Mother's Day Reservation @3:30pm When I say OVER RATED....It is an understatement. Please don't let the hype fool you. Please don't waste your hard earned money on poor service and cafeteria food.....This place is a glammed up Luby's and should be an insult to French cuisine. "Fine dining" with 1 star customer service and poor food quality... Hot drinking water...This was the first sign that things would be terrible. We asked the waitress why the water was hot and she replied "we didn't have time to cool it." .....QUE, COMO??? We were all appalled when that came out of her mouth. At that moment we should have left...Our waitress gave us the impression that we were inconveniencing her. Inattentive, unwelcoming, and rude.... Table was improperly set, half of us had silverware and the rest of us had to hunt down the waitress to get more. Other tables had flower decorations while ours was missing....sign of poor attention to detail. Coca Cola was flat. We asked the waitress if she could check on the carbonation and she never did. She said she did but I know a lie when I hear it....If you aren't drinking alcohol, they don't care if your coke is flat. My sister's lemonade or should I say "lemon water" was never refilled despite the waitress having multiple opportunities to check in on us. There were also multiple tables that had issues with the service. A man at the table behind us received his food but it sat there getting cold as he had to track down the waitress for silverware. Another outside table left prior to receiving their meal and another table of 2 sent their food back to the kitchen. We saw the male manager come over to their table to attempt to rectify the issue....THIS IS NOT A MOTHER'S DAY ISSUE, THIS IS A SYSTEM'S ISSUE. While we waited for our food we saw 2 employees taking shots with customers. Wait, so you mean to tell me that you have time to take shots but y'all can't make sure our drinking water is cold???? LOL! Unbelievable... This type of behavior creates a tacky restaurant culture. When ordering our food the waitress got snappy with my dad when he asked what was in the seafood pot pie. She replied "It's a roux" with an attitude... This visit was so emotionally exhausting. I have been to sooooo many places and this visit has really done a number on me. I'm drained just writing about this. Sighs... Remember that hot water I mentioned earlier? Well she finally brought out some ice after she took the water jug lol. "Here's some ice..." we were all like ummmmm too late sweetheart. Food finally arrived....I will say, the food came out fast! I can't make this up...And yes, all of the above occurred during the same visit. What this tells me is that the owners either lack pride in their restaurant or have become hands off for other reasons. The staff seem very disjointed and struggle working as a team. I spoke with one of the managers up front and let her know I would be writing a review due to our disappointing experience. She was kind and apologized. I asked if they were short staffed and she said no it's because it's Mother's Day. Mother's Day is on the calendar every year and the management team has 364 days to properly create a plan that mitigates risk, while enhancing the customer experience. Y'all are in reactive/ survival mode, just trying to get to the close of day.... As a result, your customers have become the recipients of paying the cost, not just financially but emotionally. Please don't use Mother's Day as an excuse to drop the ball.... If you properly plan you won't have to be in survival mode on days such as today. While waiting, we ordered happy hour appetizers, drinks, and a few items from the main menu. The appetizers were delicious and easily the highlight of the meal, though the cocktails were just okay. The oysters arrived after about an hour, but they were gritty with noticeable sand and small shell fragments. Even during busy service, oysters should be properly cleaned -- it was disappointing to have to spit out shell with nearly every bite. I overheard the manager mention to another table that the owner was helping shuck, which shows effort, but quality control seemed to suffer. The manager checked on nearly every table around us (including those seated after us) but never stopped by ours. Since we weren't checked on again until the oysters arrived, there wasn't an opportunity to adjust the timing of our entrées. They came out shortly after and were unfortunately mediocre; we only had a few bites before boxing them up. I had a great experience at A'Bouzy this weekend. The restaurant was having its periodic special of dozen gulf oysters for $3. The kitchen was backed up and we were told - so we ordered two dozen at the onset of brunch. There is a limit of one dozen per person for the special - after which the oysters are full price. On the website, escargot was listed on the menu, however, it was not listed on the brunch menu. We asked our waiter, Isidro, and he checked with the chef - and they were able to prepare the item which we enjoyed. We also had the French onion soup - it was very flavorful. I felt like the portion was small, however, personally, for soup, this is actually my preferance, as I find that French onion soup can be quite filling when I want other things. It came with a small salad. To end the meal, we had the seafood pot pie, another recommendation from Isidro. What a treat! Additionally we had two bottles of very reasonably priced champagne. We came in for the oyster special and stayed for the great brunch. Note: There is no bread service - but a popcorn starter which I find fun and a bit different. It was a lively scene. I visited A'Bouzy with a group of eight ladies, and we decided to try their champagne and caviar pairing; it did not disappoint. Everything was already set up when we arrived, which made the whole experience flow smoothly. This was my first-time trying caviar, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but they paired it so well. It came with mini pancakes, cream cheese, red onions, chopped eggs, and capers, and each caviar was matched perfectly with a different champagne. Our server was wonderful and attentive. Wow am I late to the party but I finally visited Abouzy! This is a sibling restaurant to succulent. It features a beautiful interior with a outdoor option for seating. I was raining on the day I went so indoor seating for me! This was my friend and my first time here and it just so happened that the oysters were on happy hour! Every first Monday they have a dozen oysters for $.50 each (you can only get a dozen per person) and while gulf oysters aren't my preference ever anywhere, at A'Bouzy they're cleaned perfectly and they're a proper size. Starting with the service, it was very good. Our waiter was very attentive. They sat in a spot that we wanted near the patio came and checked on us frequently. They had some nice music playing not too loud some jams. Also, it was our first time being looked pretty good suggestions and descriptions of the different dishes. The blackened the grits were good by themselves already, but that sauce from those crab fingers really good. The eight hour braze, pork belly and eggs was OK. It was tender, but I really expected braising gravy since it was supposed to be braised. It really tasted like they just put store-bought sweet barbecue sauce on top of it. We came here for girls brunch on a weekend. Located in River Oaks, free street parking is very limited and the restaurant only has paid valet available. The interior features a stylish blend of modern and classic elements, with a nice color palette that includes deep blues, golds, and neutrals. The wine menu features an extensive and diverse selection of both domestic and international wines by the glass and bottle. Our table ordered a bottle of champagne and a bottle of rosé to share. I came here for brunch with four friends and from the moment we walked in, the experience was disappointing. We were not greeted when we entered. Although the patio was busy (which we completely understood), the inside of the restaurant appeared fairly empty. We were immediately told there were no tables available without a reservation and that only the bar was open (we were told this by a heavier weight white host). We were fine with that and agreed to sit at a small round table in the corner -- no issue at all. But then our server came up and, in a shocked tone, asked why we didn't make a reservation or wait for a table. That confused us because we had just been told nothing was available. So we literally went online right there and made a reservation. When we went back to the host stand, the same hostess looked at us with a stink eye and said, "Oh, now you have a reservation?" in a very rude, arrogant, and honestly condescending tone. It felt extremely discriminatory. I understand we're young, but that shouldn't affect how we're treated. Money was not an issue -- we were fully prepared to pay. The service didn't improve much from there. Our server was polite, but very inattentive. We were seated right by the door, and he still managed to ignore us most of the time while focusing on other tables. Simple requests like hot sauce or even the check took over 15 minutes. I understand places get busy, but this was excessive. And to make things worse, the valet experience was ridiculous. The attendants talked about people right in front of them, charged $6, still asked for a tip, and you basically have to walk to your own car while they just reverse it out. The crab fingers are served in a buttery wine sauce. The Deviled Eggs were the star of the show for me. They were creamy, flavorful and the pork belly added a nice salty touch. My mom had the pot pie and it was really good...and I'm not a fan of any kind of pot pie. The only drawback I would say is that the charge for splitting checks and cake cutting; which we weren't aware of in advance. I liked they have valet, and in a day like today that was raining a lot that was very helpful, what I cannot agree with is the fact that they charge you for the valet, like there is nowhere to park and I am coming to eat here and spend my money and the only parking space is available through the valet and you are gonna charge me to park and eat at your restaurant? We arrived 20 min late due to the bad weather, and we called to notify the host but no one answered, so obviously we lost our reservation, and we told them when we got there and they say we had to wait, that we only had two parties ahead of us. 30 min and 5 group of people later, we got a table. The tables are too close to each other, you can barely walk in between tables, like they tried to squeeze as many tables as possible, it was uncomfortable. Our server was ok, but often ignored our signals to come to our table probably because he was too busy or it was too loud. Well, let's talk food, I ordered the carb fingers they were good, but they put only two small pieces of bread and we were 4 in the table, I think at least 4 slices of bread would've been nice Then we got the Benedict eggs, they were very unflavored, like no seasoning at all, the place came with fruit but it was not ripe at all, nothing worse than eating cantaloupe and pineapple that are sour and hard to bite it. My friends got raw oysters and clams. From the beginning I asked to get two checks, when we requested the checks our server got only one ticket, so I had to remind him of my previous request. I know this restaurant has been around for a bit, but it's still lovely to look at on the inside. The decor is a mix of French and modern but not too overdone. You can tell it is a place where people want to take pics and upload to reels on busy nights. I had wanted to try this for some time but finally made it out. My fiancé and I came for bunch this last Sunday. The female hostess and manager at the door greeted us and were so nice. We proceeded to order pommes frites to start with which were to die for. Nice and crispy but a good amount of greasiness, most likely from the duck fat. The corned beef hash was nice as well. The waitress was excellent, I didn't catch her name but she was a blonde lady and very sweet. My review is brief for this reason. We had intended to have a full brunch experience when we arrived, I had even looked over the menu before. However, the table that they sat us at was directly in front of the raw bar where the oysters and other cold seafood was. Well, I knew they had a great oyster program, so as we were looking over the menu, we saw at the raw bar, I noticed both cooks did not have any gloves on. They proceeded to make all the food touching various things that were not food with their bare hands plus the oysters and crackers, and occasionally wiping their hands on their aprons. My fiancé is sous chef and has worked at some pretty high end places. He told me that they should be wearing gloves because it's against health code. Not only that, I saw the female cook take a bite of a cracker while preparing food. To top things off, she also had brought a bucket of ice, the same ones I saw the bar use, and had placed it ON TOP of the raw oysters. It pretty much just sat ON TOP of the oysters the entire time we were there. We didn't really say anything while we were there, but it concerns me that the same ice bucket used for ice for cocktails, it's probably the same bucket used for the seafood, and while the ice is inside the container, I don't think it's within the health code to sit on top of raw oysters. So yes, the sanitary issues did concern us and we paid our tab and left. While the restaurant is beautiful, and I definitely see the appeal aesthetically, I would be concerned about eating there seeing what we did and who knows what practices or health code staff issues goes on in the kitchen. Perhaps, just comeback and drink wine since there's not ice situation involved. read more

We came to Abouzy for the first time to try during HRW. Upon entering the ambiance was very nice and friendly. The service was great, our waiter and his co worker, Carlos were very attentive and helpful. They helped us choose amazing dishes and cocktails. Their food was a solid 10/10. Everything was tasty and delicious. They brought out a little dessert for my husband's bday. We will definitely come back!!! read more

This restaurant had a great ambiance and great service! The waitress was very tentative to all of our needs and she was personable and funny. The appetizer was fresh popcorn and that was different but so addicting delicious!! The shrimp basket was also very very good and the breading was seasoned well and not salty at all. I ended up getting the Shrimp Po'Boy with Onion Strings and baby it was scrumptious!! The bread was so soft and the shrimp flavorful -writing this makes me want to order it right now. I'll definitely be back for this sandwich. read more
