This might just be the best "college town sushi" in Cincinnati. It's roughly a 10 minute drive from where I go to school making it super convenient. Service is usually pretty quick, but that's contingent on the time. The place can get pretty busy/packed/full on Friday and Saturday nights when the OTR/Banks folks decided sushi is the post-bar move. When that happens and you're looking for a seat?...good luck Charlie. Other than that, come on a weekday, weeknight, etc and you'll be golden. Order: 4x Shrimp Crunch. I was really impressed with this sushi spot. They offer an incredible value with good quality. I got three rolls for $14. The best deals are for carry out only. Service was very quick and the staff was helpful. The restaurant can get a bit crowded and loud during busy times. All in all, Cloud 9 is a great sushi option and I know I'll be coming back. read more

Great little restaurant for some sushi. Come before 7pm for half off drinks! Good sushi for a good price. Our server was awesome! Came by with our drinks right away and made sure we got a couple more orders in before the 7pm happy hour cutoff. Water glasses were always full. Sushi tasted great and was fresh. Not a large reataurant but we got there around 6:40pm and was easily able to get a table with no wait on a Tuesday night. After 7pm the place got filled pretty quick. I would love to come back again next time I am in town. I love how the place is very casual. Very comfortable and cozy. Perfect place to talk as its not to loud. They required every person who ordered carry out to stand out in the heat until they decide to come out and get our names all at once. Every time you order they will say 30 mins yet it takes at least twice as long. It's very frustrating. read more

I used to love this place but it's just getting dumpier and dumpier. The hallway to the restrooms smells of sewage and the floor has a constant layer of dirty water that they have just thrown mats over. I figured it was a leak last time but the issue is still there and it's been months. Seeing the cleanliness that has been adopted I don't trust the safety of the sushi any more I'm sad to say because I have always preferred their sushi to the competition. read more

We did not eat here. We were seated back by the kitchen in a booth with about 2 dozen filth flies on the wall of the booth, most of which didn't fly around when we were seated... across from scraped paint and a series of holes in the wall. I've heard people argue about whether one sushi place in mount lookout is better or another so we seriously thought we could just enter whichever we came too first because we were hungry, but we didn't want to stay to find out. read more

the food is decent, but please take a look at their health code violations. there were SIXTEEN on 10/20/2023 for things like: - cockroaches - no sanitizer in the dishwasher - food not being cooled properly - food not being properly frozen for parasite destruction - cross contamination - "tempura shrimp holding at 58°F at after 3:30 PM that had been cooling since 1 am the night before per food employees" - "A direct connection exists between the sewage system and a drain originating from equipment in which food, portable equipment, or utensils are placed" and a lot more. this place is not clean at all read more

Cloud 9 is pretty good considering everything. It's a sushi place in the Midwest. The sushi here is cheap for a reason. It certainly won't compare to anything high end. This is located in a trendy area, so it's good to find more affordable food. I had a cocktail called the the Ocean Breeze. It's about $9 for a martini glass. This is a tropical tasting drink that could have been stronger. It's specialty is the sushi, and this was much better. The vegetable roll is my favorite. It's about $3, which is amazing. The sushi is always at the half price. It's the special that never ends. The sushi is ordered by filling out a paper listing roll and quantity. It's cheap sushi but it tastes fresh. It's usually crowded in the evening. The parking is awful but it's free on weekends. read more

Worst restaurant experience ever! Worst customer service! We used to come here all the time whenever we are in Ohio. It's a must for our family. But tonight, it changes everything. The server named Allison was rude. We ordered Salmon Sashimi and scallops, uni and yellowtail sashimi plus the rolls. I don't know if she heard me saying Sashimi, then when the other server passed by, I asked him if our server tell them that we want sashimi just to make sure. Then she came by and trying to lecture me that next time, I need to tell her if we want the sashimi or sushi. I said I told her Sashimi. And besides, as a server, it's her job to ask the customer if they want sushi or sashimi's, does it makes sense? Then at the check-out, she puts 20% gratuity!!! I asked her why we have gratuity ready included in our check? She was like because there's 5 person on your party. So I was like, so you counted the baby? She did not even eat anything and you did not even serve her to pay your service. Although, as far as I know, is supposed to be party of six and up to have a 20% gratuity. She was like, because it's the chair, I am counting the chair. SERIOUSLY??? THE CHAIR??? That's RIDICULOUS!!! Shove that $20 on your thingy. I was about to give the same tip anyway, but we just don't like how that Alison girl treated us. And the way she put gratuity on a 2 parents with 3 kids lol , may that $20 bring her long way in life lol it's like a hold up in real life. Can I just start with, we must be on cloud 10! We have been to many sushi restaurants and cloud 9 does it right. We can start by renaming the crazy cali roll to the hot mama, can I have another! Fire scallop got the taste buds going as well. We need them to start serving water in glasses, not bottles but with half price sushi all day every day, can we blame them? Can you really complain about 1/2 off menu pricing during happy hour?? I mean literally everything from all alcohol to all the sushi. Sapporo was $2/$3.5 depending on what size can you got. My basic roll cost $4 and special rolls $8-11. I will say that some of the prices are pretty expensive for sushi so half off makes up for it (some of the rolls would cost $17-20, if wasn't happy hour) Sushi tasted pretty good, may not be the best in town but definitely worth stopping by. Large selection and you can't go wrong. Service was great. I was seated at the bar but that waiter was always attentive and helpful. Parking can be a hassle a bit. Yes, I'm a fan. It's intimate and crowded and that's why it feels like a being in an izakaya in the Japanese Alps. Think cozy, bump-up-against your-neighbors seating. You are probabbbly going to wait. You are probably going to hear your neighbors' conversation. It's part of the fun. The sushi is cheap and pretty good. The salads are huge and yum. It's best feature, perhaps, is how late it stays open. Knowing that, it does draw a younger crowd. read more

Great sushi joint when your late night sushi cravings hit! It's usually pretty busy on the weekends but that's to be expected for a small sushi place that serves amazing sushi. You won't be blown away at the location; parking is limited and only on the street. The restaurant itself is small with only a few tables and very basic, not much decor. If I was just rating the location, it would be a 2 star...it is a neat little spot because of the modern downtown area. However, the sushi is DELICIOUS. Service was quick and attentive. I am always here for value, and Cloud 9 prices can't be beat. It's half price sushi all day everyday dine in only. I went with a group of 4 and we had a short wait but not bad. There was a heater outside which made the wait fly. The waiter brought water to the table immediately and asked us for our drink order. We were able to check out the sushi menu for a minute which was needed, there were so many yummy options. The food took a little time to come out but with the drinks flowing and good company, I hardly noticed. I would recommend the C9 Supreme Roll and the sweet potato roll. Huge downside is that the space is cramped and crowded. I was touching elbows with the girl at the next table over. You get what you pay for though, just know it's a cheap sushi night place and not an intimate date vibe. read more

I literally never write reviews but our server was so rude. me and my friend who are both servers went in around 10. it took 20 mins to even see a server. I understand being busy but there was 1 other table in there. took literally forever to receive drinks or food. our SERVER who i didn't catch his name but he look like jojo mcDodd from the Horton hears a who has a terrible attitude. i understand it's 11pm on a sunday but you signed up to work at a job that closes at 2am. My friend asked if they accepted apple pay and he responded with "yeah but i don't want you to because as you see im busy as HELL and i dont have time for that shit" apple pay takes .2 seconds to tap. again im a server so usually i give grace but wtf that's insane. go get a work from home job if ur gonna be rude when ur asked to do YOUR JOB. read more

One of the first sushi places I ate at in Cincinnati about 5 years ago and I keep returning. It is a small cozy space with seating up near the sushi bar or at some tables. I never knew about this half price sushi trend until Cincinnati but I am a huge fan! You can get some simple rolls for between $3-5, or those special rolls from $6-10. I'm happiest with a roll that has shrimp tempura, crab meat, and eel, and whatever sauce matches (and maybe with some tempura crunch on top). I like the variety of rolls and even at half price the quality is still solid. Service is always quick and efficient. Great easy place to come grab a sushi meal. read more

It's open late if your hungry... and the rolls are huge. we ordered the gyoza, Godzilla roll and royal dragon. Neither roll was great the Godzilla roll had a nice flavor in the spicy sauces but there was no crunch in the tempura shrimp nor a lot of flavor. The lobster on the RD roll was so over done it was like rubber. I generally give a little slack when getting take out but was literally 3 minutes from where we were staying so.. not a place I would return to if your looking for good quality sushi but it's open late and you get a lot of food for the money. read more

I've really only only had their rolls, so I can't say anything about any of their menu items. The rolls are good - fresh quality and wide selection. Service has always been excellent, even when they are slammed. That's one ding I will give them. They are way too popular for that small of a space, so go early if you do go. Otherwise you're waiting, which usually means you standing beside someone's table while they are eating. read more

One of the worst restaurant experiences ever Our Thanksgiving plans had to be altered due to our neighbors testing positive and family being nervous. We ordered cloud 9 after trying some other places and finding out most take out places were closed. After about 30 minutes, we got a notification from door dash that our order was canceled because the restaurant had closed. It would have been nice if someone would have reached out to let us know so we could have saved time and possible found a place to get dinner. By the time we were notified by door dash nothing we called was open. My wife left to drive around to try to find an open place. In the future it would be wise to communicate better with your patrons. read more

I have seen Cloud 9 for a long time and finally got a chance to try it. I came here with my husband and another couple. The staff was nice and the service was pretty quick. However, in my opinion their food is just mediocre. I started off with a side salad. The salad was super simple but good. It was a ginger dressing over mixed greens. My husband started off with the Potstickers. They weren't bad but they weren't as good as some we have had from other locations. I wasn't in a sushi mood so I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice at a level 3 spicy out of 5. It was ok. It wasn't as good as other fried rice dishes I have had. I don't know how to explain it but it just wasn't all that. The spicy level was perfect, not to hot and not to bland. My husband ordered one Volcano Roll and one C9 Roll. He ordered his Volcano Roll without avocado. Both rolls were decent, but once again nothing spectacular. Overall, Cloud 9 wasn't my favorite spot but it was nice to try. read more

I've been told by several people to try Cloud 9 Sushi. Decided to try carry out this past weekend. They not only carry the typical California Roll, Eel Cucumber Roll but quite a few premium rolls as well. Currently it's half off sushi rolls making it the perfect time to try few rolls out. The spicy lobster roll satisfied by spicy sushi roll craving. I'll definitely be back to try some of the non-sushi items on the menu. read more

i frequent on a weekly basis via carryout and sit in. I made a carryout order the person read my order back to me correctly but when I received my order it was wrong. Manager on duty Greg refused to refund or correct my order and had a very nasty attitude when addressing me. I have a shellfish allergy and only wanted chicken and rice yet I was given shrimp and rice. will no longer be a returning customer Because no where in there policy does it say they don't correct orders or refund orders. read more

Ordering online was super easy and the restaurant location was very close to most things in Oakley and Hyde Park! I believe we got the Bengals Roll and Sunday Morning, which I love because it's deep fried. The other roll had smoked salmon on it and I'm very happy with the quality of the sushi. Everything was packaged up nicely for takeout and the food was ready fairly quickly. I will be returning here! read more

I really dig Cloud 9. The servers have all always been really friendly and the vibe is great. It feels like it could be a restaurant/bar anywhere and has a mishmash of lighting, wall coverings, ceiling fixtures etc that gives it that long loved hole in the wall feeling. Good selection of bottle and draft beers for a sushi joint and good sake to try too. It's a tried and true and hasn't disappointed yet kind of place. read more

I'm still trying to figure out who to contact but I went here 12/14 and the food made me sick. My food was not cooked thoroughly and for it to be seafood that's supposed to be cooked this is not a good look at all. Their menu is a little confusing due to the fact that everything is half off. I really could not believe my eyes. I was kind of bracing myself a bit when our food came because I was not sure if sushi could even be good at those prices but I was wrong. I consider myself a bit of a sushi snob, but I knew I could not expect high end sushi at those prices. I ordered a spicy salmon roll, a cucumber avocado roll, and a shrimp tempura roll. I used to come here all the time, dine in or take out, it didn't matter, I liked the food and price. It has gone so down hill so quick and it's honestly sad. Not just for ambiance but cleanliness as well. The sushi counter glass (plastic?) was dingy. The tint film on the front windows was peeling off in the corner. The tables and booths tired and worn. Two of the 3 types of sushi we ordered were OK at best. The spicy tuna sushi was not ok. The teriyaki chicken was a filet of chicken breast (overcooked and dry) sliced with a light drizzle of teriyaki sauce atop. The stir fried vegetables served with it were in my opinion reheated or completely overcooked. The service was fine. Only one waitress for the indoor seating.
