My son treated my husband and I to a chocolate tour at Spinnaker. We were all pleasantly delighted in this informative and close-up tour on the manufacturing process. Jorge did an excellent job on explaining the different machines that separated the nibs from the beans, spinned the chocolate for days, and poured the chocolate to get the consistency right. We were treated to various samples of the chocolates they sell. It was impressive to learn some of the machines and the wood tables were made by the owners who are brothers. There is a coffee shop in the store and you can buy all the bars made there. The drinking chocolate is heavenly. The place is fun and has a great vibe. i live about an hour away but I would definitely plan on a return visit. read more

Their tours are very informative, easy to sign up for and very affordable given the personalized experience you get from it - lots of samples too from each part of the chocolate making process! The tour guides are very nice and friendly and also very informed on the chocolate-making process. If they can't answer a question, they'll find someone who can for you! Their founders hot chocolate is lovely and I had to go back and buy a bag! The gelato is rich and chocolatey, a slightly small portion but it is only $4. Since I'm newish to Seattle, I had no idea this place existed. I was coming back from Studio Moto and had a bit of a wait for the bus and saw this place around the corner. They had so many different bowls of chocolate samples to try! And no one was pressuring you to buy. You could just sample and enjoy. While I was trying some of the samples, someone walked by and asked if I was there for a tour. A tour? I wasn't but now that I know you can tour it, I'll be there!! I originally heard about this place at NW Chocolate Fest and had it on my to do list to check out a tour in their old location. Tour hours didn't work well for me so I never made it. Lucky for me they moved to a new location in Fremont where you can stop in and try delicious samples. It's also a full coffee shop. I really like the vibe here. I've stopped by a couple times just to check it out and see what chocolates were available. I've always been impressed they offer an oat milk bar. It looks like a cool place to sit and hang out for awhile if you happen to be in the area. This is also great as another place I previously liked to get samples while in Fremont has closed forever. I finally managed to score a weekend slot on the chocolate tour. It was 12$ for an hour tour with reservations made online in advance. I admit I have been on a few chocolate tours, but this one seemed a little bit more interesting. Our guide Jorge was great! He answered all our questions and of course gave us chocolate to sample. Of our 8 samples only 1 was not vegan. I think I'll come back in the future and take the bar making class. I also plan to stop off regularly and see if any new creations catch my eye. Do be aware the milk dark has the same light coloring packaging as the oat milk, but is not dairy free. I look forward to trying the Spinnaker Fog tea made with cocoa husks in the future. Delicious hot chocolate options! We went there twice in a week for their bees knees - hot chocolate with bee pollen and sea salt. Add a shot of espresso for extra flavor! I wouldn't recommend their espresso on its own since it's very acidic but in combos with milk it's ok. There are many excellent chocolate bar samples too. read more

I've been trying Spinnaker since they were in the neighborhood north of the U-District but am glad they left that place and opened a much bigger shop, cafe, and factory on Stone Way in Fremont. It's super airy in there with very tall ceilings. The staff are friendly and pretty chill. It's fun to go and try all the different chocolates. They put out a little bowl of samples next to each bar. I like a lot of their dark chocolate offerings and most recently, I enjoyed the 70% Puerto Rico and I think it's my new favorite. My previous two visits to the OG Spinnaker Chocolate site was back in March 2024 (2 bars) and Sept 2024 (gianduja jar). Somehow, I also missed their grand opening back in June 2025 with their move from Ravenna to much larger digs in Fremont. Again, better late than never! Coincidentally, I had just read posts from fellow Yelp Elites Gillian and Sierra with their positive onsite experiences. So it was great timing when a new TGTG opportunity popped up from Spinnaker Chocolate for a 12 piece truffle assortment. I lucked out with nearby street parking and finally stepped in their current location (3/10/26). Wow what an immense retail, cafe, and production facility, definitely larger square footage versus their previous site! To my immediate right, were bags of cacao beans (beans to bar production). And right in front of me was a table with their various bars and samples. To the left, there was another table with additional bars and samples. Plus there were additional featured merch, drinking chocolate, cacao tea, truffle boxes, nibs, and gianduja spread. There's also ample seating to enjoy beverages and fresh pastries from Maddy's Bakeshop (her pastry site's grand opening was back on 2/14/26). I noticed there was a sizable tour group wearing hair nets moving through the production facility. As much as I wanted to try each sample to discern between single origin regions, I resisted and settled on another 68% Colombia dark chocolate bar with Ethiopian coffee from Olympia Coffee Roasters and a bag of their 70% cacao House Blend Hot Chocolate. The latter will be great to taste and compare to a similar purchase from Cocoa Legato (another bean to bar spot in Greenwood). The TGTG truffle box (12 piece assortment) was most likely remainders from the Valentine's Day holiday, but an excellent purchase to sample their truffles. It contained four each of the following: Belize Ganache, Raspberry Caramel, and Gianduja Truffle. Not bad. I only noticed a slight bloom with the gianduja truffles. I was surprised that I really enjoyed the raspberry caramel with the heart shaped exterior crafted with oat milk chocolate. I love that this award winning, family indie business chooses to cross pollinate and collaborate with other local purveyors and their continued support of ocean cleanup from 1% of their sales revenue. read more

Ok where has this spot been all my life? I won't be sleeping on this cafe anymore. The drinks are delicious. They have little samples of everything, which was nice! The staff were really sweet and knowledgeable and helpful. Inside it feels like a hybrid cafe and chocolate factory, which is kinda cool honestly. Was thinking of my sis and got the 70% Belize one as well as she's a fan of bourbon-y chocolate (I'm a fan too!). Honestly can't go wrong with any of the options here.....such smooth chocolate with very accurate flavor descriptions!! The house blend mocha is essentially caffeinated hot chocolate ahaha I can't even taste the brew! Deliciously bold chocolate taste. The service was all very friendly and helpful and they helped me select a few things to try from their pastries. I walked 2 miles just to try the House Blend Drinking Chocolate and it did not disappoint. On my 4 mile walk I decided I deserved a treat and Spinnaker Chocolate was my choice as I was intrigued they do chocolate sampling! As Marie B. stated in her review....intense. As soon as I opened the door to enter I was hit with the lovely smell of chocolate! The smell was insanely good! Smiling big I stopped in awe as I entered just to enjoy the smell. How do the employees do it all day?! So tempting and delicious!!! I felt like I was Charlie in the chocolate factory! So many delicious dark and milk chocolate bars to sample. I tried the dark chocolates as that is my favorite. The best bar I sampled that I look forward to purchasing on my next visit is definitely the 70% Uganda with Bee Pollen and Sea Salt. I love bee pollen and put that in dark chocolate omggg so good! I loved the House Blend Drinking Chocolate was definitely a dessert type drink but very affordable. $4.50 and it comes with a chocolate piece to dip in the drinking chocolate. This was one of the most amazing places I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. No joke. Spinnaker Chocolate is a boutique chocolate shop in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. I am so glad we stopped in, as we were immediately met with the most incredible smells. This storefront is also the chocolate factory. They even offer tours! They have gorgeous tasting tables where you can taste every chocolate they offer for sale. My favorite was the dark chocolate bar with chili. Absolutely incredible stuff. My wife really wanted to try the brownie and the sipping chocolate, so we ended up ordering those. The sipping chocolate was like heaven in a cup. Rich, velvety, perfectly sweetened. The brownie was more like fudge. Extremely rich with great texture that just keeps you coming back for another bite. They care about their craft here. The quality and love put into their products are incredible. Though Spinnaker may be off the beaten path, it's absolutely worth the visit. You will not be disappointed. I like the whole idea of this place. Now that Theo chocolate factory in Fremont has closed, it's nice to have another chocolate factory in the neighborhood. Plus they have a membership program. This place is absolutely fantastic. In fact, I enjoyed my initial visit so much that I came back the following two days. Street parking was easy to find nearby. The space is bright and well-lit, with large windows. Staff are warm and welcoming. There is plenty of chocolate to sample. I tried an assortment of baked goods (chocolate chip cookie, brownie, flourless chocolate torte). I thought the cookie was a little rich, but the torte was excellent and the brownie was also good. There are also plenty of chocolate drinks to choose from. I have tried their hot chocolate and the Spinnaker Fog. The hot chocolate was a little too rich for me, but I thought the Spinnaker Fog was just right. It is essentially their take on a London Fog and uses cacao tea. The cafe space is very clean, and I enjoyed reading while I tried their pastries and drinks. We've been here quite several times. Absolutely loved how they offer samples of all their chocolates, and they all tasted amazing. They also have vegan chocolates, so if you can't eat dairy, still check them out! We've also got drinking chocolates from them several times (regular and vegan) and enjoyed all of them. Only reason I'm taking off one star is because i got their flourless chocolate cookie (amazing), and flourless chocolate torte (also tasty) today, then found a long hair in my torte when I was happily enjoying my desserts ... it was definitely not my hair (different color). That really grossed me out. But, I must clarify: 1. I like how they store their pastries. The pastry case seemed well isolated and clean, not infested by flies like the ones in many other bakeries / coffee shops. 2. Apparently they send their chocolate to Sea Wolf, a nearby bakery, and have them make desserts and pastries out of those chocolates then send those back for sale. I came here with my mom, who also loves Spinnaker chocolate. We have been fans for a few years so we were excited when they opened an entire cafe to visit! I tried the mocha and we shared a double chocolate cookie. The mocha was very rich eve with oat milk and the cholate flavor was decadent. The cookie was also to die for! We also got one of their chocolate "chip" cookies which are unique because instead of classic chips, they use shredded chocolate which melts into the cookie. I also enjoyed this one. If I lived in Seattle, I would 100% join the chocolate club. I love that there are tastings of all the chocolates because I could not resist buying one, and sampling them allowed me to make a truly educated decision. We primarily came for the sipping chocolate, which was absolutely incredible, but I also really enjoyed my friend's iced hot chocolate, which was less rich but no less flavorful and incredibly refreshing. This place is fantastic! The service is friendly, and I love walking in to try the chocolate samples and then ordering a beverage to sit down, especially when it's sunny out. I'll sometimes sit down to do work or just relax for a bit, made even more enjoyable by the fact that they have a (complimentary) sparkling water option at their self-serve water station. The chocolate bars are some of the highest quality I've encountered. And pretty awesome that they will let you try it in store. Reminds me of Dandelion Chocolate in SF. The european drinking chocolate and iced hot chocolate were okay to me. The iced hot chocolate was very watery the one time I got it recently. The drinking chocolate felt a little too fruit forward and somehow seemed both too rich and light at the same time. After trying a few samples, I ordered the House Mocha. Was it the best I've had? Not really. Personally, I was confused whether I was drinking coffee or chocolate. The coffee and pastries are surprisingly reasonably priced for the vibe and neighborhood. There's not a ton of space in the storefront area (most of the building seems like it's for production) so the chocolate sampling area can get pretty crowded when it's busy. Curious to see how long this establishment lasts in this location as I somewhat question how viable a business model built on $12 chocolate bars is. read more

Spinnaker has relocated to Stone Way! It's wonderful to have a chocolate store back after Theo Chocolate closed in Fremont. There are so many chocolate bars to sample, and I love how their dark chocolate ingredients are simply just cacao and organic cane sugar. They also offer dairy-free, nut-free, and other options. My wife and I decided to do a tour of the factory here, get some chocolate bars and try some bourbon flavored chocolate drink at the onsite cafe. The tour, where our guide stopped at various parts of the open kitchen/factory to explain what was going on during the production of chocolate bars, was thorough and interesting. It's the first time I've seen cacao beans guillotined, which is practically worth the price of the tour right there! The number of steps the owners go through to get the best --- and I mean the best --- beans and the best out of the beans that they get, is very impressive. As is the name of the shop, Spinnaker, which was inspired by their other passion in life: sailing. At the end of the tour we sampled some of their chocolates. We chilled afterwards in the cafe over a cup of a chocolate-bourbon drinks --- very rich, very flavorful. The ambiance of the shop and cafe was chilled and relaxing with the open air kitchen/factory giving the space a sense of industry and purpose. A very nice and unusual kind of vibe. My friend told me about this place so she took me there when I was in town. They have so many samples to try and you can try it all! I really can't tell you which are my favorites because they all had very unique and distinct flavors. So you really should try them all. If I did have to choose one, I'd pick the 70% Belize with Bourbon. I just think this one is the most unique and I haven't had it anywhere else. The chocolate at Spinnaker is next level and certainly unlike what I've had before... so much so that I'm seriously considering becoming a member. It was very interesting to learn about Spinnaker's in-store chocolate making process. Seeing the cocoa pod, machines, etc. in person was very cool and the people there were very welcoming. We also got to sample some chocolate (yum). There's so many flavors to love and experience here. My favorite was the 70% Colombia with Ghost Chili Salt. What a gem of a chocolate maker! We're new to Seattle and were looking for local gifts for our parents & in-laws and the chocolate here was wonderful. We pre-ordered a 4 pack online and were able to mix and match from the selection in store. Loved that they offered samples of all their chocolates, and overall had a really cool storefront. Such a wide variety of darks - my favorite was the 70% Uganda with bee pollen and salt, a great combo of sweet and savory.
