Davyn was great. He helped me out and was very quick and helpful. I really appreciate everything. Thank you!

I contracted Geek Squad to install speakers in my ceiling. I was told this was a routine job. They came to my house on time and were very polite. They walked me through my options and they got to work. They made sure they covered up my furniture and started cutting holes in my ceiling. The physical install of the speakers was fantastic. Clean install. HOWEVER - this is where the nightmare started. They had to unplug all of my devices and take them out. They could not figure out how to 1. Put my system back together again 2 configure my system back to the original state 3. Put the equipment back without damaging my property ( please see the picture with all the scratches) at 6pm they told me they had to leave and would not be coming back. They said their job was only to install speakers and not to make sure they worked. I was shocked and asked to speak to a manager. They left and I never heard back from a manager. A few days later I got a call from one of the installers and said he would come back and fix my system back to its original state. A few days after that he came to my house and after 2-3 hrs he left. The system was still not correct but at this point I had given up. My property had been damaged. My system was still not working just as it had been before they took it apart and I had wasted many hours trying to work with geek squad to make it right. I had to pay another company to fix my receiver and other audio equipment. Very disappointing experience. I'd caution anyone with using GeekSquad. This was such a waste of time, money and effort. Hope this review helps a few people on the fence of whether or not to use this service to install audio, speakers, in ceiling speakers, A/V equipment. read more

I bought a new SSD for pick-up and also scheduled an appointment to have it installed in my laptop's secondary "upgradable" slot following the pick-up. The message did not relay correctly and instead they removed my current one and installed the one I just bought. This would be fine, but it is neither what I asked nor paid for. The agent helping me out ended up upselling me for Best Buy Total (~180) instead of just paying the actual service price (~$140) without even telling me and reached over to the customer keypad to bypass information, leaving me uninformed as to what I was paying for until receiving the email receipt. So, I put the additional SSD back in at home with some micro tools and YouTube + Reddit. Just frustrating overall and makes me avoidant of that location in the future. Hoping for better encounters & now onto canceling that Total membership. read more

Wonderful service. Very professional. I had a connectivity issue. I had no idea how to fix the problem. The tech from Geek Squad walked me through the steps and fixed the problem. I did this on the phone. There was no charge. I give them 5 stars. Alan Deuel read more

I came in Saturday and bought a new laptop. The Geek Squad crew was amazing. I brought in my old laptop, and they downloaded my information from the old one to the one. They were all so patient with me. I really appreciate the synergy of the team. Thank you all so much!!!!! read more

One star sadly due to management not employee who helped me. Went to see if my laptop had a virus, but realized I did not have a membership therefore, I would have to purchase one to run diagnostics. Arturo was so kind and took a couple of minutes to answer some questions and confirm I shouldn't be concerned (saved me $180)... His manager however, came out to tell him to go to lunch, awkwardly stood over his shoulder and waited for him to finish our conversation, and then looked at me with a smug smile and said "sorry, he has to go." Absolutely zero customers there other than me and next appointment on the board wasn't for over an hour. Good customer service is rare so at first I was very pleased for someone to take a few minutes... Terrible management. I respect boundaries for breaks, but the approach was immature and unprofessional. read more

They transferred my call 4 or 5 times before I asked them NOT to transfer me. It took over a half hour of transfers and the person I eventually spoke with was pleasant, but gave me incorrect information. The window you have to give them is 12 HOURS. You cannot get them to make a more specific appointment window. They never apologized for the amazing amount of hassle they caused me. I have no idea if the $100 I had to give them ahead of time was worth it since they called when I couldn't be available and I never met any Geek Squad employee. TERRIBLE customer service. They use a terrible software system that won't give more options. They treat their customers like they aren't worth the Geek Squad/Best Buy's time. Is treating a customer like they can wait 12 hours for someone to show up good business? I'd say no. read more

Negative experience. Do not recommend them. Hired a private tech professional to help set up fax/printer Officejet 8034 and have it working correctly. Much of their customer service and purchasing of products is by calling India. Communicating effectively is an issue and inconvenience. read more

Best Buy listing (801) 821-5688 on the website as the number to schedule a Geek Squad appt. When you call that number you get someone in India? who says to call (888) 237-8289 to schedule an appt. When you question this person, they say its because of COVID that the number is wrong. So I am told to call (888) 237-8289 and get a automated loop that will not schedule an appt. but say the line is busy and wait times are over 9 minutes. I press 3 to wait and wait and wait Then the automated recording refers me to the website (back to square one) where scheduling a Geek squad appt is not an option. Then when you hit submit on the contact webpage it pops up "enter username in alphabets only" it was it "alphabets only". (haha-I'm not crying you're crying) That isn't proper grammar or English...on hold for 14 minutes now. Put a fork in me read more

Rosa, the Manager of this Geek Squad is extremely unprofessional. I had a 3:40 appointment but was told that Rosa was the only one that could help me. When they called her over she threw her head and arms down in disgust and said "well he is going to have to wait for 30 minutes, im busy". After waiting for a while I got upset and asked for the corporate number as I was told there was no one in the store higher than her. As I was on the phone with the corporate number explaining my situation, Rosa started arguing with me about what happened. At one point she even said "Don't talk about me if you don't know me". I can not believe that I was treated with this amount of unprofessionalism. AVOID AT ALL COST read more

My computer's "smart" diagnostics announced the hard drive was failing. I wanted a bigger one and more memory. Since the computer was still under extended warranty with Best Buy we (spouse and I) took it in to the El Cajon store to have the new HD and memory installed so we wouldn't void it by opening it up ourselves. The idea was they would clone the old HD onto the new HD and I would get it back fully up and running. Even offered to leave the system image we had made just prior. They said they didn't need it. Let's just say the "Geek" squad is not. At least when it comes to computers. The old fashioned use of the word may be appropriate here though (not that I am cynical or anything). They were able to successfully install the new memory and hard drive. However, the dweebs installed windows 10 home instead of windows professional. This is a business computer and Windows 10 Pro was on the old HD. They also did not seem to understand the concept of cloning one hard drive to another. We were told by them at pickup that you can't move programs from one drive to another just data. That programs have to be reinstalled. All they had done besides the the hardware was install the wrong version of Windows and move data and desktop shortcuts to nowhere. To that we said "BS" and took it home and did a system restore. Voila! All there, no reinstallation required. This is not even high tech stuff! The only issue is that the system is not recognizing that the 250GB hard drive has been traded out for a 2TB hard drive. This is because the partition sizes were carried over from the original smaller hard drive at system restore. Have software and external hard drive enclosure on the way to fix that. Do yourselves a favor. Don't ever take your computer to the "Geeks" find a real computer repair shop. read more

Asked for assistance with the remote they installed. Made an appointment where they said they would be there between 7am and 1pm. It is called Best Buy but should be called Worst Service In May 2015 we bought an LG refrigerator. We bought a five year protection plan, which expired 5/20/20, even though the refrigerator was not delivered until 5/22/15. In April 2020 the icemaker quit--for the second time. We had already had it repaired in 2018. I called the Geek Squad in April but because of CV-19, they were not accepting appointments for repairs in the home. So I wrote to the Mira Mesa Best Buy where we bought the refrigerator and told them that they needed to extend the warranty in case I was not able to get it fixed before 5/20 because of Best Buy and Geek Squad closing. I got a call from a woman on May 11 and she said the GSq was now accepting in home appointments. I called numerous times between 5/11 and today 6/10 and held on most times for 45 or more minutes. Last week I wrote to BB Mira Mesa again and asked that they either have Geek Squad call me for appointment or I'd get the icemaker fixed and send them the bill. Sara called me and said she had left word for the GSq to call me and if I had not heard from them by 6/9 to call her back. I had not heard from them so today gave it one more try, and I got through to the GSq after 47 minutes on the phone. George the rep said my warranty had expired and he could not help me. I gave him all the above info. He said he would put in for a one month extension and for me to call back in 7 days! When I objected he said there was nothing else he could do and he could not even schedule an appointment for me. So now I wait a week and if I am lucky I will get somebody to answer the phone before that warranty expires. To make it worse, when I call the GSq number I have to go through menu after menu, with voices repeating the same info over and over--it takes 5 minutes just to get to the point where you can wait for the call to be answered. We have bought two other appliances from BB since the refrigerator, but never again. They have lost a good customer. read more

These guys are actually not worth making any comments for, but as customers if we don't look out for each other, we will all be in trouble. I recently purchased a demo laptop at this Best-Buy Store, and I immediately realized there was so much to clean up on the laptop. The salesman said Geek Squad would do a clean-up and I shouldn't worry about it. Well, DON'T TRUST THEM!! if that's what you are told. Geek Squad did a terrible job cleaning the laptop, and Anti-Malware program detected nearly 200 threats a week after the purchase. I showed that from the history log of the program to one of the Geek Squad team members, and he responded it was done one week after the purchase. I was terribly busy with school and my full-time work, therefore I didn't even have time to use the computer long enough to find out what wasn't fixed. Unfortunately I got blamed by a one of their foolish team members (one of those who wears white socks under black pants, I shouldn't even have talked to him), and they accepted no responsibility, and wanted to charge me $199 to restore the system. My advice would be to check the computer multiple times if you decide to make a purchase, and make sure to bring it back next day straight away in case there's something wrong with it. Otherwise, you will be offended, blamed and charged! read more

I have purchased all of my appliances with Best Buy and I always purchase the warranty thru Geek Squad. I bought $1000.00 washer with a 5 year warranty. I have had to have the washer fixed numerous times. Geek Squad decided that my repairs have exceeded the price of the washer and basically turned off my warranty. Eventhough they have been here multiple times to fix the SAME ISSUE and should have just replaced the washer. My warranty covered $999.00 the repairs were $1008.00 so for $9 they wont repair or replace my washer! GEEK SQUAD HAS HORROBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!! read more

I have been using the Geek Squad for 7 years. The last five using the Mission Valley store. Customer service is excellent. Very courteous. Justin is one of the best. He knows our names and remembers our equipment. He helped with our Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 and with upgrades to Windows 10 on three computers. No work has had to be redone. Yesterday I dropped off a new device for upgrading. A kind blue shirted gentle man with initials SSS apologized for the wait (less than five minutes ). Was everything flawless? No! The service order listed the wrong computer! A quick call solved the problem. Folks who have unfavorable experiences : ask yourself if you were clear about what you needed? Were you courteous? If the agent didn't meet your expectations, did you comment at the time? Real time honest feedback -good and bad - is always appropriate and helps every one. And...always make an appointment. No wait! read more

Well, I have to say that my experiencing for the most part was very good. I purchased the Geek Service plan and I had them work on upgrading RAM and storage on 3 desktop and one laptop. Despite a general policy to say they take 5 days turnaround, most were done in about two days expect for the laptop which took them about 4 days. It is ridiculous how much money you save to buy the plan. Ironically that was the computer I need the most. They were ver accommodating and even helped me get my laptop back earlier than my appointment. Yes, they are very busy and you should get an appointment. Hey, they aren't busy because they are crappy at what they do obviously. read more

Twice in two weeks, Geek Squad has been an epic fail in making simple deliveries to my home. At this moment, 250 lbs of furniture that I paid for is sitting in someone else's garage. That was after Geek Squad lost a television that I had paid for on the date of delivery in early November. My furniture was delivered to an address I haven't live at in 12 years. After Geek Squad "customer service" stated that they would have the driver pick up my furniture and deliver it to my home, I never heard from Geek Squad again that day. I called them today and they told me that the mistaken delivery was "your fault" and that it was up to me to retrieve my furniture from the folks who have it. I have been a customer for over 20 years and have bought two homes worth of appliances and electronics from Best Buy. Thousands of dollars. And my "Best Buy Reward" is to be told I am "on my own." This review is about the Geek Squad at Mission Valley Best Buy store. This must be the most horrible experience when it comes to customer service. Initially when I called the office I was told that the part needed for fixing the TV was in stock and somebody will be at my house in 3 days to repair the TV. It has been 3 weeks since that service call. Three separate times some employee shows up at my door not having any clue what they were looking for or not knowing that they needed a part in order to fix a TV. I called the office and asked about the part and they told me I was given the wrong information and the part is not in stock. However, somebody still showed up to fix the TV (of course they could not as they did not have the part). A few days later I got another call from the Geek Squad stating that the part was on back order and it will not be in until a week later. Two days ago I received another phone call from the office telling me that the office has the part on Friday (yesterday) and somebody will show up today to fix the TV. Guess what? The repair person shows up today with nothing in his hand and asks me if I have the part to Fix the TV. I said WHAT? He then proceeds to tell me that he has no idea where the part was and he has to call the office to find out. This entire 3 weeks of repair saga costs $150 for "service call" DOES ANYBODY AT GEEK SQUAD HAVE ANY CLUE ABOUT WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? Worst customer service EVER. Their SECOND delivery attempt is now a failure. They put my appliances in a truck and take them off TWICE, after being unable to discover they have the wrong address, unwilling to change it when they find out they do (when they're on site at the wrong address, just six blocks away). They're phone communication is pathetically bad, not to mention unconcerned with how they inconvenience people. And god forbid you get frustrated on the phone! They'll hang up on you, and/or tell you that they WOULD HAVE accommodated you, but now don't want to. We're not talking about anything crazy here, just saying "This is F-ing insane" when they tell you they can't change the (wrong) address over the phone. read more

Buyer BEWARE!!! Do not use geek squad!!! Especially this one in Mission Valley! This is the second time that I am have used this facility and was hoping this time would be different. I just got sold a piece of junk battery that was manufactured in December 2018. Today is January 10, 2020. This is for my iPhone 6s. Less than two weeks after purchasing the battery that is one year old, it ballooned up on me and popped the front of the phone off. This occurred while I was in Puerto Rico on a medical mission, and needed the phone for dosing prescriptions. I had the battery replaced in Puerto Rico. Person here at geek squad says my phone is now ineligible for any kind of service, repair, or refund of the piece of junk battery that I purchased from them. So I'm out $70 with not so much as a "I'm sorry". But what's more than that, is they basically ruined my phone. Which was working just fine. Now I have to go get another one. I'm out way more than just $70.My previous experience with them was about two years ago when I dropped my computer off to get the E drive cleaned up. Not only did they not assist me with the E Drive, I got the computer back all of my information from the C Dr. in a separate file and my libraries no longer worked. All they did was install anti-virus software. I saw them peddling their antivirus software to multiple people today. It's a complete rip off. In addition to that, even if you have an appointment time, it's like a doctors office. Your wait could be up to an hour before you get seen. read more

I report 3 encounters with the Geek Squad at Best Buy, Mission Valley, SD. (1) I wanted to record about 45 hours of audio only off of some old VHS video cassettes onto audio CDs. I had a VCR and computer. The Geek Squad recommended a $200 software program. Fortunately I did not take their advice. After some investigation of my own, I bought a $15 connecting wire at RadioShack which did the job beautifully. Apparently, they did not have sufficient technical knowledge to correctly advise me in this case. (2) We had a desktop computer, about 8 years old, that we wanted to use for online streaming video. The Geek Squad said all we needed was more memory and a "tune-up." After their modifications, at a cost of over $300, it still did not work. We ended up buying a new computer (for about $300) that worked well. Again, the Geek Squad apparently did not have sufficient knowhow to help me address my problem effectively. (3) I took a laptop, about 6 years old, to them for "tune-up" as part of a maintenance agreement for another device I bought at Best Buy. After the Geek Squad worked on it, they called and informed me that the motherboard was "on its last legs." The computer shuts down repeatedly and is effectively unusable. Perhaps it just so happened that the motherboard gave out at the very time that they worked on it, or perhaps they did something to damage it? I do not know the answer to that. But I took my computer to them for "tune-up" and received it back from them in an unusable state. In addition, every time I went in to them, while I waited, I was obliged to overhear other customers complaining to their technicians about the poor service they felt they had received from the Geek Squad. I sympathize. The Geek Squad? Never never again. read more
