I thought about leaving a bad review, but I figured you meant well. Before truly listening to me, you quoted $150 for just labor for a macbook Air. When I entered, I stated I needed a bootable usb install on a 2017 macbook air, I had a usb, and I already copied off the drive all my data. So, I didnt need data recovery, the laptop turns on to recovery mode, just needed one specified task. No other issues. Unfortunately, the price of $150 is the price of buying a refurbished 2017 macbook air. I even bought one for a friend. Facts. Feel free to check on backmarket. Fortunate for me, I'm technologically inclined, built my first PC 30 yrs ago, and in about an hr, I fixed my laptop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wanted to leave a review for the guys here, as overall I feel they did a good job, and were also pretty communicative, but also had some notes for people thinking of bringing their PC's here and/or things I think they could improve on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had brought my newly built small form factor gaming PC here that had a lemon part somewhere, I had already spent the weekend diagnosing it, and just did not have time or extra parts on hand to continue to do it myself with work and the holidays coming up. Within a day or two counting for the holidays they were able to diagnose the issue, and within a week get it back to me. My notes more are around the quality of the build after it was altogether. For one, I had left the system with them an extra day so I could get them custom cables to use instead, but those were not installed, and I ended up having to spend another 40-50 minutes when I got home to get that squared away. Also I had noted that my CPU was running a little warm on idle, and when I checked the CPU cooler mounting needed tightening, after tightening it ran 4-5 degrees cooler at idle. Lastly while overall things were well cable managed, there were a few cables that ended up running interference with the GPU fan, and I had to reroute that myself as well. Like I said these are small notes, but its what makes the difference between 4 and 5 stars. Price wise I feel their build fee was pretty fair especially when you consider the build fees of other shops or places like Microcenter, and that it basically has the diagnostic fee bundled in (they will charge separate diagnostic fee, if you just do the diagnostic without the fix/rebuild). Overall I would recommend them if you don't have time to troubleshoot and/or fix your own system, just be clear and on top of what exactly you want done. read more

They got back to me as soon as possible the free diagnosis and let me know that there was nothing wrong with it and I didn't need to spend any money! My experience with these guys have been amazing they were very patient and were super understanding when I called back worried something went wrong! I was the second person to walk through the door on Friday morning (9.06 am) and yet when I called at 4:40 pm they had not even begun work on my computer. The next day, at 1:40 PM; I again called and inquired when they would be closing on a Saturday, and Stanly said 2 PM, so I had less than 20 minutes to pick up my computer or wait until Monday morning. I brought my Windows 7 (yes, I am still using Windows 7) computer in because I was having a problem printing PDF files (MSWord files printed without a problem so I knew it was not a printer problem). They said that they would check it out and gave me a 48 hour estimated turnaround time. They called me and said that they had updated my PDF software and my printer software (which they had installed about 3 years ago), and that my computer was ready for pickup. The original estimated charged was $150 for this service and when I picked up the computer the cost was the same as the original estimate of $150. I have used SD Bytes Computer Repair probably three times in the last 6 or 7 years, and they have always been able to fix my computer problem within 48 hours and at the original estimated price. THANK GOD FOR SHANNON! I thought my fairly new 2018 $2k macbook pro was donezo after I spilled a VENTI green iced tea all over it. I went to the Apple store and they were trying to charge me $1500 for the repair!! PFFFTTT. No way Apple. I had requested a few quotes from Yelp for computer repairs for water damage and Shannon responded quickly with a quote. I came in the next day to drop off my laptop and he called back a few hours later with what he saw and what I needed to get replaced. He ordered the replacement part that came in about a week and got it fixed within the day. VOILA! My computer is back to life!! I was beyond excited!! The place looks like a thrift shop or someones "man" cave crossed with a hipster dream. It's like if TGI Fridays had sex with an IT store. Just a bunch of old stuff and tech everywhere. Stopped by to get an estimate. The tech inside was playing video games. He said he would get to the laptop next day (I guess the video game was really important). In fact he would play in between opening and closing the my laptop. I'm guessing that's why he put in wrong screws in such that some were jammed in half way and others were falling out. I had the issue repaired elsewhere with little problems, but at the guy said he would "give it a try". He said " I think I can fix it" Needless to say, I decided to my chances else-where. read more
