I want to love Cluck Kitchen because of how flavorful and juicy the chicken is here. The inside of this place is generally clean and it's in a nice plaza with plenty of parking. Service is always pretty fast, but if you order chicken wings, it takes an additional 15 minutes. I suppose it's a good thing because it keeps it fresh. My biggest bone to pick is I've been here 3 times now and each time, they've forgotten my additional side of fries. We always need to order an additional side of fries because the wings can't come as a combo. That must be why they keep forgetting them, and I suppose it's also our fault for not checking as soon as we get the order. However, it's happened 3 times now and you'd think it'd be a small mistake. The real unfortunate part is we drive 20 minutes to get to this place and so we find out when we get home that there's no extra fries. This place also doesn't take phone calls?? As we exited the hotel the driver who usually does airport transport asked us where we were going and we had mentioned the convenient cafe across the street. There was not a dry part on the chicken patty. The only thing is I do which there was more slaw in my chicken sandwich, but the slaw tasted great! We got a mild and medium heat level to try. For me, I think mild was pretty good with spice since I love spice, but cannot handle it. Medium was a kick for sure. You must get the fried pickles!! This chicken is super tasty. That's the problem I can eat super spicy food. I've entered hot food eating contests. Typically when you go to these hot chicken places they always make a big deal about the hottest level. There are signs, or they make you sign a waiver, or the order taker makes a big deal and warns you not to. At this place, no signs, no big deal. Just a,single icon with a single sad face with a tear next to the price. The level is called Get Clucked. Even that sounds pretty tame, right? Seriously? It should be called "Broken Glass Rectal Prolapse Death Level" and a picture of 100 murdered kittens. Much more accurate. This guy just took the order with no reaction or even talk. Just said ok, your total is....I've had the highest level of hot at many other places and I always say "not hot enough". I get 6 piece nuggets at their highest level. Ghost pepper and Carolina reaper powder all over it. I eat one nugget and it's super tasty. No immediate heat. I get 1/2 way through the second one and it starts. Now my mouth is on fire and I literally have to have a constant stream of iced tea and ice in my mouth. I'm running back and forth to the iced tea dispenser. I drank so many cups of iced tea that I lost count. That can't be good for you. If I put down the drink, it burned insanely. So It was like an IV through my mouth. I wait about 15 minutes. It's still hot, but it really tastes good. I decide to eat the 3rd nugget. All hell breaks loose and I can now feel it in my ears. I can't eat anymore and then I start getting a bit disoriented. I can feel Pain in my ears. I'm sweating and drooling everywhere. I've never felt burning like this in my mouth. I ask for pieces of bread to help. They give it to me. I stop eating but have to wait 20 minutes to move, get my wits back, get my sense of balance back. and eventually leave the place . It's starting now to creep into my stomach and I can feel the burn starting. I decide to take the 3 remaining nuggets home because they taste good and I think I will eat it tomorrow. Again, it's super tasty. I Go home, go to bed. Lay down. Lay down for an hour or so and my stomach feels better. Get up to talk to my wife and all of a sudden my stomach is burning. All the evil comes back to life but now it's in my stomach. It s Like being cut apart with knives and hot needles. I run to the bathroom, I'm throwing up everywhere. The pain is so intense, I am literally thinking of calling 911. I call my wife . Now the other end is starting. I am burning from the inside out . I get in the shower on all fours in agony and sit there on all fours for 15 minutes letting the cold water run over me. I ask my wife to check my starfish as I am on all fours with a flashlight because it was so violent in the bathroom that I think it's no longer a starfish, but an elephant trunk. I think that if it escalated any bit more I would have gone into shock. But what would they do? How do I explain how I got here. From 3 chicken nuggets???!! Pain starts going away as long as I lay down. I tell my wife to get the F'ing 3 remaining nuggets out of this house because I believe they are literally Satan. She said she she will do it later. I scream "NOWWWW! Get this evil out of this house and maybe you should, bury it. I am writing this review in bed because I am afraid of getting up. Great food, but I wanted to put their Get Clucked level in context for all of you. The evil in it is that it tastes awesome. It's not just hot to be hot, the flavor is great. This is what dating a stripper must be like. Probably very enjoyable at first for some moments, probably even tastes great, but then you are destined to be calling 911 at some point , and the after effects on your body parts will materialize. 5 stars! I usually would get my spice levels at medium but was told that it runs hotter than your average spice (true!!). The cashier handed me a cup for water because he said I would probably need it. I got the cluck classic ($10.95), and had some of the fried pickles ($5.95), waffle fries ($4.95), and mama's mac ($5.95). The fried chicken in the sandwich was cooked nicely - crispy crunchy on the outside, despite being sandwiched between mayo and lettuce, and tender juicy on the inside. It was a pretty good size, too. The buns were soft. The fries were good, very similar to Chik-Fil-A's waffle fries though. The fried pickles were salty for me, and the mac n cheese was okay (a bit rich and needed more seasoning IMHO). Overall, this is a nicer alternative to Chik-Fil-A, considering there isn't one around the area (nearest Chik-Fil-As are in The District, The Market Place, and University Center). The spicy Nashville chicken sandwich was such a standout. It was crispy on the outside and really moist on the inside. Maybe one of the best spicy chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Compared to other places, Cluck Kitchen's normal Hot is probably the Extra Hot at Dave's hot chicken.
