I am always amazed by how personal their service is. They even remembered me immediately just over the phone after I hadn't been there for a year. I see some of the bad reviews and I originally had one bad experience quite some time ago but they really stepped up their game in every way lately especially customer service. They not only just picked up and washed quite literally six HUGE bags of my laundry in time for me to catch a last minute flight, but Sal then called me now at 7:00am because: 1. They hung dry my leather leggings (just because they didn't want to ruin them I didn't even ask them to) and he wanted to see if I needed them before my flight! 2. To make sure I was happy with my laundry, that it smelled fresh, and I had everything I needed before I left! Also, previously, they have gotten out an impossible stain from a dress that no one else would touch. And the guy who delivered my laundry and picked it up absolutely insisted on carrying everything up and down the stairs with no assistance (which considering how much laundry it was...was a minor miracle). read more

Great service, have been their customer for 6 years, and we have been very happy with them.

This place had the nerve to charge $30 to reinforce some lose threading around a zipper. Not replace the zipper, just the threading. They also force you to pay upfront. When I picked the pants up some of the threading was still lose in the area I had asked her to fix and she gaslit me and asked for more money, instead of admitting she did a bad job and fixing it. I'm not paying twice for something you didn't do properly the first time. read more

Unlike other dry cleaners, Cobble Hill Cleaners takes stains out of shirts while ruining the threading/stitching... they literally will put staples into your clothing as opposed to inside tags, which on occasion, are accidentally ripped out by the cleaners. Over the past few times like in the photo below, I've found staples on the outsides of the shirts which has resulted in frayed threading. In the photo below, here are a few examples of work provided on a Dior shirt - prior to dropping this off, there was a stain which was cleaned but the caveats are that there was a staple on the shirt's exterior and the tag that's generally by the collar has been ripped out. Long story short, don't bring nice expensive clothes here. You'll end up being disappointed about the lack of care/laziness. Price wise, they are reasonable for cobble hill but again, I will never bring any of my nice pieces here again. RIP OFF. I dropped 3 pairs of shorts off to be shortened. They were $20 a pair ($60), which I thought was a lot, but I agreed. They were ready the day before I left for vacation. I packed them in my suitcase. When I went to wear 2 of the 3 pairs the pockets were too long, showing/hanging out of the hem of the shorts. I calmly brought them back when I returned and asked to sew a straight line and trim the pockets. They said it would be $20 addition for each pair to have the pockets shortened. What?! Is that not part of the service? I asked if lined pants were hemmed would they leave the lining hanging out?They said if I tried them on at drop off this would not have happened. What difference would that have made? They were marked with safety pins where they were to be shortened to. I would think you do not have to specifically request and or pay extra for the pockets not to show out the bottom. read more

Long story short, they lied when they told me the alterations on a new suite were going to be ready for a destination wedding. Now I know that the alterations could have been done in an hour (they had 6 days) but i didn't want to risk a sloppy job and another dissapointment. Not only did they charge a really large amount for hemming pants and shortening jacket sleeves (30% more than Macy's or Century21) but they didnt have the alterations ready after 6 days despite emphasizing that I have a hard deadline since the wedding is not in NY. I went to a different tailor before and he was honest and told me he couldn't have it done on time. After going to pick up the suite (which was exactly as I left it) the night before my morning flight they told me it could be done in an hour and ask me to go before my flight to pick it up. A job that they had 6 days to finish and charged accordingly. Their solution not only was ridiculous but they didn't show a hint of remorse or urgency. Save your money and your sanity and go to an actual professional tailor, as they are neither. read more

Recently stayed nearby and needed some hang dry laundry done. Order picked up and after 24 hrs came back wet, not damp 4 to a hanger. I called to see what happened and he said not every day he gets an order like that. I asked if he would give me half off the next one since i had to wait additional days to dry and he said no and chuckled. Some businesses think bc they are nice neighborhoods they don't need good service. Go somewhere else who won't laugh at you or is willing to accept when they have made a mistake. read more

"Donated" (Sold) my clothes (not cheap stuff) during lockdown! I've been contacting them for a year and am always promised that Andy or Sal will call me back, and not once has anyone ever done so! Even when I have gotten either of these two on the phone live, they too promised me a "call back tomorrow -going to check our off premise facility ". Always an empty promise...Finally just popped in on a Saturday, and both were there. I inquired about my dry cleaning, and they immediately seemed to know who I was, and even said something along the line of, 'Oh yeah, that was like a $140 dollar ticket, I tried to call you because we could've used the money during Covid ". And proceeded to, once again, tell me they would "check". I called them out, and they finally concluded by saying that they "donated" my clothes per regulation or law or some BS like that. These guys are liars, thieves, and also cowards who tried as long as they could to string me along. Not sure how these guys have been in business so long (not sure how long, but I'm just judging by their super old looking signage) I had some good clothes in that order, including suits, dresses, winter coat etc, and this really upset me. I'm not the type to get everything dry cleaned, just my more expensive or delicate dry-clean-only-labeled clothing, so that just goes to show that I cared about these items -enough to entrust them to a so-called "professional"! And I was willing to pay a ticket so high that I could've purchased a whole new designer suit for the cost of the dry cleaning?!?! Sal and Andy may be laundering something, but it ain't clothes!!! NO HOT WATER! Place is like a torture chamber, if they had to meet ADA compliance, they would never pass. The walk ways are cart ways, or both. Prices went up, so bring your pay check to wash your clothes with cold water and forget about drying them, the dryers doors barely close. I've been using Cobble Hill Cleaners for over a year now as my regular dry cleaning shop. For the most part, everything has been fine. Until recently. Over a week ago I dropped off a silk dress (never worn) to be pressed. I bought this dress outside the country and was saving it to wear to a wedding. When I picked the dress up it looked like it had never been pressed. Wrinkles everywhere. I had already paid for it, but showed it to the gentleman at the register. He told me there was nothing he could do because the owner wasn't there. He assured me that he would leave my name & number to have someone call me. I return home with the dress and then notice that the paper below the plastic covering is stapled to my dress. I then have to pull the staples out which resulted in small pulls at the shoulders. As angry as I was I decided to give them a chance to call me. I'm a regular customer & I figure they want to keep the business they have. I finally let a week go by, but no call. I called them & was told (again) that no one there could help me, but someone would call me back. I'm not holding my breath and needless to say, they do not have my business any longer. It's a shame that they take customer service so lightly. read more

CBC (as I'll start to call it now) does two very important things for me. #1 They wash my clothes so I don't smell funky #2 They wash and press my shirts for work so that I look dashing (as much as I can) No, but for real. They are a fine little dry cleaner. Here is what I like about them compared to my old cleaners (that was across the street (awkward)). - They are open to 9pm - They are open seven days a week - They take credit cards - They will wash you clothes in the non-smelly scent-free soap if you ask them to - Same day laundry service done on-premise by women who have magic folding skills I'm a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews, but then again, I'm a simple man with simple needs (clean clothes) and have rarely needed to have a pillow dry-cleaned or anything fancy like that. I tried these guys because the original place I went to closed down and said they would be merging with their partners at Cobble Hill. Gave them two chances and my husbands expensive custom done shirts were either shrunk or VERY poorly pressed. For a neighborhood business I'm disappointed with the lack of friendliness and respect. I've been grudgingly going here for 3 years. I stopped using the wash n' fold after 1) my sheets came back with bleach stains and 2) they added $20 to my bill without telling me b/c of a comforter. I stopped using the dry cleaning when I overheard another customer asking if there was any chance they'd ever find his pants. And in the laundry, the workers let you know their annoyance that you're in their space. Their rudeness always leaves me in a bad mood. A regular "double" load is $2.50. I've been sending my wash and fold laundry here for the past 6 months. Initially, I was really pleased with their work and I was happy to spend a little more money to support a local business rather than Cleanly/Flycleaners/etc., but the service has gone very downhill very quickly. Twice, they never showed up to pick up/drop off and entire evenings were wasted waiting for them. This last time, the clothes REEKED so terribly--as if they'd been sitting in a machine unattended for hours--that I had to send back to be re-laundered. Then when I opened the bag, everything was very wrinkled and folded in a thousand different directions, like the dry clothes were sitting in a hamper for hours waiting to be folded. It took me 90 minutes to unpack and refold. I needed to iron clothes that don't ordinarily need to be ironed because they were returned so wrinkly. For a service that is meant to be a convenience, it's been nothing but a total timesuck and a headache. I've also been trying to call their number for the past 45 minutes and keep getting a busy signal. That tells you a lot about the type of business and customer-service they provide. read more

Trustworthy and friendly, we do our laundry here every week. Yes, the space is crowded and tight, but staff is consistently helpful.

On the one hand, the people are nice, the place is open on Sundays, and they've tried hard. But today was one for the books. I had a knit sweater that is in the shop for its second re-do. I wrote a note (since they picked up for free) asking for their recommendation for it and the other knit shirts/light sweaters in my bag: they don't technically need to be dry-cleaned so what do you suggest? I got my wash & fold back today: some of those knits are sent to be dry cleaned (that's OK), some were delivered today without being dried and wet on a hanger... and my underwear was also wet and hanging on hangers. Underwear? Seriously? That's just stupid. Full disclosure: I've been using them for years and will not yet give up on them. I don't trust other cleaners any more than these guys frankly. read more

Absolutely terrible! They destroyed my $400 new leather jacket. When confronted, the manager stated that it was not supposed to be dry cleaned and that he would send it out to fix the sleeves that were completed peeled off. Since COVID, when we no longer could go to our local cleaner, we began using Cobble Hill Cleaner for both wash and fold and dry cleaning. They have been wonderfully professional in pick up and delivery. Our clothing comes back pristine and well-folded. And they are very honest. We left a money clip with credit cards and cash in the pocket of our pants and Sal, the owner called us right away to let us know. Cobble Hill Cleaners has been my go-to for laundry ever since I moved to this neighborhood. I never liked the idea of entrusting my socks and underwear and favorite jeans to a cleaning business rather than my own washing machine, but hey, I don't have a washer or dryer here and there's no laundromat I can get to easily so drop-off service it is! CHC picks up and delivers every load for no extra charge (I do try and tip the delivery guys), basically on-demand every day of the week. Almost every time I call, they send someone to my apartment within 30 minutes. They've lost a few socks, of course, and they're not cheap--I end up paying about $25 whenever I give them 18-20 pounds of laundry. But I can't imagine getting better or more reliable service anywhere else nearby. read more

This Cobble Hill laundry/dry cleaners has been cleaning my cloths for the past 4 years and worth the walk from Carroll Gardens! Professional and friendly they offer thoughtful service. I recently dry cleaned a shirt that had a missing button. I forgot to tell them about it when I dropped it off and sure enough... they replaced it when I picked it up! A nice surprise when I came home. Another favorite reason for the 5 Star review is the fact that they don't use harsh chemicals when dry-cleaning the clothes. I have been to 3 dry-cleaners in my neighborhood and they all have that dry-cleaning smell! Cobble Hill Cleaners NEVER, EVER has it and I just love them for it! Oh! I almost forgot! Nice staff, good fluff-n-fold service, fine dry cleaning service. Have been bringing my laundry in for about 2 years. I am happy with the work they do and their customer service: the staff is efficient and nice, and my laundry comes back well-laundered and folded. I have never had a problem with them, and they've never lost an article of clothing, either. From a dry-cleaning perspective, I've been happy with the blouses and slacks that I have brought in, but I have not tried my non-traditional items (a sari and a kimono). read more

This is the first laundry service I've found in the area I'm genuinely pleased with. Their delivery hours extend later than many. From my initial phone call to final delivery, communication was clear, friendly, and accommodating. My request for hang drying of some items was met without complaint and honored, neither of which is the norm in my experience. I've tried several other wash and fold delivery services in the Boerum Hill neighborhood, but never more than once. Usually the delivery hours are restrictive, the prices high, and special requests hard to voice or confirm. These people are friendly enough but it is really not a good place to do your own laundry. You are constantly having to jockey around the workers who are trying to do the laundry they are paid to do by the pound. There is no soap in the bathroom so The people who work there are doing their stuff and then touching your clothes. Unless they keep it locked up which is also gross because the customers can't use it. Plus if you buy soap each load ends up costing about $10 so you may as well let them do it. I just don't like my clothes dried by someone else. And touched by dirty hands. read more

Cobble Hill Cleaners will destroy your property and deny responsibility. My wife and I have been regular customers of this business for over two years, sending all our laundry and dry cleaning here (clothes, sheets, dress shirts, dresses, wool suits, etc) and spending upwards of $200/month. While their work is just OK for the prices they charge, we've stuck with them because they are open late and Sundays and deliver & pick up from our apartment. Then I went to put on my only expensive/nice wool suit that had been cleaned and delivered by Cobble Hill Cleaners a couple weeks earlier and was hanging in plastic in my closet. A gaping hole had been shredded into the rear of the pants--the right leg was practically hanging off. I took the damaged suit to them expecting to be treated like a valued, long-term customer. They refused all responsibility and did not even offer a credit or some other small gesture of good faith. My expectations are low for dry-cleaners--at a very minimum, don't destroy my nice things. My recommendation is that these guys are fine for basic wash and fold. DO NOT let them handle anything of any quality. Not to be trusted. read more
