This is a fundamentally dishonest company. A while back, we received an email telling us we were entitled to one free delivery from storage every quarter. Apparently, this was part of a new "rewards program" Clutter started when it raised its monthly storage fee. We set up a delivery. Before the delivery, we called customer service and were assured that the delivery would be free. But "free," in this case, costs $209. After some arguing, Clutter refunded $125. So, I guess "free" means $84 if you complain. The customer service people we reached after the delivery tried to gaslight us. They denied ever offering free deliveries once per quarter. When we sent the documentation, they had no explanation for why they never honored the offer they put in writing. read more

Had a horrible pick up experience. Was severely overcharged, understaffed. It took TWO days to move me out, plus the guys they sent were extremely inexperienced; putting pots and pans on top of my wine glasses.... I had my stuff in storage for about 18 months. This time I had Marco and Zebedee as the team. They were AWESOME. So efficient, what took the other team 2 days only took Marco and Zebedee just over an hour. They were funny, kind, and respectful. UPDATE: No contact from Clutter. Customer service keeps trying to tell me they can deliver my items back to where they picked them up from. That is the only guaranteed in service location (Keep in mind I paid up front for delivery afterwards). Every other location I choose says out of service. You have to file a claim to speak with a supervisor. Filed a claim. Claim came back denied. So I paid the $279 to pick up my stuff and filed BBB and Illinois Attorney General complaints. It just gets worse. In addition to failing to re-attach a tabletop that they removed for storage without my knowledge, they damaged the tabletop by storing it on its side rather than flat. The circle is out of shape enough that the center firepit lid is jammed on and can no longer be removed. When I called to discuss this I was told to file a claim online. Really excellent experience with this service. I wasn't sure what to expect, but my team showed up and was extraordinarily friendly, kind, and informative as to the process. They also took great care with my items and it is clear that they take pride in their work. Marco and Abner worked together very well and Marco showed clear leadership in helping Abner learn how to work efficiently, carefully, and safely. They both solved some challenging, packing issues with oddly shaped items and assured me that my items will be well cared for in storage. They kept me informed as to the time they were spending and the space my items were taking in my requested storage area, and helped me make decisions in the moment as items were being catalogued. You truly get what you pay for. The movers themselves were very kind and polite, but they didn't put things in the rooms that I asked them to- despite that literally being part of what I paid for. I don't blame them as i imagine they're not getting paid well enough but I did have multiple items go missing and get damaged, and there's no recourse for that. I was also erroneously and randomly charged a $100 fee after I had already gotten my stuff back and paid for all services with them... that I had to catch myself/ that they wouldn't even own up to. I definitely don't recommend them and I think it's worthwhile to go to a more reputable company, which I will for sure do in the future. Update: Since I can't respond to their reply, just clarifying that I did talk to customer service a million times before leaving this review. It's a shame that their logistics/ back office/ customer service is awful because this is such a good business idea imo. read more

What a difference 4 years makes. Used them again because we had a good experience the first time. They didn't send us what we asked for (5 movers and 2 trucks). They didn't pack everything I asked them to. Then they didn't want to put things where we wanted when they got there because they thought we had the basic package (we had full). One mover complained the whole time! Had to file 5 claims for the stuff they damaged and only got back a few dollars. I would suggest hiring someone different. read more

This business is a mess. They charge for their own mistakes, do not upload inventory unless you harass them to do it, and are extremely difficult to work with. The amount of hidden fees is insane. If you can use literally any other moving or storage company, do it. I have never regretted working with a company more and am looking into other options for storage and moving. CRIMINAL DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY/HIDDEN FEES/NON EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE This company destroyed my furniture to the tune of $6,000+, our bedding and pillows were covered in mold spores to which my partner has a severe allergy and was treated at urgent care because his airway constricted and he couldn't breathe. There's a golf ball sized hole in our $2800 crate and barrel daybed complete with splintered and demolished base where it was clearly just dragged across the ground. Mirrored vanity is shattered. 65" tv has cracked LCD and doesn't display anything. There were 4 movers who were quick to leave before we started unpacking but not before coming back to knock on our door again to tell us to tip on cashapp and not thru the app (like I told them I was going to) because it was tax free. And then stood over my shoulder to make sure I left a 5 star review and told me to take a picture of his cashapp handle and to send the money there (see photos) it was intimidating and unprofessional and here's the kicker: Customer service heard our complaints and now refuse to take our calls!! We can't even get the claims department on the phone. Luckily I have several very litigious friends who can't wait to tear into this. The urgent care visit alone is insane negligence resulting in harm or injury and ill be getting every penny of everything they destroyed reimbursed and multiplied by 10x. I'm the male Karen nightmare and you messed with the wrong home. Names of the movers were Dion, Mikey B, Anthony, and one I can't remember. I have photos of the damage well as the photo of his cashapp that he told me to take a picture of while the 4 of them stood in my entryway essentially refusing to leave without a tax free tip because me tipping via the app wasn't good enough. I'll be posting my experience with Clutter in immense detail and posting to every platform on the the Internet that allows businesses to be reviewed. Too bad zero stars is not an option. Scheduled a move 2 months in advance in Chicago. Paid for set time. Received tons of pre-move texts. Paid a $200 deposit to make sure all was set. 10 minutes into my 3 hour move window, I got a text saying they cancelled the move and rescheduled for a week later. Flights are booked; lease has ended. I just had my third move service from Clutter. Andrew and Dieon did a wonderful job. I didn't have a lot but they were big heavy jobs. Both of them were flexible, efficient and accommodating. What I love about Clutter is the employees. Every team I have interacted with comes prepared, they know what they are doing and focus on getting thing in and out. Genuinely awful. I scheduled my appointment on the same day I was leaving town so I really needed Clutter to be there and on time. When they day came I got no text updates about them(which I should have gotten) and according to Clutter themselves due to a "major clerical error" my move out date was scheduled 10 days later than when I actually scheduled it. Instead of canceling this, and refunding me, they charged me $100 for "rescheduling" to this new date, even though I told them to just refund and cancel that anyway. This was apparently another "major clerical error". And then when I asked for a refund of that $100 they said I would be given it, AFTER my stuff had been picked up on the new move out date, after I had already told them I would be out of town, so there was nothing for them to pick up! Do not use, they will fuck up and charge you for their fuck ups. read more

I also paid for drop off to select a window and they changed the time. They can't tell you when the truck will actually arrive. It's the worst especially if you have to coordinate other details to your move. In my case, I was moving out of state. Even though I paid for a window they moved and when I called they told me I selected that time that Clutter actually changed it too. It's actually funny as they text you updates and I have a text thread showing confirmation of my original time and the changed time. So then, they ask you to file a claim regardless that they as the company changed it. They have a lot of repeatitive responses their replies are the updates you receive in text and email, so I don't understand how they are actually being proactive to resolve an issue. Do not pay to support this company and store your items that you don't even have access too and it's stored in a big warehouse. They mislabel the pictures in your profile as well. They labeled my items toddler bed??? I didn't even see my bed when I want them to dispose my mattress at drop off they have you select it in your profile, but I couldn't even do that bc of the poor labeling. SO PLEASE DO NOT USE I HOPE ANYONE CONSIDERING THIS SEES THIS. I'm a very organized person and they truly have rattled me with their poor customer service - DON'T LET WEBSITE PAGE FOOL YOU! Don't use this company. Horrible treatment by the Call center. They lost my parents wedding China from 1960 and denied my claim. They say 48 hours for delivery they would not honor that. They are not trustworthy. They didn't send a big enough truck for my things and then charged me more. They changed the storage unit size and billed me for it without my knowledge. You cannot get into your storage on their property if you need something unless you're doing a warehouse pick up. Not to mention that the storage for clutter is not close to your home making it very very difficult. I was so disgusted I had to move my stuff to a storage area where I could have access to my own things if needed. I tried to reach them for my drop off at the new storage but could not reach them. If you find out you are not allowed to get into your own storage never use that company. It's a United States company but you can't talk to anybody in the United States they are called center protected! The only thing good about them was the people my thing off at the new storage facility they were were great I give them credit! read more

It seems too good to be true! I bought new furniture for my home that is currently under construction in an effort to avoid tarrif complications. They ruined bent the frame on my headboard, dragged the white velvet across the floor, broke a leg off my dresser, and dragged my mattress across black oil. They "lost" several items and charged me $201 to get my destroyed items back. I triple-bubbled wrapped everything, yet they broke a large ceramic stein, damaged my bookcases and a screen room divider, and sheered the material off one corner of my couch. After two months, they raised the price, then raised it again a few months later. I can't say anyone could have treated my items with less respect. read more

I would skip Clutter and go with movers with better reviews. I got referred to them through a service from my realtor so I figured they must be good. The moving process they showed up at 3pm and left at 4pm on the first day so I ended up pulling an all-nighter to get everything packed in time for our move out. Okay things happen. They damaged walls, broke the amish bed.. okay things happen. They only gave me a partial claim for the amish footboard so I drove it to Indiana to get it repaired under that cost myself. The thing thats really sitting poorly with me is they're saying they can't process the claim for my Google Jamboard stand without a receipt which I don't have anymore. They know they broke it. They can come and take it and verify what it is. I don't even need a new one but offering me $200 for a $1400 item is absurd. read more

0 stars - predatory services & the worst customer service I have ever experienced. First off - good luck getting a hold of someone aside from booking the service. You will ask for a call back but they will email you instead (I am talking about you McCauley). During pickup I paid extra for a specific pickup time as the apartment in the city only gives you 1 hour window to move your stuff out - they were an hour late and only sent two people which caused delays an issues with my building. Paid for additional insurance on my stuff in case anything gets broken but they claim their policy doesn't cover items that are packed by customer, which I was not informed about. All of my items were carefully packed using packing paper and bubble wrap, boxes clearly labeled FRAGILE yet several items inside got damaged. After filing a claim several times and complaining they FINALLY told me they would reconsider refund for damages if I can prove things weren't damaged before they were placed in the boxes... calling me a liar saying I could be taking advantage of them, like I could somehow package glasses that were absolutely shattered. In addition seems their policies change quite frequently. I stored my items for about 4 months and when first ordered was told everything would be put together the same way it was before they took it apart, but when my items arrived the guys said they don't put items together, that it costs extra. The company is just a bunch of scam artists. Looking at some of the other reviews clearly I am not the only one who has experiences issues, so do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a storage/moving service. read more

CANCELLED ON ME THE MORNING OF MY MOVE. I had an appt for a team arrive to help pack/move between 7am-8am. I had several confirmation text messages sent the days prior to the appointment. At 8:30, after hearing nothing from them, I contacted company via chat. I was told they were "en route" and would arrive between 8:30-9:30am. After inquiring further about where they were traveling from, I was suddenly told the team had "called out for the day" and were no longer going to make it. They offered to push my move to the following day, which is completely unacceptable. When arranging a move, people take off work, reserve loading docks, etc. - there is not flexibility involved for a last minute adjustment. I called Clutter to speak to someone directly and was told there was "nothing they could do" - I found an emergency-same day company who was incredible and able to help me for half of the price of Clutter. Complete Destruction of Property with NO Expectation of Care for Property While In Storage--Criminal Level of Destruction is Correct! I can't believe the experience that I had with Clutter Moving. I made the HUGE mistake of using Clutter to store my terrace furniture for the winter. It was returned to me this week. These were four beautiful sofa sectional pieces from my terrace. When the pieces were returned, the first issue was that the team that returned them initially wanted to drop them off without unwrapping to inspect them. This seemed worrisome to me. I understood why they did not want to do this once the pieces were unwrapped. EVERY metal leg on all four pieces of furniture had been completely damaged--several nearly completely broken off. They were bent with some missing pieces from the leg's bottom base so that the furniture would not sit in place. The legs had massive scrapes (and these legs were in perfect condition because this furniture had never been moved and they are always under covers when not in use). One of the workers immediately blamed improper care during storage at the warehouse and she noted that this was an "extreme" case of property damage--every single piece of furniture was damaged. She immediately began to interact with Clutter over this matter and told me that she had taken photos and filed a claim on my behalf. The workers began to try to repair/correct these legs so that furniture might be useable/functional. Now most of the leg bases don't align with the base of the sectional sofas. I understand that a little scrape might happen during a move. BUT complete disregard for the care of a person's property while it is being stored (when you are a storage company) is NOT ACCEPTABLE. This company had NO expectation that my furniture would be treated with CARE while they stored it given this level of damage to EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE. I will be taking legal action on this matter unless it is properly addressed. At this juncture, the company seems to think that this sort of an outcome is reasonable and not their problem. PS I agree with Matt C--there are hidden fees and this all feels like extortion. read more
