If I could give this place 0 stars, I would! The workers are a big contribution as to why. They are rude & inattentive. They are getting paid to do a job and they can't even do that. I think this place is nostalgic for a lot of my OC folks. Places like these put boba entrepreneurship on the map. I regrettably haven't tried 302 before, so I had to stop by this Irvine location. As you probably know by now, it's self serve. You pay for the cup and choose your toppings, then head over, choose your actual drink, then head back to the counter to seal. The order didn't really make too much sense to me, since I feel like the purchasing step is unnecessary and the sealing step had me cutting quite a bit of people in line. Either it should be streamlined like fro-yo places, or have multiple employees at multiple stations. Anyways, I appreciated how generous they were on samples. I got to try all of the teas, milk teas, and slushies. I didn't quite like the fruit teas because of how artificial it tasted, probably flavored with those giant tubs from the restaurant supply warehouses. The wintermelon and 302 teas were really good, and the slushies were alright. I had grass jelly as my topping, but I think it was old, since it tasted a bit off and was quite rubbery. Overall, class 302 is a great concept and I'm glad to see it still around. Located at the Marketplace, parking is plentiful. Panda Express, Yogurtland, J-San ramen are nearby and they all have indoor seating as well as several outdoor shared tables so my kids are happy with their orange chicken while I get my stinky fix. First time here Monday night 01/20 around 9:30p. Walking in we were greeted by a female bobarista, super sweet an let us try drinks before even ordering. She seemed to realize that it was our first time there and was patient with us. When we had made out decision we came back to a guy at the counter. He was super rude. When we told him what we wanted he replied with "k" and asked "what topping" with no emotion whatsoever. When we filled our cups and came back to get it sealed, but we were waiting on the other side since there were customers being served. Then the guy says "put your cups here". We like coming to this location as there's plenty of other casual restaurants to order food from with covered patio tables to eat at. We've been coming here the last 5 years specifically for the create your own tea drinks. We've been to other locations and food and drinks are comparable. It's a really good value considering I usually have my cup 1/2-2/3 filled w various toppings (i.e. boba, almond jello, lychee jelly, aloe vera jelly, grass jelly, pudding, etc). Unfortunately due to COVID, you can't sample the teas before filling. Because I don't like mine too sweet, I usually will add at least 1/2 jasmine tea and they used to have an unsweetened tea (if you ask). They also got rid of the rose milk tea which we liked. I had high hopes coming to this restaurant because I remember Class 302 being super popular back in the day where there was a long wait to be seated, and also because I love Taiwanese food. But I was pretty disappointed. The best thing at this place was the popcorn chicken and the self serve boba. The other two dishes I ordered were underwhelming. The beef noodle soup didn't have much flavor, and the beef was dry and flavorless, even though it was sitting in soup. The rice with meat dish also lacked flavor, and the texture of the meat looked like cat food - it looked nothing like what was pictured. I've been here a couple times because I love the self-serve boba bar concept and they have really yummy food items. My personal favorite is the popcorn chicken and 302 Milk tea. But, I love all of their milk tea and green tea options. I am not the biggest fan of their smoothies but a lot of people get the thai tea smoothie. They have a ton of different options for toppings and you can get as many as you want which I love. The price is a little high but worth it. The seating area is really great for a casual dinner, quick snack, study session, or just to hangout with friends. There is an older gentleman there who is always so sweet and kind and fixes anything whenever I ask (such as making the popcorn chicken more spicy). Class 302 restaurant in Tustin marketplace has recently renovated with full service and alcohol menu. We ordered oyster pancake, salmon fried rice, pork chop rice, beef noodles. The pork chop was crispy outside and juicy and tender inside. All the dishes were delicious and authentic. The decor was updated with a cozy vibe. We finished our meal with a the Mango pannacota shaved ice- the ice was so silky with the right amount of sweetness. They then give you the cup and have you go fill it up from pre mixed teas. Decently busy location. Only one staff member at cashier to help everyone by taking orders and the people who return to get their drink sealed. I saw a lot of people waiting and confused on how to get their self serve drink sealed. I think this is not the same class 302. They mustve sold the business. The menu is not exactly the same and they also changed the recipe. The price went up too! Im not sure if i wanna go back. It has a good selection of to-go drinks but it's self-serve and a small restaurant, so difficult to get your drink during busy hours because there are too many people trying to to do self-serve. We are longtime fans of Class 302! Been to the Rowland Heights location many times back in the day and also to the old location in Michelson. Food is always satisfying and my little one loves the self serve boba. We're here every week for lunch! I stopped by with my family yesterday after many years. I have fond memories of Class 302 and was excited to share it with my kids who love boba. I noticed the cups were smaller now (understandably--inflation!) but was sad to see that almond jello was no longer an option and all the add ons were done for you by an employee. One add-on I chose was "lychee boba" which I assumed would be a chewy ball similar to the brown honey boba balls. However when I bit into them, they were popping boba, which the sign did not indicate. They were extremely sweet and tasted a like cough syrup. I asked if it would be possible to re-do my drink. I was met with a good amount of side-eye and annoyance by the girl at the register which I did not appreciate. They took the lid off the cup and washed it out to reuse the cup and when it was resealed there was a gap :( The almond milk tea was solid as well as the milk pudding and honey boba so no complaints there. I ordered the combo with fried rice and pork chop was around $15 and the garlic sausage appetizer like $7/8 bucks. This place is so good! I finished a tennis match pretty late so a lot of the places around were already closed. My friend from Taiwan suggested we go here since it is one of the only places that truly remind him of the food from back home. We decided to give it a go and honestly, it was one of the best meals I've had in a while! I got the fried rice and the popcorn chicken and let me just say, out of all of the places that I've ordered popcorn chicken from, Class 302 has given the biggest portion yet! I was definitely expecting it to either be really good with a small amount, or have a large amount and be decent. To my surprise, it was both. :) My husband got the cumin chicken and the pineapple rice and my friend got the fried rice with the calamari. All three of our meals came out hot, fresh, and really flavorful. The service was also really nice as well, with the employee at the register explaining how the menu worked and even offering some of their favorite suggestions. Since it was pretty late, I didn't try any of the Boba drinks but I really liked the self serve set up inside. Hands down the best Taiwanese comfort food in Irvine. The prices are SUPER reasonable. For $14 combo meal, you'll get 2 entrees. Their appetizers are $5-8 range and they are HUGE. The food came out fresh, hot, and delicious. The restaurant setting is adorable and it does take me back to Taiwan old style schools. 3 star restaurant so a 3 star review won't change anything. Mainly wanted to bring attention to something. Ordered a wonton noodle soup. Tasted fine, good even. Wontons have some herb or spice inside them I can't describe that makes them new and interesting compared to standard ones. Soup is fine, noodles nice and chewy. Near the end of the meal I spy some yellow chunk floating in my soup. I think it's some fried wonton wrapper or something, idk sometimes Asian people put crunchy fried stuff in soups lol. Ends up tasting sour so I take it out. Is it a pickle I wonder? So I smell it and it smells rancid. Like hummus left out too long, if that makes any sense. 馊/sou/suk if you know Chinese, lol. I'm basically already done with my meal so out of curiosity I take it to the cashier/pickup area and ask them what it is. They say it's ginger, which is total BS. I'm not a normie (when it comes to food at least), lol. It clearly looks like a vegetable stem with some leaf attached (cabbage probably) and clearly smells rancid. I don't expect a response here but like, come on, it's not even like the cabbage is a necessary part of the dish; like if the wonton meat was screwy but you served them to me in desperation. It's just a random piece of cabbage you could have thrown and left out of the dish and nothing would have changed. It's total neglect and laziness lol. I wasn't even looking for a confrontation or anything, I'm pussy af and asked my question as nice as anyone could ever be, but don't treat me like I'm stupid and say it's ginger. Love Class 302! Been a fan since visiting their Rowland Heights location over 10 years ago (RIP RH location). This review is for the BOBA only. I used to frequent this location when it first opened a few years ago. The concept of self-serve boba was mind blowing to me at the time. I love how you can pick and choose your preferred toppings and mix and match different flavors of milk tea to make your own boba concoction. I recently took hubby here and he fell in love. We probably come here once a week now. He loves sampling the different milk teas before building his own. His go-to is almond milk tea, jasmine milk tea, or taro milk tea. My personal favorite is the wintermelon milk tea or Jasmine milk tea. He loves adding pudding and boba into his tea but I just love plain boba. The boba here is very good. Consistency is chewy and they try to make fresh boba everytime we visit. We love it. The milk teas aren't overly sweet and they all taste great. Overall experience here is always great. We love mixing and matching our own flavors and it's always such a treat. We hope to try out the food another time! I also hope they bring back the shaved ice as well. read more
