We stopped here after dinner, so we stuck mostly with the cocktails. Unfortunately, nothing on the seasonal menu really stuck out to me. I stuck with the "traditional" cocktails (spicy watermelon bubblegum, and then banana daiquiri). Hubs went for the halo halo food (which was so cute! All the typical ingredients but served in cubist fashion), and the paired drink. The paired drink was supposed to have different layers of flavor, but they all mixed together quite a bit. Tasty, just not the "layered" experience we thought. I think they almost do themselves a disservice comparing themselves to the aviary - that is a crazy high bar to meet. Granted, maybe we would have been more impressed if we had more of the seasonal cocktails despite them not seeming interesting? Probably wouldnt go out of my way to go here again, but it is a cool vibe and the cocktails were good.

We thought Renards would be better, as friends had good experiences. We arrived before our friends and were seated. Once the waitress found her pad and dug out her pen, she took our drink order. The hostess that greeted our friends, could not get the door open to let them into the restaurant, but called for help to do so. The waitress stopped to take their drink order. She returned a few minutes later to take the drink menus out of his hand and that was the last we saw of her. There wasn't a server to be seen, just two hard working cooks talking to the people at the bar. After twenty minutes, someone walked by and we asked about our drinks, she offered to find someone. A few minutes later bread was dropped at our table, that woman said she had no idea about our drinks. At that time we decided to cut our losses. On the phone with a restaurant that could seat us, a man came to us and said he heard there was a delay in receiving our drinks. We said yes but since no one seemed to be able to serve us, we're leaving. He just shook his head and walked away. A very unfortunate and disappointing experience.

Date of visit: May 7, 2025…read more After a very long hiatus, we reassembled the trivia team and did battle at The Elevens Lounge, part of The Annex at Foxtown and were pleasantly surprised overall by the experience. Parking is plentiful in the lot directly outside as well as the lower lot. The space is quite large and in a ] shape, with a mix of low tables and high tops. The low tables are not ideal for eating, I'd recommend grabbing a couple of high tops if you're planning to dine in. Speaking of dining, the food is quite good, if a bit on the expensive side. I went with the French Onion Burger (sans onions, naturally) and even though it didn't say it on the menu, it came with a side of fries that were quite good--crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the fries that Five Guys aspires to offer but never quite achieves. The fries were so plentiful I filled up on those and some of my husband's pizza and saved the burger for dinner the next day, which reheated very well and was on a fantastic bun. Service during trivia is always a crapshoot but Quadrea, better known as Q, did his best to keep things moving, though he didn't write anything down and kept forgetting things, which in the end probably slowed things down more than anything. All that being said, we liked the venue and will definitely be back for trivia again.

Service is super easy ordering at the counter indoors and you can peruse and look at all of the cute curated items, books & records while you wait. The outdoor seating is ample and lovely with their giant striped umbrellas and blue Adirondack chairs as well as other seating options - and fire pits for when the weather turns chilly! There were just a few people enjoying the live music - a duo singing classic tunes. They sounded fantastic! Given we are in the middle of a pandemic I was surprised they offered live music and relieved everyone was spaced out. It was my friend's birthday so they sang Happy Birthday along with everyone in the entire pub! I later found out that the singer was one of the owners. The woman at the table across the way was his wife and was the other owner. This husband and wife duo could not have been more gracious and hospitable. I noticed that there was an air purifier right next to our table which made me feel a little better. I wasn't sure I wanted to socialize quite as much as we were doing, but it was my friend's birthday so we kept our masks on and enjoyed a few songs before we headed out. Once the crazy virus gets under control, I would love to come back and stay at this dear little bed and breakfast situated in the heart of downtown on their main street. It would be perfect for a romantic get away, a girlfriend's weekend or a family vacation. I plan on enjoying their authentic little pub every night that I'm there. Unfortunately, the TVs displaying live online poker really detracted from the ambiance. We really enjoy tiki bars for the drinks and the escapism, and it was just way too hard, actually impossible, to forget we were sitting in a Midwestern bar in the middle of winter. So, very interesting building and space. There appears to be a fun patio area for the summer months and there's a big screen tv that I'm guessing shows sporting events. My review for atmosphere would be 4-5 stars. Unfortunately too much time doing nothing but waiting and looking around killed the visit. I was there on a Saturday at the noon hour. It was not exceptionally busy, especially for the space they have. We were just there to get a coffee and go. Should be in/out in a few minutes right? Wrong, there was one girl managing the counter and two guys visible in the back area. We waited a full 10 minutes at the counter while the girl took one order ahead of ours. I was getting the this is going to take forever vibe and would have left, but we weren't in a hurry and my wife wanted to try the coffee. So once our order was placed and paid for we proceeded to wait another 20 minutes for two drinks and a scone. In that time the counter girl certainly kept moving, although not with any deliberate speed. The two guys in the kitchen did not come out to help her at all and when delivering only two plates to tables did so at a snail's pace. The place really wasn't busy, but the staff they had struggled mightily to keep pace. This is similar to what my friend reports experiencing time and again. To give credit the counter person did apologize for the wait time to place our order and apologized again for the wait to receive our order. So the drinks (coffee and a chai) were average and the blueberry scone was on the dry side of mid. All in all, really nice atmosphere and decorations. Maybe a place to bring your own drink in, because you may not get one from them for awhile. Definitely not a good place to stop if you are in a rush to get somewhere else.
