I really loved the thin sliced peppers and onions so they were properly cooked when the pizza was done.

You know I love a good hidden gem…read more Old Germantown is just that. We were in the general area-ish doing some shopping and wanted to get some pizza for takeout some place closeby to enjoy at home while watching the Olympics (because it's in Italy--so pizza seemed like just the thing). A search on Yelp brought up this place as somewhat closeby. It was after dark when we went in search of it. We drove down a rural road past what appeared to be a driveway that led to a farm. This can't be it. We tried again. Navigation brought us to the same driveway. My husband was ready to give up. I decided to call the business. A kindly gentleman answered and said--yep! It will look like you're driving to a farm but we're here! As we got closer to the end of the drive we saw a bustling parking area. While it might be hard to find--the people have found it. And, so did we. We entered to find beer hall vibes with tons of communal seating. We asked if we could order to go which they were more than willing to accommodate. We found a couple bar stools at their bar, ordered our salads and pizza, and then enjoyed a couple of stout beers while we waited. The beers, salad, and the pizza straight from their wood fired pizza oven were all fantastic. We got one of their specialty pizzas which was a white pie that comes with ricotta (as well as mozz) mushrooms, and basil on a crust that has just the right amount of chewiness and char. Lovely! The folks working here were above-and-beyond friendly. And, one told us that they have a large outdoor patio during pleasant months. We will definitely be back during the pleasant months. And, let's be real--during the less than pleasant months as well. Get to it!

Upon driving in there is a building for the restaurant along with nice outdoor seating, and area for kids to play! We went in mid May on a sunny but cool evening. The kids loved having the sand area and toys to play with while waiting for dinner to arrive. They have a good menu, but there seemed to be a decent amount of items unavailable especially the sausages my friends wanted to try. We ended up with the spring pizza, sassy pig, a plain cheese, and then a three combo of sausages. I thought the pizza was all good, not the best I've ever had but solid. The spring pizza was my favorite. The sassy pig was very unique but good! Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the sausages but others in my group liked them. We upgraded that to include fries and there was only a very small amount. We will definitely be back, seems like a great spot for groups!

I got the Manhattan off their specialty menu and my husband got their autumn barrel Manhattan. After trying both--highly recommend the one off their specialty menu. It was definitely superior quality. It's served over a block of ice so if you want it up, you may want to mention that when ordering. It tasted more like a classic old fashioned than a Manhattan but I'm not complaining because I love classic bourbon old fashioned cocktails as well. For a starter we got their much raved about bang bang shrimp. It came on a bed of greens and was good! For my dinner I got their seasonal chicken and dumpling soup and a side salad. Both were solid. The salad was definitely more ample than I was expecting. My husband got some sort of salmon alfredo pasta dish that came with roasted asparagus mixed in. I had a bite and he ordered well--it was decadently buttery and delicious. The service was super kind throughout our stay. Our server checked in on us regularly without being overbearing. Get to it!

This was at lunchtime when it wasn't very busy at all. I started to think they had actually forgotten about the order. There was also a pesky fly that just wouldn't go away. When the food came, it was pretty good. The thin crust pizza was very tasty and loaded with toppings. And the Greek salad, which came well after the pizza, was great. Fresh lettuce, Kalamata olives, tomato, feta and abundant Greek dressing on the side. We ordered the $4.95 protein-shrimp on top. Asked for them grilled and they came out beautifully. Correctly grilled and tasty. Large jumbo shrimp, a whopping 9 of them on top of a small salad. I'm guessing they may have been frozen, which is why it took so long to make the food. And perhaps they gave us extra since we waited so long. But the add on process is the same for either a small or large salad, so that could play a role. Overall, the food was tasty but the wait for it (despite ordering almost immediately upon being seated) was very long. Don't risk it if you're in a rush to get back to work! Will give it another try when we have much time to spare.

I ordered a cheese burger with an extra patty and sour cream & chive fries, my wife got a cheeseburger with tater tots, my oldest kid got a cheeseburger with regular fries, and my youngest got a grilled cheese with regular fries. We also got cheese sticks and six wings with Jamaican jerk sauce. The cheese sticks weren't huge, but we got eight in the order. The cheese was on the sharp side, so clearly not mozzarella. They were fine, but not my favorite. I vastly prefer rub to sauce on wings, but I'm a sucker for Jamaican jerk flavor so I wanted to try them anyway. There was plenty of heat and some Jamaican jerk flavor, but like the cheese sticks, they weren't my favorite. I wouldn't get this flavor again if I get the wings again at all. The kids grilled cheese looks like it was a good size. He ate it without complaints. The tater tots, sour cream & chive fries, and regular fries were all good. The regular fries seemed like they might have been lightly battered and were my preference of the three. We all thought the burgers were great. The patties seemed like they were hand formed and not out of a frozen box, which is very appreciated. I thought the seasoning tasted like McCormick Montreal steak seasoning, which is fine in small amounts, but can overpower a burger real quick if overseasoned. The Monday deal is $4 for a quarter pound burger and you can add a side for $4 more. Make sure you specify that when you order and don't just say "a cheeseburger with fries" because they will charge you the regular menu price for a larger burger with fries. My wife and oldest son didn't think to specify the $4 burger and the server didn't clarify which size they wanted, so we didn't discover the mix up until we got the bill and it was $10 more than expected. They were able to adjust it for us, so it all worked out in the end. I look forward to coming again on Mondays for the $4 burger deal and checking out their other menu items and specials, especially the Friday fish fry.

And why promote "A Chicago Tradition Since 1964"? This is Germantown, WI. Also sometimes claiming to being a Chicago tradition since 1964, I decided to try this out. My phone order was taken by someone who seemed to be at a call center. At pickup, I saw only two employees, both appeared very hurried. The pizza itself was delicious - like proper Chicago (thin) should be, mine was sausage, mushrooms, onions & green peppers. A little salty with the first bite and three hours later into the evening writing this review, but enjoyable. The franchising of "tradition" is tiring. Besides, Chicago pizza tradition includes table service, table cloths, beer, wine, indoor atmosphere. I understand this place is new, but tradition is not a bright sterile storefront. I really feel bad for the two employees hustling behind the counter with the numerous high-pitched "beep" constantly coming from the kitchen. A franchise can work when done respectfully to local conditions and employees. I felt selfish for desiring a taste of the past, which they duplicated fairly well, then left regretting not supporting true local "traditional" businesses. The MKE metro areas , including Germantown, are filled with strip malls with come and went businesses. This is not building community. If someone wants Chicago pizza, go to Chicago. OR, go to a local place that makes Chicago-Style pizza. If they get it wrong, tell them. My experience with franchises is that some percentage of $$ off the top of sales goes direct to the franchise "company", not the local place. It is not a selling point and really insulting to me the customer to market "tradition" but with the needed changes to be a profitable business. If Rosati's wants to make this work, get rid of the non-traditional big-screen TV's, cut in half the dining area so the tables are almost touching, provide a full-bar, a hostess and waitress, wood paneling, and get rid of the constant beeping. Beverages were provided by "Pep*i". Anyone in the know does now understands that this is not a selling point. There are some WI local beverage places. As a former Chicagoan, I am now doubly insulted. No thanks Rosati's.

As my wife and I walked in, we were amazed by the scale and beauty of the place. The hardwood bar needs to be experienced firsthand to understand how spectacular it is. Then you see the impressive fireplace and the charming dining area, and I was loving it before we even did anything there. We arrived early, so we went to the bar for drinks. My wife, the couple we were with, and I were each impressed with the size of the pours. We ordered a few glasses of wine, a fantastic classic Wisconsin Old Fashioned, and a bourbon on the rocks. The amount we were poured each was impressive, especially compared to other restaurants we've been to lately. The service was fantastic. We were constantly catered to, even though the place was packed. We were each shocked to learn our waitress was new and just starting to fly solo, because she was terrific. Finally, and most importantly, the food was excellent. We started with crab cakes and escargot. Both were absolutely stellar. The salad and bread service were delicious, too, and it was a nice touch that the butter came in slices (we didn't have to unwrap them from foil - a small thing but another plus). When our steaks arrived, each was cooked to the perfectly charred medium-rare we ordered (three NY Strips and one Filet Mignon). Paired with mushrooms, sauteed onions, and some of the largest baked potatoes we'd ever seen, we were in culinary paradise. We will definitely be back, and I imagine many times to come. I haven't had a night that perfect in a long time, if ever.
