This is, hands down, one of the better stores I have ever been in from a spirit point of view. Whiskey is my jam, but the allocations that were out across the board were stunning tbh. I was in town for a wedding and randomly decided to drop in. Every employee was wonderful - experienced and friendly. I had a great whiskey convo with a gentleman with an epic mustache and each employee was just as friendly and knowledgable as the last. Having been collecting for years now, I try to gravitate towards single barrel selections - a great way to get a twist on a known taste/profile. I was guided towards pick, after pick, after pick. I ended up walking away with 4 store picks - and they are all delicious (2 of which are arguably the best of that brand I've ever had). Sufficient to say I will be back, I will most likely prioritize a stop next time I'm in Denver (I'm based in Chicago). I cannot recommend this place enough in terms of product and overall experience in the store. I've had my fair share of barrel picks and given the quality and consistency of the ones I've had from there, I can tell their pick team/process is absolutely top tier. Beyond the wine, they have an amazing liquor section with some of the most unique liquors -- many that I had only seen behind a bar before. They also had a decent selection of beers in the back! I gave the man my information and application several times, but this time I went in to check up on things, he explained to me that he will not hire me because I am a woman. Now, I really wish that I had recorded that entire conversation, but I was so shocked that I left in tears actually. He explained to me like a child how I should apply at King Soopers because that's where they hire women I have been a customer here for years, and this man had never seemed as though he would discriminate, but I am spending money there so why would he. Either way, please cease to support this company and this man. I am not a disgruntled person or ex employee, just a person who was looking for a job only to be actually told he will not hire me because I'm a woman. Please, take these words to heart. There a several liquor stores nearby that would be a much better choice because we should not be giving our hard earned money to a company that discriminates. I am taking legal action immediately. Be kind and most of all, be aware. Many folks are struggling right now and to be turned down that way, leaving so upset, left me very aware of who I have been supporting for several years. I've been staying at home, but was out of some of the beer I wanted to use. I went out for another errand and happened to pass by Cask and Craft. Hmmm...this sounds interesting. Plus it's a local shop, and I'm all about supporting local, particularly during this time. I pulled up Cask and Craft's website and was super happy to see the list of precautions they are taking to keep their customers safe. Some of these precautions include only 2 people in the shop at a time, use provided hand sanitizer when you enter, and even curbside pick up/delivery. Since I was sitting in front of the store, I figured I'd just go in, get what I needed, and quickly head home. I was greeted and asked to use the hand sanitizer upon entering - yes, thank you. I then explained from a distance that I was looking for a dark beer, preferably a stout. I was escorted to the back of the store and shown the fridge with all the dark beer. WOW! big selection. I had the choice of 6 packs, 4 packs, or mix and match. This was perfect for me because I needed 5 beers. I ended up selecting Jackie O's Java the Stout. When I brought up my 5 pack, the owner told me it was a great beer (one of his favorite dark beers) and that it was a solid choice. He was not wrong. This beer is awesome, and paired so well with my peanut butter cookie pairing. So good. I will definitely be back to Cask and Craft. Their shop is filled with all different types of wine, liquor, and beer. It's organized so nicely, and the shop itself has this comforting vibe when you walk in. I'm so appreciative of everything they are doing to keep customers safe and for the recommendations they give.
