After a couple of minutes, Dominic says in his sarcastic tone, "Do you need something"? I thought to myself, "Do people normally hang out at the service counter for fun"? This store has a great selection of local produce, fresh meat, and alcohol at prices that rival others in the area. You can save yourself a large amount of money here on a regular basis if you stay current on the weekly sales ads and shop smart. I've bought plenty of items here on a buy one get one free special and have also saved even more money by using manufacturers coupons on top of the already discounted prices. Friendliest grocery store in town. Great customer service and great quality produce. Alway have specials and sales throughout the store. Awesome bakery, produce dept, bakery, deli, and meat dept. The meat dept will custom cut any meat to your liking, and they have great selection. The deli had a wide selection of fresh salads and fresh cut deli meats and they make great sandwiches. The bakery bakes fresh breads, cakes, cookies and other goodies all day long. The best thing about this story is the it is super clean. read more

Great costumer service... Cheapest and most delicious fried chicken in town! Also, I am a big fan of the rewards system they have. Almost every Friday the rewards app will give you a "Freebie Friday" which is one free item of course chosen by them. I had a similar experience where I thought how rude and abrupt the clerk had been. On reflection, however, I got to thinking about the stress they must be under having to deal with everyone who comes in, wondering if this is the person who hasn't been careful. Decent selection, most of the staff is friendly and helpful, average prices, and is well designed with a ceiling that looks like the sky and an airplane in the cement when you first walk in. Save Mart often offers a promotion where if you buy $25/50/75/100 worth of food you get a free item for each amount reached. Surprisingly these items are quality and often used items such as a clamshell of strawberries or a 5lb bag of potatoes. I don't know of another store giving away free food just for doing your normal shopping. My main complaint is not enough of a organic/health food selection. There is nothing special about this Save Mart. It is like any other one of the standard Save Mart Grocery Stores except it's actually clean! The people here are friendly at checkout but nobody is around to actually assist you if you are looking around for anything. Aside from the cleanliness of this location, there is a unique beer selection station where you can pick a six pack and fill it with whichever beer you'd like for $9.00. That is a pretty good deal if you pick good beer ofcourse,lol. This is my favorite store to shop at as they have the best produce and usually at good prices. Their meat and bakery department have always been fantastic. When I do not make my kid's birthday cakes I order from their bakery, which never disappoints. Their clerks are usually very helpful and nice, but I have noticed a few select baggers never offer to help you outside. In fact, two ladies will try to avoid eye contact or leave right away to avoid being asked. However, most the time the baggers are great and helpful. read more
