Overall: Absolutely terrible do not come to this restaurant. Service: Lady with blonde hair and glasses gave us a 20-30 minute wait time. When we came in, we saw no one in here. There was only 2-3 tables being used. Food: Limited brunch menu. Orange juice is not fresh. They gave me an iced coffee without a straw. Out of the Bagel and Lox. Also, there is a $10 difference ($21, $32) between the steak on the kids menu vs. the steak on the adults menu. They are both the same size (6oz.) Kid's Steak and Fries: First batch was way too salty. Had to send back again. Fries crispy. (5/10) All American Breakfast: Put the packaged jam and butter on top of the food. The potato cake had no seasoning and had to eat with ketchup. Slightly elevated Denny's. (3/10) Beet and Burrata Salad: yummy, but honestly a little sad in terms of not being very filling. (6.5./10) Bathroom: piss on floor and on the toilet seat. read more

Raw fish. I'll let the photo attached speak for itself. It was pink and extremely squishy. Smelled raw. Poor service - server never came by to check on the table after the food came out. Never came by to refill the empty drink cups. The dining room was empty there was no reason for such poor service. She would pass by the table and ignore us. Eventually we got tired of being ignored and waived her down to get the check. Other info: Dinner doesn't start until 5pm. Brunch menu is extremely limited. They are out of a lot of items. The dining room is very hot. No AC. The water they give you is warm with no ice. You must request ice for your water. No wine menu provided with the brunch menu. No valet. No coat check. No electric car chargers. No nearby parking/ street is very busy with tourists Fish import from Morro Bay -just go there. read more

So we're here celebrating our honeymoon in Solvang California and this is our last night here and we finally decided to come to Coast range and we're happy that we were able to experience this place at least one night here. Because the food was delicious the service was amazing drinks were amazing phenomenal we cannot recommend this place enough. This is a spot you should not mess the ambience is also amazing there are some boots that are kind of separated so you're kind of in your own little cubby our little cubby featured national parks and we just absolutely love it the ambience is very classy it's clean leather placemats leather check presenters. amazing! The wagyu stroganoff was supposed to be the Michelin recommendation but honestly we didn't really taste the horseradish and we thought the gravy was too sweet the pasta was clearly homemade and that made it delicious but you need to stir the whole dish before you actually begin to eat it and I think that's what made it the best. These people here need to make a filet mignon stroganoff and the guest can choose do they want wagyu or filet mignon stroganoff or you can do both!! Just an idea! read more

I only knew of Coast Range because I wanted to check out their attached bar. I figured, why not try their restaurant out as well. I made a reservation and they seemed like they were running a little behind so I got to try out their bar a little earlier than I had planned (separate review later.) Got seated about 15 minutes after the reservation, not too bad for a busy weekend night. After waiting for a while I was pretty hungry so I started out with not one, but two apps: the artichoke and the octopus. The artichoke was good-there was a ton of cheese and peppers on the top but the following leaves were still pretty flavorful. I thought it would be disappointed by the octopus because it seemed like it was one tentacle in a sea of lima beans. What I will say is that yes, it's a single tentacle but it goes so well with the beans. In fact, I was eager to finish the beans even after the feature item was gone; if they changed the item to just the beans I would still order it. For my main, I decided to go for one of their steaks and I went for the ribeye and I got the mac and cheese as well as the mushrooms. The ribeye comes with a sauce and I got the black truffle jus. I didn't need the jus-the ribeye was cooked to my doneness and it was terrific-went particularly well with the mushrooms which wasn't a surprise. The shells though were marketed as 'Big Shell Mac n' Cheese' and I'm like yeah sure. They were huge, like manicotti but the cheese combination of sheep milk and comte was rich without being overly so, not sure how they got it to that point but it was there. By that point, I was literally too full to even hear about dessert, so guess I'll have to come back. read more

This is a busy spot but we were able to get a table on a holiday weekend Sunday evening, without a reservation. The service was good if a bit hectic. We tried the rigatoni with wagyu, veal parmesan, and their version of chicken fried steak. All were decent, though not standouts. We sat inside due to the heat, but there was a cute dog-friendly patio out front with an adjoining bar. read more

So I had better hopes for CR but was ultimately disappointed. I've had their donuts through a friend and loved them, came here for that but was told they do not have them (all day that day they didn't have and were not making more) so then decided to sit down and get something to eat. Got their fish & chips which were good except for the young waitor dropping one on the table so I had to wait for a new one. My water glass had a crack at the lip which isn't a good touch, and i found a NOODLE in my VANILLA BEAN CHEESECAKE?? i thought it couldn't worse honestly. This visit really upset me from my previous rave I told my friends about their food. read more

My wife and I's experience at Coast Range was pretty underwhelming, especially for a Michelin star restaurant. My wife ordered pasta (I forget the exact name), but unfortunately, she said she's had better pasta at places like Olive Garden. I ordered the filet mignon with a side of mac and cheese, and both dishes fell flat. The mashed potatoes were delicious, but that alone couldn't save the rest of the meal. The steak itself was bland, and I've had much better at other restaurants. The mac and cheese was the biggest disappointment--it used large pasta shells, and the cheese had a plasticky taste, almost like Velveeta or something microwaved. I only managed to eat a few bites before leaving it. I finished the steak out of necessity, but it wasn't enjoyable. The service was okay, somewhere between average and good--not bad, but not standout. Due to having our dog with us, we sat outside, which placed us right next to the bar. It was loud, with people cheering over sports games, and made it hard to enjoy a nice dinner. It felt like we were eating outside a bar, rather than at a high-end restaurant. The ambiance of Solvang itself is charming, and there was a friendly dog that roamed around, but overall, the experience was underwhelming. It left us wishing we had returned to the other restaurant we tried earlier that day. read more

There are so many restaurants in Salvage. This is one you must try! I went for lunch and had their chicken sandwich, and it was one of the best meals I ever had during my stay. The service was spectacular! Don't hesitate to go in and try it for yourself! read more

I am so disappointed by this experience. Me and my 3 girlfriends went here for a birthday dinner and what should have been a quick dinner turned into a 2 hour experience of extremely slow service- and this place is not cheap. Issues in summary: -first appetizer arrived- waited 10 min for cutlery- so we were just staring at the food (we only ordered appetizers- no entrees) - water was not refilled for 30 min until we asked -45 min for the glass of wine to come out - did not write down our baked potato order- so that was never served. The server said she would have remembered because they have been sold out. The table next to us received theirs. We even saw the table next to us furious and demanding the check. Their dessert came out as they were leaving and they asked for it to go. The server said "sorry we can't pack it to go" wowwww It was a soufflé so I get it, but do what you can to make the guest happy at that point. We didn't even get a chance to go dancing at the maverick for the birthday girl because the dining experience took so long. So we went straight back to the hotel and munched on some snack since we left hungry from the crazy long wait. Really too bad! read more

Coast Range - Business owner response to our dinner experience - Steakhouses Near Me - Solvang, California

We were looking for a place to relax have dinner and they were booked for dinner so we opted for sitting in the bar. Not a problem for us as we are 3 adult men. We sat at the bar and the bartender was helping other guests so we waited. When he was able to come over I asked "can we see a food menu", his response "yeah but I want to know what you are drinking" in a very rude dismissive tone. It was jarring on how rude he was, but played it off as they were busy. As soon as he took our drink orders he started talking to other guests and was really friendly. Still I dismissed it. When we were ready to order a very nice female bartender came and took our order (she was great!). Later after waiting awhile to get another drink noticed he was leaning on the bar watching the Rams game. He finally glanced over and I raised my hand to get his attention, he came over, and I ordered another. His response "huh"and turned away and made our drinks. I was still willing to give him the benefit of doubt, but then helped the couple next to us and was very nice to them. Not sure what his problem is but would not recommend this place unless they can hire people that can at least be somewhat respectful. Ironically this is what is posted behind the bar (photo). Will not be returning, although the food was great! read more

The atmosphere is very nice, but unfortunately we were a bit underwhelmed by the food. The $7 dinner rolls were probably the tastiest thing of the night for me. My filet was the least flavorful and one of the toughest I've had. My wife's was very tender but we both had to salt our streaks multiple times because they were simply bland. The sides we got were ok (cream corn and sautéed mushrooms), but weren't all that flavorful either. If the bill was $100, I would have walked away pretty satisfied, but it was well over $200 for the 2 of us (and I had water only, my wife had one glass of wine). By no means was it bad (and the streaks were cooked perfectly), but I think there are a lot better fine dining options for the price. read more

I understand why this place has a Michelin star. The steak was so delicious! We ordered the house rolls - which is basically Hawaiian rolls with random stuff on top, so honestly not worth the money. We also ordered the chilled lobster which was also delicious but also not worth the money since I can easily make that at home. But the sauces were amazing! The highlight was the prime New York steak we ordered which was cooked amazingly. It was so crispy and flavorful on the outside and juicy on the inside. Unfortunately, there are no sides that come with the steak like many other restaurants do. Service was great and food was satisfactory, but will probably not be coming back here since I personally don't think it's worth the price. read more

To celebrate my birthday. The food was good. The appetizers were amazing--crispy tuna Asian--scallops extraordinary--rolls were wonderful, nice French butter, but they came out last. Oysters were great. The sides were good--creamed spinach pop tartMac and cheese. The entrees were okay. The halibut was slightly overcooked w/ cauliflower 'emulsion -uninteresting and little pieces of broccoli with pomegranate does not make a gremolata. Potato w/ fish was awful. Rib eye was okay according to husband. The table where they sat us--not a booth--was very noisy where they had extra plates and silverware etc. it was also very small for the big plates of food. We were sat across from this staging area with a case of red meat wrapped in plastic. I don't eat red meat and it made me sick to look atThe donuts were good, but too sweet. The service was abysmal. The waitress seemed unsure of herself and what she was doing. She came to the table got us water and she had an internal dialogue that she verbalized that sounded like "let's see, what else," and then she'd list what she had done and given us thus far...every 5 seconds or so she'd say, can I get you anything else right now" it became annoying. Then she disappeared after she took our appetizer order. The manager? Noticed my husband who kinda waived the menu and the manager acted pissed off at us and when he took the rest of our order and I wondered "why is it our fault?" Honestly, should a guest at a Michelin listed restaurant ever wonder "what did I do wrong? why are they mad at us?" And they were. The waitress told us that she was aware that she didn't take our order fast enough for us (strange way to describe it) and that she'd been with other tables. She apologized, but it wasn't really an apology. Do better. Read about radical hospitality. It's a way of being. read more

Absolutely great dining experience from beginning to end. We had a lovely dinner with 6 friends and we all got different items from the menu and everything was fantastic. We were all trading bites of each others dishes, everyone was excited to try everything and we weren't disappointed. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu, everything is so good. Our server was warm and helpful and the decor and ambience was comfortable and inviting. All of us agreed that we'll be back to dine here in the future. It's so great to see a place that does everything right, it's fine dining without being stuffy and unwelcoming. Bravo! read more

I had a fantastic dinner here over the summer. My friend and I opted for the bar because it was less fussy. The bar menu is slightly different and in my opinion, more approachable because it's very non-committal with a medley of cheaper thrills. We shared the following: -daily fresh fish crudo ($18): habanero yuzu koshu, shiro dashi + cilantro -chāteau potatoes ($9): hand cut steak fries with 3 dipping sauces -vaquero burger ($22): house ground beef, white cheddar, secret sauce Damn, everything was so insanely good. The crudo was citrusy and fresh - you could really taste the freshness of the fish without being weighed down by sauce. And the chāteau potatoes were out of this world good. They look like regular ole wedge potatoes, but they were so damn good with all the dipping sauces. Likewise, I loved the burger as well - super succulent patty. White cheddar with a burger patty is the way to go. Patrons were friendly, but the waitstaff was even friendlier. I ended up staying out later than anticipated, but no complaints here. Coast Range made for a great night out. read more

Had time for a nice afternoon lunch and was hugely satisfied with great service and super dishes on their brunch menu. Choices from a plate of oysters, to eggs Benedict, all reasonably priced. We settled for the French Onion soup (superb), and a couple of Philly Cheesesteaks that were simple and very tasty. Washed it all down with a HOT Bloody Mary! Nice outdoor seating across from Solvang park. As we live locally I'll make a habit of the Coast Range restaurant. read more

Cute place to eat, but if you don't normally add salt to your food, go elsewhere! If you tend to add more salt to your food regardless of where you are at, this place perfect for you. We came here a couple months back and had a couple drinks at the bar and service wasn't that great. We decided to come back because we wanted to try some of the appetizers they had and also celebrate my wife's birthday. We made reservations but it wasn't that busy at the time- 6pm. We ate inside and it had a nice old feel. Our booth had pictures of the old Fords back in the days. Service this time was a lot better than the bar. The tuna crudo made me wanting more spice. I'm used to eating serranos, habaneros, etc, but maybe they toned it down for the tourist not used to the heat. They do give you chopsticks to eat the tuna crudo, which I thought was unnecessary. When we 1st got the chopsticks we were confused, but when the wife asked why we got chopsticks, they said it was for the tuna crudo. Had my brother been there, he would have joked and called them racist f*s. Seriously, you don't need to give people chopsticks for one app. The steak tar tar was ok and nothing stand out about it. The grilled bone marrow had a good amount of marrow, but it was too salty for me. I tried to cut the salt level with the bread but it didn't do much. It was too salty for me to enjoy. The fritto misto had a good variety of things and included the legs of the calamari, but the Thai chili sauce made me want something spicier. The other dipping sauce was ok, and it was nice having 2 different sauces to dip them in, but this was also very salty for me. I was looking forward to the Tomahawk, but left disappointed. Not only was it too salty for me to enjoy, but there was nothing special in the flavor of the meat (the Willow's tomahawk has a significant difference in the flavor compared to their other meats, in a good way). They were able to cook the meat perfectly med-rare and they do slice the meat for you. The pomme puree was very creamy. I personally do not like creamy things, but if you like creamy soup, this would be perfect for you. The grilled asparagus had a nice charred flavor and wasn't too salty like the other meals. The brioche donuts were hot and fresh and had a nice buttery taste after the 1st bite, but then started to taste saltier and saltier. We almost thought the mixed the salt with the sugar. The vanilla ice-cream helped a bit, but not enough. It was a struggle for me to finish the donut. When I left the restaurant my feet were swollen from all the salt. I had to take off my shoes because they were too tight for the drive back home. I'm hesitant to give this place another try, but would most likely start off small with appetizers to see if it was an off day for the chefs. read more

Delicious food, great service and nice ambiance. We enjoyed our first time at The Coast Range.

Coast Range is one of my favorite restaurants for brunch. It is truly a delicious spot from start to finish. We love the outside seating & ambiance. The service was attentive & friendly. Loved that the way they knew how all the entrees were prepared. The food was fresh and the menu had a great variety. We had the eggs benedict which was really special because the hollandaise sauce had sun dried tomatoes in it which gave the sauce a pretty blush color. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone visiting Solvang or even passing through. It is truly a special spot! read more

Amazing food and cool interior space. It's a cozy yet eccentric feel at the restaurant but you can tell they're big on their meat! The bone marrow was great although it was a little too much vinegar for my liking, everyone else loved it. The chicken came back undercooked but they were able to provide a fresh batch that was cooked well. The star of the night was the artichoke and the steak Service took a little while to come around but otherwise amazing hospitality. Would definitely come back for a nice dinner. read more

We went for Easter Dinner and Hallelujah we are so grateful we did. Dark wood adorned the booths and many different painting with nautical themes were pinned to the walls. The menu is straightforward forward with meat and fish ala carte on the grill. There are sides and accompaniments such as baked potato, creamed spinach or big shell mac and cheese. They also offered blue cheese crust or a 6oz lobster tail among other items. We ordered the artichoke and fritto misto. The artichoke was juicy, buttery and cheesy. Some lemon on the side and maybe a bit of drawn butter could have been nice but was still tasty and the leaves and palm were nice and tender. The fritto misto was great, incorporating different veggies plus the calamari. There were sweet peppers and broccolini all fried to perfection with a light batter. The tartar sauce was creamy but the chili sauce they gave you was divine! House chopped salad with egg avocado bacon tomatoes iceberg lettuce and blue cheese crumbles and dressing. This paired nicely with the Prime Rib Dinner and Lobster tails but I think it was a little on the smaller side and overdressed. I would ask for the dressing on the side next time. Love the beets! Prime Rib Dinner with pomme purreé broccoli rabe and a horseradish sauce. Prime rib cooked to perfection, medium rare, melt in your mouth tender. Phenomenal crust was so dang good. Huge portion took some home, FYI: I think this is only available on Sundays. The lobster tails were nice and buttery had a great texture and flavor really enjoyed it all together. Melissa D was very friendly, knowledgeable, swift and expedient. A terrific meal worth the drive. read more

Went this past Friday night on a date. It's definitely the nicest restaurant in town. Definitely recommend the French onion soup 10/10. I had the New York steak (it was a bit crispy in the outside) and the Mac and cheese (it's big shells not actually macaroni). The food was good but not at the price point. The pictures make this place look way cooler than it is and honestly if it didn't have a nice tiled ceiling it wouldn't actually be that nice. Gotta say this is one of my favorite restaurants in all of the area in and around Santa Barbara. The food and service is top notch. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions. Every time I've been, I have had a wonderful server. This far, I never have had a food item I didn't want to eat over and over again. The bone marrow (pictured) is one of my favorite renditions I've tasted anywhere the world. The calamari appetizer is my favorites in Southern Cali.
