Came here while I was visiting family in Cincy. It is kind of a hole in the wall, but everyone was raving about it. I shared a meal with my mom. We ordered a small house salad, dumpling soup, tuna nigiri, AAC (asparagus, avocado, cucumber) roll, Crunch Munch, and Hot Lava Rolls. The salad dress was a ginger dressing, which was great! It wasn't too sweet and had a nice punch of ginger flavor. The dumpling soup was also really good and filled with onions and other veggies. The only thing is that it was topped with seaweed (i think?), which I did not enjoy very much. If I were to order again, I'd order without it. The tuna nigiri was nice and fresh. The crunch munch roll was good as well! I had not complaints about it at all. So, in retrospect I think what we were given was not the hot lava roll because what we got did not sound anything like the description. Nonetheless, it tasted good! Found bugs in food multiple times here (we live close and only late night option available.) they close whenever they want when their hours clearly state later open times. The causation manager is incredibly rude each time we're in there. We usually frequent this place twice a week but literally never again. Perfecto is a great manager and that's all I can say about this place. It is my understanding that sushi is not everyone's drunk food of choice. I don't get it. Sushi is one of my top drunk foods. Even if you eat a fried roll, you sort of feel like you did well eating-wise the next day. You may still feel like shit, but that's a story for another time. I'm glad there's a large enough late night sushi following that restaurants like Cloud 9 stay open ridiculously late so I can satisfy my liquor-fueled sashimi cravings. Cloud 9 is located smack dab in the middle of Mt. Lookout Square. Even though I'm a semi-frequent visitor, I for some reason can't place where exactly it is on the square until I see their bright blue awning. The restaurant itself is small and rather awkward to sit in. I've never felt comfortable eating in because you're shoulder-to-shoulder with other patrons at all time. Plus, I typically visit late at night when the rowdy crowd comes out. I just want my sushi so I typically take it to-go. They offer all your typical sushi options and they are one of the many "half-priced" sushi places you'll see around the city. I'm sure their rolls are just as cool and inventive as any other sushi spot, but I stick to the basics. I also get salmon sashimi and an Alaskan roll. Sometimes if I need something fried to soak up any excess alcohol I'll tack on a Sunday morning. Cloud 9 puts my sushi order together quickly so I can be on my way. My order is always correct unlike some other restaurants (I'm looking at you Bento) and the fish is fresh and delicious. Don't think for one minute Cloud 9 is a fancy, intimate place. Its hours and prices indicate directly what it is - a restaurant to get quality sushi fast for cheap. Service was fantastic! Food was fast and perfect to our liking. The drink menu doesn't have too many options, but if you are like me I would recommend the apple martini and the Hawaiian cocktail. I LOVE Cloud 9 sushi! it is my go-to place for affordable, fresh, delicious sushi here in Cincinnati. They always have half price dine in sushi, which makes dining in very affordable. I've had various rolls and have always enjoy their fresh taste and good combinations. They also have a full bar, so it's a great place to get a glass of wine or two with dinner. If your not a sushi lover do not worry. I bring my boyfriend here with me and he always orders the Chicken Teriyaki with rice and vegetables. I have friends who have ordered their fried rice dish. I recommend their pot stickers as a great app! The only annoyance is that if you get sushi/food to go, you do not get half price, you have to pay full price, which of course sucks. Friday's and Saturday's they are open until 4am! TALK ABOUT LATE NIGHT SUSHI CRAVINGS. My only compliant is they aren't open for lunch. Sadly they don't open until 4pm. Yes this biz is half-price sushi but dine-in only. I have been to pretty much all the half-off places in Cincy and this one shines a bit brighter than the rest. Always tasty sushi and I'm more than satisfied when I receive my bill and how inexpensive it is for what I given. Service can be kind of hit or miss but who blames these guys. Most order half-price sushi so I'm sure not all patrons tip well and that can ruin their night but hey don't let it set your tone for the rest of it. I've always been uneasy about going to Cloud 9 - from the outside it doesn't look like the best restaurant. But, I finally decided to give it a try. The inside of the restaurant looks like a dive bar - it's dark and small, but still cozy. They have tables as well as a decent amount of bar seating. They also have two tables out front of the weather is nice. The staff is always super nice - they're always accommodating and helpful, even when they are super busy. The sushi is good - it's very cheap, especially compared to some other sushi spots in town (1/2 off if you dine in). They have an interesting variety of rolls and a lot of them are friend - which I personally love! They're Sunday Morning is the best. However if you're looking for a place to get shashimi I would head somewhere else. They have beer and a give a great wine poor. Plus - it's open until 3:00 am or something like that so you can get your sushi fix any time. My boyfriend and I go here often when we're looking for quick good sushi. We went around 7 on a Saturday and it was packed, therefore the wait was long and cold, but it was worth it! We ordered veggie supreme, south western, rock star, rainbow and California roll. They were all delicious we also order two drinks a blue lagoon and a firedog namaste, the blue lagoon I wouldn't really recommend it. They manage to cram about 15 tables into this area and have wrap around bar seating. If you are 1-2 people, you will be sitting at that bar. The premium table space is reserved for parties of 3 or more. I don't mind sitting at the bar, save the fact that the waitstaff is constantly brushing passed you or reaching over you for sushi orders. It appear either they never made the food ordered 1 hour earlier or they gave the food to the wrong person as there is a takeout order with the same first name but different last name on the table. Instead of come clean and apologize, the waiter continue to stall and said the food is almost ready. I entertained his lies and waited for another 10 min and it is obvious he was not going to be able to fulfill his promise. I requested a refund. The server said he can't do that. He states that only a manager can do refund, trying to avoid a refund. No apologies but try to undermine the situation by stating he only a messenger and does not work on the sushi line. After I insisted on a refund, he reluctantly call for the manager. I waited for another 10 min for the manager to show up. Again No apology or anything. He acted as if he is entitled because the restaurant is very busy and one unhappy customer does not hurt his bottom line. I believe Cloud 9 has got too popular for their own good. They have established a big following due to their low price sushi. Now they take your loyalty for granted because they know you will come back even with bad service. Believe me, I was one of them. However in this covid pandemic, a restaurant should be grateful that they are busy and thriving. I had no idea that I would end up eating Korean brand instant noodle (ShinRamyun) that I always buy at Walmart for less than a buck. They didn't even make it taste nice. The food used to be great. However these past few years, the food there sucks. The portion is getting smaller and smaller, the freshness of the sushi is also going downhill. She order Pad Thai , and we found pieces of chicken in her noodles. Like 3/4 pieces. We confronted the waiter and told him she couldn't eat this , she was really allergic. Then the chef came out , picked through her meal , we found another piece of chicken which he proceeded to eat then tell us it was only egg... she can't have egg either. He was rude and refused to give us a refund or a separate dish. Also there is only about 50 seats in the entire restaurant so when it fills up , it fills up fast. This place is honestly horrible. The smell just walking in makes your stomach turn. Then blasting heat on customers in the summer? It was hotter inside at the table then it was standing outside waiting half an hour since they had no waiting area even though the place took up two buildings. All the drinks are served from cans that had so much condensation on them it was like they took them out of the fridge and left them on the counter or they took them straight out of a colder full of ice like you would camping. We ordered and it took over an hour to get out our food. Then the sushi was warm. Not like they cooked it. More like they made it and let it sit out for awhile or they are just leaving the ingredients out to fester in the heat of the restaurant. The rice on the sushi was warm. I've never went to a sushi place that the sushi it self was sweating just as much as I was. It was very unsettled and definitely not worth the $100 tap.... But that could of been because the sodas and water bottles were a $1.50 each and the 3 of us sat in the heat for over an hour..... Definitely over priced even with the half off gimmick that people fall for. When you make a $10 roll and charge $20 just to give people half off to make it seem like your giving them a deal is one of the oldest tricks in the book and it honestly sad. For two rolls of spicy tuna, two rolls of spicy salmon, one roll of philadelphia cream cheese, an order of Korean Fried Chicken (more like kan poong ki and not like bonchon, fyi), and a glass of hana lychee sake, our bill was maybe a total of 40, including tip. The spicy tuna here is really good. It's actually damn near good as Pacific East in Cleveland, which is arguably the best sushi I ever had. Period. Better than sushi in NYC. The Korean Fried Chicken was okay, but if I just had that, I wouldnt be raving about this place as much. Things to know: service can take a bit, half price sushi 5pm-close every day, they cant make cocktails on Sundays (wtf). Flavorful sushi with great service. No complaints here! I have been coming here since it was Dancing Wasabi. (I have some great stories about late night sushi from this place but that's for another time. ;) Made sure that it was half-price sushi time before going. I got the Legend and Vege rolls with pieces of flying smelt roe and white tuna nigiri (my favorites!). Whenever I get sushi, no matter where I go, I like to get a spicy roll, a veggie roll (for the pickled veggies) and nigiri. I love sushi for the varying textures! I thought the Legend might be spicier but it was still very good. The fish inside was very smooth. The sushi rice was extra vinegary which I liked. Our server was also really friendly. The service was pretty prompt considering how many people were there. When we got there, there was only one table for two inside and an outside table--at about 9pm on a Thursday.
