Went here for the first time a few weeks ago. Been living in San Ramon for a long time. This review is based around my experience on a Friday night and at the bar side of the building. What a really cool little spot they have there. Walked in at 6:30 and the place was packed already. Didn't realize they have bands here and the band was really cool and sounded great. I believe it was the Evan Thomas Band. Don't really listen to Blues or any type of Jazz music. I think I need to start after that night. the staff in the bar were great and I was happy to see a local beer at the bar as well. The only food I had was the cajuan fries and those were really good. We are sorry to have to give a poor review to a place we otherwise enjoy. We also understand being under staffed. With all that said, we still cannot give a higher star rating. We called ahead and said we we coming. No one said we needed to be added to the wait list. We arrive and a group gets seated who walked in right before us. We wait. And wait. Get told someone will be rightvwith us. We wait. And wait. Phone orders come in. We wait. Finally the hostess asks us where we'd prefer to sit. We express our preference and then she tell us they need we need us to wait because tbe kitchen is backed up. What??? You take phone orders but won't sit in house guests. Then a group comes in behind us, with reservations. So even though the kitchen is backed up, this group was seated. We went back to,our vehicle. Came back and were completely ignored by hostesses We asked to speak to a manager. No manager on site. We're glad to know we have this Cajun/Creole place nearby. Was looking for something nearby that is open relatively late for takeout, that's not American fast food. Came upon this place through Yelp. I stopped looking at the rest of the menu after I saw the Cajun Trio. I was sold on trying the trio or the full entree of etouffee. We had a really good etouffee in New Orleans so wanted to try this one out to see if we have something closer to home. We ended up getting two crawfish etouffees, one for each of us. May not be as good as the one we had in New Orleans, but pretty good and satisfies our taste buds for something closer to home. Moderately spicy for those with low spiciness tolerance. What is great about the Crawfish etouffee was that you basically get the Crawfish meat in every bite. For those doing takeout, this liquidy dish did come in a cardboard takeout container, so hopefully you don't have to go very far or go over too many bumps. One of our boxes had a bit of painters tape over a fold where the glue had failed. Still made it home without dripping any contents, but transferred it all to a regular bowl once we got home to eat out of. Can't wait to go back to try the other stuff on the menu. read more

The service was good at this restaurant but, we did come in on a rainy Saturday night to eat and their were no crowds. We wanted to hear the band which does not perform on Sundays. We had the appetizer platter with fried okra, fried green tomatoes, and chicken wings with three sauces which were good. I ordered the Catfish and hush puppies. It came with a tiny side of cole slaw which I wish was a larger portion. The catfish was breaded perfectly so it seems to be frozen. Even so, good large portions, and would recommend it. My friend had a Steak with vegetables and liked it. I tasted the carrot and they seemed undercooked. Now for the Entertainment! We came to Clementines to hear a Cajun band and were so disappointed! They had three very young men in the bar playing a trumpet, organ, and bass guitar. The song was so slow and melancholy we left. To Management; hire a real cajun band that has a fiddle, accordion and drums. We came to have fun and dance and you had a band putting us asleep at 7:30 pm at night. read more

Boyfriend took me here for brunch while in the area. It was to die for! I had Smoking Joe's skillet with potatoes and pancakes while my boyfriend had Bayou omelette with fruit and half waffle. Updating my review on Clementines. Our second time here, and we decided to come back because they do advertise they have music on Friday nights. But again, there was no music. However, we always enjoy the food. This time we decided to order the catfish basket and the special, the Cajun trio. We ordered the same appetizer as before the crawfish tails, because that's just the perfect one. I was very pleased with the food. The Cajun Trio was mighty delicious but the jambalaya was a little on the dry side, other than that it was good. The catfish basket was super good, very delicious and it was made to perfection. Our drinks are always on point, super, super, super good. I have to give kudos to the bartender he/she knows how to make GOOD drinks. This is one of the reasons why customers keep returning to Clementines, because of the good service and good food. The staff is great. Came here and had the Ribeye. I honestly expected a cut of meat along the lines of Sizzler's or something but it was above my expectations. Cut wasn't fatty or grisly at all and had really nice texture and flavor. It was really well grilled and had the right amount of carcinogens which pisses off my surgeon general but that's the stuff I love on my cow. For appetizers, we had the fried oysters which was also pretty good with the dill weed sauce and coleslaw. Why only 3 stars? Well the gf got the Louisiana Ribs and that was a major disappointment. First of all there was no smokiness to the ribs at all and the meat was not tender either. What's worse was that after we cut one rib away from the end, all the other pieces were actually cold. Not cold as in not hot but COLD as in straight outta the Tundra. It's apparent that they cook the ribs earlier and keep it fresh in the fridge until someone orders it but in this case it didn't spend enough time warming up. BBQ sauce is then just drizzled on top. Waiter was nice enough to take it off our bill since we honestly only ate the one end rib. So while the ribeye was above expectations, the ribs were way below which balanced out this place to 3 stars. read more

I have known about this place for a while and finally got to do outdoor dining in November before the stay-at-home order. Was a perfect day, and we were able to dine away from everyone else. For a place that prides itself on Southern food the fried chicken was terrible! The chicken was dry and greasy. When we told them about it thay came back with more pieces cooked the same way. I believe these were leftovers thrown back into the fryer. How do you fry fresh chicken in 2 min and have it come out dry and greasy? Returning to Clementine's this time around was a total different experience. You would think dining at the bar would be no different, but it definitely was on a Thursday evening after work. On my previous review I've noted that the food here is bland. However, on this particular visit that wasn't the case. The gumbo tasted much better than I last remembered it. They've definitely improved it no doubt. It was much bolder in taste. It could possibly be a good batch that day, but what really matters is that I enjoyed it on that particular night! Do not pass on ordering the hot chicken wings! It was so tasty that I've ordered two rounds of it. The complementary corn bread was also great. It was fresh as if they just took it out of the oven. The bar tender that night done an amazing job. There were a handful of customers and he demonstrated the art of multitasking quite elegantly. He was able to take orders, pour drinks, and keep customer's happy on their hour. The tender deserves some recognition and I'm hoping management reads my review and give the guy more than a pat on the back. I was staying nearby and decided to get take out from Clementine's for dinner. I called in my order and it was ready in 20 mins as expected. Service was friendly and I was actually really impressed with how my take out order was packaged. I ordered the fried oyster po' boy and a baked potato with everything to go with it. Rather than having the baked potato already dressed, the sour cream, chives, butter, bacon, and cheese were all individually packaged so that I could prepare it when I got back to my hotel. I really appreciated that! I didn't even expect bacon to come with it...score! I also was pleasantly surprised when I also got cornbread with butter to go. The food was amazing. The cornbread was so good; nice and moist and not that crumbly. It tasted great the next day too! I love baked potatoes (my comfort food) with everything on them, so it really hit the spot for me. The fried oyster po' boy was really good as well and came with slaw and a pickle. I had so much food though, that I could only eat half the po' boy. It still tasted great the next day as well. We ordered the food to-go and it was packaged so neatly with generous portions, loads of napkins, plastic cutlery, and plenty of condiments. Pleasant interactions with the staff. The woman carried our bags out for us and suggested a couple parks with shade that would be perfect for picnicking. The food was really good and completely satisfied my craving. Wish I knew the names of the servers/cooks who took/expedited our order because they definitely deserve some kudos. Happened to be on this side of town and was in the mood for some yummy Southern comfort food and based on the pics and great reviews we decided to give this place a try. With the SIP going on we ordered for Take-Out and the gentleman who helped over the phone was very helpful and patient. We ordered bbq shrimp, Cajun trio which included jambalaya, gumbo, and ettoufe. We also ordered shrimp capellini and beignets as well. Out of all the dishes the one that stood out the most was the bbq shrimp. The buttery sauce it was in was fantastic I couldn't stop dipping the side of bread in it. But 2 things I was pretty disappointed with was the beignets and the ettoufe. I do give this restaurant an extra star for the decent prices tho. We have a restaurant with similar items closer to home but with steeper prices so it was nice to see how reasonable they were. You don't just get great service from one waiter you get a team of waiters. They are all friendly and vivacious and willing to get whatever you need immediately. The food was terrific, we had the breakfast burrito and champagne. An accident happened nearby while we were enjoying our meal and immediately one of the managers went out with ice water for all the helpers and firefighters and victims. What a sweetie as the temperature was breaking 100. Of course we had to eat outside but it was completely covered from the sun and not too bad at all. The food is VERY rich, but I think that's the southern way of cooking. The first time here I got the biscuits and gravy.. I probably could've demolished both biscuits but I was feeling really guilty after eating the first one. I also asked for some extra gravy. The biscuit is really dry, but paired with the bacon-y gravy... PERFECT! mmm Second time here I got the Jambalaya. It was one of the more pricier options. There was plenty of sausage and not so much chicken in it. It was flavorful.. but adding one of the hot sauces from our table made it better. I forget which bottle it was.. but not the Louisiana hot sauce (the buffalo one) It was one that had a warning about being extremely spicy... It was called palo alto's firemen hot sauce or something similar to that... I think between the 3 of us we almost finished the entire thing. Their hashbrown is actually really good. At most breakfast places i'll eat a bite or two and be done with it because it's mushy. This is perfectly crispy and very addicting to eat. My coworkers love the house potatoes. I can do with or without the food. Maybe the next time I come back I'll give the gumbo a try. We keep coming back because my coworkers are IN LOVE with the omelets. I've never tried fried green tomatoes before and thought I'd stop by before going to Regal Hacienda Crossings Theater to watch a movie. To the right is the bar area, which was pretty active for a Monday night. I chose to sit in the quiet dining area. Morgan was my server that night, and there were only 3 other couples at the far end of the room...as far from the bar noise as possible. I ordered the 1/2 order sampler platter, which came with 4 green tomato slices, 6 fried chicken wings (5 drumettes and one flat), and some fried okra, and 6 beer-battered shrimp . It's served with remoulade, bbq, and seafood cocktail sauces. It costs $18 for the half-platter size even though online it says it costs $13, take-out or not. The full-size sampler costs $30. The meal comes with cornbread with butter which was cut into 4 pieces Next time I'll try a po'boy next. I wish they served muffaletta sandwiches. read more

Despite all of the 1-3 star reviews from other Yelpers about the service, I decided to tough it out and try this place for the first time. We were seated immediately and our server came to introduce herself and offer to get our drinks. Minutes later we ordered our appetizers. Our appetizer of choice was the sample platter and made my tastebuds very happy. Drinks were always refilled before the ice touched the bottom of our cups. I ordered the Secret Garden Omelet which was delicious! Our server checked up on us to see if we were satisfied with our choices and we were. My omelet was great. It had zucchini, tomatoes mixed in my scrambled omelet, with melted cheddar cheese over it, topped with sliced avocado pieces. I was impressed to say the least. My boyfriend had the Smokin' Joe's Skillet, which he didn't finish all in one sitting, which is a first. We got a box to take our leftovers home and enjoy for dinner later on. Clementine's has large, delicious platters for really decent prices. I don't know why other Yelpers had a bad experience, but I did not come across any type of bad service. Great for breakfast...best coffee that I've had in a while. We had eggs, bacon, oatmeal and the kid' waffle. Everything great.

Service 5 stars and food met expectations. I had the catfish poyboy with a side salad. The salad was very generous! The sandwich lacked a little seasoning and would probably be improved by a nicer bread and providing extra sauce on the side (it ate a little dry, if I'm being overly picky).
