This place has the best hot chocolate I've ever had. Period. No really- the best EVER. I am not kidding one bit when I say that. And I have had my fair share of drinking chocolate across several spots on the west coast. The first thing you'll notice getting in is that it looks nothing like a regular cafe. They have coffees, small pastries and truffles, and bags of coffee and chocolates on one side. They also sell some knick-knacks - think cute cups, teapots and plants(!). Then, there are bottles of wine. Finally, the records on on the other side. Yep, good old records as well as a record player. This is an odd combination, but I'd love to myself have a shop where I sell all of my favorite things. Now, onto the drinking chocolates - you can not only pick milk, dark, extra dark, but you can go a step further and (almost) pick percentages of cocoa in your drink - "Would you like 68%, 74%, 81% or 88%?" - and country of origin - "Venezuela or Columbia?" And if you're lucky, you may get to hear the story behind the chocolate you're drinking. Ask!

Chocolate heaven! the hot chocolate and the chocolates are little drops of heaven! We were in Greenwood and came across this highly rated chocolate shop. This is an Italian inspired chocolate shop which has lots of chocolates from all over the world, coffee and tea. They also have vinyl collection! We ordered Hot Chocolate which was made of Venezuelan Dark Chocolate (65%). It was one of the smoothest & silkiest chocolate drink we ever had. The owner gave us a brief intro about the store and we ordered truffles from Laderach brand. We took the Cardamon and Coconut flavors created by Laderach based on Indian flavors. Both of these chocolates took us back to our favorite Indian desserts based on Cardamon and Coconut! They were amazing! we also got a taste of new Chocolates from San Francisco. it was a dark chocolate made by Orange peels. You could taste the orange as well! The owner also mentioned that they are opening a new Italian sandwich shop across the street! This store is right at the intersection of a 4 way stop sign and has limited parking in front of the store; you can find street parking on either side. Lastly, this store is bit expensive and charges for the quality of the products they have!

This place had the best ever hot chocolate we've ever had. OMG! Never expected it, it's a little pricey but you are effectively drinking a bar of really good chocolate. Btw the coffee was good too.

One of my personal favorite places to sit back and pass the hours of the day away. It's very easy to lose hours of time here, despite its cozy size. From the Italian imports and wall of chocolate, to the simply packaged loose leaf tea and vinyls, this place embodies the true meaning of a "third place". It has all the warmth and coziness of sitting by a window with an enthralling book. The owner is a sweetheart as well and a wealth of rich knowledge and experience. I come back to indulge my sweet tooth with a few truffles or a chai tea. The vinyls selection is surprisingly large relative to size and caters to different tastes without showing preference. It won't replace your regular vinyl shops but it's a fun addition rarely seen in cafes, or really any business since digital commerce has become the norm. In short, turn off your phone, bring a book and enjoy a feast for the all the senses and the soul.

It's been awhile since my last visit to Chocolat Vitale and obviously it was pre-Yelp. Stopped in with The Homie yesterday afternoon (11/11/17) and of course, forgot to officially check-in! Wow the retail space had transformed with additional seating and retail focal points interspersed! Lovely layout with lots of natural light from the large windows. Got some of their signature drinking chocolate (10 ounces $19, 20% off through 11/12/17!) and some Cluizel chocolates: 4 chocolate coated orange peel ($1 for a pair), 2 with gianduja, and 2 The Homie picked where the latter two types were $2 each. I enjoy the retail sites like Fran's, Chocolopolis, Chocolati, Theo's, Intrigue, and Chocolat Vitale. Ironic that I'm posting during the Chocolate Festival weekend in Seattle. Yes, Halloween just passed with all those bite sized goodies. But if one wants to indulge and savor delicious, high quality chocolate and support an indie shop with personable customer service (especially from Janet Eicher), be sure to stop Chocolat Vitale!

remember the chocolate river at Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory? Ya? Well Chocolat Vitale is like a coffee shop that serves chocolate from that river in many variations. Super friendly owners that'll answer all your questions, make amazing recommendations, and throw together some amazingly chocolately concoctions! Some too sweet, some perfectly sweet, some with just the right amount of bite. It's very easy to get carried away and literally get chocolate wasted here. As we consumed a handful of truffles and drank a few cups of chocolate hot drinks - we were all buzzing from the sugar high followed by a sugar crash a few hours later. But I love this place for it's simple yet sweet ambiance and owners!

Lovely space, bet nice barista she had many variety of chocolates, wines, honeys, and plants.

A simple, eclectic, and appealing neighborhood shop and cafe. Inviting and kind owners, with a passion for fine foods--including chocolate. The place is cozy and comfortable, yet timelessly open and ageless. Go and support a great neighborhood business. Try the great drinking chocolate. Discover chocolate bars by artisan chocolate makers. I must return for lunch sometime and to try the house made chocolate truffles.

Hands down - best hot chocolate I've ever had!! And what a fantastic little shop, very eclectic, with a little bit of everything from tea cups to gummy candies. There is an old brass cash register as well as other old art work that adds lush character to the shore. Along with the sweet smell of the brewing chocolate, you can't help but feel as though you're being whisked away to another time. A sweeter time... And what an enjoyable time it is!! Thank you kindly Janet!!

Gem of a chocolate shop. Good chocolate bars. Real liquid chocolate, not the chocolate scented milk other places serve. Nice wine, teas, coffee and treats to choose from. We will be back.

    Doesn't that just look awesome!

This isn't your usual Chocolate Shop. I loved it the moment I walked through the door. Janet, the owner, is a savvy chocolatier, an artist, and has created (along with her husband) a very charming place. While we chatted I had a wonderful cup of Venezuelan Dark sipping chocolate and we shared a great conversation and passion for re-purposing. Not only is there great European chocolate drinks they have a nice assortment of chocolates by Theo, Dick Taylor, and Dolceria Bonajuto, Sicily, and coffee by Velton's. Chocolat Vitale also showcases local artists with pieces for sale and a great selection of fun collectibles. The day I was here Janet showed me a collection of purses that were made from old 33 album covers. Hard to describe or explain, but I thought they were totally cool. I love the neighborhood setting at NW 65th and 3rd Ave NW in Phinney Ridge and I'm looking forward to coming back.

They mostly do Mexican-style hot chocolates, made with all natural ingredients. The menu has a large variety of drinks to choose from. I'll admit, the prices are kinda high but for the unique product you're getting, I can understand. Also, I will warn you, many of the drinks have ground-up ingredients mixed in, so you might be chewing a bit on them as you drink, but I think that adds to the authenticity. It's part of the experience. I discovered Rey Amargo a couple years ago when I was walking around Cap Hill and they were offering samples on the sidewalk. It was the cardamom hot chocolate... at first taste, I knew I'd never forget this drink, and had to return to this place. The Spicy Mexican Mocha is another of my favorites. Smooth, a little smoky, a spicy background, and just enough coffee. If you ever stop at the café, the beverages are served in simple yet classy tall mugs. We loved the Xocolatl; it is 100% Mexican cacao blended in water that looks like a warm chocolate soup, and comes with a chili, vanilla syrup, cinnamon and pepper that you can put in yourself depending on how much you want. It was very interesting, bitter, spicy, and complex, not sweet at all! It also made the perfect dipping sauce for the churros, which were deliciously crunchy with generous cinnamon and sugar. We shared an iced mint flavored Mexican hot chocolate as well, which was refreshing and perfectly balanced. This little hot chocolate cafe is well worth the street parking! I highly recommend stopping by to try both familiar and unique flavors at a great price.
