I came across Clutter, while looking for a moving company to help pack all our items and place them in storage. As of the time of this writing, Clutter indeed provides the full service including all labor, packing materials, pick-up and of course storage. All of this for a fraction of the price of any competitors. I was bit hesitant to go with them since their prices were so much more competitive than anyone else and it sounded "too good to be true." I called their customer service and spoke with Jaimie throughout the initial process . She was very helpful and ensured that there were no additional costs or "hidden fees". As a young company, there were some expected growing pains and it seems their business model continues to evolve. Previously, it seems they charged per mover/per hour, but now it seems that all the charges are built into the storage price, which removes some of the tension and unexpected costs stated in other reviews. One thing to note is that unlike other moving companies, the customer service in the front end seems a bit more business oriented with less actual moving experience. I currently live in a 1-br and have moved several times with movers. Typically, this has taken about 5 hours. They thought it would take 2 days, which I was very surprised by, even after we went through the inventory together. As a result, we ended up moving a day earlier and had to figure out some housing logistics. On the day of the move, I received a text 30min before the team arrived and was able to track their GPS location. They were scheduled from 7-10am and their actual arrival time was 7:30am. I was initially informed by customer service that all movers were professional. However, when the team arrived it seemed that 2 of 3 personnel were relatively new and still needed some guidance regarding how to pack fragile items. This initially gave me some reservation, but Emma, the team lead, was very professional. In the end, they were efficient and took care to help label our items. So hats off to Emma and her team. Not surprisingly, they were able to finish the move in about 5 hours. All in all, I was very impressed with the packing and moving services! I'll repost regarding delivery and status of items. Overall, Clutter met all my needs at a fraction of its competition. If it can truly keep their prices at this level, I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes the dominant player in the industry. read more

Horrible and disrespectful service! I booked their services with 2 weeks in advance, however 2 days before it they rescheduled it for 4 days after. Nobody even asked, they just rescheduled it. Hands down the worst moving experience I have ever had. Clutter cancelled on me at 2pm on the day of moving day, at the last minute no less, shortly after my arrival timeframe of 11am-2pm passed. Now several days later, my inventory (occupying a 5x8 storage space) only shows 4 items. I'm sorry, but I'm paying $150 for this service, and this is the experience? Come on... Clearly there are some operational and technical issues the company is still working out, but the company wouldn't even take responsibility for the cancelled move. They "had to" reschedule for the next day and wouldn't offer to secure new movers for the day that they had secured with me - that I paid for. This should REALLY be offered in situations like this... Fortunately my landlord was flexible with me moving out the day *after* my final move-out date... but for those considering using this company, I would highly recommend having a back up plan if you do decide to go with Clutter. One headache after the next from my experience. Yikes. read more

Recently used Clutter. Our first movers and then the ones that did our recent return, Cabral and Jonathan, were excellent. It's a great service. Friendly folks come and wrap and pack and photograph your stuff. Comes back to you with a few days notice. Did have one damaged item and a large bookcase did not make it back with today's delivery, hence the reduced star. But movers themselves were great and hard working. Hoping customer service comes through with my bookcase and insurance claim so I can give them 5 stars. read more

This company has got every little part of their operation down to a science. Last year I moved from a 3 bedroom house to an in-law apartment and had way too much stuff to fit in the new place. Clutter to the rescue! They packed up and took away the things I wanted stored faster than I could even say Hi!. Fast forward a year and I'm wanting to go through some of the things in storage so I scheduled an appointment to have it dropped off. Michael Finger was my mover; he showed up right on time, was friendly, helpful and maintained the best professionalism amidst the less than perfect conditions of the rainy weather, my narrow hallway and my haphazardly packed things. He brought in 27 boxes and took 10 new ones away in less than 1 hour! I can say nothing bad about this company, they have most definitely got the customer experience part of the business down and operations are flawless. Every single contact I had had with this company (phone, email, in person) has been nothing but stellar. If only other companies would look to Clutter to model their customer service! Thank you Michael and thank you Clutter for making this a slam dunk. read more

Awesome movers. Great attitude, asked great questions, and got things handled quickly. Will use again. Update: read the fine print carefully. I was blown away from experience moving out of my apartment with Clutter. Marcus, Everett, and Najee went above and beyond the call of duty to get everything in my apartment packed and into the moving truck. You would have to see the state of my apartment before they arrived to truly appreciate what they did. And on top of successfully moving me out of my place, they had the best attitude the entire time. Like, they were genuinely enthusiastic to move my shit. I worked as a mover for a summer when I was in college, and it is difficult to fain enthusiasm never mind be genuine about it. Anyway, I'm very happy with Clutter's service and would recommend them to anyone. read more

Clutter is amazing! Our company relocated into a cool office, but we had some furniture we didn't want to sell or squeeze into the new office. Clutter picked up our items easy peasy and stored them for us. The twist is that it's not traditional storage when you can go and eyeball your stuff whenever you want. They give you an itemization of what you've stored, along with pretty pictures of everything. When you're ready to retrieve items, like we are doing now, it's simple to schedule a delivery by picking the pictures of the items you want and they deliver them back to you only a few days later. Our drivers today, Cabral and David, were on time, super friendly and helpful. Our items (desks) were blanketed for protection, and they unpacked them, set them up where I wanted them, and took all their packing materials. We are giving our leftover desks to various employees in the Bay Area, and Clutter is delivering them all without any cost. It's amazing. I would use them again in a heartbeat, including for my personal items. Storage in SF is outrageously expensive after the promo rates end, and Clutter is an exceptional alternative. read more

Edit: Clutter customer service responded to my complaint and reverted unit size back to a 7.5x10. Quote, "I'm really sorry for the inconvenience and poor experience there. It can definitely come as a shock to have a storage size for 2 sizes larger. It looks like the issue was that your items had been incorrectly miscategorized. For example, your single 2-piece sectional sofa had two pieces, each categorized as separate 2-piece sectional sofas. Again, I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. Your storage plan has been downgraded back into the correct size of a 7.5x10." 1 star for the convenience 1 star for the pricing 2 stars for the customer service 1 star docked for my experience with the teamsters, who had repeated issues using the clutter system, making mistakes with the data entry thereby escalating costs (temporarily), and for taking 3+ hours to pack and move the Bedroom set and sectional Total: 4 stars ------------------------------------------- Clutter is a bait and switch operation. Use at your own risk. At pickup, I was suddenly upgraded to 2 sizes larger after originally being quoted a 7.5x10 storage unit, and once the movers packed the stuff, was "upgraded" to a 15x10 unit at twice the original quote!! The teamsters had no idea how this happened, given there was no change to the number of items, and suggested I contact customer service. They also stated encountering the exact problem with the previous customer location they were at. Also, an entire 2 bedroom apartments worth of furniture including this EXACT furniture had previously been stored in a 10x15 unit last year. To now see less than half of the furniture take up all of this space is simply not believable! I've written to customer service for an explanation, and will likely cancel if they do not honor the original contract! between homes and needing to move, but also store furniture for few months...selling home quite easy with multiple offers, but purchasing a new home difficult and taking time...do the math and finding hiring movers separately to move furniture to a temporary storage and moving again seemed extremely expensive with average moving estimate of being about $500 and storage fees of about $250 a month...hiring movers twice and paying 2 months of storage fees would have been about $1,500 total..add tip for movers and get closer to $1,600... clutter offering full service moving and storage...simple phone call and scheduling my appointment...$100 initial deposit...getting text alerts and reminders...day of the appointment and getting text alerts with estimated arrival time far earlier than scheduled...this was extremely inaccurate...3 clutter members in a rental truck came hours later, but within the originally scheduled timeframe...the 10x10 storage unit came with a special 8 free one-man labor hours...divide that by 3 and getting straight to work...darrell, malcom and jarred reviewed the items and started working...pictures, blanket, saran wrap, tape, barcode, scan and load...this process is very time consuming, so expect long hours...even with all items boxed and ready to load, all 8 hours was used up...you might have random breaks or lunch break stops in the middle of your move....clutter insurance will only cover items they box up and package...either you box it yourself to save on labor charges (no insurance) or pay lot of overage hours to let them pack it up which will take forever with the picture and barcode process...labor charge is $65 an hour per person...later on received notice that the furniture did not fit in the 10x10 and was upgrade to the 10x15 (just had to pay the higher storage fee which wasn't a big deal) insurance is provided at $1 per pound, $1,000 coverage for $15 a month extra or $2,500 coverage for $25 a month extra...read the fine print because there are many exclusions which will downgrade the coverage to the $1 per pound anyways even if you pay for the $25 a month premium coverage...unless you have specific pricey pieces worth upto $2,500, the extra charges for insurance may not be worth it with all the limitation and fine print... after everything is picked up, you can log in to your account at clutter.com and see pictures of every box and item...clutter is a full moving, but also a full service storage..you can select individual items to be returned or taken throughout the service...2 months later, scheduling return of everything and closing account...some pieces were damaged, but insurance covered the cost of 1 item and paid out $1 per pound for another item...again 3 clutter members arrived to dropped off the items...drop off was much faster and taking little over an hour for 3 people... summary: storage $274 per month (subtract $100 deposit already paid) insurance $25 per month pick-up overage hours (8 hour free) $3.25 overage $40 tip x 3 workers $120 (optional) 2nd month $299 ($274 storage and $25 insurance) drop-off labor hours $227.50 ($65 per hour per person) $20 tip x 3 workers $60 (optional) total cost to move, tip and store for 2 months in 10'x15' $1,008.75 insurance coverage provided $150 for damages (refund check mailed) revised cost $858.75 (1 broken drawer and 1 large scratch on another) for moving and storage, it was the most economical choice...items are stored in a warehouse, so damage is likely for large amount of furniture...take your valuables with you or store them elsewhere!...insurance is fast and convenient, but read all the fine print before deciding because there are so many exclusions and limitations....clutter is great if you pack all your boxes, take apart all your furniture and have everything ready to be wrapped and taken...if you do not do this in advance, be prepared to pay overage hours at $65 per hour per worker...if you do the math, it might be better to book the larger space and get more free work hours from the start and you'll probably end up needing the large size anyways, so book the larger unit! read more

HORRENDOUS, HORRIBLE, FRUSTRATING CUSTOMER SERVICE. Do not use this company. My first review was glowing - but that was just for the guys who came and packed our stuff. Little did I know that I would subsequently be given misinformation over and over, each time I spoke to this company. August 2018 - Movers packed our stuff and put it in storage. Shortly thereafter, I found out that the "unlimited packing materials" I purchased DID NOT include the moving blankets, and that Clutter would have to cut the blankets off when my stuff is returned. This is NOT what I was told when I signed up. October 2018 - I spoke with Bailey at customer service to coordinate my furniture return; she (said she) spoke with a supervisor and they agreed to NOT cut off the moving blankets if we exchanged for black or blue new or almost-new moving blankets. Bailey helped me figure out approximately how many new blankets to purchase (even suggesting places where I could buy them) and we finalized the move date. I coordinated with a long distance moving company to confirm dates/times for Clutter to move my stuff into their transport trucks. December 2018 - I received the following text today at 10:46am -- 20 HOURS BEFORE MY SCHEDULED MOVE: Tried calling but we seem to keep getting disconnected. However, I just wanted to reach out to let you know we must remove our moving blankets. This is to ensure and prove the condition of the items at the time we release possession of them. Thank you so much for understanding. Please call us if you have any other questions. (800) 805-4023 W.T.F. No, they had not been calling me, because I had my phone next to me the whole time and no missed calls. And why am I getting this notification right before my move is about to happen? I called the number and the rep whom I spoke with restated the contents of the text, and I told her that per my agreement with Bailey (who said she'd spoken with a supervisor), I would give them new blankets for the ones wrapped around my furniture, so they wouldn't have to waste time cutting it off and re-wrapping. The rep asked me what the supervisor's name was. I'm like, "What?" Was I supposed to confirm that Bailey had integrity and actually talked to a supervisor? The rep then told me the supervisor and Bailey would review the recording, and I told her I was ready to review it with them. She said THEY would review it and get back to me BEFORE THE END OF THE DAY. That does not give me much time to find people to re-wrap my stuff. Also, if Clutter re-wraps it for me, they will charge me for the EXTRA MAN HOURS for them to cut, then re-wrap. At this point, I have absolutely ZERO trust or confidence in this company or the people. They continue to provide misleading or inaccurate information, make agreements that they do not uphold and change things at the last minute. If you do engage with this business, make sure you have detailed notes or recordings, get each rep's name and possibly the supervisor's name, and ask for an email confirmation follow up of whatever is agreed upon. You need to CYA for when they flip the script on you later on. read more

I've been with Clutter for long enough to have seen it evolve in a few ways, but the movers have always been great, clear and useful communication, great at servicing the customer. There was a huge disconnect between them and customer service (the people on the phone), and that has improved quite a bit over the past couple of years. Everyone is always professional and the storage space, on-the-way, and arrival notifications are excellent for knowing exactly when to expect what. I have had to call for miscommunication and glitches in charges, but that was toward the beginning and seems to be smoothing out (I'll give 5 stars when it's consistent). Today, Reggie & Hirschel picked up the stuff I was adding to to my storage, and they were competent, friendly and efficient - what I've now come to expect of the movers! read more
