What a great hidden-in-plain-sight wine cellar! For Valentine's Day we wanted to try a new spot and gave this place a go. It's in a shopping plaza with Max Taps among other stores but it feels super quiet and calm inside. The staff here was very friendly and since the place was relatively empty we had some nice convos. There's bar seating as well as some other tables/couchy areas. The options here are either a wine tasting OR purchase a bottle of wine and drink it there (or take it home). You unfortunately can't just order a single pour. I had done the white tasting and my husband the red. We were impressed with the flavor palates and ended up taking a bottle of white and a bottle of red home. Really a little hidden gem in Centennial and definitely plan to go back again. read more

My husband found this wonderful wine tasting room just 15 min from our home in Castle Rock and the wines are amazing! We've been looking for a nice little wine bar with good California wines and this is the image! The staff is so friendly and it's a nice and relaxing place to come try some delicious wines. They source their grapes from Paso Robles and Columbia Valley. Ps. Don't bring kids unless they are extremely well behaved. So rude and ruins the ambiance. We will be back very soon! read more

What a great dtc find! We are wine club members here and love it. The owners are such nice people and so welcoming (even when I've brought my baby/toddler in on occasion). I love that they have a wine club where you get 2 3-or-6 packs a year vs each month as we don't drink that much at home. Also, they do a twice annual party for their wine club when it's time to pick up your shipments that is amazing- unlimited wine tastes, food, live music, and their great patio. My only downside for a day to day visit is that you have to purchase a bottle vs a glass so hopefully you are with others who all agree on what to try! read more

A new wine tasting experience in Colorado? Tell me more. One of the best ways to try and experience good wine is that relaxed wine tasting experience. This is an experience where you remove the all that external "noise" and get to try a flight of wines and sometimes paired cheese selection with each wine. When you walk into Ladrón Cellars you feel immediately relaxed with the decor and smiling hosts. This is very rare to have thugs more "traditional" tasting experience vs the wine bar feel. We were able to taste their main flight as well the reserve flight. Both were delicious and smoothly guided you through the different blends and tastes follow. Well balanced and some nice complexities that peeked out in each sip. A few wines that I enjoyed (and picked up a few bottles) this visit were the Matador which was mostly Tempranillo with a little zin (perfect note of some pepper). The other one I really enjoyed was their 2018 Knuckles. This bottle had and old school bare knuckle boxer art on the front and did it's "jab"on my palate. We got to have a tour of threat back area and wine making facility and future barrel tasting room. Even though when I came to visit it was snowing out, but they have an amazing patio and looks like a relaxing place to take in a sunset with some wine. Overall ver satisfied and so glad I found this new wine tasting experience. Unassuming place in a strip mall but the owner was so friendly. We had an infant with us (not sampling the wine!) and that was no problem for them. Heads up: They only do wine tastings OR wine by the bottle. Their wine by the bottle was reasonably priced. We got a bottle of the Escape Artist and all 4 of us loved it. We also got the charcuterie board which had all sorts of lovely cheeses on it. I am sure we will be back again the next time we are in town. Oh also worth mentioning is their view of sunsets. My wife and I hired a babysitter and drove here for a date night. We walked in the door at 7:40 and the lady behind the bar immediately told us they were closing soon but we could come back in the morning. We double checked hours and they state they close at 9:00 according to the sign on the door and internet. No idea how the wine is and we'll never know because we won't be back. read more

I came here with my father for a dad/daughter wine tasting date. We both enjoy wine and know a decent bit about it, and we were SO impressed. This is by far the best winery I've been to (and best wines I've had) in Colorado. We loved the Grifter and Escape Artist. Tracy took time telling us about Ladron, its process, style, etc and gave us a nice (but not over-the-top) description of each wine. We really enjoyed the info, knowledge and attention she provided us. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed sipping our flights on a perfect Colorado fall day and had the absolute best time. I know my dad will be going back soon with my mom to show her a great new spot, and I'm sure I'll be back again soon! read more

What a find--Ladron Cellars! If you've been looking for a quality winery and tasting experience in Denver, your search is over. They combine elegant wine in an elegant setting that's also friendly and unpretentious. I recently stopped in for a tasting. Tracy was pouring that afternoon, and I learned her husband is the winemaker. She's gracious and very knowledgeable. The tasting room is tucked into a retail space in the DTC that's easy to get to. With comfy seating areas, a fireplace, and a pretty bar, the setting is serene and comfortable. I learned that Winemaker Richard Crocker sources his fruit from vineyards on the Central Coast of California and produces the wine right here. The artistic labels describe what's inside each bottle, and all play on the winery's name. Ask for the fun backstory! I really enjoyed the Alibi white blend of Grenache Blanc and Clairrerrte Blanc. Moving on to the reds, The Grifter is a great GSM and The Vault a robust Cabernet Sauvignon-focused blend. Their wines are all elegant and complex, and I enjoyed them all. Ladron is doing it right. It's a terrific setting with terrific views from the spacious patio! They take great care of their guests and the wines are delicious. Having been opened for just over a year, Ladrón Cellars is already making and impressive impact in the local area. Owners Richard and Tracy Crocker have started off making some quality reds and whites sourced from Paso Robles and the Washington state area. Having gotten the "bug" from visiting other wineries in Europe and New Zealand as well as wine owners and winemakers, Richard set off getting some top-notch schooling in Washington. French for "thief", the winery's name is a take on "grabbing" grapes from other states and producing wines in Colorado. There is also a sister winery in Paso Robles that they are partnering with called Emercy Wines. Richard is working on sourcing grapes from Colorado vineyards to producing some great locally sourced wines, as well. In addition, grapes are coming from the Red Mountain area and Frenchman Hills. Most of the wines currently served are traditional Rhone style, with other reds. There are a few whites to satisfy white wine lover cravings, too. Initially selling wines at farmer's markets, the couple are happy to have a tasting room with fantastic ambiance and décor to ease you into that relaxed wine tasting mood. Many of the bottles have unique artistic labels from a local artist they have teamed with for the labels. There are currently three wine flights to choose from for your tasting. We started off with a new-to-be released Chardonnay sourced from Santa Maria Valley AVA. Partially fermented in concrete, it hits the marks of a good Chardonnay. Most of the wines we tried had grapes sourced from Paso Robles. The white blend 2019 Evidence is 65% Clairette Blanc and 35% Grenache Blanc. It is quite rich with delicate notes on the front and mid palate. The 2016 Heist is their second wine produced. It's a blend of 50% Grenache, 42% Syrah, and 8% Petite Sirah. Even at just 6 years old, it comes across as young with fruit forward jammy notes and a traditional GSM like feel to it. Next was the 2016 Stowaway. Primarily Syrah with 8% Petite Sirah, it has smoky and leathery notes, yet quite smooth with a French like lean dry finish. Their Zinfandel blend is the 2019 Escape Artist. A mix of 33% Zinfandel, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Syrah, and 11% Petite Sirah, this red beast hits the 15% plus abv mark and is well balanced, has good structure, and teases you with notes of white pepper. Moving on to bolder red wines, we kicked off with the 2020 Getaway. This 57% Zinfandel, 24% Graciano, and 19% Syrah delights with a deep red hue, smoky notes, and begs for some good BBQ! Cab lovers will appreciate the 2018 Vault. Topped off with 10% Petite Sirah, it is more tannic than the previous reds with notes of blackberries, a peppery feel, and a good mouth smacking ending to this deep dark red wine. Following that bold red wine beast is the 2018 Cliffhanger. Blended with 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Syrah, 19% Mourvèdre, and 17% Petite Sirah, it is a well-balanced red blend with notes of pepper, fruit forward, and moderate acids. Lastly, is the 2018 Knuckles. This Petite Sirah bold red wine has 8% Syrah and was aged in new and neutral oak. It has a super dark color, expresses deep rich fruit flavors, and is one to savor for a long time to come. There are also light red wine flights as well with Grenache and Mourvèdre, but you certainly won't go wrong with whatever one you choose. You know there is nothing like trying out a newly opened winery to absorb all that excitement and enthusiasm with everyone. The owners will certainly make you feel warm and welcomed and if you time your visit just right, the evening sunset on the tasting room is a blessed sight to experience. Spent an absolutely lovely evening at Ladròn and will definitely be back! We tried two different flights and enjoyed both the wine as well as owner Tracy's explanation of the blends and the very cool original artwork on each bottle. We ordered the charcuterie plate which was generous and tasty (those spiced nuts, wow!) and as if all that wasn't enough, the space has a big patio with a gorgeous view of the setting sun over the mountains AND there was live music by the incredibly talented Biff Gore which was basically a private concert.
