French Onion Soup (Bowl)

Great food, awesome service. My BF and I stumbled across this restaurant as we were getting gas. It was delicious!

Mint Julep

Highlight was the Sausage and Shrimp. The rest of the food was pretty bland and unseasoned. The Mint Julep was very watery, kept on getting mint pieces on the sips. The service was okay

Great service. Diner vibe but also serves alcohol. Spicy Margarita on point. We ordered whole bunch of food, and they were all decent. 10/10 would recommend.

Cajun Burger with Cottage Red Potatoes

Meet some long time friends in San Ramon and they brought us to Clementine's for lunch. No wait for five when we walked in and it wasn't very crowded inside. Nice that we were able to sit for almost two hours to eat and just catch up with friends. Did not realize we were giong to a cajan soul food restaurant. Pretty big menu with lots of choices on the menu. I decided to have the Cajun Burger medium rare with cottage red potatoes as the side. My burger was like any other burger, nothing special but good. The cottage fries were very crispy; maybe a tad too crispy! Service was very good and we were able to sit for a very long time chatting and we never felt that they rushed us to leave. The inside of the restaurant reminded me of chain restaurants that families with children eat at. Food and service were decent.

The mudpie was heavenly

"Always a pleasure!" It's been a few years since I've been here, but the service and the food is just as good as always. After a hard workout at the gym, I came here for liquid refreshment. The friendly server was glad to help me and she made a few suggestions. Naturally I had to get a racer 5 on tap. Note that they have all kinds of deals on liquid refreshment in the bar. Next time I'm getting that French onion soup. Thanks for maintaining the welcoming, professional atmosphere.

Gumbo is pretty good

Gumbo is pretty good Chicken and Tater is heck dry it's look like a reheat fried chicken Fried Catfish has a muddy taste and you can tell is not fresh I asked for gravy and they gave me a tiny containers for just dipping my chicken and they're charging me $2.99 Overall I don't recommend this place It's probably good for bar hopping but not dining in

Fried Green Tomatoes

My coworker and I decided to try Clementines on a whim because it's close to our office and wow! I was pleasantly surprised! Upon arrival, the front hostess welcomed us in with open arms and was extremely friendly and nice to talk to. After being seated and looking through the menu, it was so hard to choose what to get because everything sounded so delicious. For drinks, my coworker got the Georgia peach which was SO GOOD & I ordered the catdaddy mocha. I didn't care for it too much because it was super strong so I wouldn't order it again. For appetizers, we got the fried green tomatoes and they were so tasty! We also got some beinets but they weren't anything special. For our entrees, I settled for the fried catfish with fries! I loved the fried batter on the catfish, it was incredible! My coworker got the Ruben sandwich and holy crap, it was probably the best Ruben I've ever had! Overall, I really enjoyed dining here! I would definitely stop by again and try their breakfast!

The batter and crunch from the fish and shrimp was delicious. I didn't finish my grist and had them the next day and just as good. Brussels sprouts could have been chopped in 1/4 to get more sauce on them or cooked a little more tender. The Jambalaya was seasoned perfectly for me. The beignets were very dense and not light on the inside, maybe skip those next time. The brown sugar lemonade was on point!! Would recommend for a brunch date on a the weekends. The staff were helpful and responsive. Food came out quickly and the music set the ambiance

Fiod made fresh and was so delicious. One of the best soul food restaurants ever! I thought my grandma was in the kitchen preparing my food. Great service and wonderful personality!! 5 Star!!!!!!!

Date: 9/4/2026 Time: 9:20 PM 58° Cool…read more It is 7:30 PM and I wasn't sure what I felt like having for dinner. My male companion had a craving for some gumbo. Okay, I was not that impressed with the gumbo from Y's Choice. While searching on this website, I saw another restaurant (Cajun Claws) listed in Oakland. A quick phone call to Cajun Claws re: their gumbo. The gentleman who answered the phone told me their gumbo had sausage and potatoes. That gumbo certainly did not sound appealing to my male companion and me. I pass. Time is flying by quickly. A further search resulted in Nella's Place in San Leandro. I called around 8:15 PM, and asked about their gumbo and what time they close. What was described to me sound quite tasty. Leaving from Alameda to San Leandro, we arrived at Nella's Place before 9:30 PM. Nella's is a black owned restaurant serving up gumbo and soul food. It is a one room restaurant with a seating capacity of approximately 20 people. I have to admit the ambiance and decor are quite classy, beautiful and intimate. The owner is very hospitable, gracious and attentive. It is my first time at this restaurant. I did not know what to expect. I was surprised and totally impressed with the layout of this restaurant and the menu. Samples of the gumbo, mac 'n cheese, green beans and potatoes were served. OMG, the samples were ono delicious - quite pleasing to my palate. Eats: Gumbo with rice and cornbread for my male companion; basa dinner (6 pieces) with two sides and cornbread. My sides were green beans and potatoes (candied) and fried cabbage. The dinner was bomb-diggity delicious. So good, and figuratively speaking, I wanna slap the cook and the mama for this wonderful feast. LOL. Of course, my eyes got bigger than my stomach and I had to ask for a box to take the rest of my dinner home. I hope for more visits to Nella's in the future.

Kinda an odd experience. Ordered brisket. Looked and smelled really good…read more After waiting for about 5 minutes for someone to come to the counter. He's placing the brisket in my serving box and says. "Oh, by the way we are out of sauce." I arrived just before 2:00 PM. I asked for a cup for the soda machine, that's not working. Choice is Coke or Sprite. The collard greens were the only side they had left. They were good. Brisket had a nice smoke taste but could have used a little sauce. I can't remember going to a bbq place that has run out of sauce. I also can't remember ordering an entree and not getting at least 1 side included in the price. I was charged for a small greens after paying $31 for the brisket. Maybe I tried them on an off day.

ANOTHER LOCATION - HE'S BACK…read more I ate at the original location at West Oakland about four years ago. During my only time eating there I had the best BBQ experience ever. The spareribs tasted like pork candy. The brisket melted in my mouth. The sausage had that snap when you took a bite. When the West Oakland location closed I ate at the Old Oakland location twice. Both times I had two subpar meals. I was disappointed because the best BBQ I ever had was at Horn Barbecue in West Oakland. I wasn't sure if I was going to come back to Horn Barbecue again. What changed? I got an inKind app, which included a $25 reward. Also I decided to give the Lafayette location a try. The first time I came here was on a Saturday night in March. Beef ribs are available on Saturdays only, but when I got to the front of the line they were out. Also sold out was the beef sausage. What I ate consisted of large coleslaw, 1 lb of pork ribs, 1 lb of brisket, and cheddar sausage. My initial taste of the pork ribs reminded me of the experience I had at the West Oakland location. The brisket was moist and the cheddar sausage had the snap. The next time I came to back to this location was the following Saturday during St. Patrick's Day weekend at 11:00 AM. I wanted the beef rib. I was able to get a beef rib that weighed almost two pounds. In addition I decided to get a pulled pork sandwich. I am not a fan of pulled pork because it tends to be stringy and dry. At Horn Barbecue not only did I get a fatty portion of the pulled pork but also the drizzle of the BBQ sauce. As someone who hates pulled pork the pulled pork sandwich at Horn Barbecue is the best pulled pork I ever had. I was impressed with the pork ribs, beef rib, and pulled pork. What about the chicken? I came here on a weekday for half chicken. Maybe this is not fair but the best BBQ chickens I've eaten were in Hawaii. The half chickens I've eaten at Horn Barbecue are smoky and flavorful but not as juicy as the huli-huli chickens I ate in Hawaii. Even though I enjoyed my multiple visits at this location I couldn't give this place a 5-star rating because my first and only visit at original location was special.

I ordered the 6 piece crispy fried chicken wings (hot) and paid an extra $1 for kimchi fried rice. Ordered through the app and picked up in person. Surprisingly, the place was completely dead during lunch, but pickup was quick and easy. The food was packaged nicely with the lid slightly open so the chicken wouldn't get soggy. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a nice crisp. The hot flavor was good, but I'll definitely go extra spicy next time. The kimchi fried rice was disappointing though. The flavor was good, but the texture was weirdly mushy and gummy, almost like a paste. The rice wasn't overcooked, so I'm guessing they used too much gochujang. Overall, the chicken was great and the lunch special is a good deal. I'll be back, but next time I'm sticking with white rice!
