We were seated quickly and our server had a few suggestions on what we might enjoy. Our drinks were cold and he brought them quickly. The menu has something for everyone. Each time that I have visited recently, we have been seated right away. They have a wide variety of sushi rolls on their menu. In general, the rolls have bit more sauce than I prefer, but they are still tasty. One of my favorite rolls from here is called the Red Double. If you like shrimp, definitely give it a try. Cloud 9 lacks here. Our sushi tasted like it was in the refrigerator for awhile. The salmon in one of the tasted very fishy which normally fresh salmon would not have a fishy flavor. What makes it even worse is that the salmon was marinated in Sriracha sauce and you still get that fishy taste. For appetizer we had the gyoza. Looking at some of the other reviews begs the question, what were they expecting? Cloud 9 is one of our go to sushi places. It's a dive for sure, but that doesn't mean the food is bad. Is it the greatest sushi in Cincinnati? No. But it is decent food at a decent price. My experience on 07/23/25 was horrible I have never in my life been treated the way the manager treated me and my guest last night. He was clearly frustrated and overwhelmed and he doesn't know how to handle certain situations nor de-escalate situations. He never apologized for his mistake. He gave the wrong table our food after I repeatedly told him several times that food was for my table. The manager completely ignored me and placed the food on the incorrect table anyway. Then the waitress came over and told him he was at the wrong table. He acted as if he didn't care at all. Then we had to wait another 20 minutes for our food which then was incorrect again and had to be sent back. So at this point food has been sent back twice because of the managers actions. Then the manager had the nerve to have an attitude because the food got sent back to be made over again. He was upset you can tell by his body language and his word choice. But that was not our fault that was his fault. And not once did he apologize. Instead he made a smart remark or comment to the waitress. The manager on duty was very rude and unprofessional. Even though the waitress tried her best to correct the issue. The damage had already been done. The manager spoke with such a mean tone of voice and he used profanity. We still paid for our food but when we expressed the disappointment in our service he immediately got defensive and disrespectful. I have have eaten here plenty of times and have never been treated that way. The manager needs some additional training and he needs to learn how to have more compassion. My sister lost her husband recently and last night was her first time out the house in a while and the manager was not a nice person to deal with. Very obnoxious, he was sweating very bad and yelling for no reason. All we wanted was our food cooked the way it was ordered and we wanted to eat at the same time. My guest had to watch me eat my food and then after waiting for almost another 20 minutes my guest left without eating and we still paid for the bill and tipped the waitress even though the manager was rude. The hostess suggested we come back Friday and speak to the restaurant owner to express our dissatisfaction regarding the manager. This was bad and I'm so hurt and disappointed. I work 3 jobs and I never speak to people the way he spoke to us. That is unacceptable behavior. Came last night at 1:10 or so and stood waiting to be seated while the cashier was gossiping with some girls and ignoring me and my date. Two male servers made eye contact and also ignored me. I stopped one to ask to be seated and he said they stop serving food at 1:20 but I can get carry out. In the same breath he took a sushi order form from 2 girls sitting at the bar So I'm not sure why THEY was able to order and not us. Well, tonight I finally got to experience it with two friends and I can finally say, it was most definitely just a hype and did not meet quality sushi standards. The sushi restaurant right next door was a lot better and served better quality seafood. Don't get me wrong, the sushi looked appetizing, but the taste was unfitting. Such a disappointment because I really was hoping for this to be as great as people claimed it to be. The inside was also really dirty and looked ran down. We ended up ordering: -Sunday Morning- Deep fried salmon, cream cheese topped with eel -Gyoza Potstickers- Pan fried Pork Dumplings -Pad Thai- (you can pick your spice level) Stir fried rice noodles with eggs, red chili oil, bean sprouts, green onions, garnished with crushed peanuts. When we got our meals they were still hot. Wow! The pad Thai had great flavor and a good kick on spice. My deep fried salmon roll was so delicious and the gyoza pot stickers also had a great kick. Visited this location 1-3 times per week UNTIL our most recent visit. Let me say up front that we have always tipped 20%. Every visit, every time. Cloud 9 on the outside doesn't look like much and even on the inside it's a little tight - thought they've done a nice job of social distancing tables for what they can work with. I come for the half off sushi OBVIOUSLY, and I have yet to be disappointed. The rolls are filling, flavorful, and affordable. Sometimes (almost always) I over order, so keep in mind these are generous servings if you don't want leftovers. **The only thing I've ever been disappointed in here was the Pad Thai. Shame on me though - this is a sushi spot. The Pad Thai was not Pad Thai, because I love traditional style Pad Thai and it doesn't look or taste like this. These are more of a messy drunken noodle.
