My roommate and I wanted to try this place for dinner. We went on a Monday night. Parking wasn't an issue, and in fact we felt secure in the area. There wasn't a wait when we arrived. We wanted to try both the Cliff and Cultivate, I'll be going back for the latter. We ordered the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. The flavor was there. I would have preferred the sauce on the side rather than slipped on the plate on and around the shrimp next time. It made the shrimp/coconut coating a little stale and mushy. It was a texture thing for me but the flavor was FANTASTIC. Execution is what I'm criticizing here. Next we ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. We split the portion between two people. Portion wise it was excellent. We were both stuffed. Again, flavor was there but the lobster was overcooked. I'm going to sound like a snob, but being from California when I order lobster and I'm paying for lobster? I'd like it not rubbery or crispy when it doesn't need to be. We also ordered the pineapple coconut mojito. It was DELICIOUS. Sad to say my cocktail was the highlight. The ambiance, the service, was excellent. We sat at the bar area and our server gave us EXCELLENT service. My main complaints have to do with the food and the execution of very minor culinary mistakes that make a big deal. When you go to an establishment like Cliff you're expecting to pay a little more. It's worth the cost. Aside from my criticisms I'll be returning and I look forward to trying new dishes and even the new restaurant. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Waiters name was Scott. He must be going through some stuff or was having an off night. Took us 30 minutes to finally place an order. Myself and another person at our table ordered the prime rib. Came back completely rare. We ordered it medium. We once again had to wait forever and finally my wife asked someone else to get out check, they must know something was going on with our waiter Scott because she automatically comp'd us an appetizer without us saying anything. It ruined the whole night for us please save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Southern chicken sandwich was perfect! The curry chicken had great flavor, best appetizer was the coconut shrimp. Really enjoyed the French onion soup! One of my favorite places to try new alcoholic drinks. Always have great service and don't always need reservation. read more

The food wasn't very good. I ordered the chicken and biscuits, and they brought out chicken and a piece of toast with gravy on it. I asked our server if they had run out of biscuits, but apparently the Cliff Dining Pub qualifies plain white bread toast as a biscuit The restaurant was also pretty dirty in general, and had building repair issues like paint chipping off the wall. read more

I loved this place... the first time. Service has gone down. Long waits and the food just isn't near as good as its sister restaurant (Cultivate) next door. If you want a divine experience, head next door and feast on one of their amazing appetizers. Great variety of food, love the patio, and generally friendly staff! Food was good portions and of pretty good! The only moment of annoyance was the reservation process. I called almost 2 hours in advance but was told that reservations are only taken more than 2 hours in advance and we should just show up. When we got there, despite many tables being open, we were told to wait about 20 min. Maybe they had those tables reserved... it wasn't clear, but I feel like this could have been more efficient. read more

This was our first time here, and we will be back! Can't wait for a little nicer weather so we can dine on the patio, it's beautiful out there!! Food was great as well. We have a couple sushi rolls, the Finisher and the Addie. Both were good, but we preferred the Addie, or was fun and different. I got the Miso Halibut and my husband got the Almond Mole Chicken. Would repeat both, but we both really liked the Halibut the best. Desserts looked amazing, but had no room. It's incredibly difficult to understand how you can consciously charge $13 plus tax for a kid's breakfast that includes only 2 eggs and either 1 piece of bacon or 1 piece of sausage? We LOVE this restaurant and visit a couple times per month on the bar side. It's more lively and we like the vibe better. Everything is very good that we have had. Especially the prime rib, miso halibut, and the salmon. Usually we have really good service but this past Tuesday night our server was slacking badly. We waited over 15 minutes to get a drink order in. We were ignored as our server rushed around for bigger tables. To get drinks, water, appetizer, and finally our dinner was over 2 hours! We didn't appreciate it but I think it must have been that guy in particular. I hope not to get him again for our future visits. read more

We dined at the Cliff several times a month. We always sit at the bar and go in between 4 and 5. The past 4 times we have been there the service has been bad. My husband is a amazing tipper as our kids work in the food industry. The bar tenders know we tip crazy. My husbands wine glass was empty our food came out cold. The plate was very hot because it must have sat in the window for a half hour. The bar staff hung out at the other side of the bar having a nice chat. The restaurant and bar were not busy. We have several restaurants that we go to and get exceptional service. We are done with the Cliff. read more

I've been here several times. Date night, double dates, birthday dinners, and just for fun. I usually get the sushi and it's pretty good. My go-to drink there is a Moscow mule (usually my go-to in general) and a good mule is important. Some places don't make them how they need to be made. The staff overall has been friendly and the place is nice. Would recommend trying it and more than once, especially if it's local. Sometimes you just need to go somewhere more than once before reviewing it unless it was terrible or unless it was so great you can't wait to review it. Sometimes you just need to go on a different day, get a different meal, be in a better mood etc. I haven't liked everything I've had there but I don't expect to like everything on the menu. read more

The food was delightful. We had the chili soup because it was so chilly out. I had the beef stroganoff with, and it was wonderful was fabulous as I drank a glass of wine looking over the town from the cliff we sat in the pub area. I don't know why I keep going back here! Maybe it's because the building is beautiful and Ikeep thinking, it wasn't that bad last time right? Well I went again today. Nope. It's just not good! It's expensive too! My friend got this brunch item of fried chicken with gravy on FOUR chive biscuits. Turns out the biscuits must be British because they were basically crackers. Not biscuits like you think. Who wants fried eggs with chicken on a cracker! I went for soup and salad as I couldn't decide and wanted to try their soup. The salad was marginal-nothing special and the soup didn't taste fresh made. Probably pre-bought from a restaurant supplier. Anyway, so salty I couldn't eat. We are from out of state and were looking for a nice dinner on a Sunday. The options were limited!! But we went with Cliff. SO GLAD WE DID. Our welcome from the short skirted hostess was less than pleasant.. however when our waitress Alli greeted us, she set such a happier welcoming tone. We started off with the avocadOH and it was perfection. Also we got the chicken florentine soup which was SO good. Highly recommend both starters. Dinner we got prime rib and beef stroganoff. Both were super delicious, our plates were completely empty when we were done. Dessert we got the vanilla bean cake and lava cake. Both were served warm with vanilla bean ice cream. Such a great end to a wonderful meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was great with awesome views and a cool fireplace going outside. We had my 2 year old with us too, and it was family friendly. Btw, her Mac and cheese she got off the kids menu was the best Mac and cheese I've ever tasted. It was made from scratch! Definitely a great spot to check out for a delicious dinner! read more

Great choice of wines, and the Sapporo was so crisp definitely paired well with dinner. Dessert is a must the cheese cake drizzled with a strawberry compote yummy! Let's not forget about the amazing views of the Bingham Canyon mine and the Valley. If you're thinking about The Cliff then good cause it's a must stop! Social distance was practiced. I am very disappointed in the customer service & attitude of this company's management, which affects the restaurant's performance and many of the bad reviews you see consistently here. We brought large groups here twice and were told we didn't spend enough money, and we needed to pay exorbitant extortive-like overcharges or our business wasn't welcome. They really dont seem to care about customer service or future business by their communications, which were basically implied - we dont care - dont come here anymore. It's one of the worst abhorrent customer service failures I've seen in recent memory, in my opinion. The service was incredibly slow, and we waited over an hour for food both times, which at its best is average bar food. The staff seems short-handed, overworked, and poorly trained, and worse, the management tells people who complains to blow off. Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware. read more

. First let me say it was Friday night and I think maybe prom night. Waiting for a table was brutal--rude, loud people waiting for tables. The acoustics in here are super bad. We were seated in what I think was the main dining area and it was impossible to have a conversation due to all the noise. Then before our food came they came and opened a partition between the bar area and the dining area for even more loud voices. We are not talking normal restaurant sound levels here. Ok it's loud. How was the food? The atmosphere? What atmosphere? Outside of the gorgeous view (it was raining so outside seating wasn't an option) it's basic. Nothing fancy nothing special. Well then, how about the food. To be honest, I was so irritated from all of the loud noise and the rude large group I just wanted to eat and get out of there. I had the Asian salad which was fine. Nothing to write home about. The others in my party had the wedge salad (they enjoyed), a few sushi rolls, and a burger. No complaints but no rave reviews either. The menu is large and has a good array of options, so there should be something here for anyone if you have a large party with disparate tastes. read more

I absolutely love visiting Cliff Dining Pub! I've celebrated many happy occasions here and the food is awesome. You know how some bartenders claim that they're make you anything you want? Well, one time, my best friend and I ordered at the bar - a scoop of icecream with root beer in a glass. Our bartender was more than happy to oblige. Needless to say, we had a very happy evening. If you like sushi, the nigiri is a must try! Renee (head chef) is just incredible. My favorite nigiri roll was a seared salmon with a little Cajun spice to it (mouth watering). It was not on the menu, but if you ask the sushi chefs very nicely, they might make something special for you. ;) The quality of the fish and creativity of the rolls are excellent, you won't be disappointed. Appetizer Disclaimer: sushi nachos are so good but they're only supposed to serve it when Renee is available to make it (it's his signature appetizer dish). Entries that I really enjoy include the firebird chicken and blackened salmon. Ahh the fire outside is super cozy in the evening. The place is beautiful and elegant. good wine list and cocktail list. you would think you could get prime rib at least. They actually advertise their French dip as being made with prime rib. So why don't they offer prime rib? More pub type foods, such as fish and chips, burgers, a variety of pastas. They do have a filet Minion. Will go for tat next time. We will certainly be back! the service was awesome and the food was good it just seems like a place as beautiful and elegant as that would offer a higher quality of food choices. read more

Second time here and second mixed review. The location/views are great but only if you are sitting in the right place. We weren't - it was too windy for the patio and we ended up in a dark booth. The service started out strong but our waiter was busy to begin with and then had an issue with a large party or something and was MIA after our dinners were delivered. Don't blame our waiter. Stuff happens and he was pretty attentive when he was around. Our issue was that we couldn't get anyone else's attention to help out or at least tell him we needed him. There doesn't seem to be any teamwork here, except for delivering each other's food (but w/o asking if we needed anything else or giving us a chance to say). So far, there are a few items on the menu that I would return for: coconut shrimp, miso halibut, and the dish with short ribs (can't remember name). However, my husband & I both agree that next time we will just go to the bar for guaranteed views and proximity to service. read more

We have eaten here several times. We like the ambiance and that it is close to our home. Lately, the food has been lackluster. We usually get the sushi nachos, and there were hardly any toppings or sushi on top. The lava cake had very little chocolate in it and it was dry. The halibut was bland. I am disappointed that their food quality has declined. Also, we have had the same waiter twice. He was gone for long periods of time, taking a long time to take our order, forgetting food and drink items that we ordered, and generally did not seem to care if we were having a good dining experience. We will be taking a break from The Cliffs. read more

Whitney was our server. She was great.. attentive, made great suggestions and didn't make us feel rushed at all, even though we arrived 30 minutes before closing. Our food was fresh, hot and came quickly. The wings are incredible and have become a quick favorite. The brussel sprout appetizer was very tasty as well. We tried both soups, the corn chowder and the chicken tortilla. The highlight of the evening was in the desserts. The butter cake is phenomenal. It's sugar crust on a warm, simple cake with scratch whipped cream, strawberries and vanilla ice cream make for a dream in your mouth. The tiramisu was delightful too. We ate here on a Friday night 6:45 reservation. The atmosphere was great! Amazing views!! Service was great.......except.......on a party of 7 they add in automatic gratuity of 22%! I'm a big tipper but to automatically add in that much?!? One member of our party did not get her food until we were 1/2 way done with our meal. Clearly the server forgot to put in her order. But there was no apology, no comp of the forgotten dish, or a free dessert, nothing. I would go back JUST for the TOMATO BiSQUE though! It was THE BEST tomato soup I have ever had! I'm going to dream about that soup. The kids Mac n cheese was delicious (I stole a bite) but all the pasta needed to be a little more al dente. Don't order the lemon pasta, it has a funky bitter taste. Someone ordered the chicken sandwich and everyone was having entree envy. The consensus was "best chicken sandwich ever". The adult Mac-n-cheese was delicious too (except for the lack of al dente pasta). It had a smoky, bacon, cheesy, green onion taste explosion with steak on top. It's time to enjoy patio dining and the best place to do this is Cliff Dining Pub. The food, service, view, and craft drinks are all excellent. The brunch menu is on Saturdays and Sundays is varied and I have not ordered anything that I did not love. Be sure to add a Bloody Mary or Mimosa to make the meal complete. I have been hoping to try this Draper spot for awhile and a recent brunch date with the ladies provided the perfect opportunity! We made a reservation (I love that they take brunch reservations!) for 11am and our table was all ready when we arrived. The brunch menu has a nice mix of breakfast and lunch options. One area the pub seems to shine on is POTATOES. In our party of five, we got no less than three different styles of potatoes and all were excellent! Potatoes aside, the main dishes were all...good. Nothing spectacular. My burger sounded pretty special on the menu and it was loaded with awesome ingredients--beautiful pickles, a fried egg, bacon and more--and yet after the first bite I was looking for additional sauces because it just didn't taste as good as it should have. The service was excellent--thus four stars instead of three--and we all loved the general vibe of this place. Despite my food not tasting as awesome as I'd hoped, I would still come back here again.
