Went to Cocody for a friend's birthday and it was THE BEST experience! The food and drinks were great, the restaurant is absolutely stunning, and we had the best waiter ever. His name was Will McMillan and he was phenomenal. He was super nice and fun, gave us great food/drink recommendations, was so helpful and considerate of my and my friend's food allergies.. he was simply the best. We were the last table there and the entire staff was incredibly kind. And shout out to the chefs for making substitutions for our allergies. while the restaurant was beautiful, the hostesses had absolutely no clue. we had a party reservation and checked in 20 minutes early, we then had to wait an additional 30 minutes for them to even have a table ready for our group. Wednesday dinner, 8:00 PM reservations, four people--Bedlam! Waited 30 minutes to get seated. Extremely noisy and pricey. Small pours on the wine by the glass. Foie gras, $36, tasted good but was mostly bread and pear. The foie gras itself was tiny, about the diameter of a silver dollar. Duck was so tough that I left most of it uneaten. Good points: The waitstaff was very helpful and polite, but the food was slow coming out of the kitchen. Beet salad was good. Pretty decor. I made a reservation online for my anniversary. As we were arriving hostess opened door for us and greeted us nicely. If you're not in a booth I think the tables are awkwardly close. We got scallops for appetizer and the cod and snapper for entree which were delicious! And a chocolate cake for dessert. I really wanted to do the tasting menu but nothing really stood out to me. Food was so good I'd definitely come back to try some different items. I guess the only thing I was waiting for or my only complaint is a little "happy anniversary" or something would've been nice. I mean why would they ask if we were celebrating anything when making the reservation if they aren't going to say anything or at least have a little dessert for you...the table next to us were also celebrating and the girl had to ask if they do anything for birthdays for them to bring something out. For the price I'm expecting service to be a little better and to have that ready. But I didn't say anything and went on with the dinner...I'd probably dock another half star for cleanliness...felt dust was about to fall on my food/drink from the ceiling lights. We visited Cocody on New Years Eve. After reading less than stellar reviews about this restaurant, I was hesitant to book, however, I thought that service and food would be good given that they had a set menu for the night. First off, the restaurant is beautiful, they did a wonderful job with the interior design. However, I felt that the service and quality of food was lacking. The service was extremely delayed, and we could see the manager arguing with the wait staff throughout the night. The table we sat in was a small round booth, and it was a bit uncomfortable with the lack of foot space. The food came out lukewarm, and it just felt overpriced for what you received. We used the valet service and our vehicle was broken into and items were stolen. After receiving unprofessional exchanges with the valet team, and having a conversation with the restaurant general manager, who offered no assistance, we left the restaurant with a bad taste in our mouths from the overpriced food bill and an even pricier bill to have to get our vehicle fixed. read more

Ok let's get this out of the way: yes it's the most buzzed restaurant at the moment and has amazing decor. Pretty much stops there. From the beginning i could tell the service was not in line with what you'd expect from this "caliber" -they squeezed 5 of us into this tiny table and didn't want to give us an extra chair so we weren't literally on top of each other. The chair was awkwardly placed where the waiters kept bumping me. When they set our apps it was a nightmare. They kept forgetting our orders. When he "told us about the menu" he was literally reciting the words on the menu. And the food...was so bland and lacking of flavor. The chocolate dessert was basically a soup. I'm sorry but if you have a night out in river oaks go to a tried and true but i have not recommended this place to anyone. read more

Good, but very overpriced. I dined at around 5 pm on a Saturday-- the full menu is not available at this time, only the "Lollies" and the bar. I paid nearly $50 ($48 before tip) for one glass of wine (no mixology effort needed, just open and pour), bread and butter (admittedly very good, home made, but with a cost of $8... for bread) and their tuna lolly, which consists of four 3/4" cubes of tuna topped with a toast of equal diameter and some roe on top. This is beyond overpriced. For context, I dined the next day at Etoile in Uptown Park... (an equally upscale establishment in an equally upscale neighborhood) and for $6 less (before tip) I had a divine appetizer of fried squash blossoms stuffed with basil risotto, a lovely gin cocktail (that actually required some thought and finesse) and a just elegant and refreshing (and freaking delicious) Meyer lemon tart on shortcake with raspberry sorbet. Now that's worth $42... Cocody may be good (what, little I tasted of it) but it is a poor value for the money. Especially considering I can walk across the street to Brasserie 19 and get real food that is just as good, any time in the afternoon. They really need to adjust their pricing if they're going to stay afloat. read more

Cocody surpassed our expectations. From the food, drinks, service and ambiance. From our past experiences, pretty/ trendy looking restaurants never had good food. We were pleasantly surprised. Our favorite dishes were the foie gras, scallops, lobster bisque, cocody potatoes, chilean sea bass, bucatini, and pistachio dessert. Our waiter, Tyler, was great. Went here for lunch the other day, as we are searching for places to take out of town guests. This restaurant will not be it - nor will we ever go back here again. So let me break this down, starting with food: Food: Marginal, at best. I had the buccatini with clams, which was incredibly gummy, almost undercooked. Could not taste the clams at all, and I did not eat half of it, as it really was inedible. My husband had the pulled pork, which was simply okay, and not exceptional. At these prices (and the dishes we ordered were some of the cheapest on the menu) the food should be outstanding. It was not. Though I do have to say the mini baguettes were wonderful, but also very expensive. The Cocody potatoes were horrible, and had come highly recommended. It is very difficult to make a potato dish inedible - this was. Service: Very slow, inaccurate and inattentive, despite the restaurant not being busy, and lots of staff standing around. We ordered wine and it took 15 minutes for it to come to the table. Note to restaurant staff: patrons can forgive a lot if they have their drinks - serve them quickly, and refill often. Decor: Despite being told that this restaurant had a 7-8 million dollar buildout (!!??), the decor looked like someone vomited 1980's Chic all over it; Stark white, high-gloss gold, and MAUVE. Not very appetizing or high-end looking. So my final impression is that Cocody aspires to be an elegant, fancy restaurant where one goes for fine dining and to see-and-be-seen, but the owners have no idea how to achieve this, and have grappled (poorly) at what they think they need to achieve this. Our reservation was for 8:30 pm but we were not seated until after 9 pm. We passed the time with a delicious cocktail at the bar. After being seated we promptly ordered but did not receive our appetizers until 9:45pm. My husband's foie gras was yummy but my buratta and heirloom tomato was surprisingly bland. Again my husband fared better with the duck which was perfectly cooked. My sea bass was decidedly overcooked and dry, despite lavishing lots of sauce over it. Finally, we were very amused when our waiter tried to enthusiastically convince us that their Port was from France, even when we questioned it. So that pretty much summed up our visit. So disappointed. Went here with a group of 10 for a girlfriend's birthday and the experience was so bad. To start, we got there at 7 and they didn't take our cocktail order until 7:25 and didn't get our drinks until 7:45. We placed our dinner order at probably 8 and didn't get our food until 9. The food was okay but nothing great and the $20 drinks were not good at all. All while this is going on, the toilets did not work so the bathrooms were disgusting. At the end, we asked for our individual bills and the guy said he couldn't do that, though we were never told when booking the reservation, that they do one bill for parties over 6. We ended up calling the manager over to see what they could do and he was so rude and unprofessional, he kept making excuses saying that it's busy so they can't and that they don't do it during restaurant week and whatnot. We told him we'd been here a long time and we're just ready to go and asked it to be done, as my girlfriend was a manger at a restaurant and knew the system was easily able to do that. In the end, they went ahead and split the bill (without even asking what we ordered so that obviously could've don't it without all the back and forth), but not before threatening to take a while to do it. Before leaving to do the bills, the server announced to the whole table that he forget to add the water to the bill so we should be expecting that. In the beginning, the server offered sparkling or still water but little did we know at the time, they were charging for every little bottle of water and that other tables were being filled with tap, which is what we would've done, had we known. When we asked about it at the end, server said he offered tap but he definitely did not, so that was very deceitful. By 10:15 and after all the back and forth, we were fed up and ready to go, but the girls that did the restaurant week 3 course meal hadn't gotten their deserts yet. We asked about it, and the server rudely replied he was working on it. We stuck around maybe 15 more minutes and it never came so we left. It was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant and we were so excited about it. It's a very cute restaurant, and decorated so nice and the appetizers were good but the service, manager, drinks, wait and bathroom situation were so unsatisfactory. If I was a restaurant owner and I had a manager and server that treated my guests the way we were treated, I'd be very upset. The server still got his 20% service charge, and that's probably one of the reasons our table was so neglected, as he didn't actually have to work for his tip. It's unfortunate that that's the case, and that just because we're women in our late twenties and early thirties, that we don't get the same service as the older patrons around us. In the end, we paid for drinks we didn't like and desserts we never got, got charged for water we didn't want and "tipped" for service we didn't receive. I would not recommend. read more

What an absolute disaster! My wife ordered a margarita and instead of the $16 price on the menu the waiter "upgraded" the tequila to make it $26 without telling us. She ordered a second one, same result. We ordered starters and mains. Three servers arrived with everything at the same time, furiously moving things around our table. I ended up with my wife's half finished coctail and one component of her starter on my side of the table. We finally got our waiters attention and got the main course sent back to the kitchen. I picked up my knife to slice into my burratta stuffed heirloom tomato, but couldn't cut it because the knife was dull, like a butter knife. Also tomato wasn't ripe. I had to leave the table to find someone to get a knife sharp enough to cut the tomato. I the tried the lukewarm mushroom soup which was inedibly salty; waiter and kitchen agreed. Waiter was unfamiliar with menu: Blackened snapper does/does not have shellfish? Ordered with snapper with sauce on the side but couldn't stop server from pouring sauce on dish. "No," "Stop" "Para" "Arret:" nothing worked. We had to wait for the dish to be redone. My terrine of foie gras was actually delicious, but not much of a dinner. Worst of all, the Maitre d' Sylvain Denis was standing by the bar enjoying a drink, watching this clown-show unfold and did nothing to fix it. We had been so excited to come to this restaurant after wonderful experiences at Le Mistral. Cocody could not have been more different. We left having spent well over $200, 90 minute and tremendous aggravation and frustration. Luckily for me, we had leftovers at home. Please learn from our mistake and don't repeat it. FWIW, i've reached out to the restaurant twice without response. I don't think that they care It appears from the website that Sylvain and David are not owners and have nothing to lose. I hope the owners read this in time to fix things or at least start coming up with a replacement concept. read more

We went to Cocody last night for dinner, the food was not good, the service was not good, and the cocktails were not good. The only good thing was the ambiance but it got ruined by the overall experience. I don't even know our servers name she didn't tell us. The martini had a horrible after taste. I ordered the lobster bisque it was $40 and had maybe 3 pieces of lobster, and tasted like sewage. I genuinely couldn't eat it and two other people tried it at my table and said the same thing. They took it off the bill, but no manager came by and the servers attitude was horrible, it ruined my experience. I would never go back to this restaurant. read more

Food is very expensive, low quality average taste. Our reservation was for 8:15 pm on Saturday 2/24. We did not get our table until 8:50 pm after complaining to manager. They stuck us in an area of the restaurant that was not comfortable at all. Our table was odd shape, we could not get comfortable. We went to Cocody for my birthday 2/20. My husband booked for myself and two other guests, mentioning it was a birthday. I will say when we arrived, we were excited and loved the interior. The interior is exquisite and if you can see it, you should do so. With that being said, we each ordered drinks, a salad/soup, meal and dessert. Watch the water - even when you ask for regular water - they deliver bottled (told later you get a complimentary glass of water per person) and they refill with bottled water (unless you know to tell them not to and that was an unexpected $32 addition to the bill). Salads were good, but my husband's soup wasn't seasoned to his liking so he added some salt/pepper. The meal - his chilean sea bass (I tasted it to) was ok and my cod was wonderful. The other couple said their steak/seafood was also ok. The highlight was the desserts - they were visually stunning and tasty however; they didn't do a thing to acknowledge the birthday and told later they won't light a small candle due to the glass on the ceiling - not sure why but they don't. Also, there was no acknowledgement of the birthday. Waiter was attentive but service was exceptionally slow. If you want to be out at a reasonable time, don't go here - we arrived/seated at 6;30 and left at 9:30. All in all, interior is lovely, desserts are beautiful and tasty but with that being said, we won't be returning - for the price point, we have higher expectations for the food and service. Annabelles (similar price point) is lovely, wonderful service and exceptional food - we will be regulars at their establishment. I'd suggest going - sitting at the bar - see the interior, order a dessert maybe. read more

I'm actually very upset about our experience here. I was so excited to book this restaurant for my partners birthday I had been talking about it for weeks. We walked in and were greeted by the host where I literally saw her change our reservation table but I didn't think much of it. She sat us way in the back by the kitchen literally had staff walking back in forth by our table all night. We passed multiple open tables while being seated. Our server asked us what we were celebrating when I put in the notes that it was a birthday. He was very unprofessional and called my partner "sassy". He proceeded to point out the price of the food which I found offensive. He then shattered a glass by us luckily no one was hurt. The food turned out to be good so I have no complaints there. I also saw a server lighting a candle for someone else's birthday....but we weren't offered that again subpar service. read more

Zero star! What kind of fancy restaurant with rsvp but still had to wait for over an hour?! And this is not even a Michelin star restaurant. Nobody came out to apologize to us about the wait, at least offered us some cold water while we waited (it was freaken hot waiting outside). Greeter was rude she opened the door for everyone but our group (I did a test and stood by the door). Maybe because we are Asian? So we left! Traveled so far to try this restaurant and got this kind of treatment. Such a big disappointment regardless if the food was good or not. Note to the owner: you need to retrain your greeter to treat all customers the same way! Restaurant closes at 11pm so how do you expect we could enjoy our food in less than 1hr?! read more

Food is beautiful but overpriced and scallops extremely fishy - I had to ask for iced tea refill 3x and never got it. Also tried ordering an espresso multiple times - waitress who delivered our dessert said we needed to ask our waiter for the coffee (a fourth time)- we asked can we at least please have some plates and spoons to eat our shared dessert? The snapper with polenta and curry sauce is such an off pairing. The food tasted old and just lacking of balanced flavors. We ordered Eclair foer the dessert which the server claimed is the best in the city, it was hard and mealy and again had no flavor balance. Everything is so awfully paired together in the entrees. The espresso martini is worst in the city I can confirm that.
