Heirloom was absolutely worth the money, the food was delicious! There's plenty of comfortable outdoor seating, with both shaded and sunny options. We chose to sit outside because it was such a beautiful day, and our server was friendly, attentive, and prompt. We started with two lemonades, the lavender and the raspberry rose, and both were delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. While the sandwiches are on the pricier side, the meal was well worth it. Each sandwich comes with a very generous portion of fries, which added to the value. The Bánh Mì sandwich was incredible. Heirloom MKE is so good I went back the following week and had the same level if not a higher level of hospitality provided throughout my visit. The first time I came I had the Reading Rainbow which was sorbet, champagne, and basil infused vodka. It was such a fun drink that I've never seen anywhere else. The second time I came I had the matador Norton which was a tequila pineapple jalapeno cocktail which I also enjoyed. For a starter I've tried the cheese curds and we have tried the hand stretched burrata. The curds had a fantastic pull to them and I enjoyed the salsa and the jalapeno ranch paired with it. Now if you get an appetizer though get the burrata it is amazing. I think what helps put it all together is the strawberry salad with pistachios and honey, and just everything they put on it. For my entree both times I went were great. I've had the Banh Mi and I think it might be one of my favorite sandwiches in Milwaukee. The second time I came I had the Porchini dusted beef tenderloin which was super tender and delicious. I tried it with the blue cheese which I normally do not like and still didn't like but the meat is good and at least I tried it the way they intended. Unfortunately I was truly disappointed in our experience at your restaurant. First of all it was freezing cold inside. Our server was okay but only checked in a couple times regarding "more drinks" we waited 50 minutes for our entrees to come out and food was just okay. Risotto, whitefish, and short ribs I guess I just didn't expect to wait almost an hour for our food. No update from the server on the long wait nothing. Fab date night at Heirloom! From the minute we walked in until we left, everyone was really friendly and helpful and kind. Loved the laid back, vintage vibes. Tl;dr - this place is phenomenal and needs our support! I just went out here for a super fun date night and shortly after by the next week they were featured in a local article for Milwaukee just stating that so many small medium size restaurants and smaller businesses are struggling this holiday season and they expect sales around the holidays to help them through the winter and that they're not seeing what they've seen in the past. My heart breaks for this place because the food is so good. The service was very well done and you can tell that there is heart in the cooking. Do you know how excited I was to learn Heirloom MKE opened a brick and mortar (is that the turn of phrase?) restaurant? OUTRAGEOUSLY! At a brewery in Tosa where I worked for a bit, they would stop their food truck by for an evening. Always sold out. Fell in love with their food and delighted to see a number of vegetarian/vegan options. The restaurant is so cute, light filled, welcoming, and decorated with the most random, neat objects to admire. This has always been one of our favorite restaurants. However last night changed all that. We were going to eat with some friends but one of our friends said she wasn't feeling great and wanted to bow out. Due to the cancellation policy I had to let her know it would cost us $50 if we canceled at that point. She decided that she would try to make it to the restaurant. I felt bad about that. Then our waitress said that we couldn't split the check after we had just been able to do so at the bar. So why is it a problem with splitting our dinner bill? If you're reading this, make the reservation. Easily a 10/10 meal. We started with the burrata, their specialty. It was, in a word, divine. The bread was perfectly toasted. The salad underneath the burrata changes seasonally, and the apricot, honey, and truffle oil elevated it beyond expectation. I could have had another order of this for my entrée and been set. My chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Unpretentious but perfectly executed. The potatoes and broccolini came to life with the lemon caper sauce. My husband had the mac n' cheese with short rib. The creamy mac and tender meat don't compete in flavor -- they're in a loving, happy marriage. This is what restaurant BBQ mac should be. I'm not usually a crème brûlée person, or at least, I thought I wasn't. I let my husband pick the dessert, and it did not disappoint. Perfectly creamy and flavorful. Heirloom is amazing!! It is a farm table restaurant that uses ingredients right from the community which, as a dietitian, I love! Went with friends and made a reservation mid-week (*they do require putting down $10 per person ahead of time which does go towards your bill). The restaurant gives very warm and "homie" vibes and the wait staff was super kind to us (s/o to Darby our waitress!). Their cocktails are incredible and use some unique ingredients- if you like lavender/coffee, try the lavender Smith cocktail! The "so fresh so clean" cocktail is perfect for summer time! I felt like they had a little something for everyone. The pricing is pretty average for MKE area in my opinion. Hit another farm to table resturant! Saw my friend's farm on the menu. We had a reservation at 6:45 on a Friday. You absolutely need one. It requires a deposit. They charge the deposit right away. The bill is the total minus the deposit The table wasn't quite ready. The host is Very friendly and likes the words perfect and beautiful. There's a couple stools at the bar to wait at but it feels crapped. There's a lot of foot traffic around there. We got seated in the pink room over so we didn't have to hear the bell each time a drink was done. The other room was still pretty loud. There wasn't music but there was many tables and close together. I couldn't hear people at my table. The lights were a rather warm for my eyes. Everything was yellow. The crustini was great but I wish they gave us mini plates. The mushroom risotto was amazing. Fresh flavors with more complexity than tradition. It was not the same bite each time. The polenta was also great. The shrimp was very impressive. There was a ton of components that seemed to work no matter how many or little pieces you had in one bite. I met my sister for dinner on a recent Wednesday evening. While the food was good (we shared the cheese curds, I had the crab cake and she the mushroom risotto) there were a few service concerns. First, this restaurant does require a credit card for a reservation and you will be charged a fee if you do not show up. Now, the only time I have seen this in Milwaukee was at room service when getting a table was quite difficult. Second, they would not seat me till my sister arrived which seemed kind of overkill given I was on time and there were plenty of open tables. Third, the server did not want to split the bill which is also listed on their website as the patron's responsibility. Honestly, as a neighborhood restaurant this all seemed rather pretentious. It goes without saying we were excited to try out their restaurant. They have a really cute spot in Bayview, with patio seating available curbside on both sides of the restaurant. Oh Heirloom, how I love you! What a CUTE place with the coziest vibes. MKE is lacking farm-to-table restaurants, but this one is making moves towards the importance of knowing where our food comes from! As a dietitian, I love this. The service was impeccable, our server was so sweet and had great recommendations regarding the menu. She told us she was fairly new, but it felt like she had worked there forever. The cocktail menu is one of my favorites in the city, almost all of them looked like something I would enjoy. I got the Mallow Dramatic cocktail (very light tasting espresso martini vibes with the cutest roasted marshmallow on top) and the Reading Rainbow (Prosecco and sorbet...? Say less). 11/10!!!! Visited with another couple on the Friday before Valentine's Day. We each ordered a cocktail from the specials list and they were all amazing. We split the crab cake and cheese curds for apps and I would definitely recommend both. For our mains, I was craving shrimp and their jumbo shrimp meal was so exciting. There were so many flavors on the plate that each bite was exciting and delicious. My partner ordered the short rib with cabbage over polenta and this was my favorite! My daughter picked this place weeks ago to celebrate her college graduation. We drove from Chicago and arrived 45 minutes early so we waited outside. This is a review of the brick and mortar location, not the food truck. WOW! No doubt this is the #1 Top Place to eat! Every dish was unique and an incredible mix of tastes and textures. Every ingredient was obvious and well balances. We were able to taste 6 event tastings and each one was wonderful in it's own way. The location is out of the way and the parking is on the street. But the inside is warm and very inviting. While it is not a large space we were able to enjoy our own table but occasionally connect with those around us. Simple put, the evening was perfect. The signature drink for the night was the CRG. We can stop right there and say the evening was perfect. But let's go on to the tasting menu. Honey Crisp & Pumpkin Burrata; the bite with a bit of each fresh ingredient was perfection. Grilled Shrimp Polenta; Just enough hot to make it interesting Royal Eggs; I could have eaten 10 more! Crab Cake; Every bite was a bit of heaven with the most enticing shrimp. Where's the Beet Slider; I have never had anything like this and I want more. My sister and I checked out Heirloom over the holidays after hearing good reviews and it did not disappoint! We started with the buratta and roasted garlic crostini. The buratta was so fresh and I loved how it changes seasonally. The pomegranate seeds were a great addition with a fresh vinaigrette on the salad. For entrees, we ordered the halibut and super spicy hot dipped chicken sandwich. Typically we're a bit wearing ordering some seafood in Milwaukee since we're from New England and haven't had good experiences elsewhere, but the Halibut here was perfectly cooked and very fresh. The potato crab hash was amazing too. Our waiter, Josh, recommended I get the hot dipped chicken sandwich super spicy if I liked hot foods and I'm so glad I did. We laughed when he said some people can't handle it but I didn't find it overpowering at all. I recommend reservations but there also was some room for walk ins. I was so impressed with my experience at Heirloom this past weekend! Great ambiance, delicious food, generous cocktails, and above all, super friendly service on a lively Saturday night. As others have recommended, a reservation is a good idea. When we arrived, they were getting our table ready so we were offered seats at the bar while we waited. I saw the bartender fixing a HUGE delicious-looking drink and asked her what it was. She was happy to tell me all about it and answer my questions. Turns out, it was the CRG, which has cardamom-infused vodka, rosemary, and grapefruit. It was delicious. This drink, as well as quite a few others, can be made non-alcoholic and, in some cases, vegan. I LOVE seeing mocktail options on menus - they're a thoughtful touch that really goes a long way when you can tell they're intentional, not an afterthought. We had a few minutes with our drinks at the bar (and I got a picture of their adorable pink tree!), before we were taken to our table. Kyle was our server and was helpful with decisions, because it really is hard to decide. Lots of good choices. We settled on sharing the Royal eggs and they were great. I also loved my tempeh reuben and fries. Their menu is elevated comfort food with generous portions, so I was happy to have leftovers. My dining companion ordered the braised short rib mac and cheese (they have both of these things as separate items on the menu, but I think they're better together!) and that was so delicious! I would happily get all of those things again, but would like to go back to try the hot dipped chicken (can also be tempeh) sandwich. This fresh, hand stretched moz ball was so creamy and all of the flavors in the dish paired so well with it. Plus the toasted bread was dang good. Slightly toasted, buttered, garlic flavors. All the things. I'm a fan of micro greens as well, so loved to see those included. Along with our app we ordered drinks from their cocktail menu. I opted for the CRG (but mocktail version - which they can do with most any of their cocktails). So refreshing! Grapefruit and rosemary notes and overall sparkling. We all had menu anxiety trying to choose our entrees because there are so many good sounding options. And whenever everything is fresh and locally sourced, you just know there's no wrong choice. In the end I went with the Banh Mi sandwich. I mean how good does slow roasted Vietnamese pulled uphoff pork sound!? My only wish was that there was more of the sriracha hoisin aioli on the sammie, but overall it was great. Thumbs up from my friends on their burger and friend chicken sandwich too! All of these came with a plentiful portion of fries and a great cucumber dill dipping sauce. I'd choose that over ranch or ketchup any day.
