Vegan calzones!--that is what brought my boyfriend and I here without a doubt. We built our own with daiya cheese and it was good but could've been stuffed a bit more. The crumbly stuff on top of the pizza and the bread stix is their soy cheese (you can pick between their in house soy cheese or daiya) I honestly enjoyed the taste of the cheese despite its interesting form. We had a weird experience though. There was a huge party that shared the same table with us and to fit their huge pizzas, one of the workers pushed our plates out of the way while we were eating and without asking. Classic Slice reminds me of one of those little hole in the wall pizza places you find in a big city where at first you aren't sure if you want to even walk in the building, but when you do you wonder why on Earth you wouldn't have gone in in the first place. It's fairly small but has enough tables that you can push together if you have a larger group. They have a simple menu and focus on doing a couple things really really well. We're calzone fans and have struggled to find a good one in Milwaukee since one of our favorite restaurants took them off their menu. We wandered into Classic Slice early on a Saturday afternoon and ordered up a couple of calzones. Everything is made after you order so it's fresh, warm, and totally worth the wait. These suckers are HUGE. One is easily enough to feed two people if you're average hungry. We were all extremely hungry so we each ordered our own and I'm glad we did. They were beyond delicious, stuffed full of toppings and cheese, and easy to eat by hand or with a knife and fork. They have a couple combos if you don't want to think up your own, or you can pick whatever toppings/fillings you want for an extremely reasonable price! Classic Slice is our new go to spot for calzones. It's a good thing we live half an hour away or we'd be there every week and our wallets and waistlines wouldn't be happy with us. read more

Adding a star for the way they handled awful third party delivery. I was trying to use a Grubhub discount code I got for the last time I ordered a pizza delivery that was paid for but never arrived after two hours of frustrated waiting calling lies waiting calling and more lies. I had promised myself not to ever fall for the Grubhub rip off again (rip off, this is an old fashioned expression describing being cheated or robbed), but the discount was about to expire and I wanted a pizza for my football game on television. So foolish of me. Ordered by phone application on YELP at 5pm, an hour before kickoff. An hour later, no pizza. Call Grubhub support, they have a recorded response to call the restaurant. The restaurant reports the pizza has been ready for half an hour. Call Grubhub back, long wait on hold, the "customer service" person promises my driver will be there in 2 minutes after another long wait on hold. I've missed the first quarter now. I balked at the 2 minute estimate when I revealed I knew the driver hadn't even arrived at Classic Slice yet. Get this, the "customer service" person offers me a 20% discount. For a pizza I paid for in full that hasn't even been delivered. Will not ever be delivered (I've experienced this twice before). Wouldn't give me a refund, revised my estimated pizza delivery time upwards an hour, so now it was projected to arrive late in the third quarter, a full two hours after the pizza was made. Apparently Grubhub thinks "customer service agent" is a euphemism for cruel liar. The game was so bad, I just went and picked it up. I still got charged for the delivery, without even the 20% discount promised. After I got home, finished the pizza, watched the rest of the game on DVR, I get 10 angry calls and texts from the Grubhub driver because the pizza wasn't there for him to pick up. Unbelievable gall! Five star review for Classic Slice, the old pizza was still warm and didn't taste bad for how old it was. So, whatever you do, DO NOT ORDER FROM GRUBHUB. If you want to donate some money, make it a worthy not-for profit charity instead. If you want to be frustrated, try teaching at an underfunded open-admissions public college. Calling and picking up or eating on site is the best way do do Classic Slice. This pizza is best right out of the oven. Classic Slice has their own delivery drivers but they don't deliver to Mexican neighborhoods. I'm not going to fault them for this, all the pizza places avoid my neighborhood, social progress is going to have to come from more powerful American institutions to end the ills of poverty and intolerance first. But if you live in a "nice" middle class White neighborhood definitely their delivery is your best option. And count yourself lucky, your socio-economic and ethnic status wasn't earned by any personal effort. Your second and pretty good delivery option is Door Dash, you can get Classic Slice this way, and unlike Grubhub, you actually get a pizza when you pay for it. read more

Fantastic slice of sausage pizza! The crust was thin with a perfect mix of crispy and chewy all at the same time. I ordered the lunch special which came with a slice of pizza and a fountain drink all for $6.15. It was very filling. They also have shakers with oregano, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes to add to your slice. They offer whole pizzas as well and some amazing appetizers. I can't wait to go back and try more options off their menu. This place was on my Yelp bucket list and it was so worth it! Who doesn't love a great slice of pizza!?!?! The avocado salad with beets, pistachio and vegan dressing is my favorite thing on the menu. And I'm a carnivore. My vegan friend truly loves this place, as it's hard to get good vegan pizza. Pizza is great, but I wish the would offer kids sizes. My 7 year old cant eat that much, and it is harder to afford when we have to pay for a full slice. My husband lives the meatallica slice. He says it is delicious and I think he is going to have a heart attack. When I get pizza, I usually go with the Margerita. Was very excited to order when I found out they had gluten free crust plus certain toppings (i.e. basil) that most places do not carry, but was soon very disappointed. My husband ordered a regular crust and I had the gluten free. We both agreed that it was subpar, which for the price (very expensive) you'd expect for it to be relatively delicious. There was nothing special about the sauce and neither of our crusts had much flavor, if any. We tried a second time thinking perhaps it was a fluke but had the same experience. First time visiting classic slice and I'm pretty pleased. I'm not sure there is too much I can say that others haven't. They cater to everyone: meat lovers, vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free people. The bad? Extremely pricey. If you want ranch on the side, it costs $1 for a little cup. All of their stuff is fresh or homemade. I get it. But that is just a little extreme, just sayin.... The good? Worth it. Not all the time obviously, but it's definitely worth the treat. I would also suggest getting a 16"-20" and splitting the cost with friends. We got a build your own 20" pizza and split it between 4 people. We all had 3 nice-sized slices too. It's a nice relaxed, friendly atmosphere. They provide games if you want. I didn't notice anyone playing, so I wonder how often this happens. To my surprise, they offer delivery. This place is literally around the corner and down the street, but for those cold nights you just wanna stay in, yes please. Service is also friendly, which is always a must. Okay. Nothing was greasy. What?! I love that!! We got the jalapeño poppers. Delicious and not greasy. Same goes for the pizza. We got sausage, mushroom and onion. Classic slice has been my favorite pizza parlor for over a decade. My brother is vegan and when he visits from Chicago we are lined up outside at 9:55 before they open to have pizza with their Vegan cheese for breakfast and play the xmen arcade game. Now that we are in covid times I miss playing x-men while i wait but but the delivery is hot and fresh and their wait estimates are accurate. I've been getting pizza here for about a year and it's definitely top notch... but you already know that. I was in both a salad and pizza mood on this visit so I decided to get a Caesar. I didn't realize they had two size options (nor was I offered either) and ended up with a small side. The lettuce was good, I saw them preparing and it was your regular grocery store romaine. The dressing was disappointing as it was the consistency of water and had very little taste. Hmmm, really was debating if Classic Slice even needs my review. The pizza's great and they have made a great addition to the Bayview pizzerias! I think one of the key things is they use fresh ingredients and it totally shows...plus who doesn't love a gigantic slice of pizza(they literally serve ONE slice on a whole pizza tray). Seating inside is mostly family style or at a counter along the window. My favorite is the "Meatallica" Slice...clever bunch over there, if you're not vegetarian I would highly recommend it. The pricing of this place is absolutely ridiculous! I paid over $8 for a single slice of Pepperoni pizza, and they still had the audacity to ask for a tip! For what? You are not serving me anything, why should I tip for for entering my pizza order into the POS system? Not to mention the fact that the people there were unexpressive and a bit rude. Classic Slice is my family's go to pizza place when we have somewhere to be downtown or in the Bay View area. This is also our favorite place to bring guests with kids when they are visiting Milwaukee. It's really laid back and even has some games and coloring books for the kiddos while they wait. The first time I went there was about 7-8 years ago and I noticed a cut out of a piece of pizza that says something like 'size of pizza slice' and laughing when our pizza came and it was much larger than depicted in the drawing. That same drawing is still there and the slices are still way larger than it. I love that you can create your own pizza from the large amount of toppings they offer. The pizza is thin crust and usually a little crunchy which is oddly satisfying. They have amazing cheesy breadsticks that I used to order BBQ sauce with. The combo was amazing but they've since stopped carrying bbq sauce so we stopped ordering them. We don't go here as much anymore but we will be back. read more

Hands down the best gluten-free crust in Wisconsin. I've tried many places and Classic Slice gluten-free crust reigns supreme. I ate the pizza hot out of the oven in the restaurant. At first sight l knew the crust was fresh from scratch and made with pizza love. Nothing commercial here for a crust. One taste I found it to be the perfect base for any type of pizza. On examination it was crunchy but also somewhat elastic for a gluten-free crust. Having the crust be a little elastic is something very unusual from other restaurants and is one of the things I miss from wheat crusts. After my meal I had to tell the crew the crust was absolutely amazing. They said they worked hard to create a stand out gluten-free option for their patrons. Well I can say they truly made a grand slam with this and I will be coming back for more. Bravo Classic Slice! read more

Although I prefer my pizza crust a bit crispy this has some unique offerings like the mashed potatoes bacon pizza for a change of pace. My daughter in law must have gluten-free and says there's is so good we had to call to be sure. She is used to a more cardboard feel to her crust. I looked on Yelp and Facebook for some place in Milwaukee for pizza, and this place came highly recommended. It looked like the type of pizza I was in the mood for, so we went. I'm so glad we did! The atmosphere was fun, the staff were great, and most importantly the pizza was AMAZING. It was just what we were in the mood for, and it was so stinkin good. The crust was thin and crispy on the bottom, but not like thin/cracker crust. The pizza maker came out and spoke with us (which my son thought was super cool). One of two of our go to pizza places in Bayview, we love their gluten free options and artichoke dip (we dip our crusts!). We've taken a spi. Through much of the menu and recommend the vegan Anne Curry (we add cheese when we're feeling up for it), the Popeye and the dolce as our go to choices. Artichoke dip is creamy and tangy - spreads.well and comes with ciabatta (which i often avoid due to the gluten, but it is delicious when I take a nibble). Also recommend the brussel.sprouts with cheese - so darned good we often get 2 so we don't arm wrestle for the last few at the bottom of the pint... Got carry-out during Covid-19. All of the employees wearing face masks for safety which was great to see. My husband got Meatallica which is his favorite as it has four kinds of meat on it. I got Popeye which has spinach, bacon, and ricotta dollops... I mean you can't go wrong with ricotta. In the past I have gotten the slice with mashed potatoes on it which I think is still my favorite. We also shared the spinach dip with ciabatta and that was amazing!!
