Listen. This was a struggle in several ways. But worth it. I kept hearing great things about this, and I had some free time on a Wednesday, which is dollar wing day. Random lane closures on Broad made it a pain to get there. It is surrounded by rundown strip malls, and the access and parking are pretty bumpy. It's hard to get in: there are locked doors with buzzers, and it is not real clear which door you should use. There is a pickup door, very clearly marked, but the regular entrance is just a little portico, the entrance to the vets, so press one of the buzzers. Inside, it's a standard veterans hall. Dark, bar the main attraction, with tables, pool tables too, quiet in the afternoon. The wings part was pretty busy, with dine in and carry out customers. And I knew that, and I knew wings take a while, so I was prepared to wait. Service was excellent, friendly, helpful, from several people during my stay. And the food was excellent. I was going to get onion rings, but they said on Wednesdays they don't have room in the fryer for those. I was a little disappointed because I figured they probably have great onion rings. Oh well. So I got the pretzel bites. A fairly small order for seven dollars, but the best pretzel bites I've ever had, I think because they were deep-fried. (They're smaller than onion rings.) Hot and crispy on the outside, tender inside, with a good honey mustard sauce. You can also get ranch I think. And since wings were a dollar I wanted to get a bunch but I wasn't super hungry, so I got six. Regular wings, with the Alabama white sauce. Perfectly cooked, big, meaty, juicy wings, crispy on the outside, covered with sauce but not smothered. The sauce was a little smooth and creamy with a little heat from the horseradish, call it medium. Very good. Went well with the wings. The wings even plain would've been excellent. And they have dozens of sauces, a bunch of which I would like to try. Check their Facebook to make sure they're open. The last few months they have had some issues, which seem to be sorted out mostly. Allow yourself some time. Come on Wednesday and get as many wings as you can eat. Mm-mm.

Inside the vets building in the back right hand corner they do have the gate open but if u miss it like I did it's hard to get In u will need a key or knock hard enough and someone will open the door and u have to sign in and let them know ur there for the kitchen! Wednesday they have .50 wing night or it maybe Tuesday lol the cooks were cool and the lady at the front desk she was ok food was good and delicious the honey bbq was nasty! And every 6 wings if u want flats or drums it's a $1 extra Inside it was very clean and everyone was nice!

Decided I would hit Mean Mug Wings & Things today, it's $1 a wing day. I ordered some Cherry Smoke and some Honey BBQ plus I got Onion Rings. The wings here are always fresh never frozen. They have a nice crunchy coating and then they load on the perfect amount of sauce. The Onion Rings are homemade with a beer batter to a deep fried to a crunchy outer coating. Yummy!!! My server today was Dori and she was definitely rocking it. She anticipated everything I needed today. If you want the best come out and check them out at the AmVets at 3780 W. Broad Street.

Super casual restaurant located inside of an Amvets. The menu was filled with a variety of burgers and wings, exactly what the name would imply. Bummed that they were out of fried pickles but their hand cut fries were great. Both their burgers and wings were fantastic. When I mentioned that the Cajun wings were a bit more savory than I had expected and requested a small side of Buffalo sauce to get some heavier vinegar flavor, they offered to bring me additional wings! I was already stuffed so a sample of the Buffalo was the perfect solution. I'd definitely recommend, the food and service were well beyond what you'd expect from a spot inside of an Amvets!

10/10!!! Mike and his wife (can't remember her name ugh sorry) were incredible!!! And to the food ... wow. I usually go for the spiciest sauce on the menu any other wings place, and I couldn't handle the scorpion sauce. We loved the Thai ones and seasonal pineapple based one. Will definitely be back

This place deserve all the rave it's getting! Wings are good size, fried crispy with great sauce selections. Service is great, everyone's very welcoming and I have to give shout out to Tammy, she's awesome! I'll be looking forward to try out their other sauces in the near future

Amazing staff and incredible food. The owner came out and greeted us upon arrival with a very friendly approach. All food was hot and served right away. Would highly recommend this place for some of the hottest and flavorful wings around Columbus.

It was nice and quiet in there. The wings were great. Tried the Asian Sticky and The Bufflo Mild. The Crispy Chicken salad was huge with lots of toppings. Also had the mushroom and Swiss cheese burger with onions rings as the side. It was alot of big beer batter rings. Plus there are multi-game slot machines you can bet as low as 50 cents.

Amazing wings. Always perfectly cooked and very meaty. You will not find better wings in Columbus.

Or I've just been lucky. I did not expect to give this five stars, or to enjoy it quite as much as I did. I mean, it's a sandwich shop. Grinders used to be scattered around Columbus, and this might be the only one left. I used to go to the one by me all the time. This happened to be nearby today, and so I stopped in out of nostalgia. And it was pretty much what I remember. But a peak experience. Service was great, fast and friendly. The menu is pretty much the same as it always was. Lobster bisque was one of the soups of the day and I didn't expect it to be great quality, but it sounded good, and I got my usual club sub. Soup and drink, and bread for the soup (you could choose crackers) were up almost immediately. Sandwich took about 10 minutes, but that's of course because it's being toasted. The soup was fine, nothing special, strong sherry odor, lots of tiny bits of lobster. Pleasant enough, and served with a chunk of good bread. And they serve it piping hot in its own little crock with a metal spoon. Don't throw those in the trash. The sandwich was as good as I remember, maybe better. Good bread, loads of meat, tomatoes, and a honey mustard spread. I got a 6 inch and it seemed longer than that, although maybe my estimation skills are off... It was very tasty. Held together pretty well. I was stuffed. They have lots of salads, that is, pasta salad or potato salad, etc. They are always good, but I didn't have any room with the soup. The place was clean, it was steady at 1 PM but not packed. Plenty of parking in the big mall lot. I really enjoyed it. And as far as sandwich shops go, this is about as good as it gets.

I remember it clearly as I was a newbie to Central Ohio and they sold Cheerwine* in bottles. From there, I've caught them at a handful of small festivals, at Platform, and at Pins Mechanical when they parked there for a while. I've had the por'ketta sandwich, the potato salad, and the pork sundae. I could have reviewed these guys quite a while ago but I guess I was waiting for a certain dish to push me over the 'review this now' ledge. Well, I had that dish this weekend at Platform. (Where these guys are parked on Saturdays.) I had the breakfast sandwich. The bread, same that is used for the other sandwiches, was beautiful. On the sandwich were roasted red peppers, that had been peeled! I really dislike fire roasted things that haven't been peeled (i.e. tomatoes, peppers) so when I saw that the ones on the sandwich were peeled I was stoked! It shouldn't be a secret, I freakin' LOVE mayo and mayo based things (Duke's mayo forever). But, MAN the aioli used on this sandwich was on point. The thyme in it took it over the top! The bacon was great and complimented the other ingredients well. The only thing I wasn't too keen on, at first, were the scrambled eggs on the sandwich. It looked (and smelled) a bit overcooked on one side of the sandwich. However, after a few bites into the sandwich, my dislike of the scrambled eggs changed when I realized that they had crisped the cheese to the bottom side of the eggs. I love crispy, toasted cheese! With the sandwich came a side of griddled potatoes. These guys are likely the same potatoes that get crafted into potato salad. There's a vinegar backing that reminded me of the potato salad. They complimented the sandwich oh so we'll. The gentleman that was working even brought out our dog some chicken! Our dog loved it of course and wants to already know when we can go back for brunch at Platform. Por'ketta serves the breakfasty side of their menu till 2 when they switch to lunch. As a note I had my wife order the sandwich as it comes; these guys would surely honor egg style requests. Next time I get the breakfast sandwich, I will ask for an egg with a soft yoke- as that would have made this sandwich untouchable by any other food truck (and likely restaurant) breakfast sandwich. ----- *Cheerwine is a North Carolina based cherry soda. You can find it a handful of places now- Kenny Road, Savor Pints, any of the City BBQs just to name a few. (p.s. I am not affiliated with Cheerwine, just a Southerner who likes a little taste of home)
