    Shrimp wrapped in blanket

Ate here on a late Monday night, there business hours said they closed at 830 but when we got there at roughly 730 we were told they were closing at 8 so we had to hurry up and order. Was a little taken back but didn't really have too much of an issue with that since I already look at the menu or places before go, so we had a good idea of what we wanted already. We got the Pad Se Ew combo noodles, Combo Thai fried rice, and Shrimp in a blanket. Everything came out nice and fresh and the portions were enough to share with another person. It was also nice that for the noodles they don't put spice in it already, they have sauces on the table for you to make it how ever spicy you want. Everything tasted great! I would love to come back and eat here earlier to really get a better feel for the place. But for them getting ready to close the food was good.

Food wasn't all that great. Food was on time as promised. Papaya salad was bland, tasted like water and fish sauce only. Crispy pork belly under salted. Good portion of rice. The Chicken wings were only party wings and not full wings.

This place always hits the spot. My go to is the chicken fried rice and veggie egg rolls. The cashier was the nicest asking about my day but I didn't catch her name the service here is always great but today was just a take out day. The ambiance in the restaurant was amazing with music playing and they were packed!!

We tried to get a table at Mr pho but it was too long of a wait. I had heard good things about this place. Very clean restaurant. It's definitely more Thai than Vietnamese. My wife really enjoyed the food. I prefer Mr pho. It's definitely worth a try. The service was ok.

I came here for lunch with my mom and sister while visiting the food was really good. The service was nice. The food came relatively fast. I just wish I got my food a little bit more spicier, but it was all very good.

Came here for a late lunch and left feeling so Thai-food satisfied! The SO and I were in Merced for the day and ended up coming to Coconut Cafe about 45 minutes before they closed for siesta. We were seated immediately in a small booth. The inside looked like it was getting ready to turn down for their hour break between lunch and dinner (lights off, only natural light peeking through). There's a very cute flower wall for the aesthetic, but mostly it is very industrial with exposed ceilings and some really cool-looking steampunk-esque sconces dotting the walls. We ordered: Thai coffee - great pick-me-up; creamy and caffeinated as it should be Mango slush - tasted like artificial mango (per the SO) like powdery, we would probably skip this one next time Chicken satay - comes with 4 skewers and peanut sauce - pretty basic Chicken chow mein - SO said this tasted great Priew wahn with chicken - very saucy, would probably order this with a different protein next time Pad thai with chicken - SO loved the taste of this one and wished he had ordered this for himself. I loved the huge portion and that I could add my own amount of spice to it using the spices available at our booth. Roasted duck red curry - super flavorful and had plenty of fatty duck pieces. A tiny bit spicy, but so delicious Everything came out timely and piping hot. Service was basic but the ladies were nice. In the end, Coconut Cafe is definitely on my radar to return! I must try their other dishes!

Best Thai food in Merced! The fried rice was delicious I got it with level 7 spice and it had a nice kick to it. If you like spice make sure to try the chili oil on the table. The spring rolls were also fresh and a good start to the meal.

There was 9 of us. We ordered drunken noodles, panang chicken, crisp tofu, chicken pad Thai, pineapple rice, shrimp pad Thai. The heat was medium but the panang was a little hotter than we expected, but very nice. The noise level was almost nonexistent. Warning: they close at 7:30 p.m. Plenty of parking. We had a great time sharing plates and sharing conversation.

Chicken pad Thai spicy level 4

Pad Thai was so good! I got level 4 spicy and half way through it got spicy for me. It's probably a mild spicy I don't handle spice all that well but I still enjoyed my food. Definitely going back!!!

The food was so good I cannot even describe it. I got the pad see ew and cannot rate it higher. Service was excellent and they were very friendly and helpful even when full. Ambiance had nice music and it was not very loud within the restaurant with all the people.

The quality of food here is top notch! Located at the corner of Highway 59 and Buena Vista, this restaurant might be a little weird to get to for your first time. However, there's plenty of parking available and the restaurant is a long row of booths and comfy seating. My mom loves the pho broth here because it isn't overly salty like some of the other local restaurants, and it doesn't make you feel bloated. There's also a lot of protein served with the noodles. My usual go-to dishes are the Green Curry and Yum Neau (Beef Salad). Both are absolutely delicious and I'd recommend the green curry if you want something heavier and savory, and the beef salad if you want something light and crisp. Additionally, this is the only Thai restaurant in Merced to offer crispy pork belly! It's absolutely delicious and the dipping sauce works so well with the fatty taste of the pork. It's the one dish I HAVE to order every time I eat here. The only thing preventing this place from getting 5-stars from me is that the kitchen is sometimes a little slow to get food out. The servers are attentive but it's not their job to get the food cooked faster. I think if the restaurant nails that down and gets the flow in the kitchen to be a bit smoother and quicker, then they'd have a top spot among the many Thai restaurants in Merced!

"side salad" = 4 pieces of cucumber Honestly had me cracking up trying to decipher the meaning of a salad
    Edward C.

I visited this restaurant before while visiting Merced, previously I tried their curry which was pretty good, This time around, I decided to go for their BBQ chicken, which the menu described w/ side of rice and "side salad". To say the least , I was quite disappointed. (Side salad was literally a slice of cucumber cut into 4 pieces) The chicken was not seasoned and to make things worse it tasted as it had just came right out of the fridge, and quickly heated up. The fridge taste on the chicken was disturbing and left me feeling quite unpleasant... I tried to add the chili sauce to cover the taste and there was a hair in the sauce . Ugh.

Great Laos/Thai restaurant. As expected, food was spicy and has that traditional tastes. Family owned, friendly and delicious food.

This restaurant is off of Mitchell, which is a busy street, so it is easy to get to. It is part of a large shopping center so lots of parking. The restaurant itself it pretty spacious and has lot of seating. Could very well accommodate a larger group. We were greeted and seated right away. The lady that seated us was very pleasant and met us at the table with iced water and our menus. We ordered: 1. Thai teas: refreshing and delicious. 2. House Special: came with fried shrimp, fried broccoli, Laos sausage, fried chicken, beef jerky and fried egg roll. All fried to perfection and a great plate to purchase to appease most palates. 3. Large sticky rice: which is a must! 4. Laos papaya salad (mild): this comes with 6 Thai chilies and was perfect heat. It comes with a side of fresh cabbage. It was all the things we needed the salad to be. The sauce was dark in color, salty and that danky goodness! 5. Laos sausage: ordered this on accident because I didn't realize there was some sausage that came on the house special platter which was fine because we knew we were taking stuff home. 6. Crispy pork belly: marinated perfectly and fried to perfection. Dipping sauce complimented it well. So much food and I believe the bill came in under $90. A good amount of food, delicious and filling. Glad we stumbled upon this place and don't think it will be our last visit!

I saw that this place was open later and it was not Mexican food. That's the majority of the food around heres. We looked inside as we parked. Ok, not terribly busy. We were hungry and looking forward to some good Thai food. By the way, there is plenty of parking and it's super easy to get to from 99. Mike sat us down quickly. It's not a huge place, but there's enough seating to dine in. We sat in a booth. He served us our waters and menus. We ordered the red curry with chicken and pad thai with chicken. Both with medium heat. We wanted mango sticky rice, but Mike was not happy with the mangoes and did not want to serve them. I appreciate that he valued quality of food for his customers over making a buck. He apparently got slammed with online orders just before we arrived. He offered us some free appetizers since he felt it was taking longer than usual. We actually declined. Bestie and I were catching up and honestly didn't notice that the food was taking a while to make it to our table. It was a nice gesture from Mike. As the food came out it all looked great. We dug in and yum. Being from the Bay Area and now living in the Portland OR area, I have a certain standard with the food I consume. Honestly, I was not expecting too much from a place in Ceres. I've traveled to many small towns throughout the country. But I was pleasantly surprised that this place was up to par. And you know what topped it off? Mike's personality. He was such a pleasure to chat with. Me, him and my bestie had some good laughs while eating this great food. I love having my "go to" places while I travel and I think this is my spot now. Thanks Mike, me and "Kimmy" will definitely visit again. And hopefully mangoes will be in season.
