I chose the Cabernet Franc and my sweetie had the Grand Reserve. Both were delicious. We shared a charcuterie platter. It had a nice selection of nibbles. The presentation was lovely. The person taking care of us was welcoming and gave us great recommendations. She was a one woman show that night and even built our charcuterie board for us. Their space is lovely, and they have a more private back room as well. The sauvignon blanc goes down like water and the food was delicious as well. We were really disappointed with the treatment we received at Silver Vines this past weekend. We went in to use a gift card my husband bought for me last year. Our server was great, but then another woman came over after we handed over the gift card and our credit card, and said the gift card was showing a $0 balance, and "we print these on cardstock, not regular paper". My husband said he remembered the person he bought it from having trouble with printing, and so he left to do a little more shopping and then returned to gather the gift card. She just kept saying, "It shows a $0 balance." I asked if she could look at the transaction history, so we could see when it "was used" (it wasn't). Then she said she would call the owner. We waited about 20 minutes for this to be resolved. They didn't call the owner, it was clear they were just texting with them. My husband actually found the receipt from buying the gift card in his wallet, and went over to give that to them. Finally the woman came back and said, "The owner has credited the gift card with another $50 for you." As if she did us a favor... why would we keep a piece of paper gift card if we had used it? It was clear she didn't believe us that we didn't A) use the gift card (then why would we still have it?) and/or B) forged it completely because it was on "paper not cardstock". They need a better gift card system, and to treat people who come in to drink $75 bottles of wine with more respect. read more

So this was four stars for the great venue and two stars for the wine. I have to say I am spoiled and live in CA. We did a flight for $14 for three wines, and just couldn't finish any of them. That's very unlike me to spit or waste any wine. There are two wines where the grapes are from Washington, cab and syrah, so I got those two to be safe. I love OR/WA wines too. Then there was the dry rose, which I couldn't go past two sips. It had a vodka alcoholic aftertaste for me. The servers were nice and recognized if someone didn't enjoy the wine and offered another tasting. Well my friend was more vocal and I just pawned my wines to my hubs. The venue is large with tons of seating and a semi priv tasting room. If I were to go back, I'd go for the reserve cab. read more

This was a nice winery that we visited. It was well established inside, lots of different wines available on the list. The one thing is that it is a storefront winery and you never know what to suggest. But it was very nice inside. Our waiter was polite and on the ball. All of the wines that we tried I liked. We went for a tasting of both reds and whites. 3 tastes for $12 and though it said the tastes were 2oz , I will tell you they were much more than that. Really nice server explained the differences between the tastes, gave us the best order to drink them and had us seated and brought or tastes to us. Very accommodating and very nice variety of tastings. Seating outdoors was available and a nearly 60 degree day tempted us but we sat indoors regardless but we're so happy with the ambiance inside. This place is mellow as all get out. The atomosphere doesn't feel too snobby or uptight, either. Like, if there is a place to try wines and didn't need the high-class judgement, it is definitely a place to go. The wine here is also pretty good. They even let us have the left over green dye from St. Patty's to match my wonderful green skin! Awesome! Update: The bridal shower was magical! They assembled such a beautiful and delicious spread of charcuterie with fresh fruits, veggies, dips, etc., and we added on their yummy bruschetta. The owner and staff couldn't be nicer and really went above and beyond to make it special. Being able to bring our own decorations and dessert was a plus. And the wines are great! The idea behind this place is so amazing, but the execution is lacking. I have been here several times because it is a cute wine bar that has live music. We usually come here on Thursdays and we love the musician they have. He is personable, interacts in a fun way with customers, plays great songs, and even takes requests. This last time we came on a Saturday night and they had a different singer. He had a great voice, but OMG it was so incredibly loud that when we left we could hear him perfectly from about 5 shops down. It made it impossible to have a conversation at our table at all. The size of the venue is small, so the need for a microphone and amplifier is not needed....at all. The people sitting near him had to get up and move to the back of the restaurant because it was deafening. I enjoy music, but this was ridiculous. I am hesitant to return because it is impossible to have or enjoy a conversation here. I have never ordered the food here, but it looks ok...fruit, meats, cheeses. As far as the wine goes, I usually order the Rocky White, which is pretty good. It tastes like a very sweet green apple. It is $10 a glass, so it is worth just buying the whole bottle for $25. This time though we ordered the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc for $28. It was just ok. I only had 1 glass because it did not have much of a flavor. The waitress seemed surprised that we didn't finish it and didn't want to take it home. Neither of us wanted any more of it. I could probably overlook the subpar wine and just enjoy the atmosphere and being there listening to music if I was able to converse with my friends while doing so. My suggestion....don't use an amp or a microphone. Being loud doesn't make the music better, it just makes it less enjoyable. It is a wine bar, not a Red Rocks concert. read more

Cute little owned Winery in Olde Town. The wine is good and you can also buy a bottle to bring home if you love it a lot! The atmosphere is very relaxing, making it a great date spot or place to catch-up with friends. The live music is also really nice. It's not too loud where you can't talk to each other. Service has always been great!! Friendly, expedient and always attentive. Feels like they really know their local customers, making it feel like a homey place. Love the atmosphere, love the service, clean and convenient to the parking garage. Did a wine tasting. Can't say I was wild about the wines. They were good.. just not great. Maybe it's just me, moving back from Europe recently. The tastings are priced low enough though, I didn't feel cheated and they did a pretty sizable pour. Riesling's are dry and not sweet at all in Europe and my experience has been they are sweet in the USA. I specifically asked if the Riesling was sweet here and they said no.... It's sweet. read more

First time Silver Vines Winery visit. This place is located in a cute part of town called Arvada, CO. We visited the winery on a Sunday evening. The winery was empty due to the weather conditions, but the staff was very welcoming when we arrived. We were seated and our host told us a little bit about the winery and gave us a few suggestions. I opted for the housemade cider with processco, apple slice, caramel and a cinnamon stick. The drink was absolutely amazing. The only thing I would have added was a blanket and a warm fire. I was spending the night in Arvada and looking for something to do that was walkable from my hotel and stumbled upon this cute little wine bar. The semi-decent, live easy listening music drew me in, as did the chance to try wine made in Colorado! I'm a wine lover and a serious wine snob, so I didn't expect the wine to be any good (and it wasn't). But it also wasn't completely undrinkable -- if you temper your expectations and enjoy it for what it is. Wine: 1 star. Winery experience: 4 stars. We were warmly greeted by the woman behind the bar; she was super welcoming and so friendly. After being told to sit anywhere, we opted for a high top table with a good view of the evening's free entertainment and the super cool fountain behind the bar. Not wanting to get stuck with a full glass of crap wine, hubby and I each ordered a different wine flight. As with most mediocre wine, the sweeter the better, and that old adage holds true here. The wines bordering on dessert wines were by far the best. Avoid their chocolate wine, however. No. Just, no. This isn't a place I'd want to buy a bottle to enjoy, but it's a fun, casual, and relaxing place to sample some of the state's homemade wines. They have a cheese plate you can order to accompany your wines but after seeing what was brought out to adjacent tables, we are glad we passed on the food. This winery offered 3 2 ounce pours for $12- you can pick any wines you like except for one of the port wines. The wines were all drinkable, but my absolute favorite was the Rocky Mountain White, which smelled and tasted like starbursts. One of the dessert reds tasted like it had chocolate melted into it. It was really rich and heavy. Next time I go in I would just order a glass of the Rocky Mountain white. I loved the location- old town Arvada is cute and has plenty of parking and lots of restaurants and bars. The interior was gorgeous and would impress a date or out of town visitors. read more

My girlfriend and I love wine. We usually go here on fridays or Thursday and sit outside as I mean cmon...it's beautiful out! The seating is plentiful and always cleaned so that's a plus! The selection of wines is pretty intense, like beyond what I know about wines (which isn't much) intense haha! But the flavor and overall aroma is always tasty and great. Definitely a favorite for a nice drink. The waitresses are always nice and attentive and I have yet to chat with one who was rude or mean. Glad the manager keeps good staff here. Very tough to find that now a days! They have tasty little snacks here but what dings them a star is not having small little "hot" dishes or something of the sort to nibble on. This is a gorgeous winery and tasting room with lots of space for a group and very friendly service. I had been meaning to drop in here for a while. So, when I saw the $5 tasting sign out front after an errand at Penzey's Spice Shop, I just had to check it out. The winery is really impressive, a long bar for tasting solo and lots of tables for bringing friends. There is even a long group table in the back. It's just a comfortable place to drink some wine and chat. The ladies who were working the night I dropped in were so friendly. I was the only person at the bar and they kept me company while I tried my flight. Food: They only serve cheese plates here. But, you are welcome to bring in your own food/snacks or order-in. Wine: I just did a 3 tasting flight ($5). The Cabernet is nice, definitely on the dry end of the Cab spectrum. The Grand Reserve is fantastic, very fruit forward as compared to the Cab. And, if you like truly powerful reds, go for the Syrah. I will most certainly be back, with friends and snacks in tow! read more

This is one of the best wineries I've ever been to. Like walking into a beautiful wine cellar. We had a tasting of Cab Franc ,Malbec and Pinot Grigio. They offered a variety of small bites, we ordered a premium cheeseboard . The wine was very delightful , sophisticated and wonderful finishes. EXTREMELY slow service. We ended up going inside to order after waiting more than 15 minutes and then the bottle of wine took 30+ minutes and then she brought the wrong bottle. By the time we got our cheeseboard we had drank our wine because it took them easily 45+ minutes. The place wasn't crowded so I have no idea what the two servers were doing. The service there is going to kill this place, shocked it hasn't already. The two tables around us wanted to cancel their orders because the timing of the service. On top of that they ended up calling the paramedics on the table next to us accusing one of the girls of being too drunk - we spoke with her and she had 2 glasses of wine and was not drunk AT ALL. I'm a member of the wine club, which gives me discounts on top of two bottles of wine per month. It's one of my favorite places to hear live music as it's a small atmosphere and the musicians are very personable and take requests. I went here last night fora calligraphy event in the private room in the back. We had some of the sweet red wine and although I don't particularly care for the sweet red wine, it was very tasty. They had a wonderful meat and cheese board there too and I was impressed with the variety of snacks on it. You can even join the wine club as well and it's actually very cheap compared to California wine clubs. if you can't find parking right in front then they have a free parking lot 2 blocks away.
