Jonesing for HCT the week after they closed, and this has been on my radar a while. Loads of hype. Mostly, it seems, coming from them. When you pull up to the building, there are lots of bright signs. The parking lot is a little weird, with some concrete dividers randomly thrown by the street, and lots of spots marked "no parking," although they seem to be available. Inside it is a bit dingy. Tables were dirty at two in the afternoon with nobody else there. Service was, well, lackadaisical. Not very welcoming. Although after I ordered, and I had a couple of problems, they quickly and eagerly took care of them. They have chicken tenders. Not hot chicken. To me, hot chicken is intact chicken pieces. You get more flavor with the bones in, and you get dark meat, which I like, which you obviously do not get with tenders. The heat level is strange. Fairly easy to figure out, but as with any new place, it's hard to tell exactly how hot things will be. I went with two wild tenders, and a separate single hot one. The wild is red, but barely seasoned at all. A little heat in there; if you are not into spice, this is one to try, or even the Sober level below that. The hot starts to approach HCT's medium. Still not super hot, but a decent amount of flavor. It scratched the itch a little bit. The tenders themselves are big and meaty, although the ones I got were a bit dry. They came out within five minutes, so they of course had been sitting around instead of made from scratch, and that probably made the difference. The tenders came with a side of pretty darn good slaw. And a couple of sauces. I think you can pick, but I took what they gave me. I think the Goku and KO. One mild and mayonnaisey, the other a slightly spicy ranch. Plus there were fries, and these were the best thing there. Lots of them, crispy outside, soft inside. Good for dipping. Not worth going out of my way for. If I came back, I would definitely get the next spice level up. But I don't see any real reason to come back. You can go plenty of places to get spicy tenders. I need to find a place to get real hot chicken. read more

My friend had this place on her list to try so we came by for lunch. It wasn't busy. Seems they had a lot of takeout orders. I wanted to get two different spice levels but you can't do that for one tender and one slider like they do at Dave's. I decided to just get a slider with fries. I told the guy at the register medium heat. The font for the heat levels was difficult to read. I ended up with mild. They don't really have medium spice. My sandwich was dry and honestly kinda bland. My friend got Hot and hers was juicier and more flavorful. The fries were good though! The come with a type of aioli. It was delicious! I'm down to come back though. As neither of our sandwiches were spicy and I'm curious to know how spicy the other options are. But I'm not really running back. The lousy part of todays service is they changed their combo. We ordered a combo and got the food, and I asked for the drink. He said it don't come with a drink. I asked a combo don't come with a drink? He said no. We been here plenty of times and got the combo and it came with a drink, but now you have to get a combo and pay extra for a drink. I've never heard that before but that's very shady business practice in my opinion. No matter where you go, you order a combo, you get a drink. Not here. They changed that. Why call it a combo if it don't come with a drink? As I said before, everytime we say the chicken sandwich combo, we got the drink. The other bad experience was we said no coleslaw and no pickle. They didn't listen and put coleslaw and pickle on it anyway. My wife said it twice and it seems they changed the way you customize your order, too. read more

Overdose Hot Chicken exceeded my expectations! We ordered this one of our last nights in Columbus this month and we definitely over-ordered thinking that the sizes of the sandwiches and slicers would be much smaller than they were! The chicken was fresh and great quality for tenders and cutlets. We ordered Dos Sliders and Fries (spice level sober), Single Giant Slider (spice level wild), Single Giant Slider (spice level hot) and an order of Cluckers n Fries with Goku sauce and KO sauce with a tender spice level of sober. All of the spice levels were tolerable and really full of flavor and not just spice, the Goku sauce was really really good! I think that was my favorite out of all of them! read more

I got the Hot because I didn't want to go too crazy on the heat level because I didn't know how hot it may be to be on the safe side. It wasn't that hot at all and I should've got the next heat level up. Customer Service was cold, void of humanity, and robotic but whatever. Food was good, they could've got up off of more fries. The loaded fries were absolutely amazing!! I picked no spice, because I knew even the weakest was too spicy. The mix of chicken, sauce, and slaw over the fries was amazing. Overdose Chicken has good food--I've had it a couple times before and liked it, which is why I went back. But yesterday around 4pm I pulled into the drive-thru, sat there for about five or six minutes, and nobody ever came on the speaker. No greeting, no acknowledgment, nothing. I could see employees inside and maybe two customers, so I know the place wasn't slammed. This isn't the first time that's happened either. If I were the owner or manager, I'd be concerned. The food is fine, but without consistent service, especially for a small business, it's hard to survive. I've seen spots like Lenny's Chicken go under for the same kind of stuff. Places like Raising Cane's may not have better food, but they always answer the drive-thru immediately and keep things moving. That consistency is why people keep going back. I hope things turn around because I actually like the food, but if service doesn't improve, it's hard to justify coming back. read more

At first, I was skeptical because of the name as an addict in recovery. However, once I tried it, I was addicted! The flavor (wild spice level) is spot on! Overdose replaced the Lenny's chicken nearby and they definitely surpass the previous restaurants standards. I wish the drive thru still was open but going inside was quiet and open. I feel like there is a lot of space that's not used and doesn't feel like somewhere to really sit and enjoy your meal. The food came out in about 10-15 minutes and I enjoyed both the tenders and the sandwich. The sandwich winning for sure, even though we ordered sliders. It was a nice size and full of flavor. The tenders were okay but nothing special. Overall, I'll probably be back to support this local business. read more

I order the chicken slider, fries, and jalapeño poppers from Overdose for lunch and I'm glad I decided to give them a try. The food is well packaged but was a little cold when I received it, a couple of minutes in the airfryer and all was well. Now let's talk about the spice level, they over no spice all the way to why did I do this myself I opted for the overdose and was not disappointed. Typically my complaint with these places is that their hot chicken is never actually hot, just some sad mixture of franks red hot and crushed red peppers wishing they were spicy. This was not the case here, i definitely got what I asked for. I wish they served shakes or something, it would have helped quell the burning. My chicken was a bit overcooked but better over than under so I'm not complaining about it too much. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I really liked this place but after tonight I don't think I'll be going back, usually the container is filled to the gills but this time it was way less than I normally got and I asked for their insane sauce but the sauce I got wasn't even hot, I had to use Tabasco sauce to make it spicy I couldn't use the drive through and I waited until I got home to eat and of course was extremely disappointed. I ordered the double bird heat level overdose. Take warning for someone that can handle the heat this was pretty damm spicy for me. Flavors were spot on with the saucey goodness on top help tame the heat down. For about $10 the portion was huge. Pretty much 2 chicken breast. The mango shaved ice helped out with the heat but tomorrow morning is a going to be a whole different story. Will for sure go back but maybe get it less spicy. read more
