Chocolate factory

It's more of chocolate shop that served coffee, when I want coffee it has to be open 7 days a week, it's closed on Mondays, but there is a but. For example if you were to get some wine from a liquor store they are very knowledgeable and there so "fluff", no glamour, no regal, but if you were to go to the winery of that bottle from the liquor store than welcome to the show, be they guest. The environment inside is inviting to stay , to look around, to enjoy a coffee or some chocolate .. nice music playing and tv with entertaining shows. I gave a 3 star not because it wasn't good but on this day, on Sunday it open at 9am , I like , no I love my coffee , my hot cup of joe, or java , or brew when I get up it makes me happy it makes me smile it love at first sip and a kiss at the last drop, but this my French broke from the previous day, so any cup of coffee would of been soooo good, btw 8oz is really small

Cocoa Legato is my new favorite place to buy bespoke, bean-to-bar dark chocolate! I love their chocolate, especially the one with sea salt. Irresistible. The cafe space is cozy, cute, and has a chill vibe. I like looking through the large windows at the owner and staff making chocolate and treats. It's awesome to have a "looking glass" into their process. Also love that all their pastries are vegan. This is amazing! As someone who cannot digest milk protein and is sensitive to eggs, it's great to go to a cafe and be able to order any of their pastries. Only downside is the prices are kinda high. I haven't attended any yet, but they also host concerts of indie musicians at night. So cool. Looking forward to continuing to support locally-made chocolate at Cocoa Legato for years to come!

We visited Cocoa Legato on Sunday around noon and discovered it's a fantastic spot. It's a bean-to-bar chocolate maker, a cafe, and a live music venue all in one. You can even see their small chocolate factory right next to the cafe, and they make all their cafe items in-house. The service was a real highlight. The staff was friendly and proactive, introducing the store and its history. I tried a few of their chocolate bars. My favorite was the Espresso Bar (70% Colombian cacao). It was incredibly flavorful, with a perfect balance between the rich coffee and the cocoa's bitter-sweet notes. I also tried the Sea Salt bar, which was good, though a little too salty for my personal taste. would love to be back for the live music and factory tour!

Around the corner near 85th & Greenwood (5/31/25)

Frequently driving through Greenwood, I had been watching the progress of Cocoa Legato's unveiling and wondered what Aaron Lindstrom, formerly associated with departed Theo Chocolate, would create with that location. Despite recently opening on 4/26/25, this has been a well conceived, work in progress for nearly two years. I had the opportunity to stop by on a drizzly Saturday afternoon (5/31/25). I am really into bean to bar chocolate spots (post pastry school), indie coffee roasters and cafes (yay Caffe Vita!), indie music shops & venues, and multi purpose community destinations. Talk about a major convergence in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood! Great addition to Greenwood's diverse retail businesses, cafes, bakeshops, pubs, cocktail spots, theater, and restaurants. Plus all the cross pollination with local businesses such as Caffe Vita, Tall Grass Bakery, Beecher's Cheese and showcasing local music talent. Super friendly owner and staff at Cocoa Legato. Good to see diverse customers onsite, generating curious glances from passersby and folks waiting at the Metro bus stop out front. Very approachable and welcoming to families, especially with enthusiastic little ones. Of course, there are beverages. Baked goods are vegan (muffin, scone, pair of cookies). There's also bites consisting of a salad, chocolate (!) grilled cheese, avocado toast with cocoa nib infused balsamic drizzle, and chocolate mousse. Other merch features their five handmade bean to bar chocolates, vinyl titles, clothing, and Caffe Vita branded items. I savored a 12oz mocha and took in the onsite vibe. All I can say from the get go, a lot of thought was given to the collective layout of Cocoa Legato: the production area, the cafe space, the front counter and pastry case, available merch, the performing stage, and overall interior design. Truly I was very impressed by the 12oz mocha. That balance of chocolate, espresso shots, and steamed milk. Flavor and temperature. It was so impressive, I had to let that specific barista know. I look forward to trying the Espresso Bar with 70% Colombian cacao, their collaboration with Caffe Vita, "Chocolate With A Groove" that I purchased before leaving. With future onsite visits, definitely I'd like to try the drinking & sipping chocolates, chocolate mousse, and the chocolate grilled cheese. As always, supporting local, indie businesses. Love that Cocoa Legato has such a unique niche!

Please support this new local business because this place is all about community. The owner learned the chocolate making craft from Tcho and Theo which explains why the chocolate is legit. He built this business to support the arts and the community. Not only do you get delicious chocolate dishes, but you get to listen to live music from a local artist AND some of those artists are featured on the chocolate bars. They do tours on the weekend to encourage people to understand the process from bean to bar. Check it out!

Great place to get chocolate of all sorts! Super friendly service. Good amount of seating. If you love sweets you'll love this place.

How I heard of this place: The long-anticipated opening of Cocoa Legato is how I heard of this chocolate haven in the heart of Greenwood. Friends chatted about it, the building's facade had a remodel, the signage and cleanliness of the outside corner and soon, the wafting smell of house-made chocolate: from bean to bar. Type of cuisine: All things dark chocolate. Made in house, literally from bean to roast to cocoa nib to smooth, creamy chocolate to bars. Straight from Colombia and the ranks of the immortalized Theo in Fremont, the staff has been working together for years, building trust, camaraderie and true friendship, giving Cocoa Legato a family first feel. Among their in-house pastries and creations is their famous chocolate grilled cheese, cocoa nib sprinkled avocado toast, drinking chocolate, chocolate chip cookies and novel-named muffins, scones, s'mores and more. Everything is curated. Everything is exquisite. Ambiance: From the wafting smells of chocolate that vent out onto the street, your nose leads the way to the warm, dark interior, where the Seattle hip hop scene and local, unsigned musicians are promoted through chocolate-music pairings, a small stage with couch and coffee table for live performances (Friday evenings), and an extensive bar/counter for the tasty treats. Servers are friendly and helpful with any questions newcomers may have. Every menu item is made to order, so takes time, which allows you to savor each sip of your beverage as you await your sandwiches, etc. Samples of their bars - currently: 80% dark chocolate, 70% sea salt dark chocolate, 70% espresso chocolate - can be found just inside the doors. As well as large windows to see the chocolatiers in action - both from outside on the sidewalk, and inside from the cafe. Music, as one can imagine is always fresh, fun and thoughtfully chosen. What I ordered: Having been several times in the ten weeks since they opened, I have sampled their mocha, drinking chocolate, chocolate chip, Sconie Mitchell, pride s'more, avocado toast and chocolate grilled cheese. What I loved: Their chocolate chip cookie is among the best I've had outside of homemade (maybe even including) in the city. The avocado toast is fresh and beautiful, their grilled cheese with dark chocolate intriguing and pungent and glorious. Why I loved it: Everything is so well curated and thoughtful. From the names of their pastries and treats, to the handcrafted beverages and music-chocolate bar pairings (new ones coming out soon!) has been carefully prepared by Aaron and his staff. Cost: Average to high

Cocoa Legato is a chocolate workshop and cafe by day and a music venue by night. In addition to the different in-house chocolates you can try and drink, they also have pastries and small bites including grilled cheese with chocolate. It's my favorite chocolate shop in Seattle and a must-visit small business in the heart of Greenwood!

The service and experience I had was great. The smell of sweet, nutty chocolate drew me inside and the hospitality of the barista made me stay to enjoy a mocha :D Will definitely be coming back

I see music events advertised at Cocoa Legato. What is that like?

When I visited, it was a lady on stage with an acoustic guitar. It was very calming. It's a small stage and small store, so it's not going to be a full blown concert.

The was really good - not too sweet, which I almost never order a mocha because they are usually too sweet.

Their breakfast sandwich is literally $13 for a $5 sandwich. Today I had a simple drip coffee. This was $5.77 Then, you notice a jar for tips, and it has a sign that says, "You have already tipped, but jar is for more tips if you want to" So, yeah.... This means already damn expensive items having tipping built on top of the pricing, and the biggest issue is that you are tipping without your own choice, AND it is done before you have even received ANY service. Wait a minute.. there actually IS NO SERVICE. You order at counter. You operate the card reader yourself. The woman behind counter lifts a coffee pot, and pours it into your cup. That is literally all she does. Then you... go to the other counter to add your own cream. Nobody has come to my table to ask me if I want anything else, or how is everything, etc. Don't correct to clear your own table, because they have it set up for you to do that to. I forgot to mention the creamer was spoiled, so the coffee was not drinkable.

It's a decent amount of biscuit with large chunks of ham and there plenty of seating to relax and enjoy the morning that isn't hustle and bustling like in downtown. I walked further to the metro bus stop down the street and was tempted to check the local dispensary on the next block but ran out of time. Will come back with friends, plenty of coffee dates and conversation were happening within but this solo adventure was just as enjoyable.
