Then when he did acknowledge me and I stated I would sit at the bar, it took several minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me. The staff was busy speaking to each other and doing side work. Once I was acknowledged, things started getting a little better. When I arrived during breakfast/brunch, I was informed they were in the middle of a menu change, so my choices were limited. Breakfast items include bacon and burritos. I started off with a charcuterie board (though I had asked for a fromage board). This was not only because I wanted some tasty cheese, but I was trying to kill time until the lunch/dinner menu started. The board was a great board, two different meats, three cheeses, a loaf of bread, some nuts and jellies. But it was 40 dollars! I had a few small plates (which was still a lot of food). I had a melon and cucumber salad, which was a good palate cleanser. I also had the roasted king mushrooms, which were underwhelming with no seasoning, and they were a little chewy. The best thing was the wild boar meatballs, which were seasoned really well and in a savory, delicious marinara sauce. All the cocktails were fruity (but not sweet) and refreshing. I had one that was carrot based (Kiss my Carrot with tequila, cointreau, carrot, orange, and ginger), one that had pineapple flavor (paper boat with rum, falernum, aperol, lemon, pineapple), and the smoky smoke and flower (hibiscus mezcal, cointreau, pama, rose water). This spot is a winery, so they have a large wine list. They have handhelds like burgers and flatbreads. Starters like artichoke dip and bruschetta. Some of the current entrees, which might change, are hanger steak, chilean salmon, cauliflower steak. They had a gnocchi dish I was interested in, but it's already been removed from the menu. The restaurant is classy and just like a winery is expected to be. The food is pretty good. But the service was really subpar.

Blanchard Family Wines is located in the Dairy Block off of Wazee near Union Station. We went in around the holidays in December and were met with prompt service and very kind servers. The place is set up for groups, parties, or can be just for one or two. They do have a good selection of wines, both whites and reds based off what I saw from their menu. They also had a wine cocktail that was very tasty, though this was seasonal. Looking to try out some new wines, Blanchard's is your place.

Interestingly, the wines we've enjoyed most have been the whites and rosés (La La La is fantastic), which is surprising because we much prefer red wines. I hate paying $100 for servers to act condescending and trite over something as easy as basic customer service. Refused to place my hummus order with my wine bottle "to go" order unless I sat down and had it ordered by another staff member. Soooo I took my single glass of wine and had to find a host member to get me a table, go sit and wait 20 minutes just to place an order of hummus. Then another 20 for it to arrive. I just wanted to pop in for a glass of wine and small plate of hummus as snack to go w the wine. Plenty of servers. No big crowds or big rush, the bar was empty and mind you the venue is very small. So not sure what the big deal was. I think owners and management need to educate the newer younger staff on REAL customer service and how to make things work for the customer not the other way around. Like why was this bartender making something so simple so difficult. Also, at the end of my visit I didn't appreciate being startled and rudely interrupted 2x by a very young waitress that is clearly new and obviously has zero customer service skills or experience serving people. There's bar seating as well as some other tables/couchy areas. The options here are either a wine tasting OR purchase a bottle of wine and drink it there (or take it home). You unfortunately can't just order a single pour. I had done the white tasting and my husband the red. We were impressed with the flavor palates and ended up taking a bottle of white and a bottle of red home. Really a little hidden gem in Centennial and definitely plan to go back again.
