Fantastic wine shop, just catty corner to my favorite Three Dog Bakery! I was running errands before heading to a friend's for dinner. I'd picked up treats for her doggos and planned on going to a different spot to grab booze for the hoomans until Amendment XXI caught my eye. I walked in and through the narrow aisles, careful not to knock anything over. There was a huge variety of wines, cheeses, and garnishes. I picked some options I thought looked good but will definitely ask for assistance next time when I'm not in a rush. Service is alright here at this local business. Quick and straightforward. I like that it's close to where I live, but parking can be a challenge. Seems to get mixed reviews on Yelp. It's no large liquor store like Argonaut, but you'll definitely walk out of Amendment XXI happy with a few bottles of wine. read more

Cheers to you, Leo! We love this store so much. Living next door for 6 years, this review is clearly long overdue. They have a rotating selection of unique beers, wines from around the world, while also always having the classic spirits you would expect in a liquor store. For a store with a smaller footprint, they really have the perfect selection on any given day. Take your pup (they'll give 'em a treat from the local 'Three Dog Bakery')! They also use a nice points/reward program for their loyal shoppers, and also sell Vinyl. It's a good deal on Mondays; If you buy a vinyl, you get a discount on your whole order. Okay .. one more thing if you've made it this far. They obviously have their prices a little higher than your typical "chain stores". I dropped in with some friends this Saturday for their weekly wine tasting. The tasting was free and consisted of 4 French wines, three white and one red. The presenter was great and answered all of my dumb questions :) The store owner did the actual pouring. I really enjoyed the light, white varietal and was pleased to see that it was only $13. So, they weren't trying to push some really expensive wines, which was nice. It was perfect for the BBQ we were going to have that afternoon. The wines in the shop are arranged by location, rather than grape-type, which was pretty cool. They do these tastings most Saturday afternoons 4-7pm. We will definitely be back! We lucked out and found a parking spot right in front. But, it is street parking only and I'm sure some of you know how difficult it can be to find a spot in this area most of the time. So, if you can walk or ride your bike, I'd highly recommend it. read more

Very nice liquor/wine establishment in the Highlands, about 1 1/2 miles NW of Union Station. Parking near there is...interesting, to say the least...nearest intersection merges 5 streets. If someone barrels around a corner and you give them the right of way, they *will* take that only spot that's empty for a 3-4 block radius. (But that's hardly the liquor store's fault...just givin a heads up). Proprietors were friendly, and it seemed like they had a nice selection of things, but I was primarily there for the Arta Tequila Tasting on Cinco de Mayo, so I can't really go into any depth here. I didn't check prices on many of their liquors, but I can tell you they wanted $40 for a bottle of Arta Silver, $50 for a bottle of Arta Reposado and $60 for a bottle of Arta Anejo (the differences are: not aged, aged in oak barrels for 11 months, and aged in oak barrels for 2 years -- really changes the nature of the tequila). $60 for a bottle of tequila seems pretty damn steep to me...*but*...it was artisan tequila and not mass-produced, so... Nice place. You could do worse than take a lovely walk in the Highlands area and end up here. But I'm betting there are cheaper places around town to find what you need. The girl that helped me tonight definitely knows her stuff. She helped me find some affordable crowd faves. I came home, opened the Underwood, and paired it with the Drunken Goat cheese. I've been in to Amendment a few times now. Once, not so great of a visit and then deciding to give it another try, I was a little more impressed. The first time I wandered in here was after an eyebrow wax next door at Brows and I remembered I needed to pick up a housewarming gift for a friend I'd be seeing in the evening. Now, I know I get a little red after an eyebrow wax and I tend to look a little like a clown, but the guy who I asked about GF beer (the housewarming gift was for a celiac) looked at me/treated me like I was a bit of a fool. Sure, GF beer is kinda a bummer-I heard the sound WAH WAH when I tried a sip, but I couldn't figure out what the guy was being so condescending about. I felt really self-conscious, quickly grabbed a random GF six pack and high-tailed it out of there. It probably isn't the first time he's seen a inflamed Brows client come in post wax, but he acted like I was a leper. After another visit to Brows, I again needed an evening drink for a dinner I was headed to later. I wanted a really nice bottle of red to go with the steak I had been told was being served. The woman who was working this time around was the total opposite to the man from my previous visit. She was helpful, suggestive, and friendly. While I was still red this time around, I left feeling pretty good about my purchase. I may be back, but I will have to do a walk-by first to make sure the kinda jerky guy isn't working first. read more

This is an overpriced addition to a block that needs some more interesting shops (like Mona Lucero's). I was underwhelmed with the selection and especially prices (wines anywhere from $4-7 more per bottle than other stores in the area). Its on my way from NW Denver to downtown, so will likely use it for emergencies only. I can't afford to make this a regular stop. On the plus side, nice owner and interesting layout. People with lots of disposable income in the neighborhood will be happy. read more

I've really tried to like this store-and I've ignored the bad attitude until now. I've e been there probably seven times because it was close to where I used to live. I was back in the ole 'hood and stopped by for white wine and champagne. As I asked for help I was reminded of the snobby attitude. I explained exactly what I was looking for-and what I didn't like Both the wine and champagne that were recommended, and I bought, had flavor profiles that were what I said I didn't like-lots of citrus and grapefruit. Really disappointed with what is generally a simple transaction today. Arrived at one of my favorite local wine shops to make my weekly purchases only to be greeted by rude and inconsiderate service. I brought my selections to the counter for check out to be greeted by a young gal enamored with a text message on her phone. After setting my items on the counter for purchase, the tenant proceeded to finish the text message with a giggle and then acknowledged my presence. We started the transaction and before I even had a chance to initiate conversation, or get my card to the chip reader,she was eyes deep in her phone again. I removed my card from the chip reader, apologized for interrupting her, and went off into the sunset without a thank you or a bag for my wine. Needless to say I didn't leave a tip on the mac pad and probably will not be returning. read more

This place is close to my house & it never disappoints. They have a wall that is 2 for $20 wines and if you're like me (I'm no wine snob, but I can tell when wine is cheap), the wine wall ALWAYS provides! Today I went with the Maroon Bells Guava Ale by 14er Brewing on a whim & I'm happy I did! Tom, it's delicious. Went to this liquor store last night, the guy working was incredibly RUDE and unknowledgeable about his supply. Asked for a sweet red wine, claimed to not have any. Then after clarifying MULTIPLE times that we just want a sweet red wine of any kind that he would recommend, sends us off with a "recommendation" $20 bottle. Get home to open up a bottle of sparkling red wine (in other words pink champagne). Very disappointing. Especially living down the street and a convenient location. read more
