We stopped by recently and, even in the middle of the afternoon, the place was bustling. We enjoyed a couple of ciders, including the passion fruit and peach varieties. We also appreciate that they offer gluten-free options, though we'd love to see a few more vegan choices on the menu. Our son enjoyed his kids' meal and, as always, had a great time playing in the outdoor playground. We encountered a few issues at the end of our visit. My drink was snatched away before I'd finished it! And when it was time to pay, our server handed over the payment device already set to the tipping screen, so I didn't have the opportunity to review an itemized bill first. It wasn't until I received the customer copy of the receipt afterward that I noticed an "operations fee" had been added to the total. I would appreciate a bit more transparency around this charge and a chance to review the full bill before completing payment.

But both times, I have left disappointed. The most recent visit, I brought friends from out of town so I made a deck reservation. We were sat at a table that was in uninterrupted, direct sunlight. We had to ask for them to lower the shade which meant we couldn't enjoy the view but spared us from being sunburned and overheated. My friends split a flight and one of the flavors was wrong. Then when our food arrived, one of their bison burgers was extremely overcooked (despite the waiter asking them how they wanted it cooked). My friend sent the burger back and got attitude from the waiter. When we got the bill, they charged us for the first overcooked burger. We only noticed because we happened to look at the email receipt. They fixed it when we brought it up, but it was really frustrating after the experience we had. Additionally, we didn't realize there was a 4% service charge. Overall, this place is just not worth the drive and price. For $60/person for food and drinks, it's not worth it for such an underwhelming experience.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was too! My partner and I tried the soft pretzels ($11.95) and the green chile and pepper jack burger ($17.95). Both were great! Pretzels were fresh, tender, and piping hot! Comes with 3 and they paired well with the cider cheese. The burger was incredible tasty caramelized onions, green chile, beef, and cheese- we requested aioli on the side but great flavors and served with perfect crispy fries! The server brought us filled glasses and then told us if we wanted any refills, we could get them ourselves from the big cooler jug outside. Um...okay. The rest of the service was pretty much the same -- apathetic. We ordered a flight of beer for the four adults at the table. It was about $30 and came with about 15 small glasses of cider, one of each flavor they served. We shared it and got to sample everything that way. I ordered the Cider Burger (medium rare) with fries as my side. It came out medium well, which instantly ruins and dries out any good burger experience. The fries were tepid as well. I don't think we even saw our server again until the end, and even then we had to wait for awhile for the check. So, overall, It was just an okay experience. If I'm in the Idaho Springs area again, I wouldn't return to Clear Creek Cidery & Eatery. I'd definitely explore other options.

However, I think the best part is definitely the options for tasting menu as well as options for a full glasses of a variety of siders that they produce both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I had recently had Haykin Family Cider as part of a dinner pairing menu at a local restaurant, so I was pleased to see it on the list. The tasting room is large and nicely decorated. Staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. They have multiple options for tastings: flights, tasters, or a glass. All are generous pours at reasonable prices. Their menu lists detailed information about each cider as well as the tasting notes to as the level of how dry or sweet the selection is. Haykin Family Cider makes small batch cider with bubbles that are similar to sparkling wine. We were able to hang out for a bit and laugh and relax. It was a great experience and I would happily return.
