These guys are doing it right. Exactly what you hope for in a local business. I found DC through a Facebook group when I asked for computer repair rec's. Checked out their website, then gave them a call about cleaning up my Mac before my vacation. I put it off to the last minute and wasn't sure they could help. Luckily, they could help me, and the rush fee was $100. I love that fact they picked up the phone and it wasn't some dead doornail employee who could care less about my computer issue. Chris, the owner, actually answered the phone. He said to bring it down. I came in that same day and he told me they would: clean it up, install new OS, remove junk, and speed it up overall. He quoted me end of the week, but it was ready sooner, so happy about because it would be ready for vacation. Total came out to about $430 with the rush fee. It's been about 6 weeks now and my computer is running amazing, so fast! They also have refurbished Macs for sale, which I'll be back for when my current computer stops working. TLDR: Don't leave your computer there for 30+ days or they'll claim it's theirs without warning Had a less-than-fortunate experience here due to unstated policy, deceit, and lies without remedy. I brought my $2,000 laptop in when it randomly stopped turning on. They diagnosed it, called me and said the motherboard is fried, and it's not worth fixing the laptop. I said ok, that's fine, hard drive is intact and have some stuff I need on it, I'll pick it up when I can. I took a while to pick it up (months). I run a business myself and have a working computer at home so it wasn't priority for me to get it. When I did come in to pick it up, they said they couldn't find it and that they recycle computers after 30 days usually. They gave me no notice that this was a thing, I understand I took a while but I think it's crazy to throw away a laptop of that quality without any notice. I didn't sign anything when I went there, there's nothing online about it, and nothing on their website about that policy. They also said they don't note in their system/tickets when they "recycle" someone's item. They later called and told me they have good news and bad news, they found the hard drive but not the rest of the laptop. I said that's good but it's still unreasonable they "recycled" the rest of the parts in that laptop and that I want some sort of compensation for it. He said "what do you want another broken laptop?" I said "yes, an Alienware m17 r5 with a 240hz monitor without the motherboard will do." In this convo he also said they never resell these computers or the parts, they only recycle them. I was later told by the other owner that they do resell them. Pretty shady to tell me different things. I wouldn't care what they did with them with proper notice. I later emailed them a list of parts in the computer and an average resale price of them and demanded compensation. Magically, the next day, I got a call and they said that they found my laptop! Great, so it took all this to get my laptop back and they did everything they could to keep it to resell the parts. The owner told me they are legally allowed to keep it after 30 days, which would be true with a signed notice or any sort of notice to the customer but that wasn't the case. Today I picked up my laptop and they still had me pay the $89 diagnostic fee after all the headache. So, this review hopefully helps someone else avoid this issue. I'm sure based on their other reviews their service and ability for fixing computers is great, but don't leave your computer there too long or they'll say it's theirs! Edit: in response to Daniel's reply, going "the extra mile" would definitely look like notifying the customer before taking their stuff. And that's not even the extra mile, that's the law. Just know that the "extra mile" at this store is less than compliant with the law. read more

Took my computer in with a pretty specific problem where the system going into restart for no reason. No blue screen. No bios. Nothing. But it happens pretty consistently. They had it for 2-3 weeks with no response, then after I called they had it for another week or so trying replicate the issue. They said they had a fix (said they had to replace my sata drive). I was concerned about dropping $500, but they told me the work was warrantied so I went ahead with it. Got it back and it happened day 1. Took it back in and they had it for another 2-3 weeks, said they couldn't reproduce it. I said that's ok but can I get my money back and I'll just start throwing parts at it. Said they wouldn't give me a refund because it did fix a problem just not the one I took my computer in for. read more

I found the people at DC Computers dishonest, slow, expensive, and rip-off artists. They said repeatedly my computer would be diagnosed within 3 to 4 days (their website says 2 -3), but it ended up taking 5 days. I asked if I could get a discount of any kind because they were late, but the technician refused. If it might take them longer than 4 days they should say that, otherwise they're being dishonest. And it took them a whole week and a day to get the necessary parts for my laptop. We are in the days of Amazon that can have your product on your doorstep in a day or two, and it takes DC Computers a whole week and a day to get my parts? I need to use my regular computer that is in their office ASAP, I can't wait so long. As well, I needed to get ahold of the technician at some point and the person answering the phone said the technician would get back to me right after speaking with someone else, and lo and behold hours had passed and the technician never get back to me - so I had to call him again. And the cost to repair my touchpad that clicked and keys that wouldn't register was about $100 more to replace than ChatGPT said would be fair. They charged me $299, which seems too much for something which seems pretty simple. In any case, I wanted to be better informed about whether the cost was fair so I asked them to tell me how much parts and labor were separately. They refused to break the price down for me like that. To me, that's a fair request. What are they hiding? As if all this was not enough, they did not fix the touchpad of my laptop at all, and I think might have made it worse, but they insisted I pay. It is obvious to anyone it wasn't fixed. To pass it off as fixed is pretty incredible to me. I didn't have the best feeling about DC Computers when I walked in because it was something of a mess, and my feeling turned out to be right. Came here to get my laptop physically cleaned. It only took 20 minutes and the service was quick! They also noticed how slow the laptop was to gear up and aided with that. Kind of them to notice and go out of their way. Everyone here was super fast to help and considering they had numerous customers that was appreciated. Parking: Parking is within a shopping plaza which includes a grocery store. I haven't had issues finding parking whether it's close by or a bit of a distance. the time that I had to park a distance it was a good walk due to the area that it's located in. Service: The service was professional. I have an old laptop and has questions regarding getting a new one. All the questions that I had they were able to answer which I enjoyed. The big takeaway during this interaction was they didn't recommend the latest and greatest like some folks would do. Based off the age of my laptop (MacBook Air 2013) they recommended what year to start at to where it would make a huge difference. Due to the age he said any upgrade I do beyond that would be amazing. felt a little attacked but in a good jokingly way since it's been 10 years since I've upgraded my laptop, he got a good laugh out of that. Ambiance: Ambiance is great. There's two ways that you can walk in from whether it be from the street or inside the plaza. The plaza would be the recommended entrance as to where the service desk is located. there's PC accessories followed by Windows and Mac Laptops. Opportunities: Only thing I can think of (unless I didn't see it) would have the prices of the laptops that are on display. I think they were present though. Overall: Being a 10 year veteran of my MacBook Air I am seeing the...AGE show on it and I'm glad that they understood what I was going through. They recommended ALOT of laptops and whenever I was ready to come and talk to them which I will. I forgot the names of the 2 individuals that helped me but whenever I do, 'll be sure to give them the recognition that they deserve! Deplorable business practices. I purchased a MacBook Pro from these guys and spent over $2300 and also bought some additional items, bringing my total to around $2550. I received a MacBook as a birthday gift so no longer needed the one I purchased from DC Computers. However, after looking at the receipt, I discovered they do NOT accept returns on anything new, sealed or unused, and they charged me nearly $400 restocking fee for the laptop. Ordinarily I would not have a problem with this, but they do NOT tell you about the restocking fee or their refusal to accept brand new items back until AFTER your purchase!!! This is very deceptive and dishonest as these policies should be clearly posted so that you know you will not get any refund for new, unused merchandise and that you will be forced to pay a ridiculous fee for them to essentially put the computer back on their shelves. In addition, the guy who helped me was rude and condescending when I told him I wanted to make a return. I also told him they need to have their return policies posted so that consumers are aware of them prior to making any purchases from them. Had I know they have such a large fee for returns, I never would have purchased from them. Should you choose to use Snap to finance your purchase, don't do it. They do not know how it works and the refund process is horrible. I cannot recommend this merchant after this first and last experience. If you choose to buy anything, ask to see their return policies BEFORE you spend your money or you too will be out a lot of money simply because they are greedy and lazy. read more

An update: I had an issue with my laptop bluescreening every 10 minutes after receiving my laptop again. I wondered if it had anything to do with the repair and took it in. The person at the desk assured me that I would not be charged anything for the diagnostic after explaining my situation. A week later, I got a call stating my laptop needed to be replaced, or that a repair for the issue was $400. This was post- spending $200 for my replacement part that fixed my original issue. When I went to pick up my laptop, the invoice stated that my diagnostic, instead of the $39 was $89 because it is a gaming laptop. Not that it was free. They've worked with me and have been super friendly, but I wasn't sure how to take the charge for the diagnostic. I paid because they've worked diligently with me about my laptop but didn't appreciate being told there would be no charge if they were going to charge me anyway. Long story short, my laptop is still under Dell's warranty, and I ran an advanced diagnostic to see how much they'd need to service. The diagnosis was that nothing was damaged in the laptop (after an update) and I am using it now to write this review. I'm not too sure what's happened there, I don't know enough about laptops to be suspicious of anything. But my laptop has been in and out of the shop since mid-July, almost a month now. I just hope it's all over. read more

I stopped by DC computer earlier today to inquire about replacing/fixing the broken screen on my HP Envy 17. The rep came out and initially said that diagnostics cost $35.99 but there's a 7-10 day wait on diagnostic , but that service could be expedited for $199 for over night service. I told him I use my laptop on a daily basis to run my business and couldn't wait 7-10 days. He then said I can disable the "touch screen feature " on the laptop and he could do that for $199. Again, disable the touch screen feature on my laptop until my screen is repaired for $199. Not only was I insulted the fact he quoted and wanted me to pay $199 to simply disable the screen. I told him I couldn't do it and left the store. I came home , simple Google search "disable touchscreen on hp" a video popped up on youtube. I followed the simple instructions and here we are! Advice google search what ever you think might be wrong with your device before allowing them to do anything for you. It took me less than 5 min. My laptop is working perfectly fine without the touchscreen feature that I never used. $199 lol can you believe that ! This is the second time I've brought what I thought was a devastating tech issue to DC Computers. This time, I drowned My MacBook Air, which then died. After a night of suspension in rice, the keyboard and trackpad were still inoperable, and were preventing me from using an external mouse. I figured the computer was done. Enter DC Computers. They told me they fix this type of problem all the time, and I barely believed them. But it's true. Within a week, My computer was working perfectly, just as it had before the water damage.
