Came here for dinner on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy. Ordered the fresh spring rolls (a bit pricy) and spicy green beans (rice not included). Bf got the pad kee mow which had good spicy flavor. Green beans were lightly cooked which I requested. They were good, but missing some flavor. Server was nice and ambiance was fine. Prices ok. Located in a small strip mall with small lot. read more

We got vegan pad kee mow and vegan pad khing tofu. The vegan pad khing tofu comes with tofu, mushroom, ginger, onion, garlic, and bell pepper. I really liked this dish. We got steamed rice to pair. Next I tried the vegan pad kee mow and especially after the previous dish, the spice level on this really hit! I would say it's definitely on the spicier of spicy side. My partner eventually got hit halfway through the dish where the spice really started accumulating. Both were very delicious though! We came in on 4th of July for lunch and it was very busy. There was just one server so there was a bit of a longer wait for us to order after we were seated, but I could see how busy she was, seating people, checking out their bills, answering the phone, serving dishes, and handling takeout orders. Eventually towards the second half of our meal, a second server arrived. Empty tables got cleared much faster. We were just passing through Merced so very glad to have found this Thai spot with yummy vegan options as opposed to resorting to some unhealthy fast food. I recommend! read more

This coffee is delicious!!!! The Vietnamese coffee is slightly salted but sweet, and the banana top is delicious. Mix the 2 in and it's like sipping on a slightly thick smoothie. Both the coffee and the banana complement one another! Will definitely be coming in to try other drink combinations in the future. I also tried the combo pad thai and it was good! One thing I did notice is that the pad thai here has a generous portion of protein. I don't think I had a single bite that didn't have a piece of protein in it! Unfortunately I forgot to snap a picture of my pad thai. read more

We intended to make a visit to The Papaya Lady but she was closed. Lucky for us this place was not. Parking lot is a little tight as this shopping center is small and have quite a few tenants that warrant a lot of visitors. We walked in and were greeted immediately and told we could choose where to sit. This place is quaint and intimate. Some booths and some tables. There were a few patrons. We were given some water and our menus right away. We ordered the following: 1. Papaya Salad, medium. You can choose from Thai style or Laos style. We went with Laos. The sauce was dark and pungent..so you know it was delicious. 2. Eggplant sauté and had them add fried tofu. It was delicious. Eggplant was a beautiful shade of purple. Dish was well seasoning. 3. 2 orders of sticky rice. 4. Thai Hot Wings topped with a Thai sweet chili sauce and fried Thai basil. Chicken was well seasoned, fried crispy and sauce was finger lickin good. You get like 3 whole chicken wings per order. They cut the drum from the flat and I think it makes it easier to eat and ensures maximum crispness. 5. Thai Iced Tea was refreshing and just what was needed to calm the taste buds that were in fire. Waitress was attentive. Inside of the restaurant clean. The bathroom was well stocked with papertowels and was clean. I highly recommend if you are passing thru and need to stretch your legs and get a bite to eat. read more

I had gone there a few times and always not bad. Then I went there and ordered Duck Pho. I got like 5 little pieces of duck skin and hardly any noodles. What? I told the waitress, do you see how little this is? She told me prices went up and they had to do that. Well, I'm paying the higher price? Shouldn't I get the same amount of food? I will never ever go there again. Somehow, I feel like they didn't like us? I forgot to mention the crappy parking. Take your cappy car for sure. read more

Went here for a late lunch and this place was great. They have a wide variety of options, and we liked every single item we ordered. I'm usually not a fan of soup noodles but tom yum pho looked appetizing from the reviews and because it has my fav lemongrass soup. It was so great that I couldn't stop eating even after I was full. The Thai coconut juice is nothing but coconut water with pieces of tender coconut. The shrimp rolls were different from what I ate before, I had it with the hot Chilli sauce placed on the table. Avocado smoothie is great but heavy! It's a small place that provides great taste, read more

Service was wonderful and quick. We were traveling and food was done in 10 to 15 minutes. But the best part was the flavor and freshness of the food. We eat Thai food quite often and this literally was up there with authenticity and tastiness. From the outside the place looks small and demure, but the people, service, and food are amazing. We even heard the story behind the owners. Definitely try it! read more

I walked in and wasn't acknowledged at all. I stood there for several minutes with no greeting or indication that anyone would be helping me. A worker came out at one point to give firefighters their food, but still said nothing to me--as I stood there. After waiting a bit longer with no acknowledgment, I decided this wasn't the place for me to have lunch and left. Very disappointing experience. read more

Arrived for lunch 1ish. A young woman was the only person for the whole place. It's not that big, but she was good at keeping up with everyone. The portions were either big or small. Hubby ordered the combination noodle soup, large. It was a it said, large. I ordered the full order Yellow Curry, which actually came with rice - most charge extra. The full size was quite small in my opinion, but none the less, the taste was on point! I was super happy with the spice level. Normally it's too much on just a standard basis, but this was perfect. For someone who prefers a not-so- spicy curry, it was great. The Thai tea was mixed right. The milk and tea did not overpower each other. Overall, we will be back. The only thing I would recommend is a half size larger portion on the curry. See you soon Thai Cuisine! read more

My favorite place to get Chow Mein, Orange Chicken and White Sticky Rice! I order takeout and it's always ready in 10-15 mins!

My girlfriend and I visited this place on a weekday and it was a solid Thai spot. The host/waitress is nice and greets you as soon as you walk in. I always get the pad Thai and it always tastes good. The orange chicken is also a top choice it always comes with a lot of flavor and isn't dry. Overall the spot is solid. read more

I thought the restaurant was nice and pretty clean. The waiter was polite and did not give us any trouble. For food, I had the curry fried rice. It was my first time having that at a restaurant before and I thought it tasted pretty good. I thought the curry was simmered pretty well in the rice and made a delicious meal. I would come back again to try more of the recipes. read more

my 2 daughters and I were starving after thanksgiving Costco shopping. We first popped into the rice bowl restaurant about 7:20 they told us they were no longer seating. Kinda ridiculous and rude but whatever. So went down the street to Thai cuisine. I've been coming here for years and have always had pleasant experiences. This restaurant has changed hands a couple times but stays consistent. We were starving and were nicely greeted. We ordered egg rolls, steak salad, chicken wings, pad phak gai, crispy chicken, bbq chicken, sticky rice and papaya for dessert. Everything was pretty good. The pad phak egg rolls and salad were the stars of the meal. I was a little surprised I had to order white rice separately and it didn't come with the meal. It seemed a little ridiculous as I spent over 100 dollars between 3 people. Honestly the place isn't the cleanest. This place is good but not my go to. But go give it a try it's consistent. read more

We ate with a group of 10 and everyone loved their meals. Some of the orders were Green Curry, Yellow Curry, Tom Kha Gai, Spring Rolls, Massaman Curry & Tofu Pad Thai. The portion sizes were good, the service was quick & the staff was nice. The only things I didn't love were that the floors were sticky especially in the bathroom (I also couldn't figure out how to lock it) and the prices were a few dollars higher per dish than expected ( about $14-$16 per entree). read more

We've lived in Merced for over 3 years, LOVE Thai food and can't believe we're only trying this place out now! It's just so tucked away and in a bad spot that we always forgot to try it out we we craved Thai. Such fast service and very tasty authentic food! Will be now be our regular Thai restaurant to order from! I'm glad coconut café purposely put the phone off the hook to stop taking phone orders, otherwise i wouldn't have looked up this place on yelp! read more

This spot is one of the original Thai restaurant in Merced. Had a quick lunch before the the lunch rush I assume. We were the only ones there at 11:30 am. We ordered the pho combination and pad Thai. Pho: 5/5 pho broth is phenomenal. Still taste good as it is without any sauces. Pad Thai: 1/5 such a disappointment. The pad Thai sauce was watery when we received it. I can tell you it had no flavor all. You know how when u just look at food and you think there is no way food doesn't have a taste--this dish was straight up nothing. Pad Thai has been declining for a while now I just didn't want to give them the benefit of the doubt. Came here a few months back at least their pad Thai was a 3/5 but this time I would have to say it was in the category of one of my worst pad Thai experience. The looks can be deceiving.... Overall, I think we'll come here for the pho but as far as food wise it's decent. If your an avid Southeast Asian Cuisine diner you'll know if it's good or not as far as ppl saying it's a great food restaurant--maybe it's a hit or miss it. read more

The food is authentic and amazing! Ordered the Panang Curry in medium spice and was just right. Would highly recommend!

Review #171 - 2016 This spot was a nice surprise out in the middle of nowhere. My niece and I were starving after making our 2-hour drive from the Bay Area to Merced. By the time we were done running our errands, it was already 2:30 so I decided to look for the nearest Thai/Lao restaurant and came upon this restaurant. I took a quick look at their photos and decided to call in to see if they closed between 3 and 5 PM so we wouldn't be stuck having to go elsewhere. When the guy told me that they stayed open until closing & that they offered Lao style papaya salad & larb, we made our drive over. Even though the two items mentioned were not on their menu, they definitely made them taste good enough to be on the menu. We also ordered an order of fried chicken wings and sticky rice to eat with our meal. Everything was well seasoned and tasty, but my only complaint was that the green papaya was kind of old since it didn't taste fresh and crunchy as it should be. The waitress was very sweet and accommodating so they get an extra star for excellent service. The bathroom was also very clean so that's a very big bonus as well. Glad we came across this place. We'll definitely be back if we are in the area again. read more

So... this was my first time here, and I went on "Yelp faith" that you guys wouldn't let me down... and you didn't! I had a lunch appointment, and needed to feed a party of 8 people. There were some Thai-food naïve people who had never had any, and some that were resident experts. All of them were happy with the 8 different dishes that I brought. Som Tum- Papaya Salad, fresh and very tasty. Thai Salad- with Chicken and although I only had a bite, the dressing was yummy BBQ Chicken- decent BBQ Pork- decent Pad Kee Mao- loved the spice and flavor (this was an office favorite) Pad Thai- I didn't taste it, but the office loved it too Yellow Curry with Chicken- My favorite. The girls at the office loved this one too. Veggie Thai Fried Rice- also tasted fine. My only disappointment was that I had wanted steamed rice, and they didn't put any in my order as I had requested. Steamed rice to me is the only companion for Yellow Curry, but the Veggie Rice sufficed... I won't hesitate in going back. Considering all the food, they got it done and I made it to my appointment just in time. read more
