I have been doing business with them for over 20 years. I have an old Sony Vaio all in one (11 yrs old) that had a failing hard drive. I went to Fortress Computer with the unit, and they were able to save my programs and files, and install them on a new 2TB Samsung SSD. WOW what a difference from my old drive (even when it was working well). I had a few issues with the windows system when I first received the computer back, and they gave me free tech support, and straightened everything out. My computer was slowing down plus the storage drives were 8 years old and almost full. I love my older Toshiba Qosmio and rather than replace it and having to start new, I sent it to Fortress Computers. So happy I found this place. It will be my new computer spot. I tried them because they were open on a Saturday. Bonus when you are in a jam. You would be surprised how many of these type of places are closed on Saturday and Sunday. The owner himself greeted me on a Saturday. He is a super nice guy, Marc, he was thorough and took his time explaining the process. They weren't able to fix my laptop with out having to reset it, but I recently backed my data up so . Oh yeah! The prices are reasonable. Parking is plentiful. Unfortunately, I have been to several computer places in the past. They can be run down, depressing and dingy. Sorry to say my opinion of this company has changed very quickly. They custom built a computer for me less than a year ago, which cost nearly $3000. Recently, I have had a recurring problem which I was hoping I could have them address remotely. I think it should have been a simple fix, but the guy who just answered me call told me he couldn't help me without even taking the time to listen to what the issue is. He told me the owner retired, they weren't servicing "residential clients" (whatever that means), and said his "hands were tied" and couldn't help. I spent $3000 with you, and you won't even hear me out? The guy cut me off several times and wouldn't let me finish a thought. Appalling customer service. I did like doing business with the now-retired owner, but I would urge "residential clients" to look elsewhere if they expect service after the sale. read more

I'm pretty familiar with most problems on my computer or others, but when a combination of a bad virus and my girlfriends cat caused my laptop to not bootup without having to reformat I found fortress comp pros. I must say that they solved the issue in about a week and a half ( due to high business volume ), and were very friendly. My only complaint is I asked them to clean underneath all the keys, and when I came to pick it up they hadn't even wiped it down. When I told the guy at the front it had not been done he took it in the back and used an air blowing unit. Not exactly taking the keys off and performing a thorough cleaning, but hey my comp works again. Well worth $125. read more

No this isn't a Best Buy, Fortress Computer Pros will actually fix your computer. I came here a little while ago, needing to figure out what was wrong with my laptop and hopefully get the problem fixed. There were several places I had gone to before for computer problems, but the service at those places were less than satisfactory. Not only was the service fast here, the price was more than reasonable. Other Electronic stores seemed to always take forever to fix anything, then try to sell me something when I finally received back what I had taken in to them. This place was nothing but friendly. It seems also the owner is there the vast majority of the time, making sure everything is done, and properly. This place is a must for any demanding electronic user is Northern County San Diego in need of any sort of repair. They also offer upgrades and customizations for computers too, but have not done any through them yet. Marc took my wife's HP notebook into his shop to reconnect the power switch. This machine is 3 or more years old, so he kept the cost of repair down to be consistent with its cash value, although I would have liked it to be cheaper. Probably, I should have taken the machine to a shop that could have charged more consistently with the needed repair. The repair was completed within 7d, during a busy time for them. I recently stripped a T5 screw on my laptop and could not find a way to remove the screw without doing some major damage to the laptop case. Found this shop near where I lived and decided to give it a try to see if they could do anything. The gentleman came out of the office to ask how they could assist me and I explained the situation. He politely asked if he could take my laptop to show his technician. I had no problem with it and waited a few minutes. He returned with the laptop and said that they removed the screw and replaced it with a regular Phillips screw for me. I asked if they would charge for this service and he said no. Very nice fellow too. This place can easily be my to-go shop for any of my computer troubleshooting issues that I cannot solve myself in the future! Wonderful guys who really helped me out. They got me into my computer after I'd "locked myself out". They also cleaned up all the junk on my laptop to get it going quickly again. They have great personal service and follow up. They track every single thing they do on your computer. Only thing they could do better is reach out while laptop is in shop to let you know if things are being delayed and why, because it took 1 week to do everything that had to be done.
