Chicken Basquaise was delicious.
Violet H.

Went to here to celebrate my birthday and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing! Here is what we got and what I would recommend... The Focaccia is a must, 10/10 The tuna tartare also delicious 8/10 We ordered 3 pizzas - the pepperoni 9/10, supreme 9/10, and cacio e pepe 10/10. The cacio e pepe is a must. It was outstanding. Our sever recommended the salsa verde with it and he was right. Btw.. get all 3 sauces and the hot honey. They are delicious and will elevate your pizza experience. We also got the chicken basquaise 9/10 and the bolognese 10/10. All chefs kiss. Dessert - the honey cake was incredible 10/10 and the rhubarb was great 8/10. Vibe and ambiance 10/10 - cool place! Now, the server was ok. Nothing special, not very attentive. Could have honestly been better, given the fact that they have a bib gourmand recognition and there's a lot of buzz surrounding it. I would definitely recommended this place. We will def be back.

Pepperoni Pizza

My colleague Maria put me on to Rosie's. I knew I could trust her pizza reviews and I'm glad I listened. I came specifically for the pepperoni pizza and it was worth it! Fresh ingredients and a nice crust, and I opted for extra pepperoni to make sure I wasn't disappointed. It was a lazy weekend night for me so I placed a carry out order, but next time I'll be dining in. The ambience of the dining room is perfect for a date night or a solo date to indulge in a guilty pleasure. Overall 9/10.

Table Bag Hooks

Rosie Cannonball is Houston's only Italian Michelin-listed restaurant. The vibe, ambiance, food, and service is perfect for a girls' night or dinner date. We received complimentary glasses of rosé and a blistered bean salad upon being seated. I definitely felt wined and dined. The high tables even have bag hooks! The service was amazing (even when they were busy). My friends and I really enjoyed their cocktails and the bone marrow. Their honey cake is a MUST-TRY. Totally melts in your mouth. So flavorful and to die for.

Charred Cabbage-$20. The best vegetable I've had in 2025 and 2026! lol The duck skin and dressing are addictive!

I don't even know where to begin... This place is the bees knees.... Bomb.com...... My fire and desire..... Just whoa! The best meals I had in 2025 were all in Houston. I might need to go ahead, Pull the trigger, and sell my Dallas home! PSA!!! Ya'll, YOU MUST GO DURING HAPPY HOUR (9pm-10pm, daily). I know an hour doesn't seem like very long so make your resy for around 8:45 and be ready spaghetti when they call your name 5-15 min later. DO NOT TRY TO BE CUTE AND WALK IN, YOU WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN HAPPY HOUR. The pizzas and drinks are half off! An amazing deal. Please get the charred cabbage. You will thank me! The dressing, The duck, The crispy skin--Oh my! Not a cheap dish, $20 for a small portion but well worth it. The magic in the pizzas is definitely in the crust. I have no idea what they're putting in it, but it can't be legal. A slight sweetness--chewy but tender, not tough! The pizzas are big enough for 2 people to split. The Lambrusco spritz was a little smaller than I had hoped, but for $7 during HH, I shut my mouth! Our waitress was nice, very cool and well versed of how Ms. Cannonball and her team run. Per her offering, we began the evening with a nice complimentary pour of delicious rosé. Finished the evening with the honey cake which is a must get! Pretty small portion there too...definitely could've had my own, but I have a 2 piece to wear in 2 weeks, so whatevs. Even though I'm 4 hours away, yours truly will be a regular!

Love this little spot! So grateful for complimentary valet in Montrose. The space is comfy and casual but still elevated to make a great celebration or date night spot. Service is great, they give you a sample of an Italian sparkling wine to start. They have plenty of fun cocktails and wines to choose from. The charred cabbage was fantastic- love the duck meat and crunchy bits on top, and the charred edges of the leaves were so flavorful. Lamb ragu was very indulgent but would definitely get again- so flavorful and savory, the sauce was creamy, and i could tackle a whole bowl myself. The pizza options are also fun! The spinach and artichoke dip pizza really did taste like it had the dip on the top. The crust is more of the soft and fluffy variety rather than the crisp type you find at other places. I still enjoyed immensely! The dessert menu is worth perusing. The fig and pistachio clafoutis was so delish, it had savory aspects to it and texture was very unique, like a cake with more body. The crème fraiche gelato wasn't too sweet and paired perfectly! Deserving of the Michelin guide designation for sure! Can't wait to come back and try more things!!

Charred salad (big plate), carrots and burrata (top), matrimonio anchovies

I have been to Rosie several times and nothing has ever disappointed! The waiters are friendly and give great recs. They start you with a little complimentary Rose aperitif which is awesome. Everything on the menu is delicious - my favorite app has been the charred salad. It has a perfect grilled taste and so flavorful with the duck confit. Sharing a Cacio e Pepe pizza is a must!!! One of the best things I've ever had. The grilled shrimp are amazing and I love the bollonagse. The desserts are also great - must get the honey cake. Espresso martinis are really good and half off booze after 9pm! Pizza is also half off after 9pm. One of my favorite spots in Houston. Inside is so cute and intimate (can be loud) and the patio is very nice as well

Pork chop

One of the most memorable and delicious dining experiences I've had in Houston. Ambiance is absolutely incredible, lively yet elegantly dim. Servers are so kind with great recommendations and attention to detail. Food is out of this world, every single dish wowed me. I simply can't say enough good things! Focaccia - a crispy flatbread with honey drizzled on top and stuffed with cheese and arugula. A pleasant surprise in texture and flavor that left me wanting more! Charred cabbage - might have been my favorite dish of the whole night, surprisingly. Who knew cabbage could be so amazing? The smoky charred flavor paired with the anchovy sauce and crispy duck skin made every bite literally magnetic, I found myself going bite for bite until the dish was clean. Pork chop - the beauty of this dish was in completing each bite with the bed of black eyed peas and the salsa verde. The pork was thick and tender, the beans were soft and flavorful, and the salsa was a tangy kick. Even though we were already so full, we couldn't help ourselves from wasting a crumb of this. Lamb ragu - rich and gamey, with a tiny kick of spice and a tangy yogurt sauce on top. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the dish was the perfect size to finish off our meal. Another unique standout! Pear tartine - one of the best desserts I've had. This pear reduction on top of a shortbread cookie, paired with a salted caramel gelato, sent my mouth to heaven. Very important to get some of the gelato in each bite! I was so glad I tried this instead of the honey cake (although I'll have to try the cake next time!). Rosie Cannonball will live in my memory was one of the best meals I've had, and I can't wait to come back again to continue trying their exciting and delicious menu!

Cacio e pepe pizza
Ellen K.

I am still thinking about the cacio e pepe pizza. So perfectly creamy, the crust so beautifully thin and chewy. Very pretty date night vibes, and a goated happy hour with half off pizzas and drinks 9-10pm. The staff was also so kind--we sat outside, but they brought us blankets.

Charred Cabbage Grilled Shrimp
Destinee R.

If I could eat here for the first time again I would. They have earned their Michelin guide recommendation for sure. Upon arrival we were sat promptly and provided a tasting of their Lambrusco. The feel of the restaurant is intimate and homey- making for a great date night. We ordered the Montrose Mami and Negroni cocktails. Both well balanced and delicious. We shared the grilled shrimp with garlic focaccia, the charred cabbage with duck confit, and Rosie's supreme pizza. Every single dish was amazing. The shrimp was served with a butter that was buttery and complimented the focaccia well. The cabbage had a creamy anchovy dressing that was surprisingly good. The pizza dough was fresh, not too thin or cheesy, and a great serving of fennel sausage. Our server was attentive and gave background on the restaurant and their house made items. As we were celebrating a birthday, the staff provided my friend a birthday card and dessert to go- a thoughtful gesture. I can't wait to dine here again.

Spinach artichoke pizza
Lisa J.

The beef tartare and lamb ragu were both *chefs kiss* Pizza was good- it was different. We ordered the spinach artichoke pizza- and I wish we ordered the cacia e pepe. Will be back to try other pizzas! Happy hour specials seem awesome! The service was top notch- our server was so attentive. Ambiance was cozy and vibey.

After seeing that there was a great happy hour for pizza and drinks from 9-10PM, we wanted to go that evening. We were unsuccessful in getting reservations via OpenTable or by phone, but they said they had tables set aside for HH walk-ins so we decided to give it a go. We arrived right at 9 and were told it's a 50 min but that they'd text us when the table was ready and the suggested waiting at Montrose Cheese & Wine (Nextdoor). We went over to the wine bar and luckily got a text just in time to order under the happy hour. We hurried over and asked to place our order almost immediately. We each ordered a cocktail and two pizzas to share (but we got 3 due to a kitchen error which was amazing). The cocktails tasted great (I had an espresso martini) and the pizza was good as well. While the pizza wasn't my favorite ever, it's hard to beat with the HH deal they offer! The restaurant is upscale casual so you have flexibility in attire but I suggest dressing up a bit. We would definitely go back for the HH but would make sure to have reservations next time.

Southern smoke pizza
Brittany M.

Great Italian spot. You get a complimentary taste of red wine which is cute. Everything we got was good but the focaccia is an absolute must. It's very big and is stuffed with a meat and cheese. The fig dip was sweet and a little savory. I'm a fig girl so I would get it again as well. The southern smoke pizza is like a sub sandwich on a nice flat bread. Very unique and filling. I would miss the lamb ragú. It wasn't bad but it wasn't very interesting. The lamb was all you could really taste. Honestly I was full after the focaccia and fig dip. Honey cake is bomb and they gave my friend a nice scoop of ice cream for her birthday but she is allergic to ice cream so more for meeeee.

Elegant and elite comfort food. A high and difficult concept and one that Rosie Cannonball accomplishes with ease. The interior was lovely, with an effortless grandness. We went to celebrate a birthday and I was immediately impressed with how attentive the staff were. They checked in and made sure we were taken care of until all our members arrived, but never made us feel rushed. The vibe was relaxed and our table felt private and roomy. I loved that it was a booth! We had the focaccia, roasted fig, Rosie's Supreme pizza and lamb ragu. Everything was delicious and generously portioned! The breads were soft and well baked, while all of the meats and sauces had an impressive depth of flavor. The spritz di Rosie was also a perfect addition, adding a fruity and refreshing aspect to the heavier meal. The tarta de queso, a luscious basque cheesecake paired perfectly with the tart marmalade and the chocolate mousse was a pleasantly textured chocolatey treat. The staff also gave my friend a complementary vanilla ice cream, which was a nice touch!

Ask the Community - Rosie Cannonball

Do they have gluten free pizza or pasta?

I did not see this option. Phone them and ask.

Is there a brunch menu?

Nope, just a lunch menu. They are open for lunch on Saturday starting at 11:30 but they are only open for dinner on Sunday.

Is it by reservation or can you walk in for a table or sit at the bar?

I recommend making a reservation but you can walk in and sit at a high top table or at the bar.

Do they have a dress code?

I don't think there is an official dress code but because of the ambiance, I would recommend semi casual/semi dress.

Has the menu changed during the pandemic?

Does this place have outdoor seating?

Yes, the have outdoor seating.

Are there gluten-free options?

I went with a friend last weekend who is dairy and gluten free and they were able to make some changes to dishes to accommodate her no problem.

What is green sauce on fennel pizza?

I can't remember exactly, but the base is broccoli-something! (Broccolini, broccoli rabe--not sure which one) It definitely tastes more bitter than a basil pesto.

We arrived before 6:30pm which meant we were able to order from the HH menu. I had a signature cocktail called So Fresh So Clean (love the Outkast reference). This cucumber based cocktail was very refreshing! I also had a Clover Club which I enjoyed (I love the egg white)! Fried Deviled Egg - I opted to add caviar for an additional $8. It was good, but I just really prefer traditional deviled eggs without breading on them. Market Fish - Absolutely delicious! The fish was tender and flaky, seasoned well, and the tomato bacon broth was soooo good! My only complaint was the small portion. Bees Knees - Delicious! Caviar Tots - Compliments of Chef, Ryan (thank you)! 2nd Visit: I came back for dinner. Our server was Chris and he was really nice. We ordered a bunch of items for the table to share. Drinks: I did a So Fresh So Clean because I'm predictable and I loved it the first time. I also had a Negroni and it was really good. Butter Burgers: It normally comes with two, but Chris was nice and brought out a 3rd burger so that we could each have one. I enjoyed the French onion flavor in the beef, but the burger was too buttery for my taste. Crispy Potatoes - Very good with great flavor. Mushroom Empanada - I didn't try any, but my friends enjoyed them. Hanger Steak - It took 40 minutes for the steak to be brought out and unfortunately, one steak was overcooked while the other was undercooked. I tried a bite of the overcooked steak and the flavor was there. The steak was tender enough for my preference. Market Fish - Red Snapper. It was a larger portion, but the flavor wasn't as good as the first time. Additionally, my fish came out about 10 minutes before the steak and it got cold because I was waiting on the steak to be brought out. I read an article on Culture Map that Riel is closing down at the end of August. If Riel is on your list to try, go now before it's too late.

3/6/26-Michelin Man? More like Michelin...maaaaaaan…read more.. In good Mel and the Doctor fashion, a rough week equates to "let's go have a great night." We get dressed up and venture to Le Jardinier. While we were super excited and ready for a great Friday evening, we checked in with an unwelcoming hostess. Mind you, this is our first impression since we have never been to any of the locations. He asked the hostess if we would be seated close or after our reservation time (that would determine if we would have a drink at the bar), we received a condescending toned response of "you can have a seat and I will work on getting a status update on that." Duly noted. A few minutes later we were told we could go to the bar to only then be escorted to the table. So we will look past that "weirdness" of initial service and get ready for a stiff drink...the bartenders know what they are doing! Martinis were the name of the game and they were perfect. Just perfect. The prefixe and wine pairing was the game plan. But before the fun stuff, came the bread service. Bread was more than bread, it was warm savory pillows with the perfect butter. Made a crumbly mess while tearing up the bread basket, expected table crumbler service, after, nothing. For Michelin, we expected the fine dining cleaning in between each course. The service was odd, and the servers seemed cold. The kanpachi and the scallop of the prefixe were Michelin. Overall, we might give it another shot, maybe it was a bad day...but still grateful to get in last minute due to rodeo season. Let me know your experience!
