Well, today was another special event, because Wings sent me an email for a free meal. Essentially buy a drink, get some chicken. I popped in while running errands. They were shorthanded but the new guy did his best to get me taken care of, dealing with my ordering issue while handling others. I got the three tender box, which comes with fries or toast. I went for toast, and got Carolina Gold sauce since it was new and I like it. It was okay, fine but not the best I've had. The tenders were big, crispy outside/moist inside. The whole thing is a smallish meal, a light lunch or a snack (I mean, free meal, I expected that.) Good enough, filling enough. At a super good price and with good service. Regular price is about $10, not bad for what you get. Place is small, mainly carryout but with 10 or so seats. Clean, decent parking in the strip mall, easy highway access. I'll keep this in mind (and maybe go back for free meals before the offer ends. Oh, and there's a minor aviation theme, keeping with their name. I didn't order one of the sauces or deals using aviation names, but as a plane buff I was amused.

Random lane closures on Broad made it a pain to get there. It is surrounded by rundown strip malls, and the access and parking are pretty bumpy. There is a pickup door, very clearly marked, but the regular entrance is just a little portico, the entrance to the vets, so press one of the buzzers. Inside, it's a standard veterans hall. Dark, bar the main attraction, with tables, pool tables too, quiet in the afternoon. The wings part was pretty busy, with dine in and carry out customers. And I knew that, and I knew wings take a while, so I was prepared to wait. Service was excellent, friendly, helpful, from several people during my stay. And the food was excellent. I was going to get onion rings, but they said on Wednesdays they don't have room in the fryer for those. I was a little disappointed because I figured they probably have great onion rings. Oh well. So I got the pretzel bites. A fairly small order for seven dollars, but the best pretzel bites I've ever had, I think because they were deep-fried. (They're smaller than onion rings.) Hot and crispy on the outside, tender inside, with a good honey mustard sauce. You can also get ranch I think. And since wings were a dollar I wanted to get a bunch but I wasn't super hungry, so I got six. Regular wings, with the Alabama white sauce. Perfectly cooked, big, meaty, juicy wings, crispy on the outside, covered with sauce but not smothered. The sauce was a little smooth and creamy with a little heat from the horseradish, call it medium. Very good. Went well with the wings. The wings even plain would've been excellent. And they have dozens of sauces, a bunch of which I would like to try. Check their Facebook to make sure they're open. The last few months they have had some issues, which seem to be sorted out mostly. Allow yourself some time. Come on Wednesday and get as many wings as you can eat. Mm-mm.

There were two-four person round tops and two-two seaters, and then a diner bar with stools that probably sat 7-8 people. There were probably about eight dine-out pick ups as we sat there and he had a steady stream of people through the door in the thirty minutes we were there. On our way out, Jordan asked us to put a sticker on his wall map of the US to show that Norman, OK had dined at Stacked Burger. When you pull up to the building, there are lots of bright signs. The parking lot is a little weird, with some concrete dividers randomly thrown by the street, and lots of spots marked "no parking," although they seem to be available. Inside it is a bit dingy. Tables were dirty at two in the afternoon with nobody else there. Service was, well, lackadaisical. Not very welcoming. Although after I ordered, and I had a couple of problems, they quickly and eagerly took care of them. They have chicken tenders. Not hot chicken. To me, hot chicken is intact chicken pieces. You get more flavor with the bones in, and you get dark meat, which I like, which you obviously do not get with tenders. The heat level is strange. Fairly easy to figure out, but as with any new place, it's hard to tell exactly how hot things will be. I went with two wild tenders, and a separate single hot one. The wild is red, but barely seasoned at all. A little heat in there; if you are not into spice, this is one to try, or even the Sober level below that. The hot starts to approach HCT's medium. Still not super hot, but a decent amount of flavor. It scratched the itch a little bit. The tenders themselves are big and meaty, although the ones I got were a bit dry. They came out within five minutes, so they of course had been sitting around instead of made from scratch, and that probably made the difference. The tenders came with a side of pretty darn good slaw. And a couple of sauces. I think you can pick, but I took what they gave me. I think the Goku and KO. One mild and mayonnaisey, the other a slightly spicy ranch. Plus there were fries, and these were the best thing there. Lots of them, crispy outside, soft inside. Good for dipping. Not worth going out of my way for. If I came back, I would definitely get the next spice level up. But I don't see any real reason to come back. You can go plenty of places to get spicy tenders.
