Coconut Cafe - pad see ew - Laotian Near Me - Merced, California

If you ever want to eat some good Laotian food, this is the place. The food is made with love and not just thrown into a pan. I highly recommend this restaurant and the staff are great. It's affordable and you know it's good if all county workers try to go weekly. The fried Tofu Pat Thai is the best for me, but everything is good. The Thai tea so good". I'm joy, you won't regret it. read more

Wow. What a find. I love when I walk into an Asian restaurant and there are all Asians there. Had to wait for a table and they were rocking busy. All good signs. Finally sit down after about 10 minutes. Service was fast and they have BeerLao Dark my very favorite Asia beer. BONUS! So happy right away. Good menu. Not mind boggling just perfect. Had the Pad woon sen chicken spice level 5 and egg rolls. It was perfect! Good egg rolls with great sweet chili dipping sauce. Pad woon sen was delicious. Great spice, good amount of veges and chicken with perfect spice and cooked to perfection. Couldn't be happier. It will be the new "go to place". read more

Oh my goodnessssss. Every bite was delicious. I was on a roadtrip, and I was craving thai food so I stopped by for a bite with my roadtrip buddies. It was SOOO GOOD I was on my way back to my roadtrip and I wanted to go back immediately to order more food for the road but I had a party to be at. Honestly, I would have dipped the party to get me some noodles but my friends would have been upset. Anyways, the wait was long but damn worth it. Can't rush perfection. Ugh I wish you guys were located in L.A not one spot here compares shout out to the cooks!!!! read more

We got green curry with sticky rice. Plus the pho had good taste Service was the best

We've been here a few times and every time is the same. I'll start off with the food is consistently amazing. The service is what's lacking. The restaurant itself is not run well. The servers are inexperienced therefore do not know which meals to bring and become confused with which order goes where. Appetizers are usually the last meal that's brought to our table. I'll keep coming back because of the food, the people running the restaurant just need training and better communication with each other. read more

Been here a few times now. We just moved here, and this by far has to be some of the best Thai food I have had. Everything has been fresh and flavorful. Well worth the price of the dish. Will continue to visit for sure read more

This place is a gem! My bf and I showed up at about 6pm Sunday night and the place is already full with customers. The servers are nice, there is a little wait to get our food but it is definitely worth the wait. I ordered the chicken pad woon sen and it was delicious!! My bf ordered the salmon panang and he loved it! The mango boba and shrimp in the blanket were bomb as well. Everything we ordered was amazing, highly recommend!! 10/10 read more

Just got our to go order and this is the second time getting take out. Let me just say this is the best Thai food in town. We got the Pad Thai, Spring rolls and Chicken Panang curry. The curry was thick and not watered down like other places in town, I've only had curry this good out of town and in city areas. Very balanced flavors with the proper aromatics and they will customize the heat level for you. Everything was delicious and I'm so happy merced has this hidden gem. Please give this place a try! Staff is friendly and accommodating as well. read more

It was a while ago that we ordered from here, we wanted to check it out since we never tried it + found out they were pretty new and we LOVE Thai food. REALLY good food and good portions, I would've gave 5 stars but there was a mix up with our order and had to wait pretty long. I understand, mistakes happen. read more

Absolutely delicious Thai food!! We live in Oakland and are surrounded by great Thai food so it was a delight to get even better and authentic Thai near Merced. Our order was missing the rice with the delicious Panang Curry we ordered. We called and they offered to give us the rice plus they gave us a mango boba on the house!! So sweet and generous!! Will definitely come back! Thank you!! read more

Stopped in with some friends for lunch today and it was great. Family owned and operated. The food was hit and fresh from the kitchen. I'll be coming back for sure. read more

I loved the food. Everything was perfect I'll be back again for that pho. I've been a lot of places this place is clean and service was excellent read more

Good food. Poor service, because the server was alone and had way too much on her plate. She was trying though. Hire additional servers, especially on busy nights? Would I go back? Yeah, but during weekdays when the crowd will be absent. read more

Their Pad Thai is 10/10 delicious, amazing flavor every time! Orange chicken 10/10, stays crispy! Egg rolls 8/10. Korean BBQ 0/10, wouldn't recommend to anyone for the price you get 4 small pieces of bone in meat, they're about the size of a piece of bacon, very dry and tough and the flavor just isn't great. Boba drinks 10/10! read more

I saw coconut cafe was recommended a lot by people in a Merced Facebook group so we decided to check it out. Best Thai food I've had in Merced. Pad Khee Mao with chicken was excellent and ingredients were high quality. Will return for sure.

This place is a hidden gem within Merced! Pad Thai is delicious and you can have no spice or all the spice in the world lol. Ive also tried the fried tofu which was amazing. I would never ever eat something like that but saw someones picture and gave it a try. Im SO glad I did, it was flippin delicious! The PHO? AMAZE BALLS! And as always, I order a thai tea or coffee which completes the meal. Staff is very friendly, they are quick with getting you your food and the prices are reasonable. What are ya'll waiting for?! read more

We tried it today, and enjoyed our meal very much. I especially loved the spicy green beans and pad kra pao, and am looking forward to sampling more of the menu. Be warned that they do mean spicy when they say spicy -- 2/10 cleared out my sinuses, and my husband's papaya salad, which was 5/10, was much too spicy for me. read more

Wow, what a disappointment!!! Extremely small portions, food is not up to par, will NEVER eat here again!!!

Unfortunately, this place opened up just prior to the pandemic, or during the pandemic, and the quality and quantity of their meals was excellent for the price but recently, as always, the price has gone up in the quality, and the quantity of the meals has diminished. We used to eat there all the time but now, I don't think I could really recommend it? It's like one of those things that you knew was good and then all the time you're not impressed anymore. read more

Coconut cafe hands down has the best chow mein and pad woo sen, I have ever tasted. The chicken pho was extra salty and had a super strong onion flavor. The service is also super fast every time I go and order for takeout. read more

Food is fabulous, very tasty with great flavor. Best chicken pad Thai I've had! And the space is cute and cozy. One of our favorite date night locations. read more

We decided to give this place a try tonight since it is right by our house. No regrets! We tried a lot of dishes- Duck Pho, Pork Chop, Pad Thai, Orange chicken, Beef salad, Spring rolls, and Pork belly. All were delicious. Lots of food, so we will enjoy leftovers for lunch tomorrow. While waiting for my order, I saw the Boba drinks and couldn't resist adding those on as well. The were fantastic. Thank you for a great dinner! We will return! read more

Always check your bill ..I was with 4 adults an 2 children.. I didn't check my bill thoroughly.. but after tipping $20 on a $110 tab .. I got home an my wife noticed that they added gratuity $19.99 . Everything on the menu is outstanding! This joint never disappoints! Could never go wrong with any of the entrees, struggling to even list a few for this review. Service is lovely! Run by young, beautiful people, restores your hope in the next generation as I like to say. This place is incredibly cozy, booth four facing the tv is my dream spot! Thanks Coconut cafe, can't wait to come back! read more

Cute place with excellent outdoor dining option. Food is delicious! Pho, green curry are super yummy. Will be back!

Tried them twice..1st time they didn't listen when I asked not to spicy, they ended up giving me (too spicy) and I couldn't eat it (this was take out, so I was disappointed because I couldn't return it since I was home and hungry). 2nd time I went in for dine in and food was insipid (bland). Nice ambiance though and was seated right away. read more

Service was exceptional, please hire more servers: there was only one female worker and I felt bad for her. The appetizers were phenomenal! Love it! We ordered a lot: spring rolls, shrimp in a blanket which is shrimp egg rolls, fried calamari. For entrees; beef pad se ew spicy level 6, pad Thai chicken, Korean bbq, red curry with seafood. The food was filling and delicious, she was very helpful and filled our water frequently! Thank you! I will be coming back again. read more

This place is not very good. The service here is unfriendly and slow. It's right by my house so gave it two stars for location. I wished it was wonderful but sadly it is not good at all and I can't find anything to recommend about it. read more

We had a great experience at Coconut Cafe for lunch today. Everything was very fresh. The pineapple fried rice was probably the best fried rice I've ever had. Restaurants are having to get creative with outdoor seating right now, but their arrangement was well thought out. It was clean and they had decor for ambiance. read more

This spot has a little outdoor setup not just for convenience but for safety. The food is authentic and the all sauces are home made. If you are looking for SE Asian melting pot of a menu this is it. The Thai influences on Laotian food are true to form and this spot will not disappoint. read more

Food was great! I'm Laotian and Hmong and I know great food when I've tired it. I had their Tom yum salad, I don't remember the name but it had great flavors if you're looking for a refreshing taste and perfect amount of sourness. I also ordered the pad see ew and yellow curry. The pad see ew was a little more bland and the curry was on the thicker side. Curry had great flavor though I just wish it had a little more med-thin sauce. The experience was great as well. The chef herself came out and talked to us and made us feel comfortable. read more

They have the best pad Thai in merced! It's pretty busy only bc it's popular so make sure you have time to wait for food!
