5 years old HP laptop keep giving me warning about the battery. Google told me it's best to change the battery with that error code. Went to Best Buy to check out new laptop and asked the Sales lady if she has any idea how much to change battery by the Geek Squad. Obviously she has no clue and told me may be $300. Reached out to Sam and he told me to buy a battery on Amazon or eBay, and they will charge labor to change the battery. My customer built PC ran into its first major issue that I wasn't able to resolve myself in my 4+ years of having it since I built it. It wouldn't boot into Windows, what some call the (BSOD) Blue Screen Of Death. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Spent days troubleshooting shooting, resetting hardware, updating BIOS, entering in advanced command prompts but to no avail. Sam called me within 2 hours. Turned out my SSD that Windows was installed on became full (probably through automatic updates) which caused it not be able to load properly. Sam identified the issue, was able to somehow move my important documents over to my other SSD so I didn't lose anything and fixed the issue, as well as cleaned out my PC of dust for no charge. Brought my custom built PC in for Sam to look at. I had no problems with it until the day it stopped booting up. I had searched from the ends of the earth on reddit and YouTube for a fix but I couldn't seem to figure out what was happening. Sam took a look at it for just half a day, diagnosed the problem, and communicated back to me very fast! Turns out my CPU went bad and he offered to replace it or just do business for the diagnosis. When my brand new surface pro 11 screen cracked I was heartbroken. I took it over to Sam and he looked up the part on eBay and quoted that plus labor and it seemed reasonable. The screen came in a few days later and it was wrong. He looked up the correct screen and it turned out it was unavailable. At the time I was pretty mad but after all was said and done he only charged me a reasonable diagnostic fee even though he worked on it for a long time. I had powered off and unplugged my desktop computer before going out of town, but for some reason I could not get past a white screen when plugging it again and restarting the machine. This shop was open until the mid-afternoon on a Saturday so I dropped off my unit for the owner/technician to diagnose the issue. He said he would send a text message the following Tuesday with a status update. Sure enough when the Tuesday afternoon had arrived, I received a response that indicated the hard drive was still functional (whew!) so all the data was intact. He had checked the video board, wires and other components but could not figure out why the white screen was appearing. My equipment was nearly ten years old so I decided to forego further attempts to figure out the problem. The cost for the technician to disassemble, test the parts, and reassemble the unit was only $20. I appreciated the reasonable price and follow-up in the timeframe that he had promised.
