The ipad had been dropped in water, screen wouldn't come on, and was definitely not wanting to come up in any fashion. They took a look and said they would like to open it while I am there. They may be able to assist without much more to worry about. They took it to the back for a bit. They opened it with me present. He showed me that it was mostly okay. Cleaned what they could see and charged ipad for a bit to check. Low and behold it came up. Yes, there were some streaking but looks fantastic compared to earlier. He would not approach me and speak to me like a human being, rather yell from 3 meters away behind the safety of his desk. I was not served due to not seeing a sign at the front of the store letting potential customers know they would not be served if they didn't comply with a specific "request" the owner had. Without anytime to respond to the owner, or even see the posted "request" (which generally speaking, "request" are kindly encouraged, not rudely demanded), I was yelled at like a dog who just had an accident inside - yes, treated like an animal - for not seeing the sign. BE CAREFUL!!! If you're having a MacBook pro... I rarely write any reviews but the service I got was too ridiculous that I really hope no one goes thru the same thing! I spilled some tiny drops of juice on some keyboard keys last week. The laptop has been working perfectly fine for a week except some keys were sticky. I tried to take out and clean the 'delete' and 'shift' keys but broke the key mechanism and couldn't click them back. These keys all still worked when I typed but just couldn't be clicked back and thus it was hard to type. I took it to the store Wednesday morning (btw their Balboa Ave location has no one there at all! I first drove there and the door was locked and their neighbor next door said they never saw anyone in the room... idk why Google map hasn't updated yet... Balboa Ave location doesn't exist!) I turn it on and off and typed on my laptop to show the guy that my laptop worked perfectly fine! The guy promised giving me a call with some updates and a quote and charged me $50 for having my laptop ready by 4 pm. I waited till almost 5 pm, the guy never called. I called, he said good news he opened my laptop from the backside and didn't see any stains and bad news he might not be ale to fix the keys. I asked why... he couldn't give me an answer and said he needed more time maybe he cold fit it and he would call me maybe in the evening or the next morning around 10 am. The first day passed, he again didn't call back as promised and I still didn't even get a quote. Also what about that extra $50? My laptop was not ready before 4 pm... I started to doubt did I choose the wrong store... and by the time I just wanted my laptop back! I kept waited the whole morning... no phone call... in the afternoon I called again and he said he could recommend me another store to fix it (without telling me why he couldn't fix it) also he was busy and would call me back later... and did he call back? Of course not! I kept calling an hour later, finally the phone got picked up around 2:30 pm and he said he was leaving the store soon! Eventually I got to make it to the store before he left. I tried to turn on and off my laptop and typed only was left in shock that I got shadows on my screen when the laptop was turning off!!! We did it again and recorded it (as shown in the picture)... my heart dropped and I couldn't hold my tears... after going thru all these... nothing got fixed but now my laptop has a new problem! I didn't want to assume if the guy did anything wrong as I wasn't there but the truth is that nothing got fixed and the screen was fine and after being left in this store it is not fine anymore! He claimed that he checked the laptop from the back and didn't see any stains also he "cleaned the keys without taking off the keys" (which I already did and I never agree on being charged for this as he never called back, never gave me any quote...) eventually I was charged $49 (and all the gas price I paid for nothing and the future costs of fixing the screen and my priceless time...). Affordable, but this literally worth 5 meals and I paid for nothing... actually something worse! I went straight to another store and guess what!? They took out new keys and put them back on my keyboard... THREE SECONDS! Problem solved! F*cking three seconds bro! (I don't understand why this Computer Greek dude couldn't solve the problem and even said he might need to take out the whole front part of the laptop and it took too much time. ) Also they cleaned the rest of my sticky keys and cleaned the whole keyboard in 10 mins and only charged $65! In conclusion, I wasted two days, some money, some tears and got my laptop back with another screen problem! And the key problem the dude claimed he couldn't solve or too complicated to solve was solved in three seconds in another store! So again, think twice... no actually think four times before you go if what you have is a MacBook Pro. read more

I spilled soda all over my Macbook Pro and consulted multiple shops to get it fixed. This was the closest one to my work, which i could stop by after. Messaged the owner, Omar H. for the price and if he offered "NO FIX NO PAY" which he gladly answered, "ofcourse how you pay if no fixed... thats our policy." He even added "NO INSPECTION, 99 total." Got to the shop and already felt the attitude he gave after asking multiple questions. Few minutes later he made me sign a form, which was my fault for not reading thoroughly because it indicated that he INFACT charges $49 for an inspection!! Left the shop at 12 and got a call back around 2 saying he couldn't fix it and that he "tried" his best. When we got to the shop he tried turning on the Macbook for the last time but did not work then he SLAMMED it shut and started handing me my Macbook. I took a closer look and it had SCARTCHES all over the top and a chip on the corner! I've always had a case on my Macbook and NEVER let it get any scratches. I tried talking to him but he ended up GRABBING the macbook from my hands FORCEFULLY as I tried to show him the scratches. He grabbed it and walked to the back of his shop saying "pay $49 and you get it back." I tried talking to him multiple times FOR HOURS but he would not cooperate. He even asked other costumers to tell me how "good" he is. Even had the cops show up to talk to him but they couldn't do anything as he did had a form that I signed. Figured out that he will not give up and will just keep insisting us to pay, so I ended it and just gave him the money he's been fighting about. The cops suggested to file a Better Business Bureau because they saw the conversation about the "no fix no pay" which was different from the form he gave out. I understand many people had successful business with this shop, but not me. This man has ANGER PROBLEMS and ISSUES towards his costumers!! I should've read the other reviews given about him, because I experienced the same thing. On my end, it is my fault for not reading the form he made me sign. Either way, the owner does not care about his costumers and will have a verbal fight with you as long as he gets paid. A couple weeks ago my Macbook Pro decided to stop working. Before it finally passed away it notified me that the battery needed to be 'serviced'. So, when it finally did croak, I knew that it had to have been something to do with the battery. Duh. I went to the most highly rated computer repair store on yelp (in el cajon) to ensure that I would get a great quote. I was expecting them to charge me roughly $80 for a new battery/ battery installation fee. However, to my surprise, they told me that it would be $375 because it was a motherboard issue. BUT since I was a student they would only charge me $275. I WAS SUSPICIOUS. VEEERY SUSPICIOUS. wHoO Do ThEy ThiNk TheY R??? Were they really trying to take advantage of a college student?? They are number 1 on yelp, there's no way! Well folks, this tale is true. They almost got me too... Had I not gotten a free inspection from The Computer Geek [911] himself! Omar opened my computer right in front of me and brought my attention to the battery which had been heavily tampered with (forcefully unplugged from the circuitboard). He attached it to the circuitboard, plugged my computer into a nearby charger and presto- my computer was alive again. Turns out my charger was broken! My motherboard and battery are working well. Omar is knowledgeable and very professional. Most of all, Omar is an honest human being who has no intentions on ruining your life. His positivity put me at ease and restored my faith in humanity. I brought my old Macbook Pro that needed a replacement keyboard installed to this place. Omar asked me to turn the computer on to make sure it actually worked (with the exception of the keyboard) before I left it with him, so I did. When he saw that it turned on, screen lit up perfectly and so he agreed to install the keyboard, said it would cost $100 and that it would be ready in about an hour. The first sign of trouble: He told me he'd call me when it was ready, but after almost 2 hours passed, I had to call him to ask what was going on. He says that the keyboard installation was successful, but added "I don't know what's going on with your screen though." I reminded him that he made me turn it on and that the screen WAS working when I dropped it off, so I didn't understand the problem. When I arrived at the shop to pick it up, he brought me my laptop and asked me a question that no repair person should ever really ask a customer; "so what's going on with this thing?" To be fair, it's an older computer (from 2012) and I knew he was probably referring to previous repairs, so I told him that the computer had suffered some water damage back in late 2017 but that someone got it working again and that I had been using it for almost 3 years now with absolutely no problems (until this keyboard issue.) He says "look," turns on the computer, but the screen that was working perfectly no more than 2 hours earlier, was now totally dead. He insisted that the screen wasn't working because water damage can affect a lot of things, but it seemed strange (and highly unlikely) to me that water damage from 2017 would suddenly kill my screen...especially since I'd been using it every day for almost 3 years since the damage happened with no problems. He disagreed and insisted that water damage can affect things in unpredictable ways and that there was nothing more he could do. Hoping that he might have a shred of decency and give me a break on the price, I asked him "how much do I owe you again?" His answer "$100---cash only" Side note: Unless you're at a marijuana dispensary, the words "cash only" are usually a sign that you are not dealing with a reputable establishment. Disappointed, I said "I understand...you charge $100 for the keyboard and you did that part right, I guess. That makes sense." He nodded quietly. I continued, "I guess I'm just a little upset that I'm picking up a computer that I won't even be able to use now...because of...water damage or whatever." His immediate response to this was "well, you can still plug it in to an external monitor and it will work." I asked him "how do you know that for sure? Did you test it?" He said "no, but it should work." My response was "yeah, well...THIS screen (pointing to the dead screen on my laptop) should work like it did when I left this here...if water damage from 3 years ago suddenly messed up the screen, how do you know it didn't also mess up the external monitor signal?" His response was just "it'll work. If it doesn't, you can come back." I paid him the full $100 in cash and sat in my car with my dead-screen-laptop hoping it would miraculously light up, but it was no use....As I held it up and looked for any signs of life from the screen, I noticed something interesting that I had never noticed before: if you hold the laptop a certain way, you can see sunlight shining through the APPLE logo onto the screen. After telling a friend, who also owns an 2012 Macbook about everything that happened, he said "I didn't know about the sunlight thing either. I thought that was just on the newer Macbooks..." And all of a sudden, he seemed to have an epiphany or something. He went and grabbed his old Macbook pro (which still works) and told me to grab mine and follow him outside. He then had me hold up my computer to show him the sunlight shinning through the logo thing, and he said "ok...I definitely see it. Now let's look at mine---same model, same year, right? Look" He then held his Macbook up to the sun, but there was no sunlight shining through at all. He then said "I think he switched your older screen for a non-working newer model." Now, I'll admit, my friend is not a computer expert (otherwise, I would've had him install the keyboard) but if he's right, it would explain how Omar was so certain that plugging in an external monitor would still work without testing it first and why the sunlight shines the screen of my 2012 Macbook, but not my friend's, wouldn't it? So, could I prove that Omar swapped my screen with a non-working one in a court of law? No, I cannot...so I'm not going to make that claim here... but it's a very interesting theory. I had work done there in July. I went back today because my computer won't get on line. The guy there today, who is not the guy who worked on my computer in July, told me I have a computer virus. I asked to talk to the other guy. This guy said there never was another guy, only him. He looked at my computer asked me why I added a virus checker. I said you did it, because you can only say the other guy so many times and have this guy tell you there is no other guy. He said I would never do that! Then he accused me of yelling at him because I insisted he did things he didn't do. I asked how much to clean the virus. He said you yell at me I don't want to work for you. Omar is absolutely no help at all. When I came to pick up my Wish order, Omar pulled out his phone/iPad, couldn't scan my QR Code, and told me to contact Wish Support. In doing so I realized that Wish doesn't have anyone to speak to (just an automated system), so instead of helping me out and exhausting all other options, he completely turns his back and walks away saying 'Sorry I can't help go call Wish.' I personally could care less if the end result would have been canceling the order altogether, but the point is you shouldn't completely walk away after 1 or 2 tries of a crappy scan attempt and claim there is nothing you can do to help. It was incredibly rude to turn your back to someone who is trying to get a clear answer to a problem. Clearly Omar does not care too much for his job especially in these times.
